A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One Game

Posted in Uncategorized by ewisco on October 25, 2012

and a nice one but just one game. I gave it a fist pump and a quiet YES and got ready to move on. I’m keeping my head down and my ammo dry. taking it one game at a time. i’m going to play within myself today, when i’m not outright playing with myself. Barry Zito, Game one winner. Maybe the Mayans have it right. Win or lose, a resurgent Undertaker would be really good news. Otherwise game 6 becomes a black hole. So, a tip of the cap to the Panda and back to work.

On the Giants’ luck and “breaks” — the HR by Peralta last night was probably aided by Pagan, and produced as unlikely an outcome as the ball that hit the bag. The fact the score was 8-1 at the time is circumstantial.

McCarver is hilarious. “A lot of people think control is throwing strikes”. It’s like he’s talking to an audience who has either never watched a game or kids under the age 10

    • eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:45 pm

I chose “to an audience who has never watched a game”

  3. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:26 pm

Bum has been nails . . . I guess the bullpen sessions and resultant modifications by Righetti and Bochy worked.

  4. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:30 pm

though we aren’t winning, the balls seem to be bouncing our way. I know it sounds crazy, but if you pay attention to the details of the game you can see who is fighting uphill or rolling downhill. I think we are good this game…….

  5. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:33 pm

Did i miss that?Did.any other.Flapper ketch that latest blunder by McCarver.Didnt he say Garcia was 25 yrs old,and the Tigers signed him 5 years ago when he was 16 in the Domincan Republic????

  6. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:35 pm

Bryan Stow is at this game. Good deal.

  7. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:40 pm

Fister is not showing any effects of getting hit in the head….Can’t say the same about Buck&McCarver however, what’s their excuse??

  8. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Zito quickly acting to support a possible fall by Kimmel was outstanding. I don’t know much about his *K’s for troops* or whatever his charity is called, but I want to know more. To me, it’s another reason to love Zito. He’s 100% legit……..

  9. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:47 pm

Nice SO, after a couple of hard hit balls.

  12. eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 6:57 pm

tonight was “Welcome Back Veterans” pre-game and when Lasorda went out the fans booed him??

  13. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:00 pm

I hope Buck or McCarver talk about Detroit’s piggies (Cabrera, Fielder, and Young) too.

  14. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Tell’s you how dumb the Mariners are trading Fister, this kid has impressive stuff. He Reminds of a taller combo of JimLonborg and Jim Palmer. He is gonna be an All-Star someday,Book It!

  15. unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:06 pm

Of course Lasorsa gets booed. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

  16. unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:07 pm

    Wow. Ahoulda been strike 3

  17. unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:08 pm

    Bummie!!!! Just get ONE!

  18. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:09 pm

Bum has that “Andy Pettitte” look going— glove covering eyes, shadow, darkening of the eyes. He’s a stone cold assassin tonight.

  19. unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:09 pm

He needs to get the ball down though

  20. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:10 pm

Easy double play because two fat fucks* were involved. 🙂

    • unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Yeah, I really liked how Bummie took his time to make the throw. Aftyer seeing the Cards botch that shit, yand us a whole bunch earlier in the year, ou can never be too careful.

      • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:14 pm

Of course, McCarver didn’t mention that fact, nor the need for them to go on diets. Ha.

      • Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:19 pm

Should have taken his time Chuck,he had Fatso Fielder running,so that’s an automatic DP!

  21. unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:10 pm

    Are they pulling Fister? (snicker)

  22. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:11 pm

Wow, very weird, I was in the 129th Rescue Wing. Of course, that was many years ago.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:14 pm

Thanks foir your service. They showed the rtriple amputee soldie throw out the 1st picth. Chills.

      • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:15 pm

I know. I count my blessings all the time.

      • eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:25 pm

        I am really confused, unca
U say all that and yet it was OK for the fans to boo a veteran?
Who was there for nothing connected to baseball, his service to the armed forces is longer than his BB career
        I say fuck those idiots

  23. eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:15 pm

this one could turn out to be
    Bochy for the win

  24. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:17 pm

    Finally, a lead off single.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:18 pm

More important, Fister is gone. Now, we can light up their bullpen. We score, we win.

  25. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:21 pm

into their bp, this will be a welcome change from that Cardinal Hell Bullpen

  29. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:27 pm

disappointed they were still bunting 2-0 there

  30. Macdog said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:28 pm

What did Flav say about the balls bouncing (rolling) our way?

  31. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:28 pm

Giants living right with that bunt!

  32. eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:28 pm

the bunting is huge these days.

  36. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:29 pm

I’ll take a successful bunt every day and twice on Sunday. 🙂

  37. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:32 pm

Yeah, I wonder what bullshit the media will write tomorrow to explain Bumgarner? Or, if we win? Something to do with voodoo and cutting off chicken heads no doubt.

    • eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:38 pm

      You did that too?

      🙂

    those are Fox shows?

  41. WilcoJoe said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:38 pm

I am considering using miles to fly out there for Games 6 and or 7 (though who knows the way things are going, we may clinch in Motown)….Flav, did you notice any scalpers out there yesterday? If so, how much were they asking at game time? Any idea what Pawlie paid? I paid $300 for an Upper Deck behind home plate seat for Game 5 in Arlington the day of, but I would have to guess market value will be ridiculous if the Giants are trying to clinch at home.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:43 pm

When I talked to him on the phone, he said he paid $200. Flights are easy Joe insofar as miles, albeit, they want more when it is short notice. Southwest wanted approx. 27000 miles . . . I had over 100,000 miles, as well as the same amount on United, but I was just out there and my adrenalin was at an all time low to fly out there for a few days. I have no idea how Pawlie did it. Plus, he flew out from the East coast. Mind boggling.

      • WilcoJoe said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:54 pm

$200? Nice…I would have to imagine that number will double if not triple if they are on the verge of clinching.

      • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:56 pm

Flav was right there and helped in the negotiations with the scalper. I think Pawlie said the relatively cheap price was due to a single ticket being sold.

      • PawlieKokonuts said, on October 25, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Magnus’s 6’6″ helps w/ any negotiations; yeah it was $200 maybe coulda been less, but I was scared it was fake — and SHOCKED based on what prices were being mentioned

    • Flavor said, on October 26, 2012 at 6:26 am

I think Pawlie got a ticket in CF for $200 right as game time was approaching. There were a lot of scalpers, yes

  42. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:39 pm

Hahaha . . . Grab some pine meat. Scutaro is “Hoover.”

    • eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:42 pm

I am really liking the way Marco and Belt play together. They are like dance partners out there.
      sweet

    Casilla game on!

  44. twinfan1 said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:43 pm

Extemely bizarre decision to play the infield back. This ain’t the 3rd inning.

  45. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:43 pm

Casilla was filthy that inning. I let him go in the 9th on whoever the PH is and then just go from there….

  46. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:45 pm

Interesting decision to pitch Smyly in relief . . . He was lights out earlier this season as a STARTER, but then fell apart after going once around the league. No idea how he has done recently in a relief role.

  47. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:46 pm

fuck scoots bunting, if he gets ahead in the count, let him hit

  48. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:47 pm

So in the Castro..Do gays order a Smyly Fister drink?

  49. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:47 pm

Scoots was thinking hit with that bunt. Dumb. If you’re gonna bunt just bunt

  50. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:48 pm

That would have been the insurance policy for tonight’s win. Pffffft.

  51. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:50 pm

Scutaro is fucking falling apart at the seams – one strikeout in about 400 at bats, and he’s now hitting .800.

    🙂

    • eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:51 pm

      bench him
and Panda, too, not one HR tonight

  52. Flavor said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:51 pm

I switch hit starting freshman year in HS. I’m naturally LF but I felt better swinging RH. More power LF, though. Bummed we don’t get to see the Panda bat here.

  53. WilcoJoe said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:51 pm

Whose the Jack Nicholson lookalike behind the Tigers bullpen? Actually looks more like Frank Caliendo doing Jack.

  54. eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:53 pm

I am going to have a coffee and brandy while they change relievers
if we win I will have another
if we lose I will have another

  55. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:54 pm

I’m not absolutely certain, but hasn’t Dotel played for 30 of the 32 MLB teams?

  56. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 7:56 pm

Nice reaction by Laird on his throw to 2nd on the steal,, Clearly mouthing “Oh Fuck ” Right call though, these umps are fantastic tonight, nailing every close play correct.

    • eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:00 pm

      agreed

    Way to go Under Pants!

  61. James said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:01 pm

Time for McCarver to talk about the meaning of control again. It is absurd that Pence got those last 2 pitches.

  62. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:02 pm

Big RBI AB for Pence…Lucky Dotel couldnt hit the outside corners, cause Pence would never reach them,he freakin chokes up to much and can’t cover the outside. He needs to get closer to the plate.

  63. eddacker said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:03 pm

so it will be the right fielder and then the top of the order up in the 9th
    and it looks like Romo
    Go Gigantes!

  64. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:05 pm

Damn, lucky the Tigers have Avila in reserve. Ball didn’t even hit Laird’s mitt.

  65. Alleykat said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:09 pm

Time for Romo and his walk up music “El Mechon” and then some Tony Bennett for the drive home..

  66. WilcoJoe said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:09 pm

Did I hear correctly that Steve Perry peformed “Lights” during last nights game? THAT would have been worth $200 bucks alone.

    • PawlieKokonuts said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:52 pm

i thought it was a recording but he was shown on the scoreboard

  67. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2012 at 8:11 pm

Shit, the Giants might sweep these stiffs. SERIOUSLY.

I’m definitely not impressed with anything I have seen from the Tigers. If this is their “A” game, then they are in trouble.
