A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

How Many More Hours to Go? Tick tock, tick tock…

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 30, 2010

Sorry about all those videos, I think when the main thread is too far down it’s hard for people to find. 3:57 start time. I’ve got some free Halloween candy for whoever posts the LU first….

I’m gonna go out and pretend to run errands or something. Me and Katie are getting our hair cut. Maybe a trip to IKEA (not to buy anything, she likes to play in the “Kid Land” thing they have there). Lunch. Buy some accessories for the hamster cage. Then hope we’re almost at game time………

It looks to me like TX has a bigger strike zone
Or Lewis is dealing much better than it looks from here

  2. eddacker2 said, on October 30, 2010 at 5:52 pm

We all knew 4-0 just wouldn’t be torture

  4. delmardennis said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:05 pm

Pat Burrell blows both Mario and Luigi.

Cody Ross on the other hand, does not. CO-DEE! We’re on the board.

  5. alleykat said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:06 pm

    How’s that Texas…Rodeo Clown muscling up….Cody!!!!!!

I’ve seen enough Panda for the entire Series, thank you…

  8. Craig said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:16 pm

That was a huge run for us, even if it’s the last run. Shut out woulda sucked. And I repeat, let us get into their bullpen. 6 more outs could turn into the ultimate defeat of time….

  9. unca_chuck said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:18 pm

Burrell needs to sit . . . At least Panda’s making contact. Burrel and Posey

Time to get this fucker NOW.are watching pitches down Broadway . . .. .

  10. unca_chuck said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:18 pm

  17. stixwiz said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:24 pm

    un-fuck good job huff

  19. max808 said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:27 pm

Here’s where Bochy brings in Wilson, while Wash will wait to get Flea.

  20. delmardennis said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:35 pm

WTF is he trying to pull that outside shit? You knew he was gonna go w/ the slurve away.
He shook Bengie off 3 or 4 times then met at the mound. That was the only pitch he was comfortable with.

  21. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:36 pm

    I’ve been indisposed for awhile…you know, the herb Rice-aroni isn’t bad…

  22. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:40 pm

As bad as he’s looked, Pat is the perfect guy to lead off-gotta make the kid throw strikes.

  23. slo_roll said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:43 pm

another good effort by the bullpen – now it is time to demoralize these guys

  24. Kevin said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:45 pm

Okay lets make the Ninth inning count!! They tie it here!!

  25. delmardennis said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:45 pm

    Pat and Cody 0for 3 combined w/ a K vs the Flea.
Shit, I’d think of PHing Shitholtz, but I know Bochy won’t do it.

  26. delmardennis said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:48 pm

He shoulda Rudi Steined that ball.

He fucking suxxx. Jesus H. Christ.

  27. zumarust said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:49 pm

Burrell’s bat has a hole in it.

  28. stixwiz said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:49 pm

    Wonder if Burrell sits tomorrow.

  29. max808 said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:49 pm

Have to think you sit the Bat tomorrow.

  30. delmardennis said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:53 pm

    Son of a motherless fuck.

  31. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:54 pm

Well, not a bad effort all in all. Pat killed them more than Dirty did. Dirty made some big pitches to Moreland, that was just a great AB by the kid. MadBum/Hunter, we’re going up 3-1…

  32. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:55 pm

I think we’l see Pat but Huff will DH, Ishi at first. But I can live with the Gamer instead of Pat.

    • Bozo said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:06 pm

Good call on the gamer Twin. I think that should be the call (maybe Pat as DH)

  33. stixwiz said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:56 pm

Feliz is one nasty MoFo. Too bad the Giants couldn’t work Lewis better. Unless they do run out their Ace tomorrow, the pickings should be improved. I like the matchup of Bumgarner and Hunter or whoever else Texas trots out there.

Bullpen was magnificent again. Sanchez had one bad inning and walking Bengie was the key. We win one in Texas and its ours.

  34. DJLoo said, on October 30, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Sanchez has crossed back over to Zito territory which means we’re fucked if it goes 7.

  35. ferrethead said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Just in case any of us forgot why this team slogan features the word ‘torture’ – I submit Exhibit A: Game 3…

I love Jonathan Sanchez, but he really is his own worst enemy out there. Good thing there’s another game tomorrow – Go Giants!!!!

  36. snarkk said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:00 pm

I sit Burrell. Nomo Panda, ever in this Series. Try Ishi at first, he might pull one into that bullshit short RF pavillion, Huff can DH. OK, we lost one. Go get it tomorrow. One game at a time…

    • DJLoo said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Sit all of them…..Tommy, Salvy, your brother…
      All of them!

  37. Bozo said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:08 pm

The math is still the same. We just gotta win 2 from these guys.

    • DJLoo said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:14 pm

One of ’em better be tomorrow…

  38. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:13 pm

Being a tad hard on Dirty, people. One pitch, come on, and that was after about 5 good ones. He hardly imploded…our boys just flat missed about 10 hangers… no reason to change the call: Giants in 5.

  39. xootsuit said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:15 pm

Burrell’s swing looked old and slow tonight. Still, I would be surprised to see a big shakeup in the LU tomorrow. Huff DH makes sense, with Ishi at 1B. Burrell’s D has been pretty damn good, so you’re not giving up much there if you leave him in to look for his power swing.

I didn’t see the Pablo strike out. On the radio, Miller and Morgan were falling on the floor laughing about the swing at the curve in the dirt. Morgan pointed out that Molina had slapped the ground with his mitt to call for the pitch in the dirt. Miller wondered whether the batter might notice a signal like that. Morgan surmised that with Pablo it probably doesn’t matter. Miller agreed. In fact, he suggested, if you let Pablo know how far out of the strike zone the ball will be you probably increase the chances he’ll swing. Sadly, their joke may be close to the truth.

Tx has good numbers against lefties. Bum needs to step up big time tomorrow. Of course, the quick Bochy hook will be ready, in any event. Just get to the Tx bullpen, guys. Do that and everything will be fine.

  40. DJLoo said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:18 pm

Whatever the result, Morgan always knows the cause.

  41. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:19 pm

No history qagainst Hunter-Pat 1 for 3, Ross 0 for 1, that’s it. He’s given up a boatload of HRs-21 in 128 innings regular season. MadBum has a tendency there as well, early in the game.

  42. slo_roll said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:26 pm

good d tonight, good bullpen tonite, take away 2 pitches and it is a shutout so sanchez didn’t get pounded by any stretch. the way the “aggressive” bochy has been managing maybe burrell sits tomorrow. i’d still like to see panda once more…. in philly he did have a couple of big ab’s. it would be less stressful going into lee’s game 3-1 vs. 2-2.

  43. TedSpe said, on October 30, 2010 at 7:41 pm

    Worry not, my lads
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a baseball team there lived whom you may know
By the name of The Giants, I believe
And this team, she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
    In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
    I and my SF Giants by the sea;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
    Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
    My beautiful SF Giants to appease;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
    Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my SF Giants, I notteth believe

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful SF Giants by the sea

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
    Of the beautiful SF Giants by the sea;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
    Of the beautiful SF Giants at ease;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

The Giants;sweet Giants shall not be a loss
by leave they shalt own fie leaves
But Lincecum, Bochy, Posey and such
    Shall verily win
    At ease

      Poe
      Happy Halloween, motherfuckers!
      Bochy hadda chalk them one.
      No worries
      2010 World Series Champions?
      GIANTS MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!
It’s early so let me get this out of the way.
      Goodnight, gentlemen (question mark)

  44. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:04 pm

    The LU I expect tomorrow:
    Torres CF
    Sanchez 2B
    Huff DH
    Posey C
    Ross RF
    Burrell LF
    Uribe 3B
    Ishikawa 1B
    Renteria SS

  45. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:16 pm

Bip is a fucking idiot, even FuckPaul looks smart next to him. There is no way you question pitching around Molina to get to the LHer… and boys: forget Game 7, it ain’t happening. This will end in Texas Monday…

    • TedSpe said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:21 pm

      So it shall be written
      So it shall be done

    • twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:27 pm

With that said, and Sanchez throwing 87, remember one name: Barry Zito…

  46. Flavor said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:19 pm

good enough first game tonight. That one dumb ass at bat to Shithead……you could just see that coming. Right field is locked and loaded for target. They scored 4 fucking runs off us, big deal. The only thing I would want too see change is Pat the Bat. He isn’t coming a million miles away from hitting the ball. And he’s not really being fooled he’s just swinging through whatever the fuck he thinks that pitch is. And Pablo…. enough. Go Ishikawa at first and Huff at DH. Either that or give Nate a shot out in the OF and have Burrell sit or DH. It’s not a bad thing to improve your defense…….

    • TedSpe said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:23 pm

      Okay.
      But NO Whitey

  47. Kevin said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:22 pm

Twin, thank god there is a voice of reason, I have no problem with todays loss. I was down on Jonathan also but you are right 1 bad pitch and that kid did battle him. This is the way everyone thought these games would go!! don’t lie anyone, 4-2 is more of what we giants fans are use to. The Giants scoring 10 a game probably won’t happen again. With that said yes Giants need to win 1!! and can win 2.

  48. unca_chuck said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Tomorrow’s game becomes pretty large. Pat missed a ton of fat ones. So did Posey, but the G’s still have the advantage here.

Pat definitely sits. Row gets in there.

I wasn’t too crazy about walking Molina, but I get it. It”s just that you usually have to work hard to do that.

  49. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:32 pm

Even the local guys are acting like this is a “new series”. Bullfuckingshit. It’s even if/when Texas is UP 3-2. Giants have the hammer. Period. Texas needs the next two to even the HF. No way I sit Burrell if I’m the manager. Hunter is a HR machine and you go with the HR dudes. Pat plays.

  50. San Dog said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:47 pm

I’ve never liked Pat’s game, and wanted nothing to do with signing him, but he ended up being a great addition and I would keep trotting him out there.
Panda being swapped out for Ishi sounds great to me.
Sanchez pitching Game 7 would be the ultimate final act for a season of torture.
I think it’s almost destined to happen.

  51. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 8:59 pm

The kids are getting caramel apples and money tomorrow. I’ve got a couple hundrd bucks in coins, handfuls of that until it runs out. The kids I know get the apples, too. The rest get broccoli.

    • snarkk said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:06 pm

Fuckin A. Oracle handing out cash? I’m Trick or Treatin in his neighborhood.

I’ll wear a Boch mask. When the door opens, I’ll say “Well, uh…, uh…, Trick or Treat, uh… the guys played hard…” and Oracle’lll hand over a fin…

I said it yesterday, i’ll say it again, pat is not seeing the ball worth shit. you have to sit him. that being the case, you dh huff, play ishi at first and I think, you give nate a shot at right. i just don’t think panda has done near enough to keep being put out there. nate and travis have to be talking to themselves about how the fuck you get into the lineup. shit, i can stand there and watch strike three, though my defense has fallen off over the years.

  53. slo_roll said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:06 pm

I’d like to see burrell rest for 1 game, ishi to first, huff to OF and pablo one more shot against a righthander as dh ….. gut feel he has one game in him. most of all, win tomorrow would be huge. sanchez in a game 7 would be a fitting end for this season, hope it doesn’t happen. giants lose tomorrow and i think it goes 7.

    • snarkk said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Fuk Pablo anymore in this Series. If he can’t take any pitches and stop swinging at bullshit at this late date, it ain’t happenin. Pablo sits and gets to know Jenny Craig up close and personal until next March…

  54. San Dog said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:07 pm

Straight cash homey? Randy Moss would be proud.

I’m going with all Tootsie Roll products—lollipops, traditional, and vanilla Tootsie Rolls. I live in one of those neighborhoods where there are a ton of trick or treaters—–including packs of kids who come in by van just to hit all the houses around here.

  55. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:07 pm

Why the fuck would any sane person play Nate before Rowand in the WS? Dumb dumb dumb. IF they sit Pat it has to be Torres, Rowand, Ross left to right… but the call should be: Pat plays.

  56. blade3colorado said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:12 pm

Bottom of the order – starting with Burrell, were 1 for 17 (Ross getting the only hit) . . . Even though Hunter hasn’t lost at Arlington, he is the “weak sister” of this pitching staff. Not certain they were serious, but they supposedly gave consideration to going with a 3-man rotation in both the Tampa Bay series and this one, i.e., not exactly an endorsement of Hunter.

Hunter is not overpowering and he doesn’t strike out many batters. Opposition batting average against him this year is .255 and batters have a fairly robust .265 career average against him.

Consequently, I’m looking for the Giants to “chase him” early and get into their bullpen. If that happens, their proverbial “wad” will have been shot and they will have to rely upon Lee entirely in the 5th game.

Don’t let anyone convince you that the Giants aren’t in the driver’s seat . . . They are. Go Giants!

  57. twinfan said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Talk to you all tomorrow, God and Myers willing…

  58. unca_chuck said, on October 30, 2010 at 9:43 pm

One of the next 2 and they are golden.

  59. ewisco said, on October 30, 2010 at 10:39 pm

burrell is 0 for 9, 8 strikeouts and 2 walks. so that’s the right call.? keep him up there striking out? not putting it in play, not hitting it hard. k. good call.

as for the incredible nate/rowand debate, they’re both hitting 1.00 in the series, rowand with two rbi’s and nate with one. but looking at the season, we see rowand hitting .230 with 16 walks and 74 k’s while nate hit .242 with 20 walks and 30 k’s in more at bats. but many of nate’s at bats were one or two at bats a game.

do the goddamn math. he’s not fucking wonder boy but what’s he have to do to get a better shot than rowand? blow someone?

you keep rowand in the ph role. all that ws experience don’t you know. maybe if poor shivering nate can get a couple of at-bats in a row he, you know, might get some fucking experience.

  60. DJLoo said, on October 31, 2010 at 7:39 am

Nate’s also a lefty bat, can run, and of course play D. Absolutely give him a shot Sunday. And don’t make him blow anybody, please…

  61. blade3colorado said, on October 31, 2010 at 7:41 am

    Ewwwwwww . . . Agree.

  62. twinfan said, on October 31, 2010 at 9:03 am

Ewisco is a congenial fellow but alas, an idiot about line ups. As nearly all of you are.
“Keep him up there striking out?”
Obviously, moron, that is not the idea. And this notion that Nate never got his shot is the dumbest, most unsupportable piece of shit ever. So just shut the fuck up about it. He’s a decent 4 or 5 OFer, PERIOD.
Leave the thinking to me, you boys take care of the peanut butter cups tonight…
