A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Taming the Dirrrrrty Snakes

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 4, 2011

Yesterday was a good example of why I’m not worried about the Snakes. When your big free agent pick up is Jason Marquis, you’ve got problems. Marquis sucks. He’s usually good against us and he sucks against everyone else. But yesterday we slapped his ass around. And Voggy showed once again why he’s the MVP of this team. Ha, kidding. No more MVP talk from me. But he’s been lights out at home and how critical will that be come playoff time?

Cabrera has been fine. Nice to see him hit something. Really, anything was going to be an upgrade over what we had. And, Cabrera does have the *experience thing* going for him. I never doubted his attitude on his teammates, he seems to be having a ball out there. Who wouldn’t after getting traded to the World Champs? It’s possible he’s going to ride that high all the way to and through the playoffs. It’s possible. I still don’t like the bad karma of picking up the arch nemesis of our World Series hero. But whatever, we have a title to defend, I’ll worry about that curse if it ever comes to pass. (Notice how I never use the word *jinx*????) 🙂

Remember, what just happened in the top of the 4th inning was NOT A*** S****’s fault. Nothing is ever his fault.

    • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:29 pm

No, it’s your scumbag MVP’s fault in the bottom of the inning .Four shots then Natalie drives one to deep short.

  6. Bozo said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:27 pm

    Nate, Nate Nate.

      Knit, gnat, not.

  7. James said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:29 pm

Is Worley the only Phillie to swing at a first pitch tonight?

  8. Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:32 pm

Sure, Huff gets a two-out-single with nobody on. That’s the equivalency of Nate Schierholtz weakly popping out to third to end the inning with two runners on.Oh, It just actually happened. I’m never one to say I told ya so…

    • zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:36 pm

Why are you trying to start something? If the game is boring you that much, then find something else to watch.

      • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:42 pm

That’s what he does. Like bringing up Alex Smith on this blog. Instigating POS…

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:04 pm

Listen you two. My comments aren’t meant to be “trying” or “instigating.” My comments are meant for one person, and one person only — MYSELF. No one is forcing you to read my posts. You’re more than welcomed to skip right by them. I’ll let you in on a little secret. I don’t post for other’s benefit. My comments are made to help assuage my own feelings. Posting on Flav’s blog and others has come highly recommended by my doctors.

So, in quick summary again. Fuck it. The Phillies are now kicking are asses.

      • zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:09 pm

BF is the owner of this blog and he can set the rules. Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought he asked you stop mentioning Alex Smith on this blog.

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:25 pm

A*** who? I’m NOT joking about that worthless POS. Do NOT mention his name. If you do, you will feel the same repercussions as everyone else. I will bombard you with stats bemoaning, lamenting with regrets (I’ve had a few, Frank) you could never fathom. But A***, he had a few. Get me a new quarterback!

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:48 pm

And just on cue, NO Whitey hits a single HR when we’re down by four.
      Timing is everything.

      • DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:52 pm

He had no choice, The bases were empty.

      • zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:53 pm

Or you could be happy that he hit the homerun. Your choice.

I used to like Kalas & Ashburn in the Philly booth. These guys suck.

    Shades of Wainwright 2006…

  14. zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:51 pm

I totally dig Beltran, but you just can’t take a called third strike in that situation.

    • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:54 pm

I seem to recall he has some experience with that.

  15. DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:57 pm

I don’t mean to be crude, but I’d sure like to bang a chick while she’s wearing one of those Panda hats.

  16. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 8:58 pm

See, now the hated get dissed for getting a hit. Two out rallies may be rare this year but they do happen,

  17. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:00 pm

Whitefuck never even made a decent tag effort.

    • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:01 pm

      You DIVE at him, fuckwad.

      • Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:08 pm

But that’s Vern and Vera’s baby boy. Oh shit. Now he just tried a half-ass backhand attempt that move both runners up —- and now both those runners have scored.

        GAME OVER

        insert quarter here

    • Bozo said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:06 pm

Agree totally, the Pimple was in slow motion.

  18. DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:02 pm

Beltran needs a day off here and there. Maybe against the recently deceased Pirates…

  19. zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:04 pm

When John Mayberry. Jr. was in Single A, he was part of the Rangers organization, so I got curious how he ended up with the Phillies. He seemed like a really good prospect in Single A. I just looked it up. For some reason, Texas traded him to the Phillies for a guy named Greg Golson, who’s now in the Yankee organization. Seems like an odd deal all the way around for Texas. Not that Texas lacks for offense, but still….

  20. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:05 pm

Not the best effort from Carlos. That’s the time to get your nose dirty.

  21. snarkk said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:06 pm

I like the guy, but wow. Agreed, El Presidente is turning into an embarrassment on D, let alone offense. Two bad plays with a runner approaching home. Plus the periodic passed balls, bad throws. He needs to be impeached…

  22. Ray Davies said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:13 pm

Ultimately, this one is on Sanchez. A scintillating, zitoesque 4 2/3, 7 hits, 5 runs. Just too big a hole for our girly offense to climb out of.

    • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:17 pm

So it’s never on Tim, Cain, or Madbum but’s on Sanchez? All of those guys have blown up and gone without run support. You’re FOS, Ray..

      • Ray Davies said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:22 pm

No YOU ARE FOS. You’re the one all over the starters this week for putting them in a hole early.

      • Ray Davies said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:26 pm

But tonight, since it’s your precious latin boy, you blame the offense. You love your double standards when it suits you.

      • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:29 pm

No, troll, the starters have been defended ALL YEAR due to no suppport. Only “Head Case” doesn’t get that defense. Fuck off.

      • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:33 pm

And I didn’t blame the offense, shithead- I blamed you for a being a hypocritical asshole

      • DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:38 pm

The KInks were overshadowed in the British invasion by the Beatles & Stones. Much like Marichal was by Koufax and Gibson.

  23. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:13 pm

Best play by Whitey all year..

  24. Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:14 pm

Eli Whiteside is a goddamn piece of shit. There is NO Whitey denying that fact.

Hey!?!?! I like this fighting shit. Hit somebody! And for the love of Christ, plunk Cody Ross for flipping his bat vs the Horse. He needs to be reprimanded.

  25. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:18 pm

What a fucking punk Utley is…
You just have to hope the Phils don’t go for head shots.

  26. zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:19 pm

Whitey looked pretty hyper, bouncing on his feet like that. He was revved up for it.

  27. snarkk said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:20 pm

Well, we lost the game, but did we win the brawl?…

  28. wilcojoe said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:20 pm

Well that was kind of cool.

  29. wilcojoe said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:21 pm

I hope they throw at Utley on his next AB.

  30. DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:22 pm

Victorino’s a big pussy. Took 2 steps to the mound, then stopped when Eli got in his way and RR ready to confront him. Then he makes a big show of trying to get away from the ump once it’s safe.

  31. wilcojoe said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:23 pm

Eli’s bouncing may go down as the highlight of his career.

    • DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:27 pm

      Ali Whiteside?

  32. snarkk said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:26 pm

    It’s official.
Giants v. Dodgers is a snoozefest.
Giants v. Phills is the real rivalry…

    • zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:29 pm

That’s the truth. Rivalries are really built out of playoff rivalry.

  33. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:34 pm

    “Latin boy?”

    • DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:42 pm

I was a big fan of Jerry Latin.

  34. zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:34 pm

The Phillies got Hunter Pence without even having to give up Mayberry. What kind of deal was that for Houston?

  35. Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:36 pm

Jesus H. Christ. That ball was hit with bad intentions. The fucking Phillies are making an emphatic statement. And they’re kickin’ our ass for good measure. We play the national 1:00 FOX game tomorrow. Put your boxing gloves on…

  36. zumie said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:39 pm

I’m going to be at the game tomorrow. The Cainer usually pitches well against the Phillies.

  37. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:41 pm

It’s up to Cain and Lincecum to restore order, a split will be fine.

  38. snarkk said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:43 pm

Note to Chuck. Harbaugh should “look at the (brawl) film”.
Eli tackles better than Clements ever did and maybe now Rogers.
    Whitey’s not a catcher, he’s a DB!…

  39. DJLoo said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:45 pm

Eli sure had an eventful night. I wonder if anything happened to him in the shower.

  40. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 9:47 pm

It was a classic wrestler’s move. Classy, too. Coulda put Polanco down with a hard right. See Rudy Tomjanovich..

  41. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 10:00 pm

Mota was pretty cool… Pitched inside just enough to annoy them…

  42. twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 10:02 pm

Dennny, too blitzed for even a mini-Non-Save spiel?

    • Del Mar Dennis said, on August 5, 2011 at 10:21 pm

No. I am not blitzed. Thanks for asking, however. And that’s the end of that.

    • twinfan1 said, on August 5, 2011 at 10:35 pm

Well, good. I’m proud of you. Store burn down?

  43. snarkk said, on August 5, 2011 at 10:13 pm

Rocks pitcher Nicasio took a line drive off the right side of his head tonite. A la Joe Martinez. Not good, but he was conscious when they carted him off on a stretcher. I still don’t understand why that does not happen more often, but good that it doesn’t. Bummer of a night all around. Adios all…

  44. UsedtobebigSarge said, on August 5, 2011 at 10:42 pm

Dammit after 8-2 I turned the TV off in disgust and missed the fight. I hope Victorino catches one with his ribs. Or his nose. He’s all they talk about in Hawaii. I hated that when I lived there, didn’t matter if he had an 0 fer, they still featured him on the news every night.

  45. Kevin said, on August 5, 2011 at 10:46 pm

Well, I keep sleeping through these great moments.
I am sure if I was awake and watching the Gs would have won.

  47. Del Mar Dennis said, on August 6, 2011 at 6:10 am

Shit. They have Pablo on tape throwing a left-handed punch on a defenseless Philly.
There goes our best hitter for a few games…

    Villalona might’ve come in handy…

    • willieD said, on August 6, 2011 at 7:33 am

      rather have pascual perez.

  49. willieD said, on August 6, 2011 at 7:31 am

Polanco is the dickwad here tho, and needs to be sent to the ground again if anyone. Btw whitey (best move behind the plate all year) and the ump I don’t think vic was going anywhere, til polanco charges in and whitey takes him down. Kermit Washington indeed. No way that little chump takes on whitey who still had the gear on.
Manuel is enough of an old school/old fart to know that having your backup 8th place hitting catcher swing away 3-0, and letting rollins steal first pitch with an 8-2 lead is rubbing it in and against baseball codes. And that one of his players was going to take one sooner or later.
Felt bad for Ramirez, who just couldn’t get a ball btw the dirt and above the knees. Even some of the pitches Phils took were breaking balls over the heart of the plate and up. But he did the right thing when needed.
