A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Down 2 Games to 1

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 25, 2014

I wonder what it feels like to shell out $700 for a seat to a World Series game and watch your team lose. Serious question. I’ve been to one game, in 2010, and the memories from that game are as strong and as awesome as the day of the game. But would they sustain over the time had the Giants lost? It’s gotta feel like a win, as fan, to not pay the $700 and to not have to watch your team lose (in person).

It was fantastic to see Pawlie Kokonuts and Sarge yesterday. Freaking Pawlie was getting interviewed by someone associated with the Giants within the first 5 minutes that we hung out. Sarge braved the knot hole experience. He sent me some photos that I’ll post later….

Last night’s loss felt like a lot of regular season losses–can’t hit, can’t win. The pitching was fine. If the Giants can’t figure out a way to score some mid/late game runs against the Royal bullpen I don’t know what to say. Other hitters have broken through against them. This “HGH” stuff is overblown. They’re just men.

The weather stinks right now. Cold. Windy. It was raining earlier this morning. Weather God’s say the game isn’t in jeopardy. I know that several Flappers are hooking up pre-game to toast The FU and to socialize. Have fun up there, boys, sorry I couldn’t make it today.

Wow, line drive rocket all the way to the wall.
4-1 deficit turned into a thrash…really fun to watch this one.

Portions of the Royals vaunted bullpen may not be quite as advertised.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Well, this KC schmuck is going to “wear” the rest of the game. No way, no how, the so called “Big 3” show up for this fiasco.

  3. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:34 pm

    Timmy 8th? Strickland 9th?

  4. salty said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Safe enough now for a Strickland appearance.

  5. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

    Now it’s 11-4!

  6. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

    Woo hoo!
    Hitters saving bochy’s butt!
    Time for timmeh?

  7. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

Are you in a better mood yet, Flav?

  8. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

Asian feed is questioning Yost going to the bull pen so soon, implying that he fucked up big time.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:37 pm

Actually, they just said he screwed up. LOL.

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:38 pm

I thought he made a good move at the time; but there’s a huge drop-off after the “big 3.”

When the tide started to turn I stayed off the Flap and voila blow out!!!! You all can thank me later:) I think it is safe to go back to commenting!!!

Their bullpen is toast!!! And I bet you we are in their heads for the rest of the series…

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:38 pm

WTF? OK, GH gets all the credit. Sounds good to me. 🙂

  10. gianthead said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:37 pm

who just said Strickland??? Turn in your Flap credentials…

    • Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:43 pm

I agree!! I don’t want to see Strickland anywhere near a mound!! The mound he can close to is a Mounds candy bar!!

    • snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:46 pm

I guess romo was all warm, use him, but I’d put in lincecum and get him some reps

  11. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:43 pm

That’s the one drawback of having such a regimented thing: 7th inning guy, 8th inning guy, etc.. The inning the Giants were breaking it open, those guys don’t make an appearance.

    • Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:46 pm

IMO if one of three cant go more than one inning what good are they?? One out of three ought to be able to go 2 innings.

  12. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:47 pm

    Nice 7-pitch inning for Romo.

  13. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:50 pm

Strickland can warm up to come in and face the next RH batter from Albuquerque for Sacramento.

    • stickman said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:58 pm

Bochy is not always the bullpen maestro. Could be he thought he had the second coming of F-Rod with Strickland and overused him in high pressure situations. Got a feeling the kid will be alright over time but being thrown into the deep end of the pool in the Big Show may have been a bit more than his repertoire could withstand.

  14. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:54 pm

Great comeback. I’ll admit I did not see this coming after the clusterF early innings. It’s nice to score runs. I give panda credit for the clutch 2 run hit that broke things open – hitting RHed no less…

  15. Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:56 pm

Are you kidding me!! Bochy…sometime you are an ass!

  16. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:57 pm

Flav reported $700 for a ducat to attend the game. I think someone in the email Flapalooza string said $400. I hope those KC fans had to pay “visitor prices” of at least $1k

  17. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:01 pm

Even Strickland can’t give up a 7-run homer.

    • Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:05 pm

      Don’t bet on it!!

  18. wswins said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:01 pm

I want to go on record as saying Peter Gammons is a f*** trying to stir up bullshit controversy that mad Bum
    wanted to start this game

  19. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:02 pm

Strick’s slider is sick to RHBs if he throws it right

  20. Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:03 pm

Strickland is way too easy to hit!!

  21. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:04 pm

No way I would have done this, but this is what makes Bochy such a class act and why his guys go all out for him.
The kid obviously felt like shit after what happened, but Bochy gives him another chance to go out there and erase that memory, work on his craft and try to get ml hitters out.
Same with Lincecum who hadn’t been used in forever. He had a great outing and regained a lot of confidence.

  22. wswins said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:05 pm

Strickland has talent he’s learning it takes more than that in the big leagues

  23. Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:07 pm

Well you can bet the house that Strickland would not be out there with a 1 or 2 run game!!

  24. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:08 pm

    10 unanswered runs?

  25. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:09 pm

    Even it up!

  26. salty said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:09 pm

Good exercise for Strick…got to face some lefties. They may need him

  27. Bozo said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:09 pm

    Yes! Yes! Yes!

  28. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:11 pm

Panda has earned major cheddar with his post season performance so far

  29. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:12 pm

As many have noted, Strickland has talent and I agree, this was a good opportunity to get him some reps . . . Down the line, this will pay dividends. The dude is a stud and I think he will show that eventually. Book it.

Game over. This was big. If we had lost, only 4 of 47 teams have won the World Series with a 1-3 deficit. Frankly, I doubt we would have been the fifth. Now, it’s a toss up according to the statistics . . . Me? I am going with the Giants experience of having been here before.

See ya all tomorrow . . . Go Giants!

Royals complaining of extra wet base paths.
As we used to say in the schoolyard: “Tough shit”

That 20 MPH wind comes in handy. Can’t have dirt flying around. 🙂

Is it possible I was at the game yesterday, on the far side of the Cove? Today I flew to Philly and then to Ithaca, NY. Then I drove my car from Ithaca to Philly. (Don’t ask.) But I caught a lot of the game on the radio, from an AM station in Buffalo. I heard the Giants go up, 7-4. Suh-weeeeet. Now I lay me down to sleep. Eventually. G’night, girls. Great to see Magnus and Sarge; unfortunately missed Wilcojoe and his Dad and the rest of youse guys; saw Tike Nary. Worth it all. (Ask me tomorrow.)

Got in fairly late last night, fired up the laptop, and read a few stories about the Series. Between the stories themselves, and the comments from readers, I was feeling really discouraged: just seemed like a lot of hatin’ going on toward our San Francisco Giants. I had the feeling that everyone except SF fans is enjoying the very real possibility of KC winning this, even delighting in the G’s not looking very sharp. Woke up this morning really feeling like the team needed to charge out of the gate to stop all that shit. Wondering what happened to our mojo, I said to myself, “someone needs to crank it up, and soon… would be a huge turnaround to win this game and move forward from there. Step it up, boys!” And boy, did they ever. I was REALLY getting tired of reading smack-down talk and listening to the Fux announcers practically kumming in their pants about the KC bullpen. Fuck yeah, FU….

Ahhhh, hope you guys had fun out there in the City today/night. Crazy ass m=fing game. It was ugly until it got beautiful. Vogier continues his uncanny ability of having rotten luck out there. They got 4 runs on one ball reaching the OF.

Sandawg Jr and Allison came over right before the good stuff happened, so that was great timing by them. Ended up being a spectacular night and fun for all.

Funny thing is, we’re probably gonna hit the city tomorrow.

    Anyonre else game?

I’ll tell you boys& girls,I was at my local watering hole and my gal friend Lisa ,painted gamer face stripes of black& orange under my eyes after we were down 4-1and I was feeling we were toast, but it started to work and the Giants just started smokin base hits!!!
It was magical, as the power of just gamer face stripes, and a rowdy bar took over the game ,and the boys never looked back!!!
To Lisa, you are the bomb that might have turned this series around, and I am for ever grateful!!
