A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Biggest Series of the Year

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 3, 2010

You can’t really understate the importance of the next 10 games for the Giants. San Diego is limping home but they are about to kick off a nice long homestand. If we stay around 2-3 games back for the next 10 days or so then we will POUNCE on the Padres when they fall apart on the 10 day road trip they have to stagger through starting on September 13th.  September is their month to fall apart– their young arms are taxed and spent. But we don’t need to be 6 games back on the 13th, that could leave us with too much work to do……

So it all starts tonight against the *Done-gers*. I think they’ve got a team-wide check out going on right now. The owner-divorce is dominating the headlines, Matt Kemp can’t wait for his next date with Riannah, Fucal and Martin are in their rightful spot on the DL and Broxton is not fine despite what Torre will tell you. As long as we don’t get too tight I think we take 2 of 3 for sure this weekend……..

Well, there just wasn’t any way Zito could beat Billingsley tonight. The mythical baseball gods weren’t having any of that.

  2. alleykat said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:29 pm

Really stupid defensive postioning by Uribe. And WTF was he covering 2nd on Kemp’s steal attempt?.That’s Sanchez job to cover 2nd.

    • Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:34 pm

Managers often switch the cover assignment if there’s a hitter who can go the other way. Giants benefitted just the other night: Buster singled to left on a hit and run, the SS was covering because Posey goes to RF so well…
You’re welcome, I’m always happy to school you guys on the game.

Maybe we can mount a rally against this zipperhead…

  4. zumarust said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:29 pm

It’s got to be Ross in rightfield instead of Garko-guillen tomorrow.

  6. James said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:31 pm

Last year we had OFers being ripped for dropping balls on tougher plays than that one.

    • James said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:35 pm

Again, Zito threw 4 straight fastballs to Billingsley in his first AB and K’ed him. .

  7. zumarust said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:31 pm

So- is Kruk going to tell us to tip our caps to Billingsley?

  8. unca chuck said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:32 pm

Regardless of the call, Zitty CAN’T hang a fucking pitch like that. Posey gets 0.5% of the blame. Zito’s a big boy. He can;t throw a curve low? Fuck him.

  9. delmardennis said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:33 pm

Zippy Chippy went 0 fer 100 in his racing career. I bet he was called some derogatory names.

  10. wswinb4igo said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:34 pm

Burrell wondering why prevent 2b hit defense with 2 run lead..incredible Blake is on the line there…

  11. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:34 pm

    HANG? It was a fastball.

Bochy has had a quick hook with Zitfuck all year. It’s hardly new.
And Zitshit and Posey have had problems since last year when Zito couldn’t read the kid’s signs AT ALL. Tonight Rags had to come out and tell them to lay off the fast balls. They went on to get the big out on change ups, make Billingsley look horrible on changes and then throw him a fucking fastball. Bottom line: Bengie wouldn’t have LET him. If the BOY can’t control his staff , get a man for the job.

  12. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:35 pm

And stick Buster’s ass at first.

There once was a player named Huff
Who knew the size of his bat wasn’t enough
    he once played the Bums
with a bat up his bum
And said…..We only scored fucking 2 runs this game! This is no way to win the division!! Fuck it! We have to fucking win the division!! Fuck the wild card!!
    …..
And then he said… life is tough

    Ahh…baseball.
No worries my friends. PS is ours. and..

Fine Mike you get Fat Ass Sandoval behind the plate in Zitfuck starts.Cause i sure don’t want to see Whitey.

    • Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:44 pm

You wanna see what all of you fucks thought Panda would do this year? Go back to the first couple months of the contest. Don’t give me this “my” shit. I was the first to call his great 2009 but all you fucks were on board this year..

  20. EdGdsnInExile said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:39 pm

I’d been thinking that Torres needs a day off here or there. Tonight Flemming says he’s struck out 13 times in last 28 ABs. I’m with Zum we’ve got to get Ross in for Guillen. He won’t do worse offensively and the team won’t be holding its breath on balls hit to right.

  21. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:40 pm

With nobody on. Huge motherfucking difference, pal.

  22. unca chuck said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:40 pm

I was listening on the radio. I heard about 15 seconds of the game. It just happened to be the worst part. Kuiper made it sound like he hung a curve.

Still, pitcher at bat, Zito can’t put him away? 99.5% Zito’s fault.

Fucking bubbles walks 3 guys and gives up a hit to the pitcher, and it’s Posey’s fault?

Please. You just want to piss everyone off, Mike.

  23. TedSpe said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:41 pm

    Happens, dudes
    Goodnight, gentlemen (?)

  24. snarkk said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:42 pm

Zitoid starts are back in the mode where the team lays a turd game when he starts, because they know they’re effectively down 3 or 4 runs already when he takes the mound. Giants management needs to decide whether they want to baaically piss away 3 or 4 more games with him starting the rest of this month…

      Goodnight, lady

  26. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:49 pm

Get it straight, Chucklefuck. I stated an opinion and *I* was attacked,. Fuck you. This alleged ” hatred” of Posey started when I noted that he hit the ball on the ground a lot. GiantHead went postal like I’d accused him of child molestation. The kid looks like he’ll be a fine hitter. His abilities behind the plate (yet) were why he wasn’t here to start the season. Don’t be fucking acting like I make this shit up.

    • TedSpe said, on September 3, 2010 at 9:54 pm

This is difficult to…make sense with.
When Posey came on board, and with the additions of a couple of..not great..but..quality hitters, the Giants started making more runs.
But with the loss of Molina…look at August..the SPs started to..suck.Coincedence?
      Maybe.
      Let’s chat

  28. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:08 pm

ANY discussion of whether the performance of the pitchers might be related to the catching change is verboten here. And then we get this ridiculous shit where any GOOD game is shown as proof that Posey is fine behind the plate. That’s juvenile idiocy, no one suggesets that every pitcher will suck every time and it’s all on Posey. It’s a fair question whether the starters have suffered under Posey and it’s not even necessarily an indictment of Buster. It’s common sense that guys who had all pitched to Molina for at least a couple years each might not be as comfortable with a new catcher. And that was all that was brought up when his apologists made it a big fucking deal that Posey was being ATTACKED.
I don’t give a fuck if they had two hits, or one- the score should be 2-2. What happened on that cluster fuck pitch to Barbara should definitely be looked at. And the catcher who called or assented to the dumbest pitch call of the year is part of it.

  30. alleykat said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:23 pm

I remember Anthony Zerbe, good Character actor. Star Trek,Gunsmoke,Streets of San Francisco,Big Valley…..maybe he can pitch for Zito, couldn’t be worse.

  31. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Kat was the one who freaked because Bochy pulled Zitfuck before he could blow a huge lead.

  32. pickledgringo said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:27 pm

Wow – how the hell Posey has anything to do with how the pitch is being thrown is by me. And any pitcher needing a babysitter behind the plate to feel better better grow the fuck up real fast and cop a pair. That might be the worst excuse for a bad pitch I have ever heard. If you can’t get the pitcher out during a pennant race…..

  33. snarkk said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Yeah Kat, I really DO remember Anthony Zerbe. Kind of a weird look. Maybe he’s got a better heater than Zitman…

  34. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Shut your tart hole, Gringo. The notion that the catcher now has no responsibilty for how the pitching staff performs is a brand new baseball rule invented here just for Buster. Now get your sorry ass back in your room.

  35. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:40 pm

Gringo and this Berger creature back to back? Dennis: do something useful and install that keylogger on their PCs. I’ll split anything we find in their bank accounts.

  36. delmardennis said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:44 pm

Zito’s last road win was May 5 in Florida. Guess who was catching. Now 32-34 on the road. Same old shit there. Couple that with our 23-28 numbers within the division, and “it is what it is.” God I hate that saying.

Projections currently give us a 30% chance of making the playoffs. When you hear there’s a 30% chance of showers, do you take an umbrella?

And the Asian woman was actually Chinese. The episode was entitled “The Chinese Woman.” Donna Chang was her name. Who the fuck listens to a Chinese woman anyway? And those fortune cookies are really fraudulent now. Putting “lucky” numbers on the back. They’re in cahoots with the Lottery if ya ask me. But in the end, mission accomplished. Old P.T. was right, “there’s a sucker born every minute.” I think he forgot to add that there’s a good chance he’s a Giants fan as well.

  37. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:51 pm

“And the Asian woman was actually Chinese.” Unintentionally funny shit, Dennis. I think a lot of you guys are “Yahoo Answers” level…
Let me run this down for ya: Chinese are Asian, not all Asians are Chinese. Got it, Paddy?

  38. snarkk said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:52 pm

May 5th? Stone Crab season was still open…

  39. delmardennis said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:55 pm

If I’d do something to Berger, it would be to siphon his beer growler. Save some for the college ball tomorrow, my friend. Andrew Luck vs Sac St. Shit, I think Nate Davis might even throw a TD vs the Hornets. Might, I said.

  40. EdGdsnInExile said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:56 pm

At least we didn’t lose ground to the Pads. In other news, Phils within one of Atlanta. I’ll be at Rays v. O’s tomorrow, featuring Stanford product Jeremy Guthrie. Hope to catch some of the Giants–and you all–when I get home.

  41. alleykat said, on September 3, 2010 at 10:56 pm

95% of Rightfielders ketch Barbara’s fly ball the other 5% is Jose Guillen.

    • snarkk said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:02 pm

With the Giants, pik your poison, Kat. Guillen can hit, but he can’t move. You might even argue that for the last AB in the 9th, Bonehead should have hit Ross for Guillen, because they absolutely above all else needed a baserunner and Guillen can’t leg out a hit — even if he homers, they’re still down a run. If a guy needs a gurney to rget un to first, that’s not the guy you should have batting with 2 down in the 9th needing a baserunner…

  42. delmardennis said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:00 pm

“Yahoo Answers” level? Shit, when it comes to Seinfeld, I’m motherfucking Trivial Pursuit level.
I’m a direct decedent of “The Moops!”

  43. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:09 pm

I have zero idea who you boys think wanted Guillen. I may be the only one who posted any reservations at all when the deal was cut. But whatever, it’s hilaious how the fucking idiots here get all butt hurt wnen the CATCHER gets a little grief for pitch calling while they’re blaming the manager for not hitting a guy with a .294 OBP for a guy who’s at .404 ( with the Giants)…

    • Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:13 pm

And for the year, Guillen’s OBP is also higher than Ross. Fact is, Guillen had the better chance to get on base based on stats here and for the entire year.

      • snarkk said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:15 pm

He can’t run, for Kreissakes. Ross can…

      • Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:18 pm

OBP, do you undersand what that is? The percentage that he gets on base, asswipe. It’s higher than Cody’s.You have no argument. And BergerFuck: pay attention: I didn’t WANT Guillen. I don’t want Nate Fucking Davis. You’re dumber than GringoFuck.

      • snarkk said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:22 pm

He can’t run NOW. As in tonite, in the top of the ninth, two out, Chavez Ravine; not the whole season. What part of that do you not get?….

      • Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:26 pm

He runs no worse now than when they got him. In fact it was noted he was running a bit better. But what part of .404 OBP to .294 NOW do YOU not understand? It’s not arguable, Guillen’s chances of getting on were better than Cody’s.

  44. Berger said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:11 pm

Dennis- I just found out Michael is a Jose Guillen fan. What an ass.

Michael- Row your boat, it is much faster than Guilen running to first, or running to a fly ball. How do you like me now you Guillen lover. Guillen needs your protection. Next you are going to tell me Nate Davis who ran a 5.1 at the combine is going to save the 49ers with his athleticism, right?

  45. snarkk said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:20 pm

I just read a Bagg’s article where it says Rent “declined” a rehab assignment in the minors in coming off the DL since August 10. WTF is that? He’s a month and half at most away from not having a job, and he “declines” to take a few games of rehab to get back in shape? That’s crap…

  46. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:28 pm

Berger:Listen, ONE guy agreed when I suggested we meet at Highway 29 and Tubbs Lane. One. I planted a tree there in his honor. Now shut the fuck up, troll.

  48. unca chuck said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:38 pm

Now’s it Guillen that dropped Barbara’s hit?

    What the fuck ever.

The weird thing is, I heard a total of 2 minutes of the game on the radio. Posey’s 2 out 2 run single, and Billinglsley’s fucking basehit.

Kuiper was about as pissed as I’ve ever heard him get about the location of the pitch.

In the end, its just another pisser of a game that these guys lost. They’ll do it again tomorrow.

2 hits won’t get you far either way.

  49. TellItGoodbye said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:42 pm

Guillen was a bad pick up, but not a waste of time if he’s pinch hitting. But playing RF against a righty and batting in the middle of the lineup? What about his last three years led Bochy to do this? Does anyone agree? Not like the offense has been a whole lot different, overall, since he got here, true?

  50. Michael said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:43 pm

Guillen is hardly responsible for how Huff hits, or Torres, or anybody else. What the fucik is THAT? Look, again, I didn’t like the deal that well and posted that. But the motherfucker is hitting .354 with a .404 OBP. It’s a real fucking stretch to put offensive woes on him.

  54. delmardennis said, on September 3, 2010 at 11:52 pm

2/3 of our starting outfield tonight consisted of guys we picked up off of waivers.

This shit ain’t on Buster, it ain’t on Zitfuck and it sure the hell ain’t on Gomez. This shit goes all the way back to the goddamn top. Put the red dot on Sabean’s forehead. This shit is his.

    2. Fontenot .387
    3. Huff .385
    4. Posey .375

  59. delmardennis said, on September 4, 2010 at 12:31 am

    This latest nugget from Baggs:

Expect to see some changes in tomorrow’s lineup. The Giants face Ted Lilly, the only lefty they’ll get in six games against the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. I’d expect Pablo Sandoval and Andres Torres to sit. Aaron Rowand and Edgar Renteria are likely to get a start.

Rowand AND Renteria? I better go to bed and get some rest. I’m gonna start bashing that goddamn lineup bright and early.

    Sleep well Flappers.

  60. Michael said, on September 4, 2010 at 1:15 am

Against Lilly, last two numbers are HR-RBI :
    Huff .120 3 for 25 0-0
    Fruckie .348 8 for 23 0-2
    Rowand .368 7 for 19 1-3
    Renteria .235 4 for 17 1-1
    Guillen .176 3 for 17 1-2
    Uribe .308 4 for 13 2-5
    Burell .111 1 for 9 0-0
    Ross .333 2 for 6 1-1
    Torres .000 0 for 3 0-0
No one else has faced him.
