A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Predicting How the Panda Will Do…..

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 14, 2011

I’d like to believe that he’s going to storm the batters box like a Dragon Warrior and abuse the baseballs thrown his way. I’m hoping so, anyway. I also believe that he’s feeling a mountain of pressure to perform. For a guy who normally  is bursting out of his cleats to swing at  pitches, I’m not sure that’s the right kind of pressure for him but it’s unavoidable. It’s not like he can just slide through the back door of this line up and quietly resume his season. ALL EYES are on him and the fact is, this offense needs him desperately. One good thing about his return is that it will likely give the team a huge emotional boost and maybe Huff, Ross, everyone else will use it to kick start their own game……..

The idea of Pablo catching is really more talk show fodder than a reality. Catching requires a different type of conditioning as well as a  much broader focus on the game and again, he doesn’t really need something else to focus on right now. If it meant we were going to be able to utilize another stud 3rd baseman then it might be something to consider, but Pablo’s replacement (if he went to catcher) would be Miggy and that’s an underwhelming option at best…….

Prediction: The Return of The Panda will have a positive impact on the LU but I don’t think he’s going to start off hot. Even so, lighting a match to this offense with his return will be just what we need and Pablo will get straight soon enough even if it takes him a week to 10 days to do so……….

Well, Nate sure raised his BA for a 4th AB in the game. Nice rip. Oh, wait. He was facing a new pitcher. . . . .

Andres sure wasn’t gonna let two go over his head. What a play.

I’m sorry but Kruip and Kiep are getting a little homo-erotic
Romo’s oiling it up in the bullpen?
Sandoval can strap it on? As a catcher?
And if Sandoval’s a catcher…why would he have to “strap it on”?
Sorry. just a little…Nathan Lane for me

    • snarkk said, on June 14, 2011 at 9:17 pm

Lane can definitely plug holes on defense, though…

    • TedSpe said, on June 14, 2011 at 9:23 pm

      True enough. A fine…catcher

    • TedSpe said, on June 14, 2011 at 9:24 pm

Bochy didn’t screw anything up. Good game, enjoy it.

    • snarkk said, on June 14, 2011 at 9:45 pm

He should have pulled Cain two batters before he was actually pulled. Cain had been hit hard the prior inning. I called it,; he was so into his usual 8th inning Romo/Lopez thing, he couldn’t pull the trigger early to get a RH ready, so he got burned. Hopefully, Wilson can close it out regardless of the screw up….

  16. snarkk said, on June 14, 2011 at 9:40 pm

I really hope the Giants pull it out. Because I’m bummed today already, I need some good news. Crystal Harris got cold feet and declined today to go through with her wedding to Hef this coming Saturday. Poor kid, I’m available to console you….

Strike 3 call a make up? Wow, the Giants sure keep your attention to the very end.. Looks like Panda might have given a bit of a jolt to the lineup.

I’m not going to explain the decison/result thing to Snarklet again. The best pen manager in baseball once again brought it home.

  25. snarkk said, on June 14, 2011 at 10:05 pm

Feels good to finally score some runs.
Maybe they can get a scoring streak started with this.

Okay gang, was that or was that not a wrencher in the 9th? Anybody figure out yet why i call our closer the Drama Queen? Sometimes i think he just does that to tease em. Other times i’m not too sure. Drama in the desert all right. Cain has lost plenty of games where the Giants scored maybe one run. This time he gets a bunch. Without that golden bullpen, though, the Snakes would have taken it.

This is one strange team. Over the past two-three years, their opponent would run out some rookie pitcher nobody had never seen before and he would throttle SF. Tonight, Arizona trots out their boy wonder, Collmenter, who had not previously given up so many as three runs in his brief ML career. So the Giants give him the early exit pass. Contributions pretty much all over the lineup. I like that. As predicted by several, Panda was not a huge producer tonight. But he did get the game off to a positive start by driving in that all important first run in the opening inning. Three straight singles by Torres, Burriss and Pablo set the tone for the game. Sandoval’s presence changes the feeling of the lineup first game running. Nice.

Lead back to 1.5 games and two in the all important loss column. I like our chances with Bumgarner and Vogelsong coming up next and next after. Good shot at taking the series in the Snakepit. Worst possible scenario after winning game one is to fall a half game behind by late Thursday. I expect better, though.

When they beat Dan Hudson earlier it was the first time he’d given up more than 3 since last July

Actually they score rather well on the road. After tonight they’re tied with AZ for 4th in the NL in runs scored on the road.

Too bad we have an inordinate amount of home games remaining.

      • twinfan1 said, on June 14, 2011 at 10:26 pm

Just passing along fact- make what you want of it. And the home/away now is no huge diff, Doomin’ Denny. Take your Ledger and go to bed.

Not exactly Matty’s finest showing, but he certainly deserves one of those after having nothing to show for way too many gems. And what a welcome sight seeing Pablo back in the lineup. That first-inning RBI seemed to jack up everyone’s game at the plate.

  31. TedSpe said, on June 14, 2011 at 10:19 pm

Well, gotta call it a night. Beautiful baseball game. I love games like this.

Sandoval’s first AB was huge. What predictions that he wouldn’t be a huge prodcer tonight? Anyway -he was great, with all the expection and antgst- that was one of the big RBIs of the year.Add the walk, the great defensive play- it was a terrific return..
