A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Time For the Team to Get FOCUSED. Quick, Everyone take some Adderall~

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 3, 2010

Ha, kidding. Tonight is nose-to-the-grind time. I don’t think Colorado is a better overall team than we are but they do play extremely well in their park 35-18 (who doesn’t, right?). This is a time for Dirrrrty to step up. He has never pitched well against Colorado, either in their park or ours—6.25 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in COl (he’s even a little worse than that in SF V them). It’s not the hits so much as the walks, he’s 23 free passes in 31.1 innings in Denver. That tells me he’s tripping on the park a bit and trying to be too fine,  living on the corners. Dude just need to trust his stuff……

Despite the lack of confidence I have in Dirrrrty tonight, the TEAM couldn’t be heading into this series with more confidence. No one is in a major slump and we’re getting contributions from pretty much everyone on the team. Lopez is probably going to appear in both 0f these games. It’s nice to know the bullpen has been revamped in a positive way as we head into this tricky little 6 game road trip…..

Sabean’s move in getting Freddy the Runt is looking better all the time.

  2. PawlieKokonuts said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:13 pm

I take delight in the Astros kicking the Cardinals’ ass tonight and the Yanks tumbling out of first. Make all the moves you want; game ain’t played on ESPN’s sim screens.

Don’t go all postal, boys. It was a nice grab for a midget.

  4. alleykat said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:14 pm

Super catch by Freddy saves the Giants some misery! Damn 3 walks by 3 different pitchers not what you want to see.

  5. bigflavor said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:16 pm

    It’s 7 fucking nothing…..

  6. Michael said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:16 pm

I still say you want your second place hitter running faster than Big Titty.

  7. alleykat said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:17 pm

Speaking of midgets…When is the appropriate time to slap a midget?

Ans…When he tells you, your wife hairs smells good!

Kat – Speaking of midgets. one of the best western movies I ever saw was ‘The Terror of Tiny Town’.

Give the guy a break. He’s got like one foot.

  9. Michael said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:21 pm

I’ve told you, he reminds me of a little terrier I used to have. Sammie ran in a circle before he did anything. Freddy does that. He’s a cute little tyke, Freddy.

  10. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:24 pm

Hanrahan just stopped Cincinnati for a 7-6 Pirates win. WC looking better and better, but that’s not what we are shooting for.

the central would surprise me as the wild card…

  11. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:27 pm

Ever since Sabean shipped off Bengie for Chris Ray, things have been looking better and better. I like this guy. Runzler may be getting close to returning. BP is on a nice uptick. More and more Ray is going into the setup role.

  12. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:28 pm

Travis is hitting like he can hear Belt’s footsteps.

  13. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:30 pm

Flav, hopefully that Franchez catch did not cost you the parlay!!!

  14. xootsuit said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:31 pm

I’m pleased to see Freddy’s bad knee and bad shoulder holding up. I mean, man, I’ve just had a regular hard life, no professional sports sort of pounding. Yet when I wake up in the morning and have to test the sciatica, check the lat strain, take a hot shower before I can do any yoga — I tell ya, I think about those guys who pound themselves every day. Especially the ones with serious injuries, like Freddy.

  15. wswinb4igo said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:33 pm

    Yungo!!!

  16. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:33 pm

    cash that parlay baby!

  17. wswinb4igo said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:34 pm

gives flav the win….all by themselves…

  21. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:35 pm

Torrid Torres! This team has gone offensively ballistic.

  22. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:35 pm

    Adderall? Addemup.

  23. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:36 pm

Flav, did you go parlay as I suggested?

  24. Michael said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:36 pm

Poor Freddy, what a rough fucking life.

  25. PawlieKokonuts said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:36 pm

Oops. Time delay. And Torres provides an emoticon.

  26. Michael said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Got that OPS over .650 tonight. Lad be rakin’!

    • wswinb4igo said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:44 pm

his job besides his “d”, is like what was done in the 1st inning. He swings Torres is at 2b…that doesn’t show up in the OPS. When he didn’t swing, torres caught stealing.

  27. bigflavor said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:40 pm

No gh, no parlay. Not with dirrrrty and his 6.75 era at coors on the mound. It all worked out. Great game

  28. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:41 pm

Nineteen hit attack. Burned that Colorado BP pretty bad. This sure looks like a World Series bound team. Now i’m looking forward to these two road trips vs Colorado, Atlanta, St. Louis and Philadelphia.

  29. alleykat said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:43 pm

Blade…Hope they save some more of this onslaught for you tomorrow.Wanna hear about your Rockie fan crying in his beer.

  30. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:43 pm

Now looks like everyone in the bullpen wants to be the setup guy…he is throwing smoke!

  31. Unca Chuck said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:45 pm

    3 pitch K.

    4 pitch walk.

  32. delmardennis said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:47 pm

    I think we won.

  33. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:48 pm

I think we just made a statment to the rest of the division and league!

  34. PawlieKokonuts said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:51 pm

when were we 17 games over .500?

  35. bigflavor said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:53 pm

yes GH. The steamroll I spoke of yesterday has been engaged today…..

  36. Unca Chuck said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:54 pm

Nice job after a shakey start for Nasty. Got through 7.

    The mole goes yard, and nice D . . . (“you know” x 500 . . . .)

Everybody seems to be heating up. 20-5 . . . Holy shit.

Woo hoo!!! Spank the Rox, and bring on the bravos . . .

  37. alleykat said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:55 pm

No doubt about making a statement GH.This team is firing on all cylinders.Wow 10 runs 19 hit attack with all BP guys throwing serious cheese..sweet! Oh and major props to Dirrty for finding a good rhythm and the all important never forgotten by Kruk Arm Slot.

  38. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:57 pm

Now THAT was a victory. Shutting out the Rox in their playpen is no small feat as the BP was clean for three and Drrrrrty kept them in the hole for his usual 6. Ten runs on 19 hits is not particularly unusual at Coors. Delighted it was the Giants. What a turnaround in one month’s time. Losing their game tonight, the Braves may be getting a bit nervous with 4 coming up against these guys.

62 wins in the bag. 55 to go. They win one more than they lose the rest of the way (who expects that?) and they win 90. Now my UberPolly January prediction of 94-68 is starting to look just a tad conservative. As long as they rack up the Padres in those (10?) games coming up with them, 94 should be enough. No competition elsewhere in the division and with Atlanta, Cincinnati and St. Louis all getting bopped tonight, the competitors elsewhere in the league do not look that formidable either.

  39. blade3colorado said, on August 3, 2010 at 8:57 pm

Believe me Kat, I already have enough “material” from this game to last a couple of weeks with him. Ha.

  40. JBat said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:00 pm

Another great win. When’s the last time the Giants were this hot?

  41. Michael said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:10 pm

“When’s the last time the Giants were this hot?”
    Over 30 years…
Tough thing now, but great for dumb LU bashing, there are definitely 10 guys who all have to play. Nate and Whitey are the only guys out of the starting ” rotation”, they get one a week each.

  42. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:16 pm

Ishikawa is one guy we can never let the Rockies get their hands on the way he rakes in Colorado…

  43. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:18 pm

Odd they have Wellemeyer travelling with the team…

  44. ferrethead said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:22 pm

We love you Denver – city by the Bay!!!

    Go Giants!!!

  45. blade3colorado said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:23 pm

Actually, they had a stat on screen that showed the Giants being this many games over .500 back in 2004 (last time they were this hot).

    • JBat said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:26 pm

Well, it feels like over 30 years. 😀

  46. delmardennis said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:23 pm

Grizzlies in town to play the Col. Springs. “The Todd” likely goes tomorrow. Good seats still available.

  47. JBat said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:25 pm

3 more outs and we’re a game back. Go Dodgers.

  48. max808 said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:25 pm

  50. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:38 pm

    OK game out baby!

  51. Michael said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:39 pm

“This hot” can mean a lot of things. Most impressive to me is that the longest winning streak this year is still just 5 games.

  52. giant head said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:39 pm

one more from the Dodgers and let’s re-live the Jimenez bashing!

  53. delmardennis said, on August 3, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Bums win! I didn’t root for them tonight. At least openly I didn’t. Closer and closer…

I cannot believe the feeling I have waking up to this, one freakiin’ game behind the pads.
    The engine stoked and smoking.
Our #4 starter dirrrtys out a win and that leaping midget hits a dinger
nice to have a league leading hitter on your team, but I have always liked a team with 4 or 5 average hitters hitting just above average where team hitting wins games.

And the Devil Rays are killing the Yanks hopes for a post-season berth.

    • wswinb4igo said, on August 3, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Sorry edd….Rays can win the division, and Yankees can still get there.

  58. Unca Chuck said, on August 3, 2010 at 10:07 pm

Not that it’ll happen, but i wouldn’t shed any tears if Boston and the Yankers both missed the playoffs.

  59. stixwiz said, on August 3, 2010 at 10:09 pm

What a wonderful night to be a Giants fan. Ten to one bashing of the Rox (well deserved) while LA’s pickup of Lilly paid off for the Gigantes tonight anyway, as much as it did for the LaBumbos. One game out. Only other major contender to win tonight were the Phillies and that was over Florida (also well deserved by the Fish for splitting in SF).

They will be gunning for Ubaldo tomorrow afternoon and know they can beat him. Those footsteps the Pads keep hearing are getting closer and closer and louder and louder. Pads are probably looking over their shoulders more and more as the footsteps are now clearly recognizable as those of GIANTS.

    • TedSpe said, on August 3, 2010 at 10:29 pm

Very Homerian. Have you thought of writing a modern Greek tragedy/epic? Cuz I’m telling you, stix. Ya’lls got the chops!

It is so cool to be:

    a) Living in San Francisco
    b) Living near enough to San Francisco to feel the love
    c) Loving the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

So…after a killer game such as tonight…how does a San Franciscan celebrate?
Simple. You cue up the chase scene from BULLITT!!
Which is what I’m gonna do right now.
    Goodnight, Gentlemen (question mark)

  66. mrmrbill said, on August 3, 2010 at 10:44 pm

Ted, his concerns have had some past validity on occasion, but I think his execution has been poor. How do you feel about his execution?

No new tumors, the one remaining from February, in the left parietal lobe, is “stable”, no growth. Still some edema ( swelling) which explains some issues I’ve had, but basically “all good”.. follow up in November. This means I stay here.

  68. delmardennis said, on August 4, 2010 at 2:12 pm

Glad to hear the good news, TF. GB is overrated any way. Better off going to Green Bay for some cheese. I’m awaiting an MRI for my back and neck (2-3 wks.) myself. X-rays come back “???” need further eval. etc.. Hepped up on pills at the moment, so if my comments seem more Room Bish, you’ll know why. Still no excuse, but OSF could use the company.

  69. Bozo said, on August 4, 2010 at 2:19 pm
