Berger, I have to curb your enthusiasm (funniest goddamn show on TV. HBO and Larry best make a Season 9) on Hector Sanchez. He has a .669 OPS, and two, count them TWO walks in 128 ABs this year. But you are right about him being clutch. Hector has 24 RBI in those same ABs. That projects to 78 in about 495 at-bats. Hector “Clutch” Sanchez should be our #1 pinch-hitter with runners on base. And I’ll also give ya your boy Nate can play some RF. That was one helluva job holding Bay to a single. But overall, I think he’s related to Matt Ryan — He stinks on ice.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:08 pm

And I’m sure ya gonna call me in 2 seconds and tell me that called third to Nate was outside.
If Falcon QB, Matt Ryan stinks on ice, then your boy Nate is on an iceberg.

  2. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:05 pm

    I’m feeling a Belt HR.
    Or, could be gas…

    • snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:07 pm

False alarm. Just a burp, and a single…

  3. stixwiz said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:08 pm

Over the past four games Belt has been the Giants best hitter. So why the hell is he still batting 7th?

  4. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:08 pm

I don’t know much about stats. They can be very deceiving. I just know he gets timely hits.

    • Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:11 pm

I was tallking about Hector Sanchez.

  5. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:08 pm

Huff’shot for his last RBI here/.

  6. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:09 pm

    There ya go . . . Aaaand he’s hurt.

  7. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:10 pm

I know you’re all thinking it, so allow me to say it…Thank Christ Huff is hurt again. Fuck him.

  8. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:10 pm

Huff is DL for at least August!

  9. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:10 pm

    Crawford was safe at 2nd.

  10. demp28 said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:11 pm

Thanks for beating the relay to first Huff. Now go back to Texas to your trailer and RETIRE.

  11. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:13 pm

Congrats to Huff for lucking out and not hitting into an otherwise patented DP he’s famous for.
He should not have even been on the squad. That very well could be the last time he bats as a Giant…

    • unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:14 pm

      One can hope.

      • unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:16 pm

I guess I shouldn’t be so crass, but Huff basically admitted he took last year off. This year’s he’s done less. All for $22 mill.

      • snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:19 pm

These two seasons for Huff may be the worst performance for value of any Giant I can remember. At least Zito actually has gone out there for the majority of his contract, even with last year’s lingering foot “injury”. He signed that 2 year extension and basically wielding that pen was the most production he’s done since…

      • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:35 pm

Your point is well-taken, but it’s worth remembering that he got paid $3 million for 2010. He was very high value for the money that year.

  12. willedav said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:16 pm

meanwhile, the blog jinx on scutaro (by snarkk and myself yesterday before the popup) has apparently been lifted.

    • snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:17 pm

      Bigtime…

  13. Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:20 pm

Flash: Willie McCovey is not a champion, nope he failed. Will Clark, nope. JT Snow, iced. Aubrey Huff, well what do you know he has champion skid marks on his red thong.
Looking at the back of their baseball cards and you know this can’t be possible, but it is.

  14. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:22 pm

Andres Torres is trending on Twitter. There must be a run on Adderall at the pharmacy.

  15. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:24 pm

I threatened the Giants with my Wonder Bread metaphor, and they came through with squeezing out 4 runs so far. I should threaten ‘em more often…

  16. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:35 pm

If Pagan’s not hurt and Boch put in Blanco this early to replace him for D purposes, that tells me Pagan has low odds of coming back next season…

    • Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:46 pm

      Hold that good thought!.

  17. twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:37 pm

If it was his last AB here, and it might be, at least Huff busted it down the line. I’ve seen plenty of guys quit runnng after pulling up. After 50+ years of baseball, I can choose my memories, though. I’ll remember Aubrey for 2010 and forget the last two, which were horrible indeed.

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:42 pm

      Well said.

    • willedav said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:42 pm

yes he did, and the replay showed he was hurt by first or second step out the box.
But that has to be it.
Anything to make of mets being able to leave byrdak in there, with all these lefties in a row? Nate, of course with a line drive in the scorebook, tho crawford probably hit the ball harder.

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:43 pm

” I can choose my memories, though.” I just mean I have a lot of them, anyone can choose what to remember, of course.

      • Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:49 pm

It would be a lot easier to remember the good Huff if he would go away soon.

    • snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:44 pm

They should find a way to not bring him back for more this season, lest he embarrass himself further. No need to further cloud the great 2010 exploits with yet additional excrescence…

  18. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:49 pm

    Wow. That frisbee slider . . .

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:50 pm

It’s why he’ll never be a closer. He’s a real good 8th inning guy, but when he hangs that pitch, look out. At least, at home, you get two more innings if he gives up the longball.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:52 pm

If Romo was playing “Frolf” like George Costanza did, that woulda been a 300 yd drive right down the middle.

  19. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:50 pm

    FUcking Hairaton!!

  20. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:50 pm

    Hairston gets us AGAIN.

  21. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:51 pm

    Hairston. Again.
Did I not say earlier tonite I was sick of these Hairston pricks?
May I say “FUUUUUUCK ME” here?
    Thanks…

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:55 pm

No you may not. However, you may say the correct response at a time like this…
      FUCK YOU, BOZO!!!

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:56 pm

Now after that go ahead double, we may all say it…
        FUCK YOU, BOZO!!!

      • Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:00 pm

It ain’t over yet Dennis, I just might have a chance to say fuck all y’all.

  22. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:57 pm

2 in a row. Blowing a 2 run lead to the Mets. Oh joy.

  23. zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:57 pm

Hanging slider is trending on Twitter.

  24. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:58 pm

    For the umpteenth time…Scutaro hasn’t played 3B since 2008!
    FUCK YOU, BOZO!!!

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:02 pm

For the umpteenth time, Arias had played two games at third before this year.

  25. Macdog said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:59 pm

Forget all the other problems, whether it’s Lincecum, no power, lousy bench, shaky fielding. If Romo loses it, this team is absolutely screwed.

  26. twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 9:59 pm

    What a revoltin’ development.

  27. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:00 pm

    This is brutal.
    I’m fresh out of cyanide.
Guess I’ll settle for a generous tumbler of some single malt…

  28. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:01 pm

10:34pm: Alfonso Soriano has told the Cubs he won’t accept a trade to San Francisco, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio tweets.

    • unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:05 pm

      Thankk God for small favors.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:07 pm

10:03 PM PDT: Dennis has told Frank he won’t feed him any fish and shrimp to his favorite dish, FUCK YOU BOZO!!!, our good pal from the Carolina Coast who’s dodged the brunt of some hurricanes, is still above water and able to still down some tequila and grape reports.

      • Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:26 pm

The good news Dennis, the house is now sitting over 10 feet of sea level. And, the better news, We should be able to move back in a couple of weeks.

  29. willedav said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:01 pm

oh shit. not again..kangaroo court blog suspension looming I imagine.

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:04 pm

Damned with too much praise. (grin)

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Just a guess, but I don’t think you’re a proponent of the death penalty in the Kangaroo Court. Not I, said the cat. I’d be whacking more players than you’d see in a Scorsese picture.

  30. zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:10 pm

Lack of late-inning comeback wins at home? I think we can solve that mystery for Krukow.
    Lack of HRs….

    • snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:14 pm

      Bingo…

  31. twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:11 pm

Latest from MLBTR has us in on Pence, with the Bums going for Victorino. Also reported is that Phil’s asking price for Pence is “outrageous”

  32. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:13 pm

    Dodgers just got Brandon League.

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:17 pm

That’s alright. We’ve already got a couple of Brandons. One more would have been confusing.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:19 pm

BREAKING: The Giants just acquired another beer from Gordon Biersch that they’re going to charge $15 a pop at the ballpark.

  33. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:17 pm

WTF this team would be without Melky is too horrendous to contemplate…

  34. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:19 pm

Dodgers are playing for fuckin’ keeps in the trade derby…

  35. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:24 pm

The odd replacement of Pagan smells of a trade to be announced after the game. That, or he is hurt? That was a weird substitution.

  36. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:26 pm

Since when did Bill Buckner sign with the Mets?

    • Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:32 pm

They gave Nate a hit! Line drive in the box score!

  37. zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:27 pm

    Bill Buckner’s revenge!

  38. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:27 pm

The cave is rockin’! Nate is on 2nd. Go Belt!

  39. Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:27 pm

The caves rocking. Go Nate, go Berger.

  40. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:32 pm

That was NOT a hit by Nate. Sorry, Berger. And the official scorer who credited him with that double should be waterboarded.

    • Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:32 pm

      Why do you hate Nate?

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:43 pm

I don’t. I have no hatred left. All my hatred has been dispersed to a certain 49er QB who’s name I can’t mention on this blog. But if that 49er QB in question were happen to fall off the face of the planet tomorrow (if there is a god) I would take that hatred and send it Marco Scutaro’s way…
It’s 3-2, SWING THE GODDAMN BAT!!! FUCK YOU, BOZO!!! I hope Scott Hariston dies in one of your hurricanes. Fuck him.

    • Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:35 pm

I thought it was a hit all the way. The way the 1st baseman went at the play was do or die. By trying to get the play at the plate it was too tough of a play to not call it a hit.

      • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Davis blew that play. Eli wasn’t even breaking towards the plate.

      • Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:41 pm

Yes, he blew the play, but he never touched the ball. He did what Pagan does in the outdfield, make an easy play look hard. But I thought it was a hit all the way.

      • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:42 pm

Z, if you replay that, you’d see Eli was about halfway to the plate.

  41. twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:35 pm

Fuck the HR- the ground attack is back!!!

  42. Salty said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:38 pm

    rats

  43. twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:39 pm

They jinxed him. How does Marco take that?

  44. Macdog said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Jesus, Scutaro, swing the fucking bat.

  45. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:42 pm

Does Bochy ever learn, Hairston kills us.

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Well, you don’t walk him there. That’s on the pitcher.

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:45 pm

How in the world is that on Bochy?

  46. twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:43 pm

    Unbelievable…well, maybe not.

  47. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Who on this blog did not know Hairston was going to hit another HR?

  48. zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:44 pm

There’s a stereotype about this ballpark and HRs, but time and time again we see that a righthanded pull-hitter can homer here.

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:46 pm

I’ve said that many times, and we’ve had a bunch of guys who have. Hard to understand Buster just having 3 here this year.

  49. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:47 pm

This didn’t come from me, but Frank the Cat would like to say…Closer in a NON-save situation and he gives up a HR? He’s shocked.

    FUCK YOU, BOZO!!!

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:48 pm

Which raises the question, of course, who did you want pitching this inning?

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:50 pm

Frank thinks that a silly question. Anyone but the closer, but of course.

  50. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:47 pm

Christ. the relief corps is unraveling before our eyes.

  51. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:48 pm

Did I say earlier, twice, that Hairston was a prick?
Giants take twenty minutes and a pint of blood to score two, leave three on.
Mets take one swing to take the lead. Giants lack of HR power is biting them in the ass…

  52. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:48 pm

    Kent hit a ton here.

  53. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:49 pm

    It’s official.
    Closer crisis…

    • snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:51 pm

I haven’t heard boos (radio) that loud from the ATT crowd for a reliever since, you know, Armando…

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:52 pm

Check that. Closer in a NON-save situation crises. So says Frank.

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:54 pm

True, but not unhappy we didn’t get League.

  54. Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:51 pm

Damn, this is making it very hard to justify staying up for this. Come on Hensley stop these fucks. A couple more runs Giants, that’s it.

  55. zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:52 pm

You gotta give Hairston credit. The Giants pitchers laid two pitches on a platter for him, and he didn’t miss either one.

  56. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:53 pm

People, say it with me now…We DESERVE to lose.

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:55 pm

      No, say it alone.

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:55 pm

The Mets haven’t played that great tonight, either. Why are they more deserving?

      • unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:57 pm

        Because Dennis is trolling.

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:06 pm

I’ve got my chartreuse 1/2 oz. Kastmaster spoon off my yacht in the Florida Keys today.
Translation: I’m holding out a tablespoon and trying to get Frank to eat some food.

  57. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:54 pm

    Fuck this. Brilliant fielding there.

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:58 pm

How does he consider looking at second? I’m rarely for this-but, Bruce: it’s spread flippin’ time..

  58. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 10:57 pm

What the FUUUUUCK was that play by Hensley?
Do our pitchers actually practice situational play after Spring Training?
My goodness. If they lose after this shit, Bochy SHOULD turn over the spread. The quality of play in this game deserves some closed door, serious ass chewing…

  59. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:00 pm

Fucking Leona Helmsley would have made that play on the come-backer
“We don’t pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes…”
“Giants well paid pitchers don’t make mistakes. ..only the ones making $750,000 do…”

    • unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:02 pm

      Her fucking dog would have.

      “Now batting, Eli Whitehead.”

1st pitch hacking. Christ weren’t on deck watching him?

If ever there was a time for Nate . . .

  62. Salty said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:09 pm

OK Nate, blast a walk off.

  63. Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:09 pm

Oh shit, here comes Berger’s boy with the game on the line…

  64. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:12 pm

Sloppy as hell game, but you gotta admit it’s been one of the “best” of the year…

Well, they gave it a shot- too many mistakes by vets tonight.

  66. Bozo said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:15 pm

Well, Fuck Me. I was really hoping to be fucking the horse Dennis rode in on, but not so.
    Get em tomorrow Giants.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:18 pm

You’re welcomed anytime, Bozo. Sleep well tonight. We’ll go get ‘em tomorrow.

What did I say Sat. when Bochy decided to start Scutaro at third? We’re going to DESERVE to lose a whole lot of games now. Since Scutaro has played third for the past three games, we’ve lost them all.

    Well deserved, Giants. Well deserved.

  68. twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:17 pm

    GNight.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:19 pm

NO it wasn’t. But sleep well all the same…

  69. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:22 pm

If they don’t play Nate now, just trade him.

    • twinfan1 said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:28 pm

He’s started 8 of the last 10 games, ferchrissakes..

  70. snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:22 pm

5 losses in a row at home is unfuckinacceptable. LA lost, but you’re losing ground when you lose home games…

  71. Macdog said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:24 pm

Horrific. You gotta play pretty lousy these days to lose to the Mets, and the Giants more than did their part.

  72. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:30 pm

I blame it on, what else, our shakey defense, again.

  73. Berger said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:31 pm

Pagan punched something and hurt his hand.

    • snarkk said, on July 30, 2012 at 11:37 pm

      Unfuckingreal…

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on July 31, 2012 at 12:05 am

This goes without saying…Pagan DESERVED that shit…

does *placing* asterisks around a word(s) make it a metaphor, a euphemism, an analogy, an inference or a *virtual* word?

    just asking

    • eddacker said, on July 31, 2012 at 4:26 am

The giants are worthy. Hot and cold. They may or may not be deserving of this losing streak, but there is one group that deserves something. The flap nation deserves a break, Frank, pass the word.

    BLEEP last night!
