A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Belt Blasts Off! (thanks to Big Flavor)

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 13, 2012

Sorry it took me so long to get around to sending Belt some of my special mojo. Last night’s call conjured up my *A’s 6 Giants 0* prediction from 2008……

Hopefully that bomb is enough to bump him into 3rd place in the all star voting. Hit 2 or 3 of those bad boys and he’ll relegate Votto to the bench. 🙂

Since I’m hot right now, I’ll say Cain pitches a no hitter tonight. Why not?

Today is post 768 for those of you keeping score at home.

Ok, gotta bounce………

One of Flav’s predictions that didn’t come true so far
Brother said this series wouldn’t be a cake walk.
Sorta right. Hasn’t reached cake status yet. Sort of ding-dong

The “Horse” is dealing…11K’s in 6 perfect innings..Cain or Strasburg get my nod for A/S starter.

  12. Alleykat said, on June 13, 2012 at 9:30 pm

Cain is reaching back for alittle extra gas right now.Guy is such a “STUD”, He is sniffing the finish line.

  13. TedSpe said, on June 13, 2012 at 9:31 pm

And once again, an annoying TedSpe movie reference:
I’m not going to curse Cain’s game so allow me to just say—I’m pretty sure the Giants will win tonight.

Tonight is June 13th. The birthday of Basil Rathbone.
So when I say I think the Giants will probably win tonight’s game
It would be more than appropriate to say:
    “No shit, Sherlock”

  14. twinfan1 said, on June 13, 2012 at 9:32 pm

  37. gianthead said, on June 13, 2012 at 9:57 pm

Like the night Sanchez threw the no-hitter…I was not going to jinx it and comment on the Flap…was that really the first perfect game in Giants history….NY and SF??? Awesome, awesome!

And if you check my pre-season predictions, I said Cain or Bum would throw a no-hitter this year…but a perfect game…oh my….

  38. unca_chuck said, on June 13, 2012 at 9:57 pm

Unfuckingbelievable! Matt was completely on. 120 pitches?

  39. Del Mar Dennis said, on June 13, 2012 at 9:59 pm

  42. TedSpe said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:02 pm

I CANNOTT FUCKING BELIEVE THIS!!!! OF ALL PEOPLE IT SHOULD BE MATT CAIN!!!!!

  43. Alleykat said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:02 pm

If any Giant pitcher was more deserving of a “Perfect Game” it’sMatt Cain. The first ever perfect game in the history of the Giants by the most inspiring leader by example!!!

  44. eddacker said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Posey, who hates crowds and celebrations, was first to Matt

    • TedSpe said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:04 pm

Obviously you’ve never seen Posey at the Crazy Horse

  45. Bozo said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:04 pm

I’m stunned. That was one hell of a performance.

  46. Chico said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:05 pm

  47. mrmrbill said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:05 pm

  48. Macdog said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:06 pm

I cannot think of a more deserving player to throw a perfect game than Matt Cain. If we didn’t know how speical this guy is after the World Series, we sure do now. What a great Giant!

  49. Chipower said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:07 pm

Flappers! Wow! Perfection!! It is great to be a San Francisco Giant fan! Orange and Black Forever!

  50. SanDawg said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:07 pm

i also didn’t want to post either for fear of jinxing. Amazing! unbelievable back to back calls by Flav! What was a longer shot to happen….Belt homering or Cain throwing a no-no?

  51. eddacker said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:07 pm

And some of you think my late night game watching is odd.

A good night for a lot of my favorites- Matt, Vungo, Blanco, Dirty, (sort of cool he returned on this night), Belt.. and yes, Ted-of course I was being silly with “POTG nominees?” My goodness, you know silly.

AND CAIN HAS A PERFECT GAME!!

    • twinfan1 said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Well, I’m sure a lot of other people have said that too. A great strike zone doesn’t hurt either. If you recall, Dirty had a pitcher’s SZ, too. A fantastic performance by Matt and as good a catch as we’ll see, from Gregor…

      • twinfan1 said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:17 pm

That was to Edd’s post on defense.

  56. Wilcojoe said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:15 pm

  57. mrmrbill said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:16 pm

Zito comes up with something amazing tomorrow to follow up Bum and Cain the past two nights.

    • mrmrbill said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:17 pm

an unassisted 1-1-1 triple play! that’s my call..

      • eddacker said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:19 pm

bases loaded, sharp hit ball to the pitcher moving left; tags first and throws home to nail the sliding runner from third.

when magic happens it really happens

  58. eddacker said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:17 pm

  64. Alleykat said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:22 pm

That new 5 yr deal for Cain looks like chump change after tonight!!! Time to stick it to Sabes again Matty!!

    • twinfan1 said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:33 pm

Sabes is the dude who gave him the money- how is it you see that Matt is “sticking it” to him? Sbean is fucking ecstatic.

  65. Irish Kevin said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:24 pm

They are now talking about the hit that went over 3rd base in the 4th, that was called foul!! Why do they bring up the shit

  66. Macdog said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:24 pm

On a semi-related note, the Mets are appealing the lone Rays hit, claiming it should’ve been an error on Wright that would give R.A. Dickey a no-hitter.

  67. twinfan1 said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:28 pm

5 times he’s a taken a no-no into the 7th- 7 2/3 was as far as he got. After Blanco’s catch, it seemed fated. Let’s just hope a BFD isn’t made of the foul call on Schafer’s ball. I haven’t looked at it again- was it fair?

  68. TedSpe said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:29 pm

I’m on the verge of tears. I really am.
    Thank God for Blanco.
Flav, you’re on a roll. Please grant my earlier wish.
No–seriously–Please grant my earlier wish. Thanks.
Fuck. It doesn’t get better than this. I luv the Giants. And I luv all youse guys.
    Goodnight, gentlemen (question mark)

    • Bozo said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:38 pm

Ted – I started tearing up like it was the WS again. A couple of shots of tequila helped me.

  69. wswin said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:31 pm

Just got home, checked in on them and absolutely incredible. And Flav, two predictions like Belt and Cain two days in a row just kinda blows the mind….

  70. Wilcojoe said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:32 pm

So Cain ties Koufax with the most strikeouts in a perfect game…WAs this the most perfect of perfect games?

  71. Bozo said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:42 pm

As you guys know it’s late here. In the top of the 7th my wife got up to see if I just passed out on the couch. Like Dirty’s no-no, I just looked at her and said “My pitcher is pitching a pretty good game here”. She just nodded and went back to bed, damn I love that lady.

    • TedSpe said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:52 pm

    Perfect Game

    June 13th
    Basil Rathbone’s Birthday…

    There yya go

  74. twinfan1 said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:57 pm

Just looked at the Tampa hit- should have been an error, no question- but it was in first inning- absolutely no way to know that Dickey would have still pitched no hit ball after that- it’s completely different after it was ruled a hit.

  75. stixwiz said, on June 13, 2012 at 10:57 pm

    Helluva call, Flav!!!

Giants been coming into tune in June. With Matt the Horse as Conductor the sweet music will keep on keeping on right through October. This team has got it. Way things look right now SF could have both the batting champ and the Cy Young winner. Halloween Machine never looked better.
