pretty cool that the top two guys tried to outsmart each other by taking the Cards figuring the *other* guy would be taking Boston. 🙂

    • Rooster said, on October 23, 2013 at 4:57 pm

Actually, there are 3 top guys – denny wins if the Sox win. The reason I took the Cards is because I always root for the NL in the series and I didn’t want to have to root for those bearded beaneater buffoons.

      • twinfan1 said, on October 23, 2013 at 6:07 pm

that’s not entirely accurate- denny gets to 10 if they win. but chi can tie if it goes 7. then the tie breaker kicks in.

      • Rooster said, on October 23, 2013 at 6:16 pm

A-ha! yes – my bad. Good point.

  2. unca_chuck said, on October 23, 2013 at 4:54 pm

Shit. If I’m right, then Dennis wins, and Birddog gets the turntable.

Oh well. Close but no cigar.

  3. unca_chuck said, on October 23, 2013 at 4:59 pm

My only thought on this shit that I’ll sorta watch is I don’t want the Cards to do what the Giants just did. And that’s win 2 in 3 years. Throw in the 2006 win and that’s 3 in 8 years.

    Fuck ’em. Go Boston.

don’t anyone give up- the ‘hair in a can’ is still up grabs- and look. i’ve seen pics of most of you and if you don’t need it now- you will soon…
‘but seriously, folks’, as i said- it’s not over for any contestant- i’m running this like a cheesy reality show- i have surprises up my sleeve…

  5. salty said, on October 23, 2013 at 5:12 pm

    I thought I wrote 38? 😉

    • twinfan1 said, on October 23, 2013 at 5:40 pm

your email says 33 but if the other 2 leaders ok it, i’ll change it to 38. i’m replying to your email with your picks as i got them

      • salty said, on October 23, 2013 at 5:46 pm

        No, I was jk. I wrote 33.

      • twinfan1 said, on October 23, 2013 at 5:47 pm

i suspected it was a joke but i responded as if it wasn’t. ok- i’m dense. 😦

Kozma flat out killing the Cards so far.

  7. eddacker said, on October 23, 2013 at 6:24 pm

    hey, all:
too cool with twin and the contest. I am happy for my man Timmeh.
I was trying to decide to watch the sox ort the cards broadcast team when I realized it is much worse: FOX

  8. eddacker said, on October 23, 2013 at 6:37 pm

WOW, How did those two teams with the big questionable trade last season both end up in the championship series? The easy answer for Boston is, “Goll-oll-ie! Those coaches really do make a difference.” but that doesn’t explain LA. Stop me, but wasn’t Lester crap last season?
I really have been out of the loop. Next you will tell me Blade took the fantasy league.

    🙂

Edd, did you get your shirt?…

      • eddacker said, on October 24, 2013 at 12:39 am

I thought I had emailed you?? It came quite quickly, in reality, and was much appreciated. Now if I can just wear it to a game at the yard . . . .

  9. twinfan1 said, on October 23, 2013 at 6:47 pm

it didn’t take long for this game to get me washing the floors.

There was some talk about football broadcasters the other day, and one thing I didn’t know was that Mr. Scott’s old partner Tony Canadeo was a HOF running back for the Pack and played late 40s-50s.
Niners guys I heard first were Bob Fouts (Dan’s dad) and Gordy Soltau, famed end I don’t remember. Neither were rated too high by my parents/family and friends.
Mostly I remember Simmons…Niners often weren’t very good in those days, and he was just as often hilarious.

Today evokes tides of emotion and memory in my body and soul: one year ago, Game 1, 2012 World Series. Ah, yes. Yes. http://amzn.to/R67mQ7

    • chipower9 said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:32 am

Love that photo on the cover…Attitude of Gratitude! Next year I will make sure to bring all of my Pawlie books to the Flapalooza so that I can get them signed by you.

      • PawlieKokonuts said, on October 24, 2013 at 12:42 pm

Thanks, Chuck. Still regret not spending mo’ time with you and your womanz. Unca_chuck tells me the three of us are all tech writers. Obviously, I have diverged into other paths, more web content and ad copy lately…and books that have yet to be optioned to Hollywood. Well, we all diverge here. And merge, purge, and scourge, too.

wow, looking at everyones run totals and and you all seem to think that last night was not an anomaly?? So what I have to hope for is that Pitching starts dominating.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:25 am

Not likely Kevin . . . Both of these teams can bring it offensively. Couple that with Boston’s Fenway Park factors, I see the scores typically being high.

      • Irish Kevin said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:28 am

ha ha, Blade, I am trying to win the Bragging rights for the Best of the Rest!! Don’t ruin it for me!! ha ha ha ha

      • blade3colorado said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:33 am

Umm . . . Unfortunately Kevin, “best of the rest” will probably only qualify for the “Hair In A Can” boobie prize and consequently, if I do win that – as a gesture of good will, I’ll gladly instruct Twin to forward it to you. 😉

      • Irish Kevin said, on October 24, 2013 at 9:11 am

ha ha well, if you saw a pic of me you would know I need it!! ha ha

  13. chipower9 said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:33 am

Boston in SEVEN, baby! Boston Strong!!!

  14. chipower9 said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:35 am

Edd – I was thinking about you yesterday (as in “where the fuck is Edd”). You haven’t been around here or on FB for a whille. Glad to see ya here, brother! And get your ass over here for the Flapalooza next year, and we can all rock our shirts together.

  15. Nipper said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:35 am

Series are very unpredictable. Stars flop sometimes and the bench players come out of nowhere to succeed. Anyone remember Dusty Rhodes? I don’t but the sport history books do.

    • chipower9 said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:44 am

Nope, but I remember Dusty Bottoms.

  16. chipower9 said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:43 am

Kevin – how was the grub at Lucca last night?

    • Irish Kevin said, on October 24, 2013 at 9:12 am

It was very good. I had the spicey Penne with chicken, my wife had the Cippino(spelling?)

  17. zumiee said, on October 24, 2013 at 8:55 am

I heard an ESPN broadcaster call Beltran this morning “arguably the best post-season player of all-time.” Well, then, I expect great things from Beltran in this World Series.

    • chipower9 said, on October 24, 2013 at 9:11 am

Beltran day-to-day with the severe rib bruise. Awesome catch he made to rob Ortiz of the grand salami.

Beltran’s post-season stats: 337 batting average, 16 homers and 37 RBI in 45 previous postseason games.

If he cannot go, or isn’t near 100%, it’ll be a huge loss for the Deadbirds.

Bruised ribs for Beltran? – The Baseball Gods deliver karmactic comeuppance.

    • twinfan1 said, on October 24, 2013 at 10:27 am

he did say ‘arguably’ so you can argue that it’s ‘mark ellis’ 😉

  18. twinfan1 said, on October 24, 2013 at 10:36 am

new thread, the exciting ‘race to save face’- with more prizes….

  19. blade3colorado said, on October 24, 2013 at 10:38 am

I just read an article (and commented) in the Denver Post, http://blogs.denverpost.com/rockies/2013/10/24/no-jose-abreu-so-what-next-for-rockies-and-world-series-musings/15847/ that indicated the Sherpas have $5 to $9 million total to spend to upgrade their luge team. OK, so there’s one team the Giants should be in front of next year. 😉

    • twinfan1 said, on October 24, 2013 at 10:55 am

they should be able to get next year’s 5 starting pitchers for that…

      • blade3colorado said, on October 24, 2013 at 11:16 am

Yeah, the Sherpa business plan should have plenty left over for the October “No Playoff Annual Golf Tournament” at the Denver Public golf course.
