The A’s Are a Joke

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 5, 2014

I still can’t get over The A’s having to cancel last night’s game due to….stupidity? Seriously, there is no other word for it. Why didn’t the A’s have to forfeit that game? I know there’s no rule or precedent for it but the reason they couldn’t play the game had nothing to do with mother nature– it was 100% on them. How do we know that they didn’t cancel the game just to rest their tired bullpen? I know that’s not why they canceled it, the field condition WAS the reason, but it’s a little scary that a team can just cancel a game for any given reason.

Snarkk brought up a great point in the POTD. Do the fans get their money back for the parking? How about for the beers and food they bought in anticipation of enjoying them during an actual game? Did A’s officials make everyone slam their beers before kicking them out and having them drive home? Isn’t selling beers and sending fans back to their cars right after they drink them irresponsible? They stop selling beers in the 7th inning for a reason…..

Stat Fact: The last game to be canceled for failing to tarp the field for bad weather was 8/15/41

And we haven’t even started talking about the sewage problem yet. I know it’s not L-Wolff’s problem, it’s the city’s, but at what point do you decide that your players deserve at least the basic right to work in a place that doesn’t have sewage backing up into the locker rooms all the time? At what point do you eat that cost for the sake of your players?

Anyway, #secondclassoperation #headsshouldroll #thiswouldneverhappenatAT&T #oranywhereelse

On the news last night they said the fans yesterday do get the rescheduled game and parking free. No food and drink. From what I’ve heard about the chow, I’d say BYO.

You pays your money and you takes your chances. The same thing happened to me at a Zephyrs game in New Orleans, I still suspect that it really had more to do with the low turnout.

It’s ironic that the A’s have a Single A team, the Stockton Ports, and a AAA team, the Sac Rivercats, who both have as great and modern minor league ballparks as you can find in the nation.

New Fox crew of Joe Buck, Harold Reynolds, and Tom Verducci doing today game on Fox Sports1…You’re on your own, trying to find that channel.

  5. Wilcojoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 1:17 pm

Nice play by Hanley, course it helped that Pagan wasn’t running.

  6. zumiee said, on April 5, 2014 at 1:19 pm

Pence in the 2-spot ain’t happening.

  7. zumiee said, on April 5, 2014 at 1:27 pm

Masterful pitching to Gonzalez. Good morning, good afternoon, good night.

  8. zumiee said, on April 5, 2014 at 1:34 pm

Hicks absolutely seizing that 2nd base spot.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 1:35 pm

Yeah, as if he fell into our lap.

  9. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 1:34 pm

Man, I am liking this kid Hicks more and more. Where in the fuck did he come from????????? Whatever . . . Just glad he is here.

    • snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 1:47 pm

He keeps raking, Scuts can take his time healing that back…

I know most of you (or at least I think most of you) don’t care for Vin Scully, but the dude can talk some baseball. More information from him in one inning, then I get most games from K & K. He’s not really a homer either, as I have caught him criticize the Dodgers thoroughly a couple of times in this game (and numerous times, yesterday). Anywho, there are worst things in life (like listening to the clowns at Sherpa land).

    • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:06 pm

Latest example – He just put Puig through the coals on that stupid slide to first. Scully made 3-4 comments criticizing him.

      • snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:12 pm

How about now getting picked off?…

      • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:12 pm

LOL. No shit. What a dumb ass.

  11. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:15 pm

    Yes, Michael!

  12. Bozo said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:16 pm

    The Beast, fuck yeah

    • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:19 pm

Clown, did you know that Kemp is also referred to as The Beast? I didn’t know that until an article I read about him the other day. Got it after his 2011 season.

      • Bozo said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:23 pm

Nope, I did not know that, blade. To be honest with ya, I don’t think I know a damn thing about Kemp, whereas I heard a bit about Morse from the Nats fans in my area.

  13. Macdog said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:16 pm

    Morse, of course!

  14. snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:17 pm

Like to see about 30 more of those from Morse…

    • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:22 pm

      Today?

  15. Bozo said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:41 pm

    Panda jack, oh yeah.

  16. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:42 pm

Woo Hoo! Sandoval just won me some money on Fanduel.

  17. Macdog said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:42 pm

    PABLOOOOOOOO!

  18. Flavor said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:44 pm

    PandaBomb
Also, Andris Biedrens has been waived by the Jazz.
    That is all.

  19. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:45 pm

Dominguez was untouchable yesterday. Hopefully, the Giants tell a different story today.

  20. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:47 pm

    Oh yes! Buster!

  21. Bozo said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:47 pm

Posey doin’ some additional damage. Yes.

  22. Macdog said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:47 pm

    Buster back-to-back!

  23. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:49 pm

Scully said, Dominguez threw a 98MPH fastball to Buster and added, “Doesn’t matter how fast the ball goes, it it doesn’t move, MLB players hit it out.”

  24. snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:50 pm

Not only chicks dig the long ball. I’m digging this HR parade. Keep it goin’ !…

    • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:52 pm

Snarkk, I almost wish the Giants played on the road 24/7. Small sample size, but the Giants look like they are going to rake on the road. I hope the Phone park doesn’t diminish their hitting/power too much.

      • peets said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:59 pm

ATT shouldn’t matter much to the RH power guys Pence Morris Pablo Posey.
Wicked Strong—winner of the Wood Mem today.

  25. Irish Kevin said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:54 pm

Hmmm…is it too late to change my 84 win total? I know it is early but these games are against division rivals so they are very important. Go Giants!

  26. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 2:55 pm

Did Morse hurt himself or was he taken out for defensive reasons?

    • snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:05 pm

Giants radio guys said it was for D…

  27. snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:02 pm

Minor deal, but IMO it’s too early in bottom of the 5th to pull Morse for D purposes. The guy seems to be in a hitting groove, you might need him in one more AB to pad the lead against these Bums…

    • Flavor said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:09 pm

yeah, I kinda see your point. But who knows, maybe he tweaked something with that head snap back thing he did.

  28. snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:09 pm

I just saw this, had no idea. Jerruh’s place in Texas is called “ATT Stadium”…

  29. Flavor said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:11 pm

What type of culture do you live in where everyone looks around at each other, nodding and smiling, and willingly participate in The Wave?

    • Bozo said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:19 pm

What an awesome question. I wish I had an answer, any answer, but I don’t.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:25 pm

      Yeah, not in my world.

    • snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:32 pm

I don’t have a problem with it. In moderation and at an innocuous time in the game. Kids generally like it. Now, Dot racing and similar idiotic and loud bullcrap between innings — that drives me nutz. I’d like just one in-between inning per game without some freekin’ noise or commercials blasting. Ballpark sounds only…

  30. snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:13 pm

Dang. Giants bunt the runner over, then Pagan cashes in with the double and RBI. I am liking this hitting with RISP. Miller says 27 of 36 Giants runs so far have been with 2 outs…

  31. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:24 pm

    Nice play Panda

  32. Bozo said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:25 pm

Panda with the diving stop, love it.

  33. WilcoJoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:25 pm

Nice play panda! It’s amazing what 40 less pounds can do to your game.

    • WilcoJoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:26 pm

Of course I am not one to talk;)

  34. snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:34 pm

Perez in for Morse hits into a DP with a runner at 2nd. I would have liked Morse still hitting there. Then Perez could have come in starting this inning for D in LF…

  35. snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:39 pm

Bum at 100 pitches, they need to get somebody up…

    • snarkk said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:48 pm

Bochy slow on getting the Pen ready, now he’s got 3 guys on base to deal with. 114 pitches for Bum, it’s early in the season, he’s not stretched out yet. I don’t get that…

  36. WilcoJoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:57 pm

    What a throw…

  37. Flavor said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:57 pm

Gunned fucking down. With Ramirez on deck. Fucking idiotic 3rd base coach

  38. WilcoJoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:58 pm

Posey looked like he was too far from the plate.

    • Flavor said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:00 pm

Posey has had the advantage of practicing this swipe tag since he started doing it last year as opposed to most of the other catchers starting to do it this year.
And they lose the challenge. I love it! But I understand why Mattingly did it.

  39. Flavor said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:58 pm

One more run doesn’t do them any good. They needed HanRam to hit a bomb or a double with bases loaded. And Ellis is slow as fuck. Hahahahahaha!!!~

  40. WilcoJoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:58 pm

He looked safe on that replay.

    • WilcoJoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:59 pm

      Thank Christ!

  41. Macdog said, on April 5, 2014 at 3:59 pm

    Yer out!

  42. WilcoJoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:02 pm

Why the fuck is the final four on TBS? I have been flipping back and forth to CBS for the last 30 minutes wondering why the game wasn’t on.

    • Macdog said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:11 pm

The Cliff Notes version: “On April 22, 2010, a monumental 14 year, 10.8 billion dollar agreement was reached with Turner to receive joint broadcast rights along with CBS for the NCAA ‘March Madness’ college basketball tournament. TBS gets the final two rounds in even numbered years, with CBS getting the games in odd numbered years.”

    • sandy32koufax said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:11 pm

      Kale…that’s why.

  43. sandy32koufax said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:13 pm

Two days in a row LA comes out and looks like…a joke. Uribe still smoking it and playing third well. Bumgarner looked great today and what do I say about the jints bats? Hot seems about right.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:29 pm

Agree Sandy. Dodgers are for the most part flailing away their chances. .

  44. Wilcojoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:24 pm

    Huge DP!

      Yeah, very nice.

  45. DJLoo said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:26 pm

I think the Kershaw injury has them demoralized…

  46. blade3colorado said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:44 pm

This game is setting up perfect for tomorrow’s sweep, with the Bums using 7 relief pitchers today.

and you sir, are a quality Dodger fan. Don’t think I’ve ever put those 8 words together in written form before. :)

      Ditto. Enjoy your evening Sandy.

      • sandy32koufax said, on April 6, 2014 at 12:32 pm

Thx, B3C. Spent it on the boat bbqing and commiserating with the head of the stripper I’d caught Friday night. He wasn’t very talkative, though.

  50. Wilcojoe said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:56 pm

Great game all the way around…Bum, Casilla and Petit, outstanding defense, and some longball. Can’t ask for more.

  51. Bozo said, on April 5, 2014 at 4:56 pm

A solid win. Cainer tomorrow, we’re looking good.

  52. gianthead said, on April 5, 2014 at 5:41 pm

and we will leave LA regardless of tomorrow’s outcome in first place….

  53. sportdude said, on April 5, 2014 at 7:23 pm

Posey looked too far away to me too. Shocked that the call wasn’t overturned…Great win. Our best chance of winning division is 12/18 head to head. Of course way to early to think must win, but our number one vs their # 5 is game we should win..Good start…

  54. DJLoo said, on April 5, 2014 at 7:37 pm

Our best chance of winning the division is keeping Ker-fax on the DL as long as possible.

  55. snarkk said, on April 6, 2014 at 12:18 am
