A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Zito’s Law

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 9, 2010

It was in full effect last night, wasn’t it? Zito’s Law shut down the bats. For the first time in a while it just felt like nothing was going to happen, no one was going to step up. Posey looked horrendous at the plate, Same with Torres, Uribe, basically every single at bat after the Franchez HR. 14 left on base–that’s another theorem of Zito’s Law–tons of guys left on base…..

Cain v Garland tonight. I hate to go into San Diego with a line up full of cold bats but that’s what we’re doing. And the bats have been cold for a while, it’s been disguised a little because of the wins. We haven’t put two good hitting games together since I don’t remember when……

3 of 4 is totally doable. For either team……

I’m sure Snarkk will find some humor in this. Panda looted Mom’s fridge perhaps? Go for it, fuckkles.

Guillen 0-4 tonight — though the stats vs. Garland made sense to start him

Can’t wait to see how Cuzzi fucks up calling Sunday’s game. Maybe he’ll call dropped flys as outs anyway if the Pad’s defense makes a good effort.

What the less observant here don’t realize with the DP numbers is just how much the lack of team speed impacts that. I’m not referring to the hitter’s speed but the runner. Tonight was a prime example, there is NO way you can H&R with Burrell, a guy with no chance to steal the bag if contact isn’t made. A lot of the team’s DPs woud be base hits if Bochy had the luxury of using the H&R more.

Saints only scored 14 tonight. Shit, they’ll score that many on their flight to SFO.
Might need to break out your abacus to keep tabs on Brees and Co. that Monday.

The Giants homered in four consecutive innings Thursday. The last time they did that was on August 16, 2007, in Atlanta. The dingers came in innings 1 through 4, by (respectively) Bengie Molina, Dan Ortmeier, Randy Winn, and Kevin Frandsen.
