A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

What a Great Game

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 13, 2011

Last night’s game was everything Monday’s game wasn’t. Coming back from a 3 run deficit against Lady Billingsley is not an easy task. Rowand came through not once but twice and that’s the only reason he beats out Mota for POTG—if Mota doesn’t do what he did this game is over. I just don’t know how to do a split-screen picture of 2 dudes or they would be co-POTG……

Posey got it going, Pablo’s double was electric, Wilson chipped his ERA down to a svelte 19.29. Hell, even Belt got a hit….

Our defense still sucked but you can’t have everything. Great win…..

Bozo the Clown is in first place. As noted by Snarkk, Mayan 2012 is upon us…….

DeRosa scratched ain’t good, my suspicions on the wrist are heating up. When we hear something, it’ll be out of the blue, as usual. The Wrist Watch continues…

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 7:55 pm

Man, the Giants aren’t getting much “field time” for their $12 million with DeRosa.

  3. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 7:53 pm

Rowand’s batting stance is even worse this year.

Looks like he’s waving his junk around . . .

    Whatever works, I suppose . . .

DeRosa has to be close to retiring now…

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:01 pm

He might have a career in coaching ahead of him, if he wants it. Supposedly, the Giants feel like he acted like an extra coach last season. He was helpful in that regard.

Looks like some Drrrrty Dealin goin on tonight. Yeahh! Just tuned in. Got company earlier in the evening and was getting mighty hungry. Made a fire in the cookstove ~ stix got plenty good wood on hand. Peeled down some of my garden potatoes from last year. Got one of my yellow onions sauteing down.Plopped a smoked porkchop into the pan. A lot of folks raise and butcher their own critters. Sometimes i swap and stuff. Added some Paisano from Cali at $10 the gallon, a soupcon of V-8 juice and a hint of sweetened Hmong soy sauce. Replaced the lid on the #10 self-basting Griswold and cleaned up a few things.

Added a bunch of water later along ~potato water ~ and some cumin over the top of the chop. Let er rip for awhile. Threw in some oat flour for a five-minute thickening quickie. Got out the plate and utensils and something to drink. Loaded it up and hied to the table. I ain’t Duncan Hines, but this one comes recommended out in the sticks.

FYI, talked to a Mets fan here on business from Long Island. Said of Reyes, “You can have him.” Thought he might be OK if surrounded by vets that would make him hustle, esp. on a winning team. And he did mention how screwed their ownership is for $$$ with the Madoff issue, and how they aren’t going to pay Reyes to stick around.

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:13 pm

Things are pretty bleak for the Mets these days, indeed.

  16. Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:15 pm

This fuck is a royal pain in the ass. Killing us again.

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:16 pm

It seems like 50th homerun he’s hit against the Giants.

  17. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:16 pm

Fuck. Pipe the FB 1-2?? Not a good pitch there, Jon

  19. zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:20 pm

The Rockies are off to a good start, but I think they’ve played Arizona, Pittsburgh, and the Mets so far.

  20. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:23 pm

Seems like Sanchez often sticks himself with one of those dirty innings. Goes with the territory, i guess. Fortunately, the Runs Scored insurance included full coverage for a two-run dinger, so at the half-inning mark it’s even stephen.

Time to geld the Lilly once again and get over the nonsense.

  21. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:27 pm

Expose Brandon to a less than sterling starter for a change and he belts his average clear up to the Mendoza Line.

  22. James said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:28 pm

Barajas has hit 6 of his last 19 HRs against the Giants.

  24. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:53 pm

Terrible call on Uribe going around on that third strike. Not close to a swing. We’ll take it…

  25. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:56 pm

Then that ball 4 was belt high across the plate, called a ball. Crazy…

  26. James said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:58 pm

Terrible call on ball 4 to Thames.

  27. Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 8:59 pm

With Lilly on deck, Dirrty serves up a fat one on 3-1. Stoopid is as stoopid does.

  28. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:00 pm

With the pitcher on deck, WTF is Sanchez throwing a knee high FB over the plate?…

    • snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:01 pm

Then Lilly waives at a strike three. Idiotic pitching sequence there that gave them a run for nada…

  29. Flavor said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:01 pm

I’ve got people over right now, game isn’t on, but I just snuck into my office and caught the 2nd hit by pitch on Buster. That was an obvious throw to the player. Lilly has impeccable control. Payback for the Uribe shit. Sorry if this has already been posted I haven’t yet gotten to read all the comments……..

    • DJLoo said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:07 pm

Well, why isn’t the game on? What are they, a bunch of homos?

  30. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:01 pm

    Sanchez brain-farted again . . .

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:03 pm

I don’t know if you can blame that one on Sanchez. It looked like he threw it right where Posey’s glove was.

      • snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:04 pm

Blame ’em both then. If that costs the ball game, it was ridiculous…

    Pablo to the rescue!

  32. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:05 pm

    Just in time . . .

  33. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:06 pm

Yeah, 3-1 with the pitcher on deck, you don;t need to give in to the hitter.

  34. zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:07 pm

    Pablo’s got it going on!

  35. willied said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:07 pm

Wow, nice shot that got out in a hurry, and Sanchez is off the hook. They can still make him a winner.

  36. Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:07 pm

I hope that HR reminds Bochy that batting Pablo down in the order vs lefties, especially 8th, is foolish.

    RUNT POWER!

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:12 pm

Pablo needed to prove that. He has now.

    No frickin’ way!

  40. willied said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:09 pm

Guess that is what Stix meant by gelding the Lilly.

  41. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:09 pm

Pandas sometimes chew on a tough, hard piece of bamboo until it gets quite an edge. Good gelding tool.

  42. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:09 pm

Bum PHing? Ok, whatever. The Torres thing not on the DL and DeRosa out = playing with 23 vs. 25. That can’t go on…

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:11 pm

They seem confident that Torres will be ready this weekend.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:11 pm

Franchez has a bum shoulder, that makes 22.

      • snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:12 pm

Damn, you’re right. That ain’t cool, especially if you go extras. They gotta make a move if Torres can’t go…

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:18 pm

        They’ll make a move if Torres can’t go…they’ll a 13th pitcher.

He reminds me of Danny Gladden…

  44. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:13 pm

Curly Joe may not be from Kokomo. Fact is, the spicy lil’ Cajun comes from hot-sauce country, not too far from where they make Tabasco sauce. Helps cauterize the wound. Bamboo, laden with Pandajuice, can be lethal all by itself. Sometimes those become wounds that never heal. So you might term Curly Joe the lil’ French dude who delivers the coup de grace.

    • Bozo said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:18 pm

stix – are you saying that Font is from Avery Island? Because that’s a pretty weird place.

      • unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:19 pm

Like the rest of Louisiana isn’t?

      • Bozo said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:26 pm

Chuck have you been there? Dude, I’ve been a couple of times (80s) and it is weirder than the West Banks (which is pretty fucking weird).

      • stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:26 pm

Nah. By Northwoods standards, just about the whole of Cajun country is close and comfy.

      • unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Been to La. a couple times, but not Avery Island . . .

  45. Bozo said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:13 pm

    • unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:16 pm

With DeRosa gone, we’ll be seeing more of the little guy . . .

  46. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:19 pm

Sheezus, Burrell seems like he’s given up more bases on D to the opposition already than he did all last season…

    • unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:20 pm

At least it didn’t squirt past him.

      Shit. Kemp.

    • DJLoo said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:21 pm

Just more evidence of what a miracle last year was, Snarkk.

  47. DJLoo said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:20 pm

Burrell is an absolute disaster out there.

  48. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:21 pm

Oh dear God. This matchup scares the shit out of me.

  49. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:23 pm

    Wow . . . Those sliders got slower and slower . . .

  50. James said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:23 pm

Looks like Romo survived his brain farts.

  51. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:30 pm

What the heck happened there? Rohand on a straight steal doesn’t make a lotta sense, Tejada must have missed a sign. Sloppy play again…

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:34 pm

You gotta give it up to Romo on that one. He’s fearless with that frisbee.

      • James said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:41 pm

Yep, but it will get whacked every once in a while, like Manny’s HR off of Romo last year. It has nothing to do with brain farts or mistakes to location.

Lilly threw 3 belt high fastballs down the middle to Posey in the AB he K’ed. Mistakes? The pitch Sanchez threw to Miles was not only to the target, it was also off the plate.

  52. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:31 pm

Row-Row trying sometimes gets to be a bit trying. Something about this hero thing may have got to his effect ~ or its the Rowand effect working its ‘magic’ on Methuselah.

  53. Bozo said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:37 pm

I’ve gotta hand this 4-3 game off to y’all on the West coast. This clown is a bit fried.
    Cheers.

      Good night, dude!

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:43 pm

For good luck, pal. Fuck you, Bozo!

  54. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:38 pm

Burrell in left late in a close game just is not where you wanna be. Rollin the dice with this no DL stuff and Torres is playing with fire…

    • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:39 pm

You’ll have to clarify “No DL stuff.” I have no idea what you’re talking about.

      • unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:42 pm

Disabled list . . . Keeping Torres on the active roster and not calling up a healthy player.

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:42 pm

They bring in Nate to play RF, but don’t move Huff to LF to replace Burrell?

      • unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:43 pm

Burrell’s leading off the bottom of the 8th.

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:45 pm

So you put Nate in his spot.

      • zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:46 pm

Nate against Kuo. That ain’t happening.

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:49 pm

We need the defense, not the offense. Leaving Burrell in LF is/was tempting fate.

  55. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:41 pm

    That’s where I like to see his slider . . .

  56. zumarust said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:44 pm

I know what the DL list is. I just don’t get how the Giants are supposed to automatically know if a player with soreness needs to go on the DL list.

    • unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:50 pm

Hard to say, but with Torres it looked bad when it happened. Losing 2 other guys after the fact didn’t help. You have to wonder when De Rosa goes on the DL.

  57. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:48 pm

    Thank you Jesus . . .

  58. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:49 pm

T-o-r-t-u-r-e. This one’s playing tighter than a terminal turd.

  59. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:55 pm

Man, these guys are good for the ulcer companies out there. . .

  60. unca chuck said, on April 13, 2011 at 9:56 pm

Should be bases loaded, no outs.

  61. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 10:05 pm

With his pair of singles and now the walk, Belt has upped his OBP to a not too shabby .341. Add his batting eye to his speed and i still like the notion which i bruited earlier but got shot down by those who know more about the game; that Brandon should be batting second. Sometimes intuition trumps accumulated wisdom.

  62. Del Mar Dennis said, on April 13, 2011 at 10:12 pm

  66. stixwiz said, on April 13, 2011 at 10:17 pm

LaBumbos must be feeling a lot like Bradley Manning right about now. Torture r U$. Something like the death of a thousand cuts. So near and yet so far. Even the brief lead. Then that bullpen capped by a reinvigorated Barbudo. Sweat, blood and tears for the Bums tonight ~courtesy of a courtesan known as the Iron Maiden.

  67. snarkk said, on April 13, 2011 at 10:18 pm

Wilson looks to be back. I likee the 1-2-3. They’ve righted the ship at 6-6, ready for the roadie, looking like maybe they’re getting some rhythm after all the pomp and circumstance is over. Panda not being an auto out anymore makes a huge difference to this squad. Gimmee 4 runs a game, I’ll take our chances…

  68. James said, on April 13, 2011 at 10:50 pm

Sanchez with 74 strikes out of 109 pitches. Only 16.2 innings, but if that trend continues, he will have raised his game a notch or two. The Dodgers were 7 for 16 on balls in play tonight, raising his BABIP to well over 400. That’s some shitty luck so far this season.
