Game Time Mother’s Day Thread!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 11, 2014

Unfortunately, I know the reality of all mothers not being created equal. I got to spend the morning with my fantastic mother this morning and it was the perfect start to one of the best days of the year. I hope you all get to do the same or honor your mom however you see fit. Great day for a game. Go Giants.

Agree Flavor. I barely missed the snow storm (leaving Denver) flying into the SF bay area last night and am happy to be with my Mom in Sunnyvale . . . Where we are about to watch the Giants game.

You’re in town? Sweet. Wanna get some Gold’s action in while you’re here?

      • blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:19 pm

Absolutely. Give me a shout when you want to do this . . . Side note – only bad thing about being at my Mom’s house (at least until tomorrow, when they go on their Alaska cruise), is that I can’t yell “FUCK” at the top of my lungs when my fantasy players do a face plant as Gio Gonzalez and Marcus Stroman did today. :-)

This is the thread that should have been titled “Ouch”

  3. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:25 pm

Wow! Surprised Buster held on to that.

  4. DJLoo said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:26 pm

    Score one for The Swipester!

  5. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:33 pm

I’m fairly certain LA exported the “wave” to MLB parks. I’m happy the beach ball fad hasn’t had the same success.

  6. DJLoo said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:41 pm

I always thought it was Seattle, but really don’t know. Maybe they were just the best at it…

  7. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:50 pm

    Bone head play at 2nd.

  8. Manny said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:50 pm

Keystone Cops are way to being behind on that double.

  9. WilcoJoe said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:51 pm

I dont know if I have ever disliked a Giant as much as Adrianza. He should be DFA’d post haste.

    • DJLoo said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:55 pm

      He should be DFA’d posthumously.

  10. mannyman46 said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:51 pm

Our way, shit I can’t spell right I am so pissed

  11. DJLoo said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:58 pm

What a throw! And two for the Swipester!!!

  12. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 2:58 pm

Nice throw by Angel, with an assist by the turtle, Gonzales. Ha.

  13. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:03 pm

Lets the ball down the middle go by for a strike . . . The one almost hitting the dirt, a base hit single. Go figure.

  14. DJLoo said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:05 pm

    HOLY SHIT!!!!!

  15. mannyman46 said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:05 pm

    Hicks yeah mofos.

  18. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:06 pm

    Fuck you Kershaw!

  19. salty said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:08 pm

.what I especially like is Hicks acts as if he’s been doing this for years

  20. salty said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:12 pm

    Don’t hear much about scutaro

    • blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:15 pm

On rehab with Glass Sanchez in the Caribbean.

  21. WilcoJoe said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:16 pm

Is Hudson ok? He only threw 78 pitches.

  22. Flavor said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:17 pm

I know what his shortcoming are, his BA sucks and he’s got average to below average range. But his arm is strong and he hits dongs. If we had a healthy Scoots right now would you want him playing instead of Hicks? I don’t think I would…..

  23. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:23 pm

Sheesh, frickin’ hour later, New York renders their decision.

  24. Flavor said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:26 pm

ready for a mind blown stat?
Kershaw has throw 2,172 curve balls in his career. That is the first HR ever hit off his curve ball.

Best in the NL, dude makes all the plays!!

  27. DJLoo said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:34 pm

Much as I resented his Dodger-ness, it’s really sad that Don Drysdale is gone…

  28. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:39 pm

Thank you Donnie Baseball for not walking Buster.

  29. willedav said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:39 pm

Hudson at 78 was done. Besides the first pitch (aarrgh) belt high one on inside corner to Puig that left the yard, after the mistake by defense on Hanley’s ball he gave up 2 more hits. Good thing Pagan gunned down A Gon.

Boy, second guessers will be all over Mattingly for pitching to Posey with base open.

    • WilcoJoe said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:47 pm

Thanks Willied, I missed that half of the inning.

  30. Alleykat said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:41 pm

Donny 2 step fucks up another decision!
Pitching to a red hot Posey with 1 st base open? Buster made him shit in his pants! Thanks Donny

  31. Flavor said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:45 pm

I could give a shit less about a players “walk up” music and can’t believe it’s getting the attention it gets. I don’t even hear it, I’m watching the game.

  32. Flavor said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:46 pm

Scully now reporting the 1st regular season bomb vs ‘Shaw’s CU that I reported about 20 minutes ago. #scoopedbyflavor

  33. sportdude said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:47 pm

Hate the Dodgers. That said amazing factoid in OC register today. Greinke has TWENTY starts in a row with 2 runs or less. Next closest in baseball history is 14.

Decisions like that re Posey int walk and pitching to Sandoval. Unreal. Why anyone pitches to Posey ever with Sandoval behind his is crazy. A reminder when we are dissing his decisions occasionally that we are SO lucky to have Bochy

    • blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:57 pm

Sportdude – you are spot on. I know the bay area papers will discuss/mention this, but I am looking forward to reading the LA Times tomorrow and see what they say about Donnie Baseball’s faux pas. What an idiot.

  34. sportdude said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:47 pm

    Lopez??? Opps see previous post…

  35. WilcoJoe said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:54 pm

    Arias has to catch that!

  36. SanDawg said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:54 pm

Give me a fucking break. Arias can leave with Adrianza as far as I’m concerned.

    • blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:55 pm

      Agree. What a pussy.

    • Alleykat said, on May 11, 2014 at 4:02 pm

The AA boys can both go to AA meetings permanent!!

  37. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:54 pm

WTF Arias? Jeter would never have committed that screw up.

  39. Alleykat said, on May 11, 2014 at 3:57 pm

    YES!

  41. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 4:04 pm

Thank God Hicks doesn’t have a brain. Sorry, I had to say that. :-)

    • Alleykat said, on May 11, 2014 at 4:19 pm

      I liked it Blade.
That was a real head- scratcher to Hicks. If Wright threw the heater on that pitch, Hicks might of had to quit while you “AHEAD”

  42. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 4:22 pm

    Yes! Slider baffled him.

I’m not sure if there’s a worse current commercial than the Mercedes one with Sergio and his dad. It’s just awful. Anyway, I’m wondering if his dad high fived the dude next to him after that Hanley dong or if he said “FUCKING WHORE” like I did……

  70. sportdude said, on May 11, 2014 at 4:57 pm

Any word on if something is wrong with Lopez? Seemed like many chances to use him today.

  71. sportdude said, on May 11, 2014 at 5:05 pm

What a game. 3/4 form LA. YES!!

  72. blade3colorado said, on May 11, 2014 at 5:06 pm

Great game and series. Knocked their ACE out of the game. Knocked their CLOSER out of the game. Only thing we didni’t do was rape, pillage, and destroy LA. Have a safe flight home boys! :-)

  73. Macdog said, on May 11, 2014 at 5:06 pm

    3 of 4– yessssssss!

  74. willedav said, on May 11, 2014 at 5:07 pm

Yeah, 3 out of 4 in their latrine.. L for Jansen and Kershaw got bailed out of one.

Enjoy third place, and all it cost you.

  78. Flavor said, on May 11, 2014 at 5:28 pm

I am a MIchael Sam fan, I wished the Niners had drafted him (especially late). I support gay marriage. My boss is gay and I love her. But I’m not down with this pic posted right after he got drafted:

You just barely got drafted. Be humble. Focus on the task ahead. If Manziel had posted a pic like this (yes, I know it was his boyfriend and not Sam who posted this) people would have called him out as a fool.
Are you about succeeding in the NFL? Or are you about carrying the gay pride torch? Seriously question. And if the answer is “both” then tone it down, do something in the NFL and then start posting pics like this.
    End of rant……..

    • DJLoo said, on May 11, 2014 at 5:33 pm

      The Rams just cut him…

  79. stickman said, on May 11, 2014 at 6:19 pm

How do you spell S_A_T_I_S_F_A_C_T_I_O_N ? Get knocked down in the bottom of the 9th where your closer gets dingered by HanRam to tie the score and then come back vs their closer, Kenley Jansen, and tack on a trio to pop em, take the series in the LaBumbos own latrine and come off a taxing 10 game road-trip with a 7-3 happy flight back to SFO, leading the Rox by two and the Bums by 4.5 in the NLW and presently enjoying the best record in the game. Oh, and to add irony to insult, Romo not only gets his first blown save of the season but also his 3rd W.

Are we in their heads yet? Or as Yahoo Sports described today’s adventure, Giants defeat the “worst team Money can buy”.

    Missed the entire game.
Highlights show that I missed a lot. Looks like a great game. Great win. Great roadie…

  82. zumiee said, on May 11, 2014 at 7:48 pm

Bochy’s a genius with that Murderers’ Row lineup today! :)
The Bench From Hell played like……the bench from hell, but others rose to the occasion, and lifted the Giants to victory. Hicks’ HR off Kershaw sent the same kind of message that Pill’s HR against Kershaw did in 2012: ‘Not THIS year, Kersh.’
Tough break for Romo; but, hey, what a TOTALLY AWESOME way for a pitcher to vulture a win. It’ll be legendary. :) :)

  83. zumiee said, on May 11, 2014 at 8:24 pm

Pretty funny from Sandoval, quoted by Pavlovic at the Merc:

What was Sandoval’s reaction to hitting cleanup?

“He was pretty excited with where he hit today,” Bochy said. “He asked me how much I had to drink last night.”

    • zumiee said, on May 11, 2014 at 8:27 pm

Or maybe Bochy just made up the quote, but whatever, congrats to Sandoval on his great game, and all the Giants for a terrific win, series, and roadtrip.

    wow.

  85. unca_chuck said, on May 11, 2014 at 8:42 pm

Missed the game. I figured 3 hours would be enough with Kersh and Hudson going.

Damn. Yeah, we’re down an infielder but Adrianza is not making hay at this point. Abreu HAS to be rotated up and adios Adrianza.

  86. SanDawg said, on May 11, 2014 at 8:55 pm

I can’t remember the last time I was that jacked over a win before the All Star break. We beat Kershaw. That alone is huge. Then, throw in that we beat him in LA with Arias, Adrianza, and Perez all in the starting line-up! And, we came up off the mat after Hanley’s homer to pull out the win over Jansen. Throw in a bunch of great defensive plays and many other exciting/frustrating plays and it was one of the most entertaining games I’ve ever seen.

  87. unca_chuck said, on May 11, 2014 at 9:09 pm

Pablo with 3 hits?!? Him hitting again would be a Godsend with Belt out.

Just saw the highlights of the end of the game. Crazy shit.

Even crazier, Romo gets the win, Machi the save. Don’t see that every day.

    • snarkk said, on May 11, 2014 at 9:20 pm

I’m going to keep demanding Bochy sit Panda for a few days. I figure I should keep doing it until Pablo is back up to .285…

  88. wswins said, on May 11, 2014 at 9:55 pm

I would like to say I hope this game removes all the negativity and quote on quote predictions forever.
was a beautiful series and an outstanding road trip. the only thing that went wrong today was that Hudson didn’t get the win
