A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Road Trip Rambles On….

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 8, 2010

Next up, “Sam Lecure”. I do not fear this Sam Lecure. He’s part “Eric Hacker” with a little “Kevin Pucetas” thrown in for taste. Cain deserves a few of these games. After we feast on this fool we face off Judgement Day and find out who are starter will be Wednesday. We know it won’t be Bumgarner who started last night. Does Welly get thrown to the wolves again? Might Iron Head Joe get the call?

Burrell going back on a ball is not a fun thing to watch..
Strasburg is toying with these guys. They’re late on everything….and yet the movement he’s got on his pitches is astounding.

  2. Craig said, on June 8, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Xoot: totally agree. And I think the last 4 fbs were all 93 mph but Im not certain. I’m watching the nats gm too

  3. xootsuit said, on June 8, 2010 at 5:43 pm

mlb gameday shows a 91 mph “changeup” from Strasburg.

  4. snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 5:47 pm

I’m with you Xooty. Sometimes watching Cain I wonder WTF is the approach he’s taking? His pitch count gets way up there early because he keeps throwing FBs into the zone, and so can’t put a guy away…

  5. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 5:47 pm

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, the CFers glove was upside down on Uribe’s ball. I think he trapped it but the glove hid the trap…

  6. Craig said, on June 8, 2010 at 5:49 pm

He just threw a ball 103 in the 7th….. With late fucking movement lol!

  7. snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 5:58 pm

I don’t have MLB, so I’ll see Strasburg on the replays tonite. Sounds like the Giants are going to strike out in double digits when they’re in DC sometime between July 9-11…

  8. macdog said, on June 8, 2010 at 5:59 pm

Elsewhere around MLB, potential Reyes HR under review.

  9. TedSpe said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Huh. A 1-0 game in Cincinatti going into the 7th. Who’da thunk

  10. macdog said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:01 pm

    And it’s outta here! Mets-Pads 1-1.

  11. San Dog said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:04 pm

Miller just said Torres is 4th in the NL in doubles. Did I hear that right? If so, that is damn impressive.

  12. alleykat said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:06 pm

Shit 14K’s 0 walks in 7innings.Yeah pretty successful debut for Strasburg.Hype sure didn’t affect him.

  13. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:19 pm

Hell, we’ll just play ’em 3 against 9 :pitcher, Uribe, Torres..

  14. snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:23 pm

Friggin Torres is makin up for lost years. Double to right, super catch in center. Panda has got to lay off that high fastball, or the league will keep feedin it to him and gettin him out. Looks like Cain may need to hit an HR himself here to get some breathing room…

  15. willied said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:34 pm

Nice shot by Benjie, and Cain. Hold the m-fs off and we got another W.

  16. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:34 pm

The score going to the bottom of the 8th:
    Bochy 3
    Baker 0

  17. macdog said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:35 pm

    That’ll work too, Snarkk!

  18. snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:36 pm

They bascially walked Posey to get to Bengie, so good on him for finally getting an RBI knock. That probably gives him another month of starts. It wasn’t an HR, but Cain can friggin hit and that third run he pushed over sounds good. Nice two out rally…

  19. snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:40 pm

Wow, nice break for the Gyros. The first base umps are sure giving lots of reasons to bring in instant replay protests for bang bang calls at first…

  20. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:45 pm

Torres is just amazing. Guys who are in their early 30’s don’t all of a sudden spring out from nowhere and do this. This is our “Bryce Harper” only in reverse……

  21. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Benjie and Cain: 3 for 8. I like those last 2 spots in the order….:)

  23. Max808 said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Kudos to Cain. What a run he’s on.

  24. willied said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Down! Pitching pitching pitching, and the D. Sf has more than Cincy, and has just as many HRs this series.

  25. alleykat said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Yes sir! Matt the Stud Cain dealing a CG.Sweet!!!!!!!!!

  26. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:03 pm

Cain is just off the hook right now. And the crazy thing is, I keep thinking he’s throwing too many fastballs the same speed. And yet, shutout. Suck on that Strasburg…..

  27. Kevin said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:04 pm

Matt the horse!! All the clowns on the Splash who have posted in the past that the Giants should trade this guy for a hitter are fools!!

  28. bozolay said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:05 pm

A complete game in that ballpark, Fuck yeah.

Bozo hugs his Cainy bear, sniffles!

  29. macdog said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:05 pm

He’s not about to steal tonight’s spotlight from the “Nat-ural,” but what a helluva game by Matty.

  30. snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:05 pm

Super game for Cain. Shutout in that yard is a real trophy win, plus he gets an RBI. Torres in CF works for me, the dude is something else right now. And Burrell looks like a pro at the plate, better than I expected. They can’t do worse than 4-3 on the trip — I’m OK with this lineup for a while

  31. stixwiz said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Matt the Horse. What a performance! Giants pitchers have had some good ABs in this series. Cain is not only the Horse. He’s also the Man! Timmy has some giddyup to do and soon or the Mattster takes over the Ace role on this team. Cain vs. Strasburg. I think it would top a Halliday-Lincecum duel.

One HR in the whole game and who’s it gonna be ~ OOOORiiiBE!

  32. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:13 pm

the thing I especially like right now is the late inning defensive replacements. Ishi in for Posey, Nate comes in for Burrell. It totally works…..

  33. macdog said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:14 pm

Ike Davis walk-off HR, Mets beat Pads!

  34. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:14 pm

“I’m OK with this lineup for a while”… too fucking funny. Don’t be. It will keep changing.
Ike Davis wins it for the Mets. 2-1 in 11.

  35. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:15 pm

Bochy seems to be *managing* these line ups. Shit ass Rowand and Molina aren’t playing every game together and that’s a good thing. Give them alternating days off, maybe a co-day off to smoke some pole and eat cheese burgers, a game a week where they both get to go 1-8 and then repeat. Money!

  36. stixwiz said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:21 pm

Crazy day and evening here in the Northwoods. Had to shut the system down in the third because of a thunderstorm. Got the old iMac going fine for the top of the Eighth and was in time for that third run. All is fine on the system Twin contributed, but that used monitor didn’t wanna fire up after the power got restored to the system. Weird. Glad i’m on a cooperatively owned ISP. Will get another visit from troubleshooter tomorrow. If its the monitor itself and not some connexion, its a 40 mile drive to Chieftown to buy a new one.

Oh well, it all goes down so much easier with Cainer getting a CG shutout. Reminds me of Mary Poppins’ line: “Just a little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down, in a most delightful way.”

    32-25 on a Pittsburgh-Cincinnati road-trip ~ a WINNING tour though “Indian Country”.
After that hiatus in May this is once again looking like a playoff team. Were Torres playing in Japan right now instead of being picked up by Sabean & Co., the Japanese would be hollering “Torres, Torres, Torres” instead of “Tora, Tora, Tora.”

  37. Unca Chuck said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:36 pm

Cain is on a total lights-out run here. Good to see him getting the wins.

Nice job by Starasburg as well. As for hioping he fucks up, well that’s Roon B shit . . .

  38. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:36 pm

Pablo had a good night at the plate. Rhodes got him but he was on base 3 times and on the DP he went up the middle, it was a good play to turn that. The hit by Bengie could be big for them. Until/if he’s moved, he’s going to play. I get the sense that a lot of you would prefer he fail. Dumb.

  39. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:39 pm

” As for hioping he fucks up, well that’s Roon B shit . . .” It’s not “hoping he fucks up”, ChuckleShitz, it’s wanting the Bucs to stand up and be counted. The notion that it’s all Strasburg and nobody else is bullshit.

  40. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:41 pm

And man, edit your fucking posts before you post ’em. Pathetic.

  41. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:45 pm

*Everyone* has to root for Strasburg? That gets your ass tossed from Room B, ChuckleFuckle.

  42. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:50 pm

twin you WANT us to be rooting against Benjie, it’s perfect fodder for the “you against the blog” shit you like to set up. You feel the exact same way as the rest of us, you want Molina out of here. The fantasy you have that we all want him to fail when he’s actually up at fucking bat is absurd………

  43. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:57 pm

Fuck you. Look at Snarkklefuck’s post. He was practically puking ( again) after Bengie got his hit. “That probably gives him another month of starts. “.. he fucking HATED it. As did you. I KNOW you guys…

  44. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 7:59 pm

save it for Room B. Thinking any of us want The Whipping Boys to make out when they are at bat is just your fantasy. Again, you love it, it’s another reason to set yourself up as you v-world……..

  45. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:00 pm

I might have to take over the main house and move you over to B , Flavor.

    • freshtodef80 said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:08 pm

Well I know Friscozig was wishing for Molina and Renteria to get hurt. Not a surprise.

  46. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Here’s the dumb fuck POTD, BTW:
“I’m with you Xooty. Sometimes watching Cain I wonder WTF is the approach he’s taking? His pitch count gets way up there early because he keeps throwing FBs into the zone, and so can’t put a guy away…”

  47. delmardennis said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:03 pm

I can’t seem to find Chuck’s Roon (sic) B shit. What’s the secret password?

  48. Unca Chuck said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:04 pm

Shit, Mike. What a ittle bitch you are.

Did I say everyone has to root for Strasburg? No. I think people hoping he fails is sour grapes. Or jealousy.

It’s my opinion, fuck-o. Don’t like it? Don’t fucking read it.

  49. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:08 pm

Cain has had an amazing last few weeks. He’s as tough as any pitcher in MLB these days. All the media attention will be on the new kid tonight, but Cain has quietly risen to the upper echelon of pitchers. The Giants continue to fly under the radar of the national media, and I don’t mind. A nice quiet ride to the playoffs is fine with me.
    —-
Speaking of playoffs, there’s a pretty hard-fought NBA game going on.

  50. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:13 pm

XOOT– “quiet” is the operative word. 35 innings (or so I think that’s about it), 1 earned run. That even beats Ubaldo…….

  51. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:14 pm

There have been many wishing that Bengie and Aaron fail. Denying that is a fucking joke. Realizing that Molina is nearing the end of a productive career is not the same as celebrating it…

  52. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:20 pm

    Astros beat Rocks.

  53. delmardennis said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:23 pm

    I thought paper beat rocks.

Celtics making a game of it. Fucking Gasol. He’s the goddamn busboy of Room B if you ask me.

  54. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:25 pm

we’re all fools for doubting the “Rowlina” team, right Twin? Doomers till the end….Then when it’s finally over for them it’s “you’re all fuckwad’s for not appreciating their careers”…It’s not that, it’s just that SOME of us saw the writing on the wall about these guys sooner than you did………

  55. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:26 pm

but we are all happy that you caught up to us……

  56. bozolay said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:29 pm

I’m not going through all the posts to find out where someone wanted Molina, Rowand or for that matter, Wellemeyer to fail. I for one wish that each of those guys (and there have been many more over the years), prove me wrong when I THINK they are going to fail. I think that’s a big difference Twin, hoping they don’t fail versus wanting them to fail.

  57. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:32 pm

“It’s not that, it’s just that SOME of us saw the writing on the wall about these guys sooner than you did………”
Actually not, I’ve outlined the map on both for you. I’m delighted you’ve been able to follow for a change. While you fucks were just bitching, I told you how it would go: Buster beginning to take over in June, Rowand beginning to lose starts to Burrell… look, you’re still burned with your idiocy on Torres, I can dig it. But in future: pay attention.

  58. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:35 pm

    Barn-burner in Boston.

  59. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:39 pm

Bozo: *I* know the difference, some here don’t. Flavor practically launched his blog on Molina tit jokes. Bengie has never deserved the ridicule and the enmity he’s been subjected to here and on the other sports blogs. It’s a fucking disgrace. As to Rowand, there are probably fifty pages of Snarkklefuck attacks if you google it. And of course the scum Snarkk practically owns POTD if he goes to attack dog mode. Absolute bullshit…

  60. San Dog said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Hey Zumie—thanks for playing along with the NFL nostalgia bit I was trying to work last night. Forest Blue and Ted Kwalick were nice calls….

is Garnett looking any better tonite? He looked like a shell of his old self the other night.

  61. delmardennis said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:43 pm

It’s not Garnett, it’s Ray Allen tonight. Couldn’t miss last game, can’t make any tonight; 0-14

  62. bozolay said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Cain just pitched a complete game shutout on the banks of the Ohio. Hope y’all don’t mind if I’m very happy about that.
Everyone here knows it’s not the King and his Court out there.
To all Flappers, B roomers and Clubbers alike, cheers.

  63. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Dog, I love Garnett, but it’s almost amazing how “old” he plays now.

  64. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:46 pm

“Cain just pitched a complete game shutout on the banks of the Ohio. Hope y’all don’t mind if I’m very happy about that.” I sure as hell don’t mind. Snarkk is still bitching about his pitch count…

  65. delmardennis said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:47 pm

  66. bigflavor said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:49 pm

  67. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:49 pm

With Snarkk it’ll always be: “The Giants won, but (fill in the blank.)

  68. stixwiz said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:49 pm

Drrrty against Harang tomorrow evening. Seems like the Reds hit lefties better than RHers, but right about lately Giants have been beating everybody and on the ROAD. This is the kinda team Pollys had in mind anticipating the return of Sanchez and the appearance of Posey. All this has been happening with double-Cy sputtering a bit and Pablo going all hyperanxious more often than not. A bit better lately, but he’s still not up to Kung Fu Panda standards.

This lineup is getting close. I’m still thinking Sandoval needs to be dropped down for a bit. Now that we pretty much know he’s for real how bout Buster batting behind Sanchez in the sweetspot. Maybe Uribe in cleanup for awhile, giving him a better shot at the RBI crown, Huff the Magic Dragon in the fifth position and then Pablo. Needless to say, once Sandoval gets it all working again, he returns to either third or cleanup. But all in all, this bunch of hitters is getting it done by the time the game is over. Those come from behind victories have given the whole team a new look.

Sputtering for awhile till new roles got formulated, the Bullpen has gone amazing on us. Bochy pulls another two or three relievers off the trashheap and they go golden, much like Miller and Medders last season. Got to credit both Sabean and the scouting and development system. San Francisco knows pitching. Mota becoming the setup man couldn’t have come at a better time with Romo on and off and Affeldt hors de combat for a spell. Bautista has been a pleasant surprise and Casilla pure serendipity. And Wilson is effective MOST of the time.

Starting pitching remains the strength of this ballclub and currently Matt the Horse is the Ace. Timmy will come around. Zito pitched fairly well last night, considering the venue. Drrrty is gaining in maturity and poise, almost by the game. Four guys who could be the #1 ace on many a team. Bumgarner and his becoming legendary attitude is just around the corner. I still think that Baltimore game on the 15th is where we see him.

Role players like Ishikawa, Schierholtz and Whiteside have contributed. RentMan will return sooner or later ~ DeRosa likely MUCH later. And how bout Burrell? He may not get many starting assignments in venues like SD and LA, but he could flat out rake in Colorado and Arizona. He sure has been a good move in Pittsburgh and Cincy.

If Sanchez holds em tomorrow and those hitters keep peppering the horsehide, maybe a Wellemeyer start on Thursday would not be the end of the world. Imagine taking 3 of 4 from the Reds in their own bandbox. That happens and even some of those Eastcoast sports mavens might discover there is a team in San Francisco.

  69. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:52 pm

Yeah, Dennis, one of the all-time flop performances in the finals from Allen, especially after the great performance the other night.
Wow- Fischer in tears after the game.

Please tell me the Lakers lost.

  71. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:55 pm

Stix, I’m one of those that would like to see Posey stay down the batting order a bit. I like keeping his comfort level where it is. Let the veterans deal with the added pressure of being higher in the order. Everything’s going well. It ain’t broke. Let’s not fix it.

  72. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:56 pm

I can’t tell you that, Dog.

  73. twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:56 pm

    From Baggarly:
“The Giants bullpen has worked a grand total of one inning in Matt Cain’s last four starts. Like he jumped back in time and became Marichal. ”
Yeah, that pitch count is just killin’ ’em..
Stix, moving Posey to the three is a REAL bad idea, way too much for a kid just up. Why the fuck would anyone want to fuck with him? Leave him 6 or 7, it’s working FINE… and leave Panda the fuck alone as well. I’d guess his biggest problem now is too much advice… he’ll be over .300 and be their best hitter when the year is done. As always: book it, twin said it…

  74. zumarust said, on June 8, 2010 at 8:58 pm
