Game Time Thread!
I should call this “Sandy’s Thread” since he’s the one who inspired me to do these…..
Non-Game Thought:
Which former Giant would you most prefer acquiring at the break? Nate or Cody Ross. The answer should come to you rather quickly if you’re following their seasons.
Really looking forward to Puig’s first at bat tonight. Bum don’t play around with the inside of the plate.
Nate or Ross? Bleh. Nate, I guess, because it would be painfully annoying watching Ross throw bats into the stands.
Per Bochy, Pagan to have leg surgery tomorrow in LA…
Which leg?
Does our top crack Giant medical staff know for sure?
lol. There’s probably a scope or something they can do on the *good* one just let ’em be… π
Why did they throw this fucking guy a ball into his wheelhouse outside? So fucking stupid
You told Bum in the thread not to pitch Puig inside. π
At least we didn’t have to wait long for the first Puig dinger against us…
I absolutely did not say don’t pitch inside. I said “Bum don’t play around with the inside” as in “Don’t fucking lean over the plate or you’ll get your ass drilled”, Sorry if it didn’t come though in text. Bum owns the inside part of the plate except tonight when he inexplicably decided to throw him a meatball into his wheelhouse on the outside part of the plate. I actually blame Posey more since he called the pitch.
OK, I misread your intent on that one…
Pagan supposedly out 12 weeks post surgery. My translation = he’s done for the season…
absolutely. This “6 week fantasy” shit that first came out was always a hoot.
During the course of a seasson we are going to see all these problems:
RISP
fielding errors
opposing pitchers
Pablo swinging bunt to load the bases
Posey cold streak
Belt not maning up
stupid pop-outs after visit to the mound
IMHO
Incredible finish to the hockey game. In the time it took for Scutaro and Posey to bat, the Blackhawks scored twice late to rally from 2-1 down and win 3-2 to take the Cup.
and Yungo, doing the defense dance, WTG
What the hell is going on with running the bases at Dodger Stadium? First Arias hurts his hammy, and now Posey almost takes himself out while stumbling around third.
Pushing midnight here on the east coast, and relatively quiet on the Flap for a Dodger game… Interesting…. Yeah, Pagan is indeed likely PaGONE for the year. The team didn’t really handle that one well, did they. I love the guy but I’m completely fine with Blanco in CF and lead-off the rest of the way. Until I’m not. Pablo’s back, that’s good.. Buster seems a bit cold these days, that’s not good… Crawdad forced to play with bad fingers… Under Pants could be the key guy against Ryu tonight. June can’t be finished soon enough for the Gints, me thinks. Here’s hoping for a great July.
Great post. Who is UnderPants? Not to be confused with The Undertaker, I presume. Who came up with “The Undertaker” for Bum? That was a nice call, surprised it didn’t catch on.
HunterPence=UnderPants
Pence, with his super-hero long socks.
Gotcha-makes sense. Thanks Chuck.
Stixwiz
Really? He came up with The Undertaker AND gave out a killer recipe for mashed potatoes.
That’s impressive.
4 walks and 7 hits in 5 innings, and the Giants have amassed ONE run? Epic fail.
Torres is comporting himself nicely in the OF though.
We are batting 667 w/ RISP tonight.
How does our body language look? I’m listening, so I can’t tell.
I feel we are manning up, but it could be that we are just suffering from a cold streak. These things are difficult for me to discern.
…only a select few have the gift.
lqtm
Shit, Buster, didja not notice the location of the home run pitch? It was right where you called that 1-2 pitch.
It’s completely unreal how they’re calling this game to him. It’s like they’ve never seen a scouting report on him
Not one of Miller’s better innings. He had Puig rung up on strike two and called that play like a straight-up double play.
Krukow screwed up, too. He said Puig hit the first pitch he saw from the Giants for a homerun. It was the third pitch.
He said first swing . . .
Hmmm….you sure about that? π
I think so! Too lazy to go back . . .
All three older guys on the broadcast crew are showing a little age. Not as quick on the descriptions, missing substitutions here and there, mispronunciations, etc. have been happening on a noticeable level compared to the past…
The ESPN announcer just got excited about Puig trying to go to third even though the Giants had gotten the third out.
2 hits for Puke, O for the rest. One man can only inspire so many
I forgot for a moment, too.
Can someone inspire the Giants to score some runs?
Ah, so Puig (Puke!) is human afterall…..
That’s right at the spot where Harper did his face-plant.
I said that Harper crash might have been due to that weird scoreboard-on-the-wall out there. I’d find all that brightness very distracting going after a ball. At least I think I would…
There could be something to that. Puig seemed to think he had more room
PuiGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Shit. The whiff . . .
Can we do anything about it?
Oooooooooooooooooof course not.
What’s the deal with these five-tool OFs who don’t know what the warning track means? Puig’s error should’ve led to a run.
Oh. Now the LA scorer calls that error a double. I disagree.
I totally agree. I can’t believe how the ESPN2 drones were prattling on about no error. Of course it was an error. Ask Puig. Ask his face.
I’m a late-arriving, after-round-midnight refugee from the preceding thread. Found out the game is on ESPN2. Let me declare how much I LOATHE their color guys: I think they are Aaron Boone and Rick Sutcliffe. Dreadful. Unlistenable.
Yes, I am pretty sure that Stixwix came up with The Undertaker during Bum’s performance against the Rangers in the 2010 WS.
He did. Anyone know how Kemp did tonight in Albuquerque? If he didn’t stub his toe or worse, he should be back in the Dodgers’ lineup tomorrow. He has just one hit and has struck out five times in eight plate appearances in his two rehab games. Smokin’!
“Smokin’, Smokin’ we’re cooking tonight, just keep on tokin’
Smokin’, Smokin’ I feel alright mama, I ain’t jokin'”
Paco Rodriguez sounds like the name of a character in “Desperado.”
Pawlie! Good to have you here and thanks for the tip about ESPN2. My cheap ass has an extremely limited channel selection that includes The Deuce, but no regular ESPN. So now, I’m doing the bit where you listen to Giants radio guys on the TwinFan 6000 and have the game muted on the Magnavox. I’m having Jack Buck/Hank Stram MNF flashbacks with this set up.
Don’t have a good feeling, Gyros wasted a bunch of hits to get only one run. Of course, I never have much of a good feeling when SF is in LA…
#fuckme #theunraveling
Fuck. I was concerned about Bum going back out there after 107 pitches. I never thought to worry about his fielding.
Oh dear. You can see the faith Bochy has in his pen here.
TV is slow . . . This guy Punto is going to get a double.
Kontos is back?
Oh joy. Fuck this.
Fuck me.
They miss Casilla more than Pagan.
To my eyes, Bruce Bochy had a barely perceptible limp as he walked to the mound. That’d be about right.
I may need another break from this shit. These guys are playing like the 2008 version. 15 baserunners and one run.
With so many guys hurt, the team’s chemistry has been really thrown out of whack…
Kontos should’ve just served the suspension.
Welcome back Kontos. Sounds like a 70s comedy sitcom, without the comedy.
The home-erotic, bulging pants (or is it teenage-girl-crush) drivel about Puig from these ESPN guys is embarrassing.
make that homo-erotic. Who cares. homo. home. What.ev.er.
Well, it changes the phrase, “Hi honey, I’m home!”
At least I don’t have to listen to that. Not much else is going right though.
I agree, Pawlie, it got very, very annoying at the end.
Fat pitch to Puig by Kontos. Maybe he needs more seasoning back in Fresno. Puig really squares up the ball if it’s anywhere hittable…
House of Horrors. Sheesh, saw that one coming (all’s ya had to do was look at his grip on the pitch. Wild. Pfffft).
and Papelbon — one of my few saves guys on FL — is flaming out again
Bruce is about to “channel” Casey Stengel with his bull pen . . . “Can anyone play this game?”
Oh Lord, now Tim Kurkjen is joining the circle jerk for Puig. I mean, hell, it’s not like he’s blasted three homers. And they were aghast at the idea he committed an error. THIS IS AWFUL. Pablo dropped that ball. Puig was out. Awful.
I’ll replay what I said up above to Chuck. I think with so many guys in and out due to injury, there’s no chemistry to this team right now. There you go, Pablo just whiffs on that tag, that should have been an out — his defense is getting suspect…
Thought you were joking.
That would have been me.
Very, very slim chance with Jansen closing.
Night night…
Even if we tie this game it’d be ginormous.
Amazingly, that’s exactly what happened with the Padres against the Phils a few minutes ago. Same score too. However, they may lose it in the 10th, with Rollins at 3rd base, with 2 outs.
There you go, the K rally.
hahaha π
What a fucked up game.
Tonight probably their best shot at a win.
Kid Kickham tomorrow, then Kershaw….ugh.
Is that for the Dodger series or the entire road trip?
Scutaro, inches away from a double.
I’m concerned, why are all those people still at Dodger stadium?
Fiddlesticks! Nip, that was for you.
BLEEP!
Yawn. ‘Nite all. π¦
G’night, girls. For my mental health I may have to start watching 2010 or 2012 postseason DVDs during real-life games. Or rereading the memorable issues of The Chron that TedSpe graciously sent me. Don’t laugh.
Puig really can do it all: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/tennis/news/20130624/wimbledon-monica-puig.ap/
Kontos giving up a hit to Puig was hardly the sin- the double to Punto was the screw up.
Good night fellas. I’ve got a hunch Kickstand is gonna hang a Quality Start on the board tomorrow. And if Ex #1 does me a solid, I may be in the house for Wednesday’s game. I feel great about that one with Timmy taking on Kershaw—who really struggles against us.
…yes that was a joke
With all due apologies, Pawlie, but… we (don’t) score, we (don’t) win… Ugh.
The visitor’s dugout I saw tonight looked very un-teamly. and that was when the score was tied.
sniff…..
