Does anybody know why Franchez is out. Was it a double switch or an injury I missed?

    • wswinb4igo said, on August 25, 2010 at 4:42 pm

      DS

    • Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Multiple switch when Nate PH in the 6th, I believe. Nate, Fontenot in, Burrell, Sanchez out.

  26. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 4:56 pm

I think Whiteside was the better choice to pitch the 12th.

  27. swickman said, on August 25, 2010 at 4:57 pm

Twin, I’ll do a bit of drinking and smoking for you.

  38. PawlieKokonuts said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Well, I’m down but proud of these boys. Not gonna indulge in fruitless second-guessing except to say: if Don Taussig is still alive, we need to somehow get him to remove the Don Taussig Curse. (In ’58, Taussig made the last out against the Pirates in a nine-run ninth; we lost to the Pirates 11-10. It’s not like it burned a hole in my brain or anything. Naw.)

  39. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:20 pm

    Philly and St. Louis behind.

  40. PawlieKokonuts said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:22 pm

  41. delmardennis said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:22 pm

Flav, sent you an E-mail regarding today’s happenings.

TF, when’s the deadline for your contest again? I need to put the numbers through my horseshiticulator one more time.

    • Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:23 pm

      Friday 3 P.M.

    • TedSpe said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:24 pm

      Geez, dennis, take notes

  42. TedSpe said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:22 pm

    Helluva series.
One of baseball’s two extremes. Slugfests and no/low hitters. Love ’em both

  43. TedSpe said, on August 25, 2010 at 5:35 pm

As exciting as it was, Bumgarner’s earned runs and the 5 (looked more like 7) errors…the Giants lost this one just as much as the Reds won it. If you know what I mean

  44. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Go to the last thread if you’re interested in some nice info on a “Man not named Red”

  45. snarkk said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:03 pm

I had to go out for the afternoon when it was 8-1. I came back to find the game still going, 11-11 and Zito taking the mound. I guess I missed a bit. Anyway, I have little clue of the transpirations in between, except some excerpts from Miller on the post game. Whatever happened, I give the Boys credit for what must’ve been a hellacious comeback and some “Magic inside”. How/Why Zito was brought in to hold I dunno, but I do know I thought immediately there was no way he would get out of the inning without giving up something. Gawd I wish there were a way to rid the team of him. Shame a great comeback had to be put on the line with him on the mound, but yes, he wasn’t the only culprit in the Reds getting 12. Anyway, 2 of 3 from the Reds ain’t bad at all. They are good, and hit like fiends. Onward to the Dbacks, need a sweep of those tools…

  46. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:06 pm

Referencing the post on the last thread: embezzlement is the best guess.

  47. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:26 pm

Houston up 1, going to bottom of 9th. Polanco, Utley, Werth. Lyon pitching.

  48. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:27 pm

    Excuse me: Utley, Werth, Sweeney.

  49. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:31 pm

    Howard pinch hitting, 2 down.

  50. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:34 pm

It’s over, still tied for the WC.

  51. Macdog said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:34 pm

  52. delmardennis said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:36 pm

    Stros win! But that doesn’t really concern me, I no not what you speak when you say, “W _ _ _ C _ _ _ .”

  53. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 6:39 pm

St. Louis also goes down. This is what I meant about not taking bottom feeders lightly.

  54. Unca Chuck said, on August 25, 2010 at 7:08 pm

    Bottom feeders?

No one takes Dennis lightly . . .

  55. Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Belt goes deep in his 2nd ab w/Fresno.

  59. unca chuck said, on August 25, 2010 at 9:35 pm

yeah I might head down to catch a grizzlies game . . .

  60. stixwiz said, on August 25, 2010 at 9:37 pm

Max: Two great pieces of news (for me, anyway) in your 9:09. Belt being promoted and his 20th HR spanning 3 teams and that in his first year of organized ball. Way he’s been hitting in the pitching-tough Eastern league, it does not surprise me that he’s socking em from the get-go in AAA. If there are any doomers out there who do not believe that he’ll be the starting first baseman in SF by this time next season (barring an injury or something similar) i’d be willing to put up some shekels.

Brandon’s on the fast conveyor-belt now. End of the PCL season should see him with one more promotion on the year: Cuppa Coffee at The Show.

  61. TedSpe said, on August 25, 2010 at 9:57 pm

Michael, my friend, did you really think they’d understand Vichy Government? Sure, they can “wiki” it but still…did you think they’d understand? I mean, they could at least watch CASABLANCA but still…
Renault: I am shocked. SHOCKED!!..to discover there’s gambling here!!
    Croupier: Your winnings, sir
    Renault: Oh, thank you

    • Michael said, on August 25, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Yeah, I over estimated, perhaps. Funny though, the guy is either really really freaked out or doing a good schtick pretending to be.

  62. TedSpe said, on August 25, 2010 at 10:13 pm

    Too close to call
