A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

With Authority

What a tone we set in San Diego last night. We didn’t just eek out a victory, we dominated them, burying the memories of their 8-0 start against us to start out the year. With their fans absent and our fans filling their seats, there’s no way the Padres can maintain their confidence……

Another chance tonight for Dirrrrty to back up his hubris against SD. Do you sit Buster? I know Bochy wants to give him a blow but I don’t think this series is the time to do it. And as bad as he looked on Wed in AZ he sure looked spry last night. He’s going to get a blow Monday and then Bochy could give him another one against the checked-out Dodgers or even Milwaukee. San Diego will be losing plenty of games next week when they head off to their 10 game roadie on Monday. Posey should sit then, not now…….

I almost had my third heart attack watching Huff run on that ground ball…and kudos for Nate’s take out. He seems to be coming up with big plays at the right time…ballsy call sending Huff on the steal as well..

The Padres are done, imo. I’m much more concerned now with Colo.

Doesn’t make me happy to think of Zito starting that first game in Colorado…but we have a major advantage agaisnt the Rockies. We finish at home with the Padres, who may be mathematically eliminated by that Friday, while the Rockies have 4 in St. Louis while St. Louis may still be alive.

We need the Cards to get back into the race…and take the next two from Atlanta….

Zito-talk is the quickest way to blow everyone’s good buzz. (grin)

As long as the Giants keep winning, the Rocks will remain in our rear view mirror…

FP just said on KNBR that the Giants are in “first place!”

If FP says so, it has to be true.

FP may have had one too many in his short playing career…

He just said it again. Go FP!

As I explained a couple of years back on the Splash, a team can be in first place by percentage points, but still be games back. Almost caused a riot.

That does not happen to be the case here, Looigi.

Henry tweets that Bochy said he did give Wilson the take sign.

Biggest significance of tonight’s outcome? Whitey’s CERA dropped a good notch or two. Go Whitey!

I do think there’s a psychological factor of having “caught” the Padres tonight. The Padres know they’re vulnerable. The key is to CAPITALIZE on this in the next two days. Split the last two at least, and heck, maybe put the sweep into play.

In the western division universe, the Gyros are as gamma rays, streaking unimpeded across the cosmos, full of boundless, dangerous, high level thong energy. The Pads are dark matter, shadow people struggling in an unseen dimension as it falls away from us into an event horizon whose beyond cannot be perceived by our limited plane of consciousness. Stephen Hawking, can’t do percentages, but must be a freekin’ Giants fan…

Belatedly back from the pub where I watched from 4th inning on. You guys have said it all. I will just add that I thought Bochy’s moves, pitching in particular, were golden. He’s managing at a high level now. And a final nod to Nate, with that great take-out and double later on.

I look at it like the Giants need to make up two more games in the loss column against the Padres, because I don’t feel comfortable leaving it to a one-game playoff at the end of the season.

    • vrrbrcrrr said, on September 11, 2010 at 3:34 am

no-no-no ~ we don’t want a 1-game playoff!! NO need to go there… no need to think it… no.

And let me say B Wilson looks just totally zeroed in on the task at hand. Wow.
