Farewell to Candlestick Night at AT&T . You get this:

CP

I have unconfirmed reports that it does NOT bobble. Hey, that woulda been a pretty rad marketing give-a-way the year after the earthquake. What, too soon?

There were some cool pics shared on Twitter today from ‘Stick games. Here are some of them:

CP1This one was from some chick who’s dad worked at Candlestick in 1971. This is such an awesome pic on so many levels considering the scoreboard message.

CP2

Barry wheelin’ it big time on top of the dugout.

CP3

I got a few of these but I lost track of them years ago.

CP4

Can’t remember what year they said this pic was taken. I THINK it was ’71.

CP5

Brandon Crawford, bummin’ out hard on the possibility of his team moving to Florida…….

clown1

Bozo The Clown’s final game at the ‘Stick (ticket shown).

Flav, sent ya a photo of my last Giants ticket at the Stick. They were pretty cool.

    • Flavor said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:18 pm

      added! Thanks.

      • Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:42 pm

It was a good one, thanks man.

  2. WilcoJoe said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:12 pm

Great pics. Love the “too soon” line.

  3. WilcoJoe said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:27 pm

I have to admit, I am really digging this replay. It adds an extra element of excitement to the game…It also helps when the calls go in your favor.

  4. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:27 pm

Tick tock tick tock tick tock. And the instant replay reveals… You lost your Challenge Gibson, as Buster G uns down another runner!
And that Flappers is why we don’t move the best catcher in baseball to 3 rd Base!

  5. WilcoJoe said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:32 pm

I never understood those who complain that the game is too long…Baseball is my escape from reality. So if that means I don’t have to take out the trash or change a diaper for four hours, so fucking be it. Kind of like when I play golf, except I play fast and I despise slow golfers. However, if I finish in 3 and a half hours, that just means more time I can spend at the nineteenth hole.

    • Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:44 pm

      Touché Wilco,
Umps are winning all the delays in calls anyway, everyone that’s bang bang are just called inclusive in NY,as they could give a shit about the west coast !
Do like to play golf at a good pace as well, can’t stand watching some group in front of me taking angles from 4 directions over a fucking 3 footer then blowing it or leaving it short “”Alice”
That’s when the Nineteenth hole can’t come quick enough😄

    • Flavor said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:01 pm

I think that’s the longest I’ve gone without dumping a post in the POTD-Best of. Thanks, great post. I totally agree with every word of it.

  6. WilcoJoe said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:37 pm

If people are going to complain that the game is too long with replay, just limit the time you can review it to 60 seconds. If it takes more than a minute to decide, than the play is not conclusive and the call stands.

  7. DJLoo said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:40 pm

In the early 60’s my best friend, Stanley had the greatest toy on the block, a “Deluxe Mobile”:

Our favorite game was to pretend we were Marichal and Cepeda driving to Candlestick Park from Brooklyn, babbling to each other in fake Spanish. I could still have fun doing that today. Stanley’s probably outgrown it.

  8. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:43 pm

This is turning into a bullshit inning.

  9. sammy said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:54 pm

    Parradumbass helped.

  10. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 7:58 pm

Brandon Hicks and his Hot Licks!
    Money RBI base hit!

  11. willedav said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:03 pm

    Wow, nice rally.
Kat, Posey is solid, but as a C you lose his bat 30 games. At 3b he can play every single day and have a lot less to worry about physically or mentally…ask Matheny.
I bet Loo’s right–if Sando leaves Posey takes over.

    • DJLoo said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:10 pm

That’s gotta be the plan, Why else would they low ball him and refuse to negotiate?
Wish I could think of someone besides Torre who really pulled it off…

    • sammy said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:11 pm

He’d have a lot to worry about…namely looking like Bob Brenly.

      • DJLoo said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:21 pm

I guess you could say the guy he’d be replacing pulled it off…

  12. sammy said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:09 pm

    Stick a fork in Vsong.

  13. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:09 pm

    Yeesh.

  14. willedav said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:10 pm

And Vogs gives it right back.
Btw, thx for pic Bozo. Mt. Rushmore of Stick days.

  15. snarkk said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:10 pm

I guess Voggy’s mechanics are off again. Sheesh…

  16. Macdog said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:10 pm

How long before Petit gets his first start?

  17. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:10 pm

Now why is Vogs on the team ?
    Oh yeah Nicole’s blowing Boch..

  18. Flavor said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:15 pm

Anyone know what Zito is doing these days? Hey, does he seem more appealing at a min salary? I am only halfway kidding.

  19. snarkk said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:21 pm

Voggy must have stopped eating those chicken enchiladas…

  20. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:22 pm

I hope Ryan can get through the 4th inning. I’d hate to see him lose that solid 9.00 ERA

  21. DJLoo said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:27 pm

Petit showed more than enough last year to deserve a shot.
And his wife’s rack was major league caliber.

  22. snarkk said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:28 pm

Panda is doing all he can to solidify Sabes’ negotiating position…

  23. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:30 pm

Fuck,Pennington was off the bag and that phantom call can’t be reviewed? BS

  24. wswin said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:36 pm

Love Roger..I still have my Giants jacket with humm baby on the back…

    • sammy said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:38 pm

      Pretty damn sharp for 92!

  25. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:40 pm

Humm Baby still bringing good entertainment at 92!
Keep him around another inning cause it some how inspired Vogs to throw a 1-2-3 inning..

  26. DJLoo said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:42 pm

I’ve said it before. Giant managers tend to live long lives. You could look it up.

  27. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:44 pm

    Craw with the inside out.

  28. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:45 pm

Nice won Roger, little extra dig on steroids “Maybe steroids played a part in us losing in 89/ along with the quake!”

  29. Flavor said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:45 pm

    he’s not 92. He’s 84

  30. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:53 pm

Well so much for Roger’s advice to bunt it back to the pitcher.

  31. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:56 pm

Shit, Vogie can’t get the bunt down and there you go. DP.

  32. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 8:59 pm

Guess I’m seeing Cainer on Saturday. He needs a good start.

    • Nipper said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:19 pm

      SHIT!

  33. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:01 pm

If the humm-baby wants to say he’s 92 not 84 who am I to argue😄

    • Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:07 pm

Hey, those humm babies on board will age ya.

  34. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:01 pm

  35. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:02 pm

Voggie’s wife must have stopped eating smoked sausage.

    • Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:08 pm

      She started smoking pole?

      • DJLoo said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:14 pm

  45. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:29 pm

    Fuck. . . . . . .

  46. SanDawg said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:38 pm

That pic of Crawdad is proof that some guys are just cool from day one. He looks like he rules the first grade in that pic. He picks the teams, dominates the games, reads the fastest and has to fight the girls off with a stick.
I look at that photo and see a kid who is gonna go to UCLA on a full ride and play SS in the bigs. No doubt about it.

    • pawliekokonuts said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:05 pm

      yup

  47. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:44 pm

nice work by both Huff and Gutierez to get out of that jam.

    • Irish Kevin said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:06 pm

I thought that was Lopez to finish that off

  48. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:54 pm

All these baserunners are driving me nuts. Well.that and the Dubs blowing a 20 point lead.

  49. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:55 pm

    Where’s Blanco?

  50. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 9:56 pm

    Ah hhindsight but here’s Goldie…

  51. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:01 pm

Oh yeah a pitchers best friend . The base loaded back to Machi Man for the Home to 1st twin killing!

  52. pawliekokonuts said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:04 pm

Great relief pitching. Hey, is that REALLY Brandon Crawford in the pic? G’night, girls. Droopy eyes. (Love the POTD.)

  53. chipower9 said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:24 pm

Dropping in for a quick comment…and I am delayed on the game by 45 minutes to an hour. Just saw Morse’s second double of the night. Wow! Now this is what I was hoping to see from The Beast. He definitely thought that one was out. Okay…got to go blast through some commercials and try to catch up on this game.

  54. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:31 pm

    Ahh crap.

  55. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:33 pm

Real nice throw Panda, what’s that 3 errors or should be more this year!
    Twin’s GG guy NOT!

  56. sportdude said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:36 pm

Dubs are killing me. Don’t know if i should love Jackson for having Dubs in 6th in a tough west or hope he is fired for the ASTOUNDING number of loses to lousy teams. Playing down to the level of competition has to be on the coach at some point. Add DAMN Pablo…

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:38 pm

20 point lead and they completely fold up and hide. And then Pablo airmails the throw…

Casilla guts his way out of a big mess, and contract boy tosses one 10 feet over Belt’s head.

Christ. Way to play yourself into the dog house Panda.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:40 pm

The Dubs were getting killed on the boards and Jackson went small late.

I didn’t get that at all.

  57. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:43 pm

Let’s see if Pablo keeps up his shitty ways here.

  58. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:44 pm

    One time, Pablito.

  59. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:45 pm

    so close

  60. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:46 pm

Now that was funny . . . Fuck, he made up for his funny.

  61. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:46 pm

    Damn.

  62. sportdude said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:47 pm

Chuck..he went smal till the last play, then took out Jackson. Long shot with .5 but lame anyway. Where the hell is Bogut. Disappeared.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:49 pm

Fareed must have had 20 2nd chance points. They couldn’t buy a rebound. Bogut’s playing lazy.

  63. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:48 pm

I have a bad feeling about this.

  64. sportdude said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:49 pm

    Thompson

  65. sammy said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:50 pm

Love Curry bit don’t see the Warriors going past the first rd. Bogut is fucking useless now.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:55 pm

Shit. Esp with Lee on the shelf. Bogut’s hurt as well. Shame they are getting so dinged up at the end of the season. But if they took care of the games they should have all year, they could have coasted into the playoffs instead of scrapping til the end. \\\

Speaking of end, let’s end the fucking game.

  66. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:51 pm

Romo looks like he hurt himself

  67. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:53 pm

    Hooooooooooooooooooooboy.

WTF is Krook talking about? They took a building out of centerfield so it plays different??

  68. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:54 pm

Come on Giants, end this thing.

  69. Alleykat said, on April 10, 2014 at 10:57 pm

    Weirdness the new Torture!
This game is going on forever tonight!
Pagan right in the glove basket (weirdness drop ) for both teams.,

  70. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:05 pm

Yeah kat, seems like this game has gone on forever.

  71. sammy said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:06 pm

    Who follows Petit?

  72. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:11 pm

    Belt?

  73. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:15 pm

Wonderful. Pablo can wear this one.

  74. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:17 pm

The fucking Dubs blow a 20 point lead to the lowly Nuggets and the Giants E their way to a (possible) loss.

  75. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:21 pm

    Just need two, Giants.

  76. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:25 pm

    One?

  77. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:26 pm

Bleeeeeeeh Lose their first home series. Error city tonight.

  78. Bozo said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:27 pm

    That game wore me out.

  79. Macdog said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:27 pm

    That was frustrating.

  80. sportdude said, on April 10, 2014 at 11:50 pm

Draining night for Bay area sports:(

  81. snarkk said, on April 11, 2014 at 12:02 am

Panda = hit into double play and game costing throwing error = goat of the game. That and hitting below .150 is not exactly a way to raise the contract numbers. He may be pressing because of it…
