After impossibly giving up that lead our guys really showed me something yesterday– They didn’t waste much time either, did they? They steamrolled the bottom of the 7th and re-took the lead in like 2 minutes. Very professional win and a fun game to watch……
The Dodgers really got their money’s worth on that 50 mil they gave Manny, didn’t they? The first year he gets busted for steroids and loses 50 games. This year he happily picked up his player option and proceeded to incur about 12 calf injuries throughout the season. When I first heard he was White-Sox bound I actually thought it might help the Dodgers along the lines of when the Raiders ditched Jamarcus (No)Muscle. But with the McCourt’s divorce case starting TODAY I think that circus will be enough to bury the Dodgers who are pretty much buried as we speak……
We’ve got 31 games left. Is 18-13 doable? I’m not too worried about the WC or the division. Either is fine. And San Diego has to deal with a 10 game road trip in the middle of September just as their young pitching staff is maxing out on their innings pitched for the year. Plus we get ’em for the final 3 of the regular season. With Philly focus and marching toward their usual spot in the post season I think the division is still our best shot at making the post season this year…….

The play at 3B that let the tying run in was strange. How does a straight (and weak) throw on the line to 3B like that bounce out of play on a mlb field? (Don’t tell me it hit the runner; that deflection caused minimal change in the trajectory.) The field design should put the end of the dugout far enough toward HP to prevent extra bases like that, etc.. Anyway, very bad break.

A manager should NEVER trash his guys over an error like that. It was not a mental error.
I don’t think Ross should be crucified for that play. It was just a freak play. The bat splintered in half. 99.9% of the time the outfielder is going to have to come in to get a flare, and Ross was trying to make a great play and take away the flare hit. This was the .1% of the time when the ball is still hit hard with a bat that was broken in half. Their best power hitter batting. Ross should have factored that in, but in the heat of the moment, he read too much in the bat breaking.
My only beef with the entire play is how does Wilson not block that ball from going into the dugout. He has to find a way to stop that ball.

Fuck, Dennis. I thought I overreacted. Did that hurt? Yeah, it hurt like a motherfucker. Did it kill the season? Fuck no. The good news is Sanchez pitched a great game. The bad news? Well, the errors. Ross picked a bad time to misjudge that fly ball. Hey, it happens. It’s the curse of Giant RFers. From Jack Clark to Candy Maldonado to Jose Cruz Jr to now Cody Ross, there appears to be a curse that strikes at the worst possible moments.
And, yeah, whoever mentioned it is right. The dimensions of the dugouts pretty much ensure that every ball that gets by a 1st or 3rd baseman guarantees and extra 90′ since the dugout openings are in the line of fire. Not well thought out. They ned to put gates up at least.
In the end, it’s one game. 30 games to go. They have 5 to make up ion SD, 1.5 to make up on Philly. The Giants face Mrs. Rogers today. They should pound the fuck out of him with little problem. So, something like 7-2.
One last thing. Someone get Freddie a smaller pair of fucking pants. He looks like he’s running around in his goddamn pajamas out there. It slows him down.
