A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Game Time!!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 26, 2013

Well, in a bit. It’s a Game Time Thread though and that’s just straight $

Here’s the LU:

Pagan CF
Scutaro 2B
Sandoval 3B
Posey C
Pence RF
Belt 1B
Crawford SS
Blanco LF
Lincecum RHP

Nothing much to noodle on here. Off the top of my head, I’m predicting Blanco strikes out twice, walks once, steals a bag and he might throw a triple in there, too. That’s a lot going on from the 8-hole but god dammit, it all just sorta rushed over me, as if delivered from a dream….. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Well, Bochy has a base stealer in the 8 so he’s already taken the 2 out steal away from him and the 2 out steal is a huge part of the value of the base stealer.

    • Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:05 pm

Really? Thanks, I’d never heard of that before. I’m still saying that somehow, despite this brand new knowledge, The Great White Shark somehow manages to steal a bag!

      • chipower9 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:09 pm

I agree…I think Tiburones Blanco steals a bag tonight.

      • Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:19 pm

Sweet. Then it appears we’re both on to it! Foretelling shit is a gift, Chi. Use your powers wisely. 🙂

    • twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:10 pm

Well, gosh durn you may be right. Probably with none or one out.
But bottom line, no matter what Blanco does tonight, he and Torres should hit 6th.

      • chipower9 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:13 pm

I would not argue at all on having Blanco/Torres in the 6.

      • Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:14 pm

Line up complaints are supposed to be left in Bochy’s inbox. 🙂

      • twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:22 pm

Sorry, I’m just late to LU bashing. You guys showed how much fun it is. Here’s how the lineup spots rank in the importance of avoiding outs:

        #1, #4, #2, #5, #3, #6, #7, #8, #9

  2. Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:12 pm

I used to be a big Cashner fan because of his heater and K-rate. But shit, if he can’t crack the Pad’s starting LU unless someone is injured, maybe he’s not what I thought he was

  3. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:16 pm

    We score, we win…

  4. Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:17 pm

And now we are seeing glimpses of why the k-rate and high heat might not be enough for Young Cashner!

  5. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:23 pm

    Crawford is so damned smooth…

  6. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:25 pm

    Nice pitch!

  7. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:33 pm

Damn…nice play by the fricking Friars…

    The Sad Hungarian.

  9. James said, on April 26, 2013 at 7:51 pm

That film of the 71 division winning game is about a zillion times more interesting to me than Russ Hodges’ call.

  10. Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:05 pm

Haha, Cashner is so fucking gassed at 3rd right now. He’s done…

  11. James said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:06 pm

A stunning display of third base coach prowess.

  12. James said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:12 pm

I really wish Timmy still had Cashner’s blazing fastball. No way Quentin gets around on that up and in pitch.

    • Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:17 pm

All of those hit balls were up and totally and completely hittable

      • James said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:23 pm

Not at 95 when you have to look for the splitter.

      • Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:32 pm

I misread your post. Yes, it’s too bad his best FB is gone. But he’s still throwing 92 right now, he’s found his best FB (for the year). He just can’t locate it

  13. xoot said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:21 pm

If Cashner pitched every Giant as well as he pitches Pablo, mixing speeds especially on the corner, things would look a lot worse right now. Maybe he’ll continue to wp everyone else. Meanwhile, Lincecum looks great for a while and then loses command completely for a while. Pablo’s D helps a bit.

  14. James said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:22 pm

    The even Sadder Hungarian.

  15. PawlieKokonuts said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:31 pm

Was just watching the highlights on the MLB channel, ch. 100 here. What a sad mess the performance by Dirty was. All the pitches were low, if off the plate, then plunk, in the head, or near it. What a disaster. As Leonard Cohen sang, “And wasn’t it a long way down, wasn’t it a long way down.”

  16. PawlieKokonuts said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:34 pm

Annabelle [I know, i know] Sanchez strikes out 17 for my fantasy league team and I’m still in 8th.

  17. PawlieKokonuts said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:44 pm

    G’night, girls. Just plain tired.

    • TedSpe said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:49 pm

I find when you rotate your tires you can avoid that

  18. James said, on April 26, 2013 at 8:56 pm

It may be time to start my George Jones tribute.

    • tedspe said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:04 pm

You’re not gonna sing are ya?

      • James said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:06 pm

I never dared to emulate George, but my kids know much of Buck Owens’ catalog, much to their chagrin.

      • tedspe said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:08 pm

Hell, we all emulate Buck Owens. Anyone who’s anyone can do The Buck. God Blessya

  19. tedspe said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:04 pm

I’m sorry but Lincecum has looked pretty damn good today

    • snarkk said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:32 pm

No need to be sorry. He did his job…

  20. tedspe said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:15 pm

Going back and forth with the Giants and Warriors.
    Going nuts

Fuck. Let’s do it, gentlemen (?)

  23. tedspe said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:33 pm

    Well–what can I say–except–fuck
    Goodnight, gentlemen (question mark)
    Back to the Warriors

  24. snarkk said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:33 pm

Well, ya gotta score more than one, usually, to win a game.
Timmeh gave ’em a shot, it was fairly ugly at times for him, but giving up just 2 and battling all the way still is better than a decent start…

    • twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:47 pm

He was dominant over the last 4..

      • snarkk said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:49 pm

Tim seems to have done better lately with Buster behind the dish…

      • twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 10:36 pm

He can throw that split without the worry. I showed the amazing pitch chart with Hector before- Tim had no lower half of the strike zone due to strikes that Hector turned into balls. Here’s the chart again, the circled pitches were called balls.

Some of it might be on Dreckman, the home plate ump, if you can view it, here’s the article with video.

All this proves is how hard it is to do what Barry the Zen Christian did.

  26. twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:46 pm

When Green is hitting a three, maybe the W’s are fated to win..

    Weegee? Dodgers vs. Giants http://69.195.124.76/~artistsw/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/ace-in-the-hole-15.jpg

  28. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2013 at 9:54 pm

Damn…Dubs have a barn-burner going on! Let’s close it out Warriors!

I think it may be time to consider moving Scoots outta the two hole…move Crawford there.

    • twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 10:17 pm

Agree on Scooter, disagree with Crawford. The 7 is fine. Scooter to the 8. IMO

  29. twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 10:26 pm

    We out dumbed ’em.!!!!

  30. Flavor said, on April 26, 2013 at 10:30 pm

I never say this, but we didn’t deserve to win that game based on how we played the last 20 seconds.
But fuck yeah, I’ll take it!!!!!

  31. twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 10:42 pm

    Barnes has been so huge.

  32. twinfan1 said, on April 26, 2013 at 10:43 pm

      Left you a note…

      • blade3colorado said, on April 26, 2013 at 11:27 pm

Ahh. I just finished my exercises and breakfast. I’ll take a look.

  35. Ryan said, on April 26, 2013 at 11:19 pm

So how did Cashner look? Was he pretty much mowing down the Giants with gas ? Does Scutaro look like a wealthy 37 year old playing MLB 2nd base?

  36. eddacker said, on April 27, 2013 at 1:03 am

I am in a blue funk – as in I couldn’t feel worse if I was a Dodgers’ fan. It is that bad. I really need a Giants’ WIN. Do they understand that? One human being – the team needs to do it – for me.

  37. eddacker said, on April 27, 2013 at 4:16 am

Half of all the baseball teams that played yesterday lost

but, just for today, we score – we win

  38. Flavor said, on April 27, 2013 at 7:32 pm

    Very nice.
