A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

With Authority

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 10, 2010

What a tone we set in San Diego last night. We didn’t just eek out a victory, we dominated them, burying the memories of their 8-0 start against us to start out the year. With their fans absent and our fans filling their seats, there’s no way the Padres can maintain their confidence……

Another chance tonight for Dirrrrty to back up his hubris against SD. Do you sit Buster? I know Bochy wants to give him a blow but I don’t think this series is the time to do it. And as bad as he looked on Wed in AZ he sure looked spry last night. He’s going to get a blow Monday and then Bochy could give him another one against the checked-out Dodgers or even Milwaukee. San Diego will be losing plenty of games next week when they head off to their 10 game roadie on Monday. Posey should sit then, not now…….

I believe the standings go on w-l not percentage

    • TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:23 pm

No, they DO go on percentage officially. But I can’t remember when it has ever mattered at the end of the season.

  16. JBat said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:13 pm

The Pads still have two games in hand.

Bochy managed his ass off. Maybe, just maybe, this guy can get us in and past the playoffs. Fuck the line-up and Timmy’s hair, I’ve gotta feeling this guy makes it work.

  23. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:15 pm

    We’re 0 games back. Happy?

  24. alleykat said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:16 pm

Fuck percentages. The Pads won’t feel like there leading after tonight. And they won’t be after tomorrow.

  25. stixwiz said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:17 pm

WHEWWWWW! Payback time for all those games the Pads stole earlier in the season. Had the feeling that even with the baserunners in the 8th and 9th it would come to 1-0. Bit of a Sarah Bernhardt drama presentation on Matt Stairs walk, but Wilson was so pissed at that DP in his 0-9 plate experience that he was gassed and then some. And we are NOT talking Gascan Benitez. We are talking some determined heat.

  26. snarkk said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Good thing BW closed it. If Pads tied or got 2 to win, Bonehead had lots of ‘splainin to do for that top o’ the 9th full o’ fukups. Among other things, BW should NEVER, NEVER have taken the bat off his shoulders….

  27. wswinb4igo said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:18 pm

its who loses least wins…they’re 1 behind in that department

  28. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:19 pm

Again, the Giants are 0 games behind the madres . . .

    Fuck percentages.

  29. eddacker415 said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:19 pm

the sfgs have 2 games in hand and percentages say sd loses one of those.
    yee haw

    • JBat said, on September 11, 2010 at 9:58 am

The Padres have the two games in hand. They’ve played two fewer.

  30. snarkk said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:20 pm

    Oracle, the Doomer…

    • JBat said, on September 11, 2010 at 9:59 am

You’re the doomer, dude. They win the game and you’re talking about what might have happened if they lost. Sheesh.

  31. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Right, Snarkk. I’m sure Bochy told BW to swing at everything.

Wilson did that on his own.

    • snarkk said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:24 pm

      Bullshit…

  32. stixwiz said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Bumgarner against Stauffer. Not a bad matchup as it is Stauffer’s first start of the season. His longest stint was something like four innings. Hope Buster is up to it tomorrow. That LU looked a bit hollow tonight without him~ not as hollow as that of the Dagos, though. I’d say their chances of taking at least one of the next two are better than 50-50. Pads have to be pretty bummed at being beat at their own game. Also, the Gigantes de San Francisco have clipped Latos once already this season.

  33. Macdog said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Beat the Padres at their own dinkin’ stinkin’ game. Second place never felt so good.

  34. dirtnrocksnreno said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Shit! Don’t be a bunch of fucking doomers. Enjoy the W.

  35. mrmrbill said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:23 pm

Last nite we schooled them in big ball, tonight we schooled them in small ball.

  36. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Stauffer should be vulnerable by the 4th inning.

  37. TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:26 pm

I didnt see the replay on the Pads’ attempted steal in the 8th. Was the call correct? Padre announcers insulted the umpire on the air.

  38. max808 said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:27 pm

Agree, we can’t fucking settle for a split now.

And worry about 1st place on Oct 3.

  39. Kevin said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:27 pm

.564 to .563 those are the percentages, MLB.com

  40. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:27 pm

I am the realist, Snarkklefuck. And I’m not the one bitching after an exciting win. Your Bochy bashing is idiotic.

    • snarkk said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:29 pm

I’m over the moon with the win. You’re the one splitting stat hairs. And, they won in spite of a clusterfuckly managed 9th inning….

  41. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:27 pm

    0 games back. THAT’S what’s important . . .

  42. Kevin said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:28 pm

Thank you Mike!! Its a win, lets enjoy it, quit nitpicking

  43. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:28 pm

It’s to the Giants advantage that they have 2 more games to play than the G;s do

  44. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:28 pm

It was a great win. But screaming “first place” is fucking stupid…
The only way they leave SD in first is to sweep..

  45. giant head said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:30 pm

woo-hoo…what a nail biter! And to think idiots on the Splash last year wanted to banish BWilson…morons through and through!

Well we did exactly what we needed to do in the first two games…pressure is off, just split these last two and get on home!!!

    • TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Facing Latos with 3 in the pocket is the only way to go, I’d say.

  46. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:30 pm

Shut the fuck up, Chuckles. They are in second place.

  47. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:31 pm

    Channelling snarkk, Mike?

    0 games back, baby!!!!!

  48. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:33 pm

Wilson has a brilliant combination of guts and good sense. Definitely walk Stairs before you give in. If Maxs’ boy can beat him, tip the cap. But no way you give Stairs a pitch he can “leave Earth” with..

    • TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:36 pm

Boy, that is absolutely right. I love the confidence to put on the winning run, because it insults the next hitter, which is totally appropriate. Padre payroll has them putting up a .220 hitter with 12 HRs as a last gasp. And if Giants fans stopped going to their games, who knows what they would have.

  49. zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:34 pm

It’s best not to think of the Giants as tied for first. They’re one back in the loss column. Things are going great and heading in the right direction, though.

  50. unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:34 pm

Blow it out yer wrinkled ass, Mike.

Great win. Tough game. Dig it.

You can whine about percentages. They are virtually tied.

    0 games back, skippy.

  51. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:36 pm

I’m digging the game, I ALWAYS enjoy the baseball more than you fucks. They’re just not in first, fact.

    • zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:40 pm

Clearly they’re not. I don’t know why people are making an issue out of it. One out in the loss column is not tied for firstplace in my opinion.
The good news is that we’re heading generally upward and they’re heading generally downward.

      • vrrbrcrrr said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:02 pm

…they’re also 1-game UP in the win column.

  52. wswinb4igo said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Uribe had the d goin tonight..and the hustle despite the hammy to beat out the dp and get the rbi…

  53. zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:38 pm

“It’s to the Giants advantage that they have 2 more games to play than the G;s do”

See the thing is, Unca, I don’t think I can agree with that. I don’t know the odds and probability of it, but I think I’d give the edge to the Padres on that at the moment.

    • TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:42 pm

It’s academic, but the Padres are not likely to have that many positive match ups going down the stretch, so playing extra games now, as opposed to when they were rolling, seems to be to the Giants’ advantage. They’re ahead because they needed fewer games to get to the same number over .500, and now have more games to go farther over .500. If the Pads go 14-8, the Giants have to go 13-7. Not quite the same, although of course you have to look at the opposition.

The Giants have 5 more vs. SD. Winning 4 should leave them worrying about Colorado.

  54. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:39 pm

What’s with the “whine” bullshit, Chucklefuck”? I’m not unhappy. You’re the dumb cocksucker with the party hat, the streamers, the parade… for second place, asshole.

  55. stixwiz said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:40 pm

Imagine this: Your starter walks seven in 5. Closer walks one in the bottom of the ninth. You win 1-0. It happened tonight. Incredible morale booster winning under those circumstances, even though Sanchez and five relievers gave up only 3 hits. And it was really nice to see the L. painted on Clayton Richard. Yahoo posts this picture of him with this really toothy grin. Almost worse than a smirk.

Dagos will be pressing tomorrow. Time for MadBum to madden them with some unhittable stuff. Attention of the baseball world will be tightly focussed Sunday on a classic matchup of the new badboy on the block Mat Latos vs the revivified Tim Lincecum. The 1-0 game was tonight. Will there be a repeat?

With tonight’s victory, the Giants record against Divisional opponents is now a dead even .500 after a deep, dark case of subterranean bluuz. It could not have come at a better time and against a more deserving opponent.

    • vrrbrcrrr said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:05 pm

I remember Tim saying, I guess it was in July, maybe a little earlier, that he was on the “pitch to contact” bandwagon, which could have been his problem… if the last 2 starts are an indication, he’s abandoned that and gone back to being a strikeout pitcher.

  56. wswinb4igo said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:41 pm

chuck…mike doesn’t get excited and rightly so,until we’re ahead in the loss column…in theory, if they both won out from here, the pads would win…

    • unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:22 pm

The Giants play the Pads 5 more times, WSW. Your bullshit theory is flawed.

  57. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:42 pm

These goobers doom it with every loss, heads are to roll when they don’t hit, Botchy bashing, LU bashing,. and then party like Room B Splashmorons 20 games early. Get these next two and they go home in first.

  58. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:47 pm

Anyway, as discussed on September 1-the goats and heroes can come from unlikely guys. No way to know who it will be, and no credit or demerits for the past. Nate is all T and A, Whitefuck makes a key throw… Huff makes stoopid and it pays off…

  59. Macdog said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:47 pm

The Padres’ two “games in hand” are at Colorado on Monday and home vs. Cubs Sept. 27, so there’s a good chance they get a split.

  60. delmardennis said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:47 pm

The reason why we’re not technically in first place is simple:
Alex Smith has had too many different offensive coordinators.

    • vrrbrcrrr said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:06 pm

      …so true.

  61. snarkk said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:47 pm

You’re not a better Giants fan than any of us. Bullfuckinshit to that….

    • Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:50 pm

Everyone here is a “better” fan than you are, Snarkklefuck. You are a disgrace.

      • snarkk said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:55 pm

I’m enjoying this win, and you’re quoting percentages as if nobody else knows how to divide. Piss off, Doomer….

  62. TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:47 pm

Casilla may catch a starter or two in wins

  63. zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:48 pm

After this series, the Pads embark on a 10-game roadtrip. Colorado- 3, St. Louis- 4, L.A.- 3. A decently tough roadtrip, with hopefully L.A. giving them better games at Dodger Stadium.

  64. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:49 pm

I think I’ll watch this one again and catch the Padre announcers.

    • TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:51 pm

Let me know if you can do that …. the Padres are NEVER on the Extra Inning package, for whatever reason. I caught them on the radio a bit.

      • zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:53 pm

Dick Enberg is one of their TV broadcasters. It’s a little disconcerting at first.

    • Macdog said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:54 pm

Do you really want to put yourself through that?

  65. delmardennis said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:52 pm

But can someone please tell me why the fuck BW was swinging the bat in the T9?

Two things either happened. 1. Bochy gave him the red light (proper move) and Brain ignored it and went hacking. 2. Bochy didn’t give him the red light and he swung away.

Either scenario, someone needs to have their child slapped.

    • zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:54 pm

I’d have to go back and look at those last two innings, but when Wilson was batting I was thinking that Bochy screwed up a double-switch opportunity at some point. Maybe bring in Ishi when he brought in Wilson, move Huff to the outfield for somebody, something like that.

      • TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:57 pm

Nah, he would have had to take out Ross or Huff … and then you’re getting close to the possibility of having Wilson up in an even worse situation.

      • ferrethead said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:58 pm

I’m not a great fan of FP, but he just did a great job of spelling out how that wasn’t possible…mostly because BW came in in the 8th, and first the way the batters were lining up, you would have had to take out Rent, Uribe, or Whiteside – not a lot of good options, there.

  66. TedSpe said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:53 pm

Wow. I got up to pee.
Thought…heck let’s see what the fucks’ are saying on the Flap
You guys would have never passed 8th grade math.
    Let’s make this simple:
See how many games the Giants have played
Now, see how many games the Padres have played
    See the *little* difference?
That’s where the 1st place 2nd place thing comes on.
    Michael/twin was right about that.
But he was wrong about one thing.
He states he ALWAYS *enjoys* baseball more than us fucks.
    I take umbrage.
I enjoy baseball as much if not more than you, twin.
Probably even more as I don’t *know* it as well as you
I love you man, but…nope. I enjoy it as much if not more than you. I just haven’t made it a life science. I don’t have to.
That’s what I can count on you for
    (insert gay smiley face)

  67. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:53 pm

Let’s not forget that Uribe fucked up. Wilson had the throw beat without any “help”. Torres should have had his shot.

    • zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:57 pm

Thoughts on whether a double-switch should have happened earlier?

    • delmardennis said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:57 pm

Wilson should have NEVER swung the bat. Who’s fault was it?

  68. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:55 pm

The fucks referred to know who they are-the doomers and bashers and cynics. I’m not going to list them unless you insist. They klnow who they are.

  69. stixwiz said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:55 pm

A win is a win is a win. I love it.

  70. TellItGoodbye said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:55 pm

Odd stats on tomorrow Patsies starter: lefties hitting .190. Call it a small sample size.

  71. giant head said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:57 pm

who cares about whether we are percentage points in second..we are fucking winning this division. We may split these last two in San Diego, but this team has a mindset that they are going to win this division and not look back and I believe…

San Diego will be toast in Colorado…

    • zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:59 pm

All the cliches apply- grind it one game at a time. They found a way to make it happen tonight. How about that run? That was the ultimate grinder.

  72. giant head said, on September 10, 2010 at 10:58 pm

Meant to say we are going to fucking win this division..nothing else matters as Hetfield would say…

  73. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:01 pm

And it was in response to Chucklefuck’s remark that I was “whining” about percentages. I wasn’t whining about shit. They are not in first fucking place. Period. You know how many times I’ve told these nellies to settle down, everything’s cool? Maybe, oh: a fucking THOUSAND times. Now after all the “it’s over”, ” HEADS MUST ROLL”.. the dumbfucks are celebrating second place… they’ll be in first, boys, I’ve told you that. Let’s celebrate when they get there, OK?

    • unca chuck said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:28 pm

      0 games behind, baby!

Yeah, it doesn’t sound as good, but it’s sure nice to get there.

  74. Michael said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:03 pm

Perhaps it’s meant to be when Huff makes what could very well have been the bonehead move of the year and it turns to gold..

    • zumarust said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:06 pm

The Giants caught some breaks tonight. They couldn’t seem to catch any breaks against the Pads earlier this year.

    • snarkk said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:09 pm

That’s the Power of the Thong….

  75. wswinb4igo said, on September 10, 2010 at 11:03 pm

I’ll say that espn standings have the % chance of making the PS, and the Giants are 59.6 and the pads are 52.7
