A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

New Line UP

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 11, 2010

Torres RF
Sanchez 2B
Posey 1B
Uribe SS
Burrell LF
Molina C
Sandoval 3B
Rowand CF
Lincecum SP

Things I like: Switching Posey and Sandoval, Burrell instead of Huff (he’s right handed plus he’s one of the best we have at taking walks)

That was mighty white of Affeldt to set it for Wilson to get the save opportunity. 😉

Didn’t catch much of the game except the Posey triple. Loved the head first dive. Took sone walks and a couple of well timed bombs. Nice.

Should Nate have made the earlier play? I didn’t see that one, only heard the groans. Didn’t see a replay.

  4. delmardennis said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:37 pm

    Ballgame!

  5. Craig said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:38 pm

How do u not swing at that????? Nice win. Different line up against gio resulted in more preferred results

  6. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:39 pm

“Should Nate have made the earlier play?Yes, he should have. And he shouldn’t have swung at the backfoot slider that nearly hit him- AGAIN. But hey, he’s another Jesus here…

  7. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:41 pm

“How do u not swing at that?????” You don’t swing at it because your name is Cliff Pennington and you’re hitting .208…

The A’s look ok, even shorthanded. This was no gimme win. Still, I like the Giants’ chances at a sweep. Sure hope Zito gets by his A’s jinx tomorrow night. We’ll be there, cheering him on.

Anybody remember yesterday’s game? I really don’t recall much about it. . . . Nice to move on.

  9. alleykat said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Yeah and we drafted a kid in the 20th round by the name of Brett “Big Head”Bochy!

  10. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:45 pm

Well, one year didn’t Guillen draft his niece or some bullshit like that?

  11. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:46 pm

This SHOULD be the LU tomorrow, flip Buster and The Bat if you need to get Jesus higher :
    Torres RF
    Sanchez 2B
    Sandoval 3B
    Huff 1B
    Uribe SS
    Burrell LF
    Posey C
    Rowand CF

  12. Macdog said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:48 pm

Bombs by Burrell and Bengie, a near-bomb by Buster and 8 solid innings by Timmy. It doesn’t get much better than that.

  13. delmardennis said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:51 pm

I got no problem with taking Bochy’s kid, hope it works. Apparently was a very good closer at KU. WTF is gonna happen to their basketball team now? Nowhere to go. The NCAA is one complete an utter fucking joke. Can’t wait till all the teams just disband from that godforsaken institution and tells them to fuck off.

  14. Craig said, on June 11, 2010 at 9:53 pm

Dumb line up. Panda continues to do nothing. Bochy has figured it out u should try catching up to him and re-configure that. But I know u won’t, venom is likely to follow. Why don’t u send boch an e mail instead?

  15. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:03 pm

Oh, my line ups are nearly always right on, you actually know that. Panda is not staying in the seven. He may not be back in the 3 tomorrow, but I woudn’t bet on him not being there. He will be soon enough, it’s just a waste the longer he bats elsewhere.

  16. zumarust said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:08 pm

That’s a good lineup, TF, though I think Bochy will reward Benjie for the homerun, and give him the start. That makes the outfield a tricky proposition. Maybe Bochy gives Huff a try out in that vast rightfield?

  17. Nipper said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:09 pm

It’s all good when the Giants win. Sure Pablo will be back at the three. Changing things up is Bochy’s speciality so this to be expected. Good win.

  18. Craig said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:10 pm

Weird post. I kept waiting for “fuckwad” or “panda will leave the 3 hole when *I* say he will. Either way, not really following u. Maybe we need another Nate thread in room b. That was cutting edge shit it could be time to explore that again.

  19. zumarust said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:10 pm

Are the Giants undefeated on Friday homegames in the orange jerseys? I think they are, but I can’t remember.

  20. zumarust said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:12 pm

I think Bochy will likely go with Panda at 3 when he’s batting lefthanded, and lower in the lineup when he’s batting righthanded.

  21. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:15 pm

I think he will catch Buster, Xooty, but I could be wrong, as rare as that is. I’ve posted since ST that Buster would begin taking over in June, I think that’s a foregone conclusion now, especially after Edgar is back. He’ll be starting a couple behind the plate then, and be the regular by August. Sigh. I tire of telling you all this, especially while getting accused of not liking him . This started when GASP!! I said he hit a lot of ground balls. Blasphemer! Heathen scum!

  22. delmardennis said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:16 pm

Indeed they are, zum. Giants now a perfect 5-0 on Orange Fridays.

  23. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:18 pm

Fuck, I see Aardsma blew it to the Pads. 0-4, 4 blown saves 5.95 ERA… I said he was horseshit closer. Took a ration for that. I was soooooo wrongo…

  24. delmardennis said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:23 pm

For some strange reason, I thought it was Juan, and not Bengie who homered tonight. As evidenced by my 8:54 comment…Where’s the love for the Juan-Gone home run? Shit. Nice shot Uribe! Sorry, Bengie, I owe you one.

  25. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:29 pm

“For some strange reason, I thought it was Juan, and not Bengie who homered tonight” That’s not terribly uncommon. I’m sure other flappers have done it. In his rush to “rest” him, Xooty forgot Rowand homered yesterday. Last year Rowand was getting blasted while his homers were still in the air. It’s wishful thinking, fuckwad style.

  26. xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:30 pm

(huh?) Anyway, dropping Pablo in the order tonight was smart. He’s still working his way out of his slump and he had to bat RH against a good lefty tonight. Right side has been particularly bad for him. So, good, but simple enough decision. Tomorrow? Lot’s of possibilities.

Buster is just damn good and getting better. He’s not as startling as Pablo or Lincecum were when they came up, but in his own way he’s really fun to watch. There’s a lot of fire under that low-key persona. Whether in the short term he stays at 1B primarily, or moves behind the plate, he’s definitely a big part of the future. Nice to see something working out so well.

  27. xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:32 pm

And, as I pointed out on the other thread, TF, your mischaracterization of my comment on Rowand is dishonest. Just cut the crap.

  28. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Rest and sit are synonymous in the context you used. Just say you were drunk , it works for Chuck.

  29. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:42 pm

Why don’t you put your advocate status to good use and tell the shitheads in Room B that suspending Roethlisberger is illegal, and would be overturned if challenged? That will tell me about your grasp of the law. Unbelievable that anyone can argue that it’s legal because the union agreed to it. Let’s hear your take. Anything other than agreeing with me puts you squarely in the Motel Fuckwad…

  30. xootsuit said, on June 11, 2010 at 10:59 pm

The key to the sentence I wrote was the verb “use.” You just missed the point and the context, completely. I understand why. It was just a throw away fillip in a very modest post musing on what tonight’s lineup might look like. You were looking for something to attack. But it’s a trivial matter, in every respect, or should be.

As to my grasp of the law, Craig has my name. Check me out. You may see evidence related to my grasp of the law. Maybe not. In any event, I could not care less about Roth . . . . Barry Bonds, however, I pay attention to, for several reasons.

  31. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 11:03 pm

I never look for anything to attack, the stuff just falls in my lap.

  32. twinfan said, on June 11, 2010 at 11:07 pm

When you take into account that over the last homestand, the road trip, and now tonight that they are 11-6 and it’s been a DISAPPOINTING stretch… I figure them even more to win this division pretty handily when it’s done…

    • eddacker415 said, on June 12, 2010 at 12:24 am

      Woo Hoo! (winning the division)
      right on (11 and 6)
great observation (it has been disappointing)

and yet they are winning, disappointing in that we feel they can play better and ALWAYS disappointing to those doomer posters

  33. Sportdude said, on June 12, 2010 at 12:42 am

    Batting Pablo 7th is dumb…

Giants don’t own th A’s. did you not see the sweep they put on us earlier in the year?

  34. mrmrbill said, on June 12, 2010 at 1:34 am

I can’t tell who to root for anymore. On this thread, if one enjoys the Giants it may be for all the wrong reasons that I simply enjoyed them winning a game, so it’s fuckwad anyway. Or, if one enjoys the Giants still, yet has some critical observation, it’s still fuckwad anyway.

And I hate Oakland. Should I root for them anyway? Liking Giants here is a minefield … never know what “boof” bearing ammunition ball surprise will get stepped on if a comment is about Wilson, or Posey, or Rowand or Sandoval, or the batting order, or squeeze plays. This just got a really lot less fun over recent time.

I’m past caring about the LU…and the time and vitriol spent on it. I think Bochy was disappointed in Pablo output and felt he needed a smarter effort to win. Offense lately has not been the issue, and the guys have been scoring runs wherever they are.

Twin’s LU is fine with me too…I’d say that’s the least of SF worries these days. At some point, Bochy is going to have to face leaving his starters in/going straight to wilson and bypassing his fuckwad set up guys. No way Wilson should have been necessary last night.

Xoot, Nate made a funny looking effort at the triple: took a bad angle (not back enough with the first steps) and then dove and missed it completely. He might have been able to cut it off if he stayed on his feet and held the guy to a double with his arm, imo. Kind of a dumb play with the big lead.
