And on the 5th Day, God Created a Loss…..
Here it comes. Can you feel it? Right now it’s just a few leaves blowing around outside, the faintest wind is starting to kick up. But it’s coming. By 7:10pm he’ll stride to the top of the hill in the middle of a raging hurricane of bad luck, broken promises and fake hustle. The team hasn’t won a game he’s pitched in since August 11th…….
I was surprised to look at the overall team win totals when each of the 4 starts have pitched this year.
Dirrrrty: team has won 19 times that he’s pitched
Timmy: also 19 times
Cain: 16 wins
Zito: 14 wins…..
The team has won 14 times when Zito’s pitched this year? I had to check to see if those were the team wins for his career. It wasn’t, it was for 2010. Zito is kryptonite to the “W”. And yet, somehow we’ve won 14 times this year when he’s taken the hill.
The team has won games that Zito has pitched in this year. Just keep reminding yourself of that fact tonight if you start thinking about “Zito’s Law” during tonight’s game……..
Uh oh. Dennis is over the edge.
Man, who else loses games like this? I’m sure somebody else does, but it doesn’t seem like it.
I said earlier today this one was a toss up. The Zitoid curse is just too strong, plus Gmen can’t hit Kershaw no way, no how. Unfortunate…
Never had a chance in this one
F.U.C.K. Cain beats Barbara tomorrow. Colorado wakes up and handles the Dagos.
Who the fuck dressed Urban, his mother? His goddamn tie is showing underneath his collar.
I REALLY hate him now. No excuse for not being neat and tidy. NONE.
I saw nothing given by Rohand that Ford would give any worse. Ford should get a start, try to create some havoc on the basepaths…
You can forget about Ford getting ANY starts. Bochy all but ruled out that he’d start in center.
Barring any more injuries of course. NO FORD. Sorry.
He SHOULD get a start or two. In light of all these tight games, this team has zero speed or chance at any small ball without Ford playing more than the cameo PR role. But, Ford WON”T play, because Bonehead is comfortable with the Ohfers or 1-4s we can all mail in for Rohand and his .220 sorry azz BA. Bonehead would rather take the heat for that predictable horse manure, but not a POSSIBLE Ford screw up somewhere. Absolutely ridiculous….
My bad. Rohand’s BA is .229….
Well, so much for that. Zito’s law it is.
Oh i think you call it just right Ms. Ferret. The offense was atrocious. And Uribe’s miscue was the difference.
Shit, Ferret’s on the ledge with Dennis!!!
Gawd. Zito’s cursed even more than usual.
Hightlights?
Flav and Twin are both right:
Flav?: The Zito Laws
Twin?: Zito is The Prince if Darkness
Me?: I’m telling you folks, Von Sydow can use the bucks
The makings of a summer block buster (Buster?).
14 shut outs, five of them 1-0.
Flav, you nailed it. I don’t know how much less the team could do for B-Zit. Sure, it’s Kershaw. He’s good. But that’s a real failure of approach and a failure to adjust. I too think Rowand’s got in it him somewhere to respond, but he may have buried it too deep.
To cruelly paraphrase ferrett:
Woo……who?
well that was a real pisser…I said all day yesterday that Huff should be sitting against Kershaw. I have been mostly praising Bochy this year, but you got to play percentages this time of the year and whatever Huff did earlier in the season against lefties, he aint doing it now. Rowand should be nowhere near the lineup right now. Yeah, yeah, putting Ross at center and Guillen in left is not the preferred solution but we need offense right now and even with questions with Guillen, he is showing more with the bat than Rowand.
I also made mention of Burriss hitting leadoff to shake things up and playing short. Uribe has played well defensively so I am not saying having Uribe there cost us the game. Kershaw pitched great and the offense did not show up. It looked to me that both Velez and Panda both were not running out their ground balls late in the game. Did anyone else catch that?
I only epxected two wins this series, and Zito outpitched what we feared would happen, let’s cpme back strong. I expect Rockies will get tomorrow’s game, so we can get back to a half game quite easily…Padres have held on two nights in a row…
It wasn’t that Velez wasn’t running out the grounder, it’s what we’ve seen for years now- he absolutely twists himself into a knot batting righthanded, and by the time he unwinds and starts running to first, it’s always too late. He’s a real fast runner, but he never beats out an infield hit batting righthanded, no matter how tough a play for the fielder.
ok i will buy that, but then I never ever pinch hit him right-handed…
You are so full of shit with your criticisms of Huff.
No you are full of shit James..what has Huff done for 6 weeks plus????? Not hit lefties too well.
It aint rocket science to think Huff aint going to do shit against Kershaw…you cant put an automatic out in the 3-hole..it is fuckign basic baseball. Load up the righties and play the percentages…
Huff generally takes among the best ABs of the regulars, regardless of LHs or RHs. He stays. Pablo should definitely sit against LHers, he’s proven all year to be crap against them from the right side…
Ladies and gentlemen (question mark), I will *not* dwell on this shit.
Goodnight, seeya tomorow
And, there’s always tomorrow! New day, new game – new pitcher!!!
Screw “tomorrow”. If the Giants keep this up, they’re going to Scarlet themselves out of a playoff spot….
Boooo-Hoooooo!!!
To bookend our morning subject: “The Whos down in Who-ville will all cry BOO-HOO!”
Kershaw is the Grinch who stole the Giants’ October!
You gotta start Huff tonight. You dance with the one that brought ya.
Panda is the one that needs to sit. He suxxxxxx against LHs, all year….
Sandoval will look great in a Marlin uniform. Almost as good as Hanley will look in orange & black.
It could have been worse. Except for one pitch to one batter in the second Zito would have lost a no-hitter.
“If the Giants keep this up” Keep up 7 of 11?
He denies it, but Snarkk is never happier than after a loss. His posts resonate with delight. He’s scum..
This game and other one runners, toadstool. They’ve got to find some consistent offense…
I have loved Huff all year and was advocating his pickup last year at the trade deadline. But if anyone knows how to find his stats hitting lefties since August 1, I would bet it is under .200.
Kershaw is very nasty on lefties, I dont see what we lose giving him a night off. Rent could have played short, a little more range than Uribe and Renteria has played solid d when he was in there. Uribe at third and Panda at first.
My only ciriticism of Bochy really all season is that he is too regimented in sticking with the vets come hell or high water. Huff will rake righties for the rest of the year but made no sense for him to start tonight…Rowand, his one start tonight should have him sitting the rest of the series…
Well, duh, if they keep losing… Look, you’re hardly the only idiot who runs in circles after every loss, just the happiest to be doing it.
You’re the one that’s happy when they lose. I hate it when they lose. For you, no biggee, play another one, keep trotting out Rohand, Panda, whatever, Bochy managing every game like an automaton by the book is just fine and dandy. Ford comes in too late for a shot in the dark PR in the 9th, and he doesn’t even get to TRY to steal. Don’t change anything, don’t try anything different. I say, fuck that. And good night all…
There might be a decent chance that we see Nate tomorrow. He’s 6 for 11 against Billingsley so I’d say if he doesn’t start tomorow, he’s not going to at all.
My guess:
Ross CF
Sanchez 2B
Huff 1B
Posey C
Burrell LF
Uribe SS
Sandoval 3B
Nate the Great RF
Maybe Panda should be hitting 8th 😦 Frustrating having him on two fantasy teams…
ciao then gents…let’s win two…
For the amusement of the literati:

Missed the game … but I look at the pitch count and the walks and I know about how things went, don’t I? A lot of ugly ABs helping the pitcher out? Hope I’m wrong.
Kershaw was excellent. Definitely some swinging out of the zone, but credit this one to the pitcher.
For reasons that are unimportant, I went back and looked through some posts when I was in the hospital after my surgery last year. Made me cry.
Loo: sorry, buddy.
Pablo. Pablo. Pablo. Sophomore slump R us.
Got him! No doubter, Cain POTG
