A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One More Day of East Coast Bluster

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 15, 2010

I really haven’t read much on this series, a little of what you guys post here and some ESPN “analysis”– it’s pointless, the national media guys don’t know anything about this team. They act like they do, they wear snappy suits and talk with great affection in their voice. Hell, they’re on tv, they’re supposed to know what they’re talkin’ bout, right?

Idiots…..

Filly may indeed win this series and it might not go the distance. But all the games are going to be competitive, each game could easily come down to a single hit or one mistake by the other team. If that’s the case then how the hell does that make Filly this guaranteed, bet-both-lungs-and-the-mortgage LOCK? If you knew in advance that the horse race you were betting on was coming down to a head bob at the wire you certainly wouldn’t dump your $ on the 1-5 favorite (unless you’re Dennis 🙂 )

The Giants couldn’t be in a better spot— very little pressure on this team the rest of the way. They’re SUPPOSED to lose, right? But what happens when they don’t? Play loose, play TOGETHER, and good things will happen this series….

In case any of you have missed it, Michael is offering up another prize by way of the contest that you can read about directly to the right of this page……

Man Robinson Cano is such a great player.Just Money! One of the best in the game. The Evil Empire strikes back.

So C.J. runs outta gas and i was wondering about that deRangers bullpen. Well wonder no more with a tie score…and counting. Darren Oliver has been a good reliever over his career and posted an excellent ERA this year and a very nice BB-K ratio, but i guess the pressure of facing the Evil Empire in the Post Season was just not something he was prepared to handle.

Texas made great strides in improving their rotation this season and developed a pretty good closer. But the importance of the total bullpen can never be overlooked.

They’re still the Washington Senators in disguise.
    Bring in Frank Bertaina!

done; that game is done as much as spare ribs left on the BBQ are done, overdone, while you plow the back 40; done

  8. DJLoo said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:14 pm

    Yanks’ll win 14-5.

they’re cursed ’cause they dissed Bengie

  10. stixwiz said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:28 pm

4th time lucky. Unheralded, unknown 4th reliever for Texas finally got the job done. Derek Holland, loogie, shut down the bottom of the Evil Empires order. But the DeRangers now trail 6-5. Damage done.
Most major league teams make the mistake of undervaluing their bullpens. Decent to pretty effective relievers are not extremely expensive. A very good BP can be established with an outlay of less than 20M/ season. But most teams go for the glamor of one or two Big Boppers instead.

Oh MY…That was a real boner play by Kinsler.Rangers self destructing by the Power of the Dark side.

The most frustrating thing in baseball is bullpen meltdowns. It’s such a helpless feeling for the fans.

  13. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:35 pm

As giants fans we’ve got almost no idea what it’s like to lose a 5-0 lead with 3 innings to play: but that kind of shit happens all the time. Texas had such a great story line going tonight. Who knows , maybe they blow their own minds with a win in the 9th. But I think they lost the series tonight with that single fucked up inning. They just proved to themselves that literally no lead is safe. That’s a shitty place to be

    • zumarust said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:41 pm

Yeah, normally game 1 wouldn’t be so decisive, but if the Rangers lose this one, it’s a huge blow psychologically.

  14. zumarust said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Jeter is still as pesky as ever.

  15. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:44 pm

But jeter has been shitty for weeks if not months. I watch a ton of Yankee games, he’s been “panda-esque” for long stretches of 2010. Maybe the time off helped him

  16. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:50 pm

Rivera gas pitched in 91 ps games? That’s insane.

  17. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:53 pm

Watch the AL try to sacrifice bunt is like being forced to beat off to a bbw video

  18. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:57 pm

Where did that idiotic, pointless blue box strike zone go?

  19. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:59 pm

Great Yankee win. I’m totally rooting for them. There’s no other team I’d rather face in the ws

  20. delmardennis said, on October 15, 2010 at 8:59 pm

Thanks for playing and better luck next year Rangers.

  21. alleykat said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:01 pm

The Yankees are just the Yankees. You can never bury this team deep enough. The Rangers are toast now.Book it! They will never recover from this.

    • ewisco said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:06 pm

and that’s one of the great differences with the giants. they’ve lost like this repeatedly this year. yet, they come back, win the next. let’s see if the rangers have any moxie.

    • delmardennis said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Speaking of booking, the Rangers should book the next available tee time at Pebble–fini.

      • ewisco said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:21 pm

you know what dennis, i’m not so sure about that. the rangers won three times on the road to get to this point. i’m not saying that they’ll repeat that, as they have to win a game at home to advance, but they’re not toast yet.

      • ewisco said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:22 pm

that being said, i’d love to have their tee time at pebble if they advance.

At the stroke of midnight FOX went dark on my TV.
    Amazing!

come back to the west! follow the light!

  23. stixwiz said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:02 pm

Wonder if the deRangers missed Chris Ray tonight. Though he’s well down on the Giants reliever list, he might have made the difference in that one.

  24. ewisco said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:02 pm

as interesting as that was, because either team looks vulnerable, it’s

    FUCKING GAME TIME!!!!!!!

  25. unca_chuck said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:03 pm

Does one week ago ring a bell, Flav? 3 run lead with 2 to play?

  26. alleykat said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Hey i want the Giants and Yanks too.Great network draw. Then you bring out Bobby Richardson and Willie McCovey for the memories of game 7.It would be awesome.Bring them on!!! We need revenge of 1962!!!!

    • cristin said, on October 16, 2010 at 8:48 am

AGREED! Giants Yanks would make my WS.

  27. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:14 pm

I’m not really sweatin’ revengin’ ’62. I just want a WS win.

  28. snarkk said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:17 pm

Yankees ARE the Dark Side. Not only do they have an awesome lineup, they play fundamental ball, they take great ABs, and they just wear your ass down. I would Luv to have the Giants take them on…

    • zumarust said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:21 pm

Not sure I follow the logic. I’m for avoiding the Yankees.

  29. Flavor said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:22 pm

I think we match up great with them. They’re used to, as you say, “wearing you down”. You don’t wear down our pitching, it’s rock solid 24/7. And their pitching is a little above average. They have ps experience on us and that huge. But they are totally beatable

    • zumarust said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:25 pm

OK- I’m starting to see the logic.

    • snarkk said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:37 pm

If you wanna be the best, beat the best. Phillies first, though….

  30. ewisco said, on October 15, 2010 at 9:44 pm

i look at the yankees and i see an aging jeter, rivera, posada and pettitte. not that they can’t still be a pain in the ass, but they’re a long way from their hay day. i see curtis f ‘ing granderson and really, other than teixeira, cano and maybe a-rod (still spotty in the ps) they’ve got who? lance berkman? nick swisher? marcus thames? Kerry wood?

    be still my beating heart.

  31. ewisco said, on October 15, 2010 at 10:08 pm

Looking at snarkk’s comment i have to add, we were living in nj the year that they won 116 (scott brosius at third). I wasn’t a big yankee fan but my wife was so we listened or watched most games on the radio/tv (she still remembers sitting by the pool with the game on). but the thing i remember vividly, is that they took EVERY at bat, so seriously. they could be up 5-0 and everyone still approached every pitch like it was game 7 of the WS. Maybe jeter has continued the tradition.

That would be something that the current g’s could learn from.

    or not.

While wasting time on the splash, I argued that Lincecum is the very emblem of the leftcoast. Now I think that’s a pretty good notion. Let em have it.

I’ve been away for a couple hours (my new stupid fucking play opened tonight) so I just spent the last 20 minutes reading all this shit and got caught up with the fucking ALCS thanks to you all…my brethren.
