A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

What is it with Colorado and DEVASTATING losses?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 31, 2010

I couldn’t catch the entire game last night, I bounced in the 7th. I woke up and did my “read the blog” thing to find out what happened. Ugh. That move has turned into bad luck for us, it always seems we suffer some type of excruciating loss when I do that…..

It was nice to read the Merc and see that several players stopped by Ross’ locker to offer support, it sounds like this was just a freak play that could have happened to anyone…….

Brian Wilson is your closer who is strong as an ox. He’s an all star. You bring him into that situation every single time. I’ve got no problem with that move whatsoever. Dirrrrty is always a pitch away from disaster anyway. Did anyone want to see him lose the game in the 9th? Exactly. The 9th inning is Wilson’s in a situation like that, period……..

The only good thing that ever comes from me missing games like this is that it doesn’t leave the same pain in my soul that watching it would have done…….

The game *should* be in the bag. But, and I know I’ll get disertation from twin, why bring in a .237 hitter with the bases loaded?
I don’t really give a shit. Just curious. Is it some kind of morale builder?

    • TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:47 pm

      Just curious

      Doesn’t matter Ted. We won.

  2. alleykat said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:47 pm

That was Rowand best swing in a looooong time,The bat flies farther then the ball he hits.

  3. Macdog said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:48 pm

    When he hits it, anyway.

  4. stixwiz said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:48 pm

Row Row Row your boat into DFA.

  5. willied said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:50 pm

then he lets one go that was a better pitch than anything he swung at.

  6. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:50 pm

Who would you have hit there, Ted? All that was left is Whiteside and the LHer Fontenot. . that was not a questionable decision at all.

    • TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:53 pm

I’m lost, just started watching the game. Was there a need for a pinch hitter?

  7. unca chuck said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:51 pm

    SHIT!!!! Nice toe work, Huff.

  8. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:51 pm

Rowand will get more comments than Torres with the go ahead HR-book it.

    • TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Not from me, chief. I was just curious

  9. max808 said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:52 pm

Really feel sad watching Rowand. You know it’s killing him.

  10. wswinb4igo said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:52 pm

Congrats…You could come out now Dennis.

  11. unca chuck said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:53 pm

    Well, I had 7-2, but I also had this as a laugher…..

  12. mrmrbill said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:53 pm

Wilson was having no drama tonight. Must be tired. 🙂

  13. Macdog said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:53 pm

What was that, 8 pitches? BW wasn’t messin’ around tonite.

  14. alleykat said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Beautiful!!! Cut the lead to 4 as the Pads keep squealing like a pig.

  15. freshtodef80 said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Dennis, come down from the ledge.

  16. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Wait a minute-where are the fucks who said Wilson was too tired to pitch LAST night?

  17. snark said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:55 pm

Fuckin A, no drama in the top of the 9th! I can dig that. Nice win after last night’s disaster. Bum did a nice job keeping ’em in the game. Win tomorrow, and 2 of 3 sounds OK…

  18. stixwiz said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:56 pm

Wondering if Wilson does not pitch his best when he’s had a lot of work. Couple times he hadn’t been throwing in awhile, he was off his game, labored and provided major Sarah Bernhardt drama.

  19. TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:57 pm

Gentlemen (?), apologize for the stupid question. I came in late

  20. snark said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:57 pm

As for Rohand’s AB, whatever. He’s gone anyway in the off season. After the callups, he might as well be Murph’s assistant — doing that he’ll get more work handing out towels and sunflower seeds….

  21. max808 said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:57 pm

Give us a freak show tomorrow Timmy!

  22. wswinb4igo said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:57 pm

That was great by BW…It’s not easy to be ready and wait out a long bot 8..Great job.

  23. stixwiz said, on August 31, 2010 at 9:59 pm

Of all possible times for Timmy to get back on his game, tomorrow night against Ubaldo is it. Doesn’t matter if he hasn’t been shit in August. September game. 29 to go. Anything vaguely close to vintage Timmy and we ARE in this.

  24. shaman_138 said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:00 pm

What I kept telling the doomer dipshits on the splash would happen is starting to happen, I think. The Padres are running into a tough schedule and are finally starting to swoon and the Giants can use this all-important win to gain momentum with their weak schedule this coming month. The division is still within reach and the wildcard is still right there. Timmy HAS to get his shit together tomorrow. What’s up with that guy?

    • wswinb4igo said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:04 pm

There’s no such thing as easy games in september…

      • shaman_138 said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:07 pm

This is very true but we not only have a softer schedule but we also face SD several times….plenty of opportunities to avenge their dominance of us while they’re swooning and take back the division.

  25. TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:03 pm

Huh. I just watched all the highlights
    Motherfucker
    Brilliant game
    Nice

  26. shaman_138 said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:05 pm

So oldsealfart just called me a jerk over there on the splash. Guess he’s pissed we won tonight. Poor guy.

    • freshtodef80 said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:10 pm

OSF isn’t the sharpest tool in the drawer.

    • TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:10 pm

No, no. He’s a Giants’ fan. He’s not pissed “we” won tonight.
      He simply thinks…the Giants lost
Wait and let him read the papers tomorrow

  29. willied said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:10 pm

Wonder if Tracy has seen enough of Posey to last him a while? Bochy out managed him again, imo; using all those guys in the 7th he wound up leaving Beimel (strictly a loogy) in to face the RH guys, walked Bochy’s PH Ross, then left one up and out over the plate to Posey, right where he likes it.

  30. DJLoo said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:12 pm

I think they need to go at least 18-11 in September. Suggestion:

    COL 2-2
    LAD 4-2
    ARI 4-2
    SDP 4-3
    CHI 2-1
    MIL 2-1

The whole league sucks. Gotta take advantage now. I think the Rays win it all.

  31. stixwiz said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:13 pm

How bout a three-tined POTG: Bumgarner, Torres, Posey. All three came up huge and Wilson gets an honorable mention.

  32. alleykat said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Stix…What about Rowand? The bat toss was quite impressive.

  33. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:19 pm

Nope, you can have a co-place with MadBum and Buster. POTG is Torres period. After the tying HR by Mora I absolutely guarantee everyone thought they’d lose. *I* did and if I did, you all did. It’s Andres. A top 5 hit of the year and he probably he has 2 or 3 of the others.

  34. xootsuit said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:20 pm

Bum’s POTG. He kept them in the game. Posey close second. But he’s often going to be POTG or close to it. (Notice he’s using a new technique to set his target? Nice of the coaching staff to work on that with him.) But Bum used all of his pitches, battled through lack of control, and never lost composure. He’s a horse. And the horse came through tonight.

  35. stixwiz said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:23 pm

Wilson is back to tied for the lead in saves with his 37th. That and his All-Star status makes him one of the game’s elite closers, despite that weird ending last night.

  36. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:23 pm

Bum,Posey, THEN Torres? Wow. I guess Gomez has to go for the cycle and pitch a no hitter.

  37. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:26 pm

OK, will you guys let me make Torres the Gomez of the game?

  38. stixwiz said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:27 pm

It’s kinda nice when we can have a sweet little debate on three prime candidates for POTG. Hope we get many more of those choices now that its September here in Minnesota. I’ll hit 66 with the LaBumbos in SF. Would be quite satisfied with a sweep for my lil present.

  39. xootsuit said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:30 pm

Torres’ HR was exciting, but only because of Bum’s work to that point. Posey helped, earlier, with his perfect throw to 2B (and his 2 rbis finished the game off for the Giants). FSanchez would be as deserving as Torres for POTG, if you were being objective. But no. Torres Torres Torres! Great. Get a good night’s sleep. Opportunities to dis Lincecum await.

  40. TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:32 pm

How about tomorrow’s lineup? We all love doing this so allow me to be the first (with apologies to twinfan/Michael/snarkk)
    Selena Gomez-1b
    Gomez Addams-ss
    Margo Gomez-3b
    Mario Gomez-CF
    Scott Gomez-lf
    Gomez Peer-2b
    Teilnehmer des Gomez -rf
    Sid Jydonystoscky-c
    Gomez Mymom-p

Ted, will Kruk Gomez and Kuip Gomez be announcing that game?

  41. TedSpe said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:34 pm

    Goodnight, gentlemen (question mark)

  42. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Good and bad news for Room B:
Juan Gomez may get a blow..
but Edgar Gomez would get the start

  43. mrsprtdude said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:41 pm

Anyone going to bet any cash on the Gmen tomorrow? Game of the year as far as I’m concerned. This team needs a win from the ace. Period.

  44. willied said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:43 pm

As long as Pedro Gomez isn’t “reporting live.”

  45. Michael said, on August 31, 2010 at 10:46 pm

I’ve seen a lot of interviews with Torres and the guy can knock out a cliche with any white dude in the game. Sorry, I know i’m gonna get some argument on this but mano a mano in the interview room, Andres is the MAN!

  46. ferrethead said, on August 31, 2010 at 11:04 pm

Oops! Got caught up in the post-game show.

    Woo-Hoo!!!!!!
