A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Wandering in the Darkness

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 30, 2014

San Dawg laid down the gauntlet and challenged me to rise up and lead Flapper Nation out of the valley of darkness. I’ve tried all morning to come up with something that i could truly believe in writing and, sadly, I’ve got nothing. This reminds me of the time we were at the game last April and we were trying to get up to the Club level. I was wandering around looking for the elevator or escalator, Diggity was trailing behind. Suddenly, he realized I was lost and he just goes, “How can this happen? You’re Big Flavor…”

Absolutely one of the funniest moments of that game…..

And when San Dawg reads this thread, I imagine he’ll say the same thing as he did that day. Sorry, my man, I’m lost  in the darkness like everyone else.

Because the bottom line is this: this isn’t a bad stretch and they aren’t losing because the team is pressing or gripping or whatever Krukow said this morning on KNBR. They are losing because they have too many bad players playing for them. There’s a reason Dan Uggla was let go by the Braves. And it wasn’t to clear a pathway for the vaunted Tommy Freaking LaStella. It was because he was done. Kaput. Cannot play mlb anymore. Can play beer league softball with Byrnes if he so chooses….

Look at the bottom of today’s line up: Panic, Blanco, Susac, Lincecum. You simply cannot score runs consistently when 44% of your line up, IN A ROW, sucks like that. AQnd it doesn’t matter if Uggla or Arias or Arianza or whoever gets subbed in there.

So that’s all I got today. Another loss is looming. And the sun has set on our season…..

BBOTD In keeping with your theme BF, the Sun has set on the Giants season. Well I bet when the sun sets on this young lady she will be having a better time than the Giants.

    • Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:17 pm

Sun hasn’t set on SHIT! There are 54 fucking games left after today. Don’t make me release my flying monkeys…

  4. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 12:40 pm

Yeah, your dad said that BEFORE the collapse, didn’t he? I mean, we were riding high when said that, right?

I just hope getting Belt back helps some. This season CAN be salvaged. Besides, we get waiver-wire claims in front of the Dogs.

Pfffffft. That’s all I got in the optimism dep’t.

Rudy: We’re gonna go inside, we’re gonna go outside, inside and outside. We’re gonna get ’em on the run boys and once we get ’em on the run we’re gonna keep ’em on the run. And then we’re gonna go go go go go go and we’re not gonna stop til we get across that goalline. This is a team they say is… is good, well I think we’re better than them. They can’t lick us, so what do you say men?

Giants score 6 runs in 6 games..
A’s score 6 runs in the 9th inning alone to beat the Astros last night…

    • Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:19 pm

FUCK THE GOD DAMNED FUCKING FUCK A’s. I could give a RAT’S ASS WTF they and the rest of the Junior Fucking Circuit are doing…

    A zero in top 1st! There’s a start.

  8. gianthead said, on July 30, 2014 at 12:59 pm

After the last two nights, I have hit rock bottom. And just realized two minutes ago I am taking my kid to the Mets game on Monday (at least I only suffered 3 pitches on Monday and 2 batters last night)…I am as lifeless as the Giants…

    Morse with an RBI!!

  10. zumiee said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:06 pm

The ump is killin’ this Pirates pitcher.

  11. zumiee said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:09 pm

The BABIP breaks are on our side this inning!

  12. stickman said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:14 pm

The darkest hour is just before dawn. Noticing too where Houston is well up on the A-Hos. Life looks a bit better right now.

  13. Macdog said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:17 pm

    1, 2, 3 freakin’ runs!

  14. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:21 pm

I KNEW we needed a fresh BBOTD! Orange and Black and Don’t Look Back!

Get a win today, and go get healthy on the road…

Don’t know if anyone posted this, but . . .

    http://www.csnbayarea.com/giants/giants-notes-bochy-crawford-meet-belt-pagan-closer?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo

Interesting that Boch talked ‘at length’ with Crawfish.

    • Nipper said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:33 pm

      Chuck is thinking….thinking…..that’s dangerous!

    • zumiee said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:37 pm

“We’re trying to get him to shorten up”

Well, that’s the thing. His swing is too big. I’m not sure how you fix that at this point in the season, but at least the thought is there.

    • Irish Kevin said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:49 pm

      Also from the article

Will they add anyone else, say, Emilio Bonifacio or Asdrubal Cabrera or Chris Denorfia?

Those are among the irons in the fire, but nothing was imminent at least as the first pitch neared Wednesday.

  16. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:39 pm

FUCK! Just QUIT pitching to Harrison. And quit walking the damned pitcher, too!

  17. zumiee said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:44 pm

Roy Batty, do you have any thoughts on the Giants’ troubles?:

Roy: “I’ve… seen things you people wouldn’t believe… Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those… moments… will be lost in time, like tears… in… rain. Time… to die…”

    Er….OK, Roy….uh, thanks.

  18. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:48 pm

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!

  19. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:52 pm

Hey – that’s a way for Blanco to get on base…

  20. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:54 pm

Yeah baby – way to go Susac! First hit…first RBI! Making Roseville proud!

  21. Bozo said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:54 pm

    Nice swing, crack.

  22. zumiee said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:55 pm

    Susac attack!

  23. gianthead said, on July 30, 2014 at 1:56 pm

Did that article say Bonifacio???? 🙂

That deal would not change my sour mood I think…unless this is the start of 8 wins in a row. That is an amazing fact that through all those lean years, we have never been swept at home with a 6 or more games homestand…hopefully that was not a jinx…

  24. zumiee said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:07 pm

Bochy’s seen enough of the Timmy show today.

  25. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:10 pm

Fuck this…I am out. I hope to check scores later and see our boys rallied and won. Got two new CDs in the mail (both by a young lady out of Austin -Sarah Jarosz). Going to give them a spin. Later Flappers.

  26. Bozo said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:11 pm

I liked the Pirates better when they were our Triple A team.

  27. Macdog said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:14 pm

There goes the lead again, and probably for good. Man, this is hard to take.

  28. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:50 pm

Oh, boy. I dare not look. I figured I’d check here before going to Gamecast. Doesn’t sounds very promising.

    *gulp*

  29. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:54 pm

So, after his nice convo with Bochy, Crawfish now compounds his hitting woes into fielding ones as well?

  30. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:56 pm

    Chris Stewart?

  31. Bozo said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:56 pm

WOW. Pirates are trying to give this game back to us.

  32. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 2:57 pm

    What happened? Game day’s, a crawl. I suppose I’ll find out in 10 minutes . . .

  33. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:02 pm

Game day just ignored the DP.

  34. SanDawg said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:02 pm

Laughing my ass off hearing Miller and Flem break down what did or might have happened on that freak double play.

  35. dirtnrocksnomo said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:03 pm

That Gotham Club out behind the manual scoreboard looks pretty cool.

  36. SanDawg said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:05 pm

Runners were on 2nd and 3rd. It appears runner on 2nd thought there was a runner on first, so he just started sauntering over to 3rd after the walk. Susac somehow doesn’t notice him halfway on his walk from 2nd to 3rd and no one alerts him. He tossed ball to Machi, who then gets notified by someone that this knucklehead is walking to 3rd base and throws to Crawford, leading to two rundowns and two outs.
    That’s their take, anyway.

    • unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:38 pm

Aaahhhh no shit? First base was open but the guy started walking to 3rd?

And we didn’t fuck up either run-down?

  37. SanDawg said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:21 pm

    Gregor Comes Alive!

  38. Macdog said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:28 pm

    Stewart finally helps the Giants.

  39. stickman said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:30 pm

Question now is can the bullies hold em? So far they were magnificent.

  40. Bozo said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:38 pm

Whew. i wouldn’t mind a couple more runs.

  41. Flavor said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:39 pm

See? All I had to do was write a “give up” thread, pop up a new BBOTD and we’re good to go.
Bonifacio could be coming our way in the next hour or so. Of course, there are 2 other teams in on him so Sabes probably gets outbid……

  42. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:46 pm

WTF…so good to see the boys rallied. I bailed when the Bucs when up 5-3. Let’s get some more runs here boys. Giants need a win…fuck, I need a win to help maintain any semblance of sanity.

  43. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:49 pm

Dammit! I want someone better than Bonifacio. Give me Zobrist or Utley…but not fucking Bonifacio. Plus, if the deals gets done, we’ll hear no fucking end of it from GiantHead (he will then have a monstrously BIG Giant Head)…

    • Bozo said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:15 pm

Hah, I was thinking the same thing.

  44. Chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:50 pm

    WHOOT! Pablito!

  45. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:54 pm

At this point Danny Bonaduce would do.

  46. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 3:55 pm

    Or Napoleon Bonaparte.

  47. dirtnrocksnomo said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:03 pm

Bonifacio strikes out a lot, low obp and BA. Sounds like Sabean’s kinda guy. Probably the best he can do without giving up too much.

    • James said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:20 pm

Good call, Bonifacio is truly a Sabes kind’ve player — look he’s batting .279! Never mind that it’s been Wrigley and KC the last two years, and the rest of his stats are subpar.

He’s no better than Arias, who, like Blanco, would also probably go on a hot streak, if you gave him the ABs.

      • dirtnrocksnomo said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:26 pm

Yep. I’ve said more than once that I am fan of Sabean but at some point his fundamentally flawed approach to the offensive side has got to catch up to him.

      • chipower9 said, on July 30, 2014 at 8:02 pm

Thank you James. It means a lot to me to have it come from someone else. GH and others were clamoring how he would be a big upgrade…even more so than the likes of a Zobrist. Seriously, thanks.

  48. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:09 pm

    Or Harry Belafonte . . .

  49. SanDawg said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:09 pm

FUCK YES!!! Now let’s leave this House of Horrors we call home and make some hay on the road.

  50. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:10 pm

    A . . . . a . . . . . . . . . . ah . . uh, a win?

  51. Macdog said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:11 pm

Oh, what a relief: Great job by the ‘pen.

  52. unca_chuck said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:12 pm

All I can say is I’m glad we have a shitload of roadies left.

    • Nipper said, on August 1, 2014 at 6:56 am

Thank GOD for FOOTBALL. Giants are about as interesting as a CFL game. Sabean has collected a ZZZZZZ lineup that will certainly cure insomnia.

  53. stickman said, on July 30, 2014 at 4:35 pm

Three cheers for the Battling Bullies: 6.2 IP, one hit, three walks, NO RUNS. Go get em road warriors. Nice parting note to the place which should be officially called WILLIE MAYS FIELD. That and an adjustment to the wall in right-center and Jobu will be much pleased and give us back our homefield magic.

Nice to see Blanco’s contribution and those by the two rooks, with Susac gettilng his first ML hit and RBI. He will have plenty more of both sporting the orange and black.

  54. Nipper said, on August 1, 2014 at 7:00 am

We’re reduced to cheering for some kid by the name of Susac. What’s next the grasshopper found on the turf? Remember all the great players of the past? The name GIANTS used to mean something.
