Wild Card Thread!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 1, 2014

This day went extremely slowly. But finally, it’s almost time to play ball.

My gut feeling today wasn’t good but I won’t dwell on that.

We have a chance, I love our starting pitcher and I feel like we have enough of a line up to not totally surprise me with a win.

Trolls, it would not be a good evening for you to frequent the Flap…..

Go Giants!

my main man Trotter told his good buddy Looney, “No, in order to have a bad feeling you have to have had a good feeling, therefore you have no frame of reference.”
    I just love that line….

    • blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2014 at 4:59 pm

      Very Zen like.

  2. blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2014 at 4:58 pm

Succinct and sweet Flavor. Especially the last line. Grrrrrrrrr . . . Sleeping Giants awake all over planet Earth.

  3. wswins said, on October 1, 2014 at 4:58 pm

Well lets hope all the bettors are wrong all day the money has come in on Pitt…so now the line is pick em…they’re both -105

    • wswins said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:02 pm

That’s at sportsbook…oddsmaker has the Giants -110 pitt even

  4. gianthead said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:13 pm

    Did Posey just get boo’d?

  5. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:16 pm

Yeah, not sure what that was about. Other than you boo the good ones.

    • gianthead said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:33 pm

Posey is a hard person not to like

  6. Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:21 pm

very nice start for Bum. He looked nearly unhittable in that inning.

  7. stickman said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:22 pm

Can you get any tighter for starters? Volquez 8 pitches 6 strikes. Bumgarner 8 pitches 7 strikes.

  8. Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:32 pm

Volquez needs to chill himself out or this will be a short night for him. His balls are all over the place.

  9. salty said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:32 pm

Time to pounce on this guy.

  10. gianthead said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:32 pm

    Great AB from Belt

  11. ODB said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:35 pm

Ishitwata with a bad AB there. Too much first pitch swinging.

  12. gianthead said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:37 pm

Wasn’t there a troll ban tonight???

  13. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:47 pm

Jesus Pence is really amped on coffee, it was Panik’s ball on the way.

  14. stickman said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:55 pm

Gotta love Panik. He simply knows how to slash those hits. The way BA’s have gone down in the NL it would not surprise me a bit if he and Buster fight it out for the 2015 NL batting title. Of course Posey would have to be playing at third or maybe first most of his starts.

  15. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Agree with Flav, Volquez is all over the map with his stuff. He will dig his own grave with his control.
Giants just need to be patience and they will roast him the 3rd time thru the LU.

  16. stickman said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:02 pm

Some economical pitching over 3: Volquez 38 pitches 27 strikes. Bumgarner 28 and 23. Simply amazing.

  17. salty said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Come on Pablo…You fecking own this guy.

  18. WilcoJoe said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:11 pm

Come on boys. Bags loaded with no outs. Let’s do this Craw!

  19. paulinasia said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:12 pm

Need to cash in here. Time for a big inning….

    • blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:28 pm

I knew that MOFO would crash and burn. In fantasy, I always avoided EV like the plague.

  26. gianthead said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:14 pm

    CrawDAD! Shades if Chuck Hiller!

    • DJLoo said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:26 pm

When Crawford hit it, I thought sac fly.
      Didn’t think he crushed it…

      • Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:31 pm

totally agree. I jumped off my couch cautiously…walked slowly toward the tv….and then went insane. Couldn’t believe it.

  28. stickman said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:16 pm

You want an RBI ~ call Crawdaddy. That stinger at the tail was so happy batting 7th that he went and did what he does best ~ drive em in. Salami can be delicious. None on hand as i’m sipping brandy and doing a couple rounds of fresh Timmy Treats.

  29. Macdog said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:17 pm

It got so quiet there so you can hear a pierogi drop.

  30. stickman said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:18 pm

So much for Volquez’ economy of pitches. No economy class for CrawDaddy. He decided he would rather fly business ++++.

    • dirtnrocksnomo said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:43 pm

First class all the way baby!

  31. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:25 pm

  32. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:26 pm

Freakin Crawdaddy has a flair for the dramatics on the big stage!!
Huge Salami silences the crowd as well!
    Bum “LOCKED IN THE ZONE
Ride Country Strong to the finish!!’

    • blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:29 pm

Agree AK. Just get outs Bum.

  33. Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:32 pm

  34. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:35 pm

    Message to Clint Hurdle…
Tell the interviewer how you really feel,
well our teams “Fucked “right now the way Bumgarner is throwing and I made a bonehead decision starting Volquez!!

  35. blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:41 pm

Connection sucks, so getting game info late.

  36. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:43 pm

Undertaker is just putting extra nails around the Pirates Coffins before the burial. He’s just money in big game starts, nothing fazes him&that’s what you have to have on the road in a hostile environment.

  37. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:46 pm

Nothing but doom& gloom on the faces of Pirate fans!
    Love it😄

  38. paulinasia said, on October 1, 2014 at 6:46 pm

Just curious from afar — usually there’s some noise from Giants fans on the road. Any there tonight?

  51. Macdog said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:17 pm

With a 5-0 lead, I was definitely glad to see MadBum throw to 1st there.

  52. Irish Kevin said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:18 pm

Mccutchen’s face just now says it all!! Defeated!

  53. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:24 pm

Kinda rare to have 2 MVP in back to back years (Posey 2012& McCucheton 2013)facing each other in a playoff.
Last time it’s happened was Bonds(1992) and Pendleton (1993)

    • Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:25 pm

well, no wild card till ’95 or whatever it was is probably a contributing reason

  54. Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:27 pm

ODB– if you would just stop for one post and not reference c*nts and cocks*cking, and salami stuffing and whatever else you’re obsessed with, I can peel off your filter.
Not all your posts are bad. Many of them make me lol and I know others feel the same way. Just dial it down a bit, dawg.

That game still sticks in my craw as well.

  59. Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:31 pm

Pirates fans are the saddest sacks I’ve ever seen. Stop moping around. Get on your phone. Go slam some beers. Leave. Just sitting there looking like mopey fucks is the worst look you could give your city…….

    • DJLoo said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:35 pm

Plenty of mopey fucks heading out on that tinker-toy bridge…

      • Macdog said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:38 pm

The Brandon’s rocking all the RBI’s tonight!!’

  61. blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:37 pm

I didn’t expect a rout of this magnitude. Just me take, but the season was successful with them getting into the playoffs, as I did not have too many outlandish expectations. That being said, they now get to play a legitame “series” . . . Not this one and out sudden death that the Pirates are experiencing. Anywho, my point is that the Giants have had a successful season and can make it one for the ages going forward.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2014 at 7:39 pm

*me = my . . . I was going to edit it, but WTF – that was in honor of Ed. 🙂

    • Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:02 pm

One thing cool about W/C elimination games, the winner like the Giants get an extra champange / beer party when they go all the way!!Murph will be a busy, but happy dude to accommodate that feat!

  66. Irish Kevin said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:02 pm

    • Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:03 pm

Hey, the Giants hit the post season and different shit starts going down. This is an unquestionable FACT.

  69. Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:10 pm

I’ve never been behind Loo’s grassroots push to get MadBum a new deal because of all the shit I’ve posted before. But right now, I’m behind the restructure.

    • chipower9 said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:25 pm

  76. salty said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:24 pm

Peavy might have to win games 1&5, Bum game 3. But what a game tonight. Homegrown boys got it done. They had that look of focused swagger again.

  77. Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:24 pm

Probably the most dominant pitching performance I’ve seen since Timmy executed the Braves in 2010.

  78. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:25 pm

    Undertaker dominating performance!!
    Complete game shutout 4 hits1 walk 10k’s

    • stickman said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:43 pm

Alley: Sure pleased that “Undertaker” take took with you. He sure does have that look, doesn’t he. As i noted when first using the term a World Championship or two ago, Big Country has the sort of look that any funeral parlor in the country would practically give up their left one to have on their staff for their most lucrative engagements. He wouldn’t make a bad prosecuting attorney type either.

Imagine standing there with an ash stick in your hands, getting hit with that glower and then trying to get decent wood on the move from that flashing left arm. Pittsburgh has some pretty decent hitters on that squad. The Undertaker made them look like a highschool nine tonight.

  79. Alleykat said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:28 pm

because I’m in a great mood and I do want to give out an ode to ODB because I think he’s on the verge of joining society, here’s an example of what he tries to post here that the filter whacks down:
Submitted on 2014/10/01 at 8:11 pm
Crawford hid his Salami deep in the Pirates throats!!!!
Submitted on 2014/10/01 at 8:17 pm
Crawford hid his Salami deep inside the Pirates snatches!!!!!!!

I tell ya, I don’t get paid enough to sift through and sort out the idiots from the internet but I do enjoy reading the trolls who end up in my filter. It’s pretty funny shit watching them try to post their idiocy over and over…..

    • dirtnrocksnomo said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:34 pm

Hey, I laughed. That’s some quality.

      • chipower9 said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:40 pm

  81. chipower9 said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:32 pm

Many said the Giants needed a big fly tonight. MudBug provided that, and more. First SS to hit a saiami in the post season. Unreal.

Look out motherfuckers cuz the Giant Express is coming through! Gonna put a Choo Choo on the nats!

  82. stickman said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:36 pm

When it comes to that one-game gotta win situation during the post-season Bumgarner has a significantly better track record than Kershaw. What a performance by the four big B’s tonight: Bumgarner, Brandon, Brandon and Buster. Add Bochy if you prefer uneven numbers.

Pirates were simply outclassed this evening. Never knew what hit em. Though Pittsburgh and SF had totally identical records during the regular season the Giants took advantage of Bumgarner’s killer instincts when it comes to post-season pitching and a pile of position players who have been to the dance and walked off with the Homecoming Queen in two of the past four seasons. Imagine what this team would have been like if they had been able to get full seasons from Panik and Belt ~ and had Cain not been hurting. No doubt they would have bettered the LaBumbos and racked up a good 95 wins.

So its the Nats next. Peavy is the kinda guy who just might could rise to the occasion, switching over to A.C. in D.C. Nats have had a tough time advancing the past couple years while they have been heavy favorites. Giants know how to do it. Who knows, maybe Petit and the bullies will hold tough, if BB15 goes the logical route and picks him rather than Hudson. Hudson, though, might be good for a five-inning stint ~ about like Petit. Way the offense chopped up the Pirates they too may be ready for Urinations Capitol. Strategy may be to win one there and sweep em at home.

As of tonight momentum favors the Giants.

    • chipower9 said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:39 pm

That’s exactly what I have been saying, Stix. Nats have been everyone’s darlings past few years and they don’the have jack shit to show for any of it. Fuck them. Bring it!

    • Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:42 pm

totally agree Stix. I see Peavy rising HIGH to this occasion….hey, when the post season starts we start doing different shit. End of story……

  83. chipower9 said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:36 pm

You know what is sickening. NONE of these ESPN fuckwads gave the Giants the time of day before this game, and now they are all stroking their fricking poles over our boys. Fuck off you two-faced bastards.

  84. dirtnrocksnomo said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:37 pm

    • DJLoo said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:42 pm

You’re right. It’s like listening to a Latin Cousin Itt…

      • Flavor said, on October 1, 2014 at 8:48 pm

I listen to it and I’m batting with myself to not be pissed off that he’s butchering my language vs appreciating how much I love how he hits a baseball and how he’s actually trying his ass off to learn the language and he’s speaking it infinitely better than I could ever speak his language…..
And at the end of the interview I just feel confused wondering if I should even be thinking about this.

I watched the game at the house of a local fan — raised out by San Jose. great food: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, cheesecake. We fielded texts from another SFG fan across town. A very pleasant time had by all. ‘Let’s Get It On’ followed by ‘I Feel Good.’ Play it again, SanFran.

awesome you found a friendly place to watch the game, PK. You know you always have a home here to watch one.

True, and thanks. Actually, I thought of blogging while there, which I have done before, but naw. First time G-men have won since we’ve had one of these watch parties.

In the streets of Luang Prabang, Laos, the villagers are going crazy. Firing off bottle rockets, dancing in the streets to Lao folksongs, tuk tuk drivers giving free rides to not only Giants fans, but all baseball fans. I’m tellin’ ya, this is some celebration here . . . Umm . . . uhh . . . Well, anyway – I am celebrating! 🙂

Awesome, clutch performance by a team that knows how to get it done when the heat’s on…
    This feels gooood….

Awesome game. Couple things I learned this morning. One was 7 of the 9 Giants starters in yesterday’s game were home grown players. Crazy. Sabean used to catch a ton of heat for that, but nowadays he’s got a team that is literally stacked with homegrown talent.

Another thing I heard is, on one of the last road trips, the Giants bus broke down, and the bus driver pulled off the road. Madison got some tools out and fixed the bus. He fixed the fucking bus! How great is that? Just picture Sandy Koufax wrenching on the team bus. Doesn’t compute. Bummie? No prob. I’m sure he changes out tractor engines without an engine lift.

Also found out his nickname is ‘Country Breakfast’ No idea what that means, but I love it.

Wow. What a fucking wild AL NLDS game. These Royals are something else. This is the “David and Goliath” AL match-up, as is the Giants and natty Nats in the NL! GO DOGS (under).
