A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Giants Ready to Sweep?

Posted in Uncategorized by dirtnrocksnomo on August 22, 2012

I haven’t been able to watch many games lately but last night was a good one to make time for.  Staked to an early lead Lincecum cruised along until his sweat allergy got the best of him but he pushed through and put the club in the position to win the game and now the series.  Having waited all season for a moment to point to that brought the club together I really didn’t expect Cabrera’s suspension to be what did it. I read somewhere that Bochy had the team at his house for BBQ recently and I would rather believe that was what it was. Whatever it was remains to be seen but the Giants are playing well and they can keep rolling with a sweep today.

Go Giants!

bring in the backup squad. Cain gets one more inning and the bull pen gets the last two innings spread around. Let everyone get some rest. Tell Murph to pack the bus and bring this mojo in the front seat.

Well, Mr Mojo Risin’ from LA, so maybe he’ll hitch a ride up north.

    Holy shit! 5 ribbies?

“Joaquin, we need you to pee into this cup . . .”

Oh hell yes!! Arias having a career night,5RBI’s every swing “Smoked”Shots!

  4. blade3colorado said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:20 pm

I said Arias was “red hot.” Wrong. No idea how to describe how hot he is? Maybe a Super Giant Sun. Ha.

    • Alleykat said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:34 pm

Let us all pray they don’t drug test Arias after this game.

        (grin)

Arias es El Fuego tonight. He has more homers than Pence does as a Giant. Speaking of Pence, outside of two games that he won for us, he looks overmatched at the plate, and WTF was that pirouette out in RF? Was he doing his best Aubrey Huff impersonation? Pull your head out of your ass Hunter and start hitting.
Can’t for the life of me remember the last time the Giants swept the Bums at home and on the road in the same season. And what a fucking great play by Christian. Fuck Yeah!!!!!

  6. zumiee said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:28 pm

Wow! The D has been Dynamite for quite a while, after the rough start earlier in the season.

  7. Nipper said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:29 pm

A sweep over the Dodgers looks like a certainty in their park. Great feeling. Catch the fever!

  8. unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:30 pm

Speaking of ‘Born in the USA’ I’ve never been a Springsteen fan (although I hear his shows are great), but the song is about a guy who is disaffected by his country after returning from Vietnam, and the toll the war took on Americans. It’s really a bity of an indictment of the war, and the US government.

I thought it was highly retarded that it was used the way it was by the right. Or at least they wanted to use it.

    • unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:32 pm

      Hey, I’m just catching up . . .

      Jesus Christian! Unreal catch.

(please do not misinterpret this post as anything more than admiration)

    • zumiee said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:41 pm

Yeah, the Springsteen shows are great. I’ve been to a couple of them. My favorite album of his, though, is the quiet acoustic album “The Ghost Of Tom Joad.”

Sportscenter Highlight reel ketch by Christian!Wow that was a freakin amazing catch.Hope he’gonna be ok,looked like he jammed the wrist hard.

Has there been any word on Pablo’s condition?

    • Alleykat said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Yeah the medical staff have all occurred and say Pablo needs Lap Band Surgery.

  11. eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:41 pm

I wonder how many of those Hollywood types are still at the game?

an APWAS for the horse, the defence, the on field manager and Orange and Black fans everywhere.

  12. Salty said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:53 pm

Pour me a single malt, Edd.

  13. eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:54 pm

Hanley since coming to the dogers:

    33/107
    Runs-17
    Bombs-5
    RBIs-29
    SBs-2
    .308/.368/.544

he is .174 with a 3-2 count. hehe

  14. zumiee said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:54 pm

The bullpen is in danger of coughing up a hairball.

  15. Salty said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:55 pm

Thought the Dodgers were going to go quietly.

  16. unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:55 pm

    Crinimy, this got ugly fast….

  17. unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:57 pm

Fucking cheapie. Who wqas talking about comebacks the other day?

  18. Macdog said, on August 22, 2012 at 9:59 pm

That oughta send most of ’em home.

  19. zumiee said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:00 pm

Am I the only that gets nervous when a Giants pitcher has to make that throw to second on that kind of play? Great DP!

    • unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Nope. They’ve butchered more than their share of comebackers. Although the D has been spot=on lately.

  20. eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:01 pm

If no bat abreakin’ and that was a fly out no runs scored.
and if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle.
8-4 in the 9th, freaking giants.
No, edd, that is not torture time, yet.

  21. twinfan1 said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:05 pm

I want to thank Joaquin- I made him my “under the radar” MVP the other night. Usually a guy makes 3 errors when I do that.

    • eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:09 pm

he was so purposeful throwing to second, I thought no way DP. but I forgot how well our D is playing these days.

      😆

      • unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:15 pm

It WAS the calorically challenged catcher running to 1st . . .

  22. eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:07 pm

A pinch hitter(?) and the top of the order up next for the dodgers.

  23. paulinasia said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:16 pm

Someone here posted recently the relievers who should enter a game only when trailing (significantly so). I think Kontos was on that list, but I think he’s done ok. Hensley, however, would be at the top of my list. He started that damned fire; took a little while for the others to put it out, but there is no excuse for a reliever to come into the 8th inning of a game comfortably in control and give up 2 doubles… no excuse except that he sucks. Hope to not see him pitch much the rest of the way.

  24. unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:16 pm

Ted, do you feel another DP?

  25. unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:18 pm

    SweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeP!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Bozo said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:19 pm

    2 and a half.

    • zumiee said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:25 pm

And it’s the real good 2 1/2, the one with a lead of 3 in the loss column.

  27. blade3colorado said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:19 pm

    Sweep!

    • blade3colorado said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:21 pm

Or, more appropriate, “How sweep it is!”

  28. willedav said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:20 pm

for a guy that throws that hard, casilla breaking ball is killer. Twice it’s Ethier, tonite it’s Kemp that goes down for the last out. In the words of art blakey, “As the message is being delivered.”

  29. TedSpe said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:21 pm

    SWEEP!!!!!!!!

  30. Macdog said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:21 pm

To answer dirt’s question: HELL YEAH!

  31. eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:24 pm

A brief interlude of joy and then, there will be no Tomahawk Chop in SF.

  32. paulinasia said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:24 pm

It seems Casilla doesn’t get a save, but he did “save” it, getting the DP in the 8th and a relatively quiet 9th… Hope he’s the closer from here out.

    • eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:27 pm

you are correct, sir. And what a pleasure to see Arias stepping up, the defence making plays and Bochy smiling.

Go NL West leading San Francisco Giants.

  33. eddacker said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:25 pm

three games derivative of a high calibre team.

that is to say: Woo Hoo!!

  34. willedav said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:27 pm

hit the library as the game was first on and picked up the Goodwin book zum mentioned along with one called “Driving Mr. Yogi” that I started and is great. Also found the new one by Alan Furst, historical novelist of WWII resistance movements throughout Europe.
reading stuff like this to relax is perfect complement to the high of last few nights of baseball.
Wisc started this month off post on predictions on their record, which has to be pretty good…..

  35. Alleykat said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:27 pm

Well Hell….We got the “SWEEP” so anyone who didnt believe that couldnt happen, fuck em.3 out of 3 is a hell of alot sweeter then 2 out of 3, +the 2 game swing in the standings is what really makes it big.

    • twinfan1 said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:30 pm

I never said or thought or inferred that that they couldn’t do that-so fine, fuck anybody who thought they couldn’t.

  36. twinfan1 said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:27 pm

I like Kontos, Paul. Buit he needs another pitch to become a 7th, 8th inning guy, IMO. And being the best guy to keep things in check for a couple innings is still an important job.

    • paulinasia said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:31 pm

Yes it is, and I agree about Kontos. Just don’t want to see Hensley out there anymore because a) it might mean the team is way behind (the only time he should be used), and b) he sucks….. 🙂

      • twinfan1 said, on August 22, 2012 at 10:41 pm

Well, the thing is- even Hensley has been pretty good for being the 5th or 6th guy in the pen, Paul. The guy had stranded 23 of 28 baserunners. That’s a good number. For a startler- in the year before we picked him up, Casilla had allowed 15 of 19 to score . Goodnight, Paul.

We love you too, Bozo, it is the best we could do.
      we need a 14 way dial-a-shot

BTW the blog is getting twice our normal amount of visitors, in case anyone doubted The Rivalry.
