Down 2 Games to 1

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 25, 2014

I wonder what it feels like to shell out $700 for a seat to a World Series game and watch your team lose. Serious question. I’ve been to one game, in 2010, and the memories from that game are as strong and as awesome as the day of the game. But would they sustain over the time had the Giants lost? It’s gotta feel like a win, as fan, to not pay the $700 and to not have to watch your team lose (in person).

It was fantastic to see Pawlie Kokonuts and Sarge yesterday. Freaking Pawlie was getting interviewed by someone associated with the Giants within the first 5 minutes that we hung out. Sarge braved the knot hole experience. He sent me some photos that I’ll post later….

Last night’s loss felt like a lot of regular season losses–can’t hit, can’t win. The pitching was fine. If the Giants can’t figure out a way to score some mid/late game runs against the Royal bullpen I don’t know what to say. Other hitters have broken through against them. This “HGH” stuff is overblown. They’re just men.

The weather stinks right now. Cold. Windy. It was raining earlier this morning. Weather God’s say the game isn’t in jeopardy. I know that several Flappers are hooking up pre-game to toast The FU and to socialize. Have fun up there, boys, sorry I couldn’t make it today.

I’d rather have Pence’s productive hit.

    Yep. Knew that work. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think it’s over reacting to get after Bochy, myself. Vogs got done in by two IF dribblers and a bloop hit in front of Blanco. Hindsight I think Bochy sends Rags out there to calm him down a pitch or two into the AB of the guy he walked after Vogs f-ed up the play at 1b. He was obviously steamed at himself and then couldn’t get Infante out as he left a pitch up. That was the big AB so far. If you want to question Bochy for not getting Petit up to face Infante, OK…but I didn’t see anyone posting about it then.
And Machi didn’t hurt them, and he didn’t waste another PH. Morse and Ishi still available for late game heroics.
Petit is in there now and the bats have to get them back in it…as Posey grounds out again with RISP.
And Pence comes through and it’s a 1 run game. Relax and enjoy guys, long way to go and Yost is straining.

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:29 pm

It’s easer to relax after Pence’s hit. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:31 pm

And what have Yost’s pen guys since he had them all ready?

      • willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:32 pm

        “…done…”

      • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:32 pm

        They’re no Petits. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:31 pm

Well, I’m a punch-me face on that one. Nice hit, Pablo!!

  5. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:34 pm

    Has to be Morse!!!!!

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:36 pm

Nice sac fly by Perez, though. We’ll take it.

  6. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:36 pm

Heads up base running by Hunter.

  7. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:36 pm

Would like to have seen Morse instead of Perez, though.

  8. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:37 pm

    Robbed by great “baseball” play.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:41 pm

Exactly Mac. I didn’t really want Perez in that position (like Zum and maybe others). However, I was thinking during his AB, if he gets a hit, give him a Rowand type contract. LOL. With the sacrifice RBI, maybe something less . . . ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:39 pm

They’re really over-doing it on Dyson’s catch. It was a nice play – that’s all..

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:41 pm

You didn’t dig them giving us his life story after the catch?

      • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:44 pm

In Asia, we got the Reader’s Digest version.

  10. stickman said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:41 pm

Things just got interesting. Finally, a crooked number. Began with being down 4-2 and then a sudden Panik (you know what).

  11. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:43 pm

Hey I dig Morse, and if he’s OK, he’d start if I was making out the LU.
But, if he’s in for Perez this early, then you are stuck with him in LF the whole night unless you want to see Ishi, who isn’t gonna make anyone forget Yaz out there and isn’t exactly a gazelle either.

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:45 pm

True, but if Morse jacks a grandslam…. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:46 pm

    Nice! Belt is slick!

  13. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:46 pm

If the Giants win the series, Aoki should get a ring…

  14. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:47 pm

Yeah turn it brutha! That was pretty.

  15. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:48 pm

Petit is fired up! And so am I!
    Let’s get another run!

  16. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:48 pm

I’m surprised “God” didn’t beat Belt’s throw to second and break up the DP…

  17. Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:48 pm

I say let Petit bat!! The Giants need his shut down stuff!! GO GIANTS!!

  18. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:49 pm

Perez over Morse there made sense with one out. Morse is a dp potential, Perez has speed, if he makes contact the tying run likely scores and morse is saved for later…

  19. wswins said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:49 pm

they should invent an MVP for the entire postseason…ours is Petit

    • stickman said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:09 pm

      Agree.

  20. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:52 pm

Same situation yesterday and Panik did not bunt…

  22. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:55 pm

The Giants bats coming alive can cover a multitude of sins.

  23. James said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:56 pm

  25. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 7:58 pm

Wow, Blanco read Arias the riot act.

    • James said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:00 pm

      Which is a bit ironic.

        Exactly

  26. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:01 pm

They are saying on the Asian feed, that an intentional walk will no longer have to be “played out,” starting next season . . . WTF? I have seen many pitchers fuck up an intentional walk and if they only have to say, “intentional walk,” and the guy goes to 1st, that is bull shit.

Yeah money! Um paging Mr. Johnson…get the ink ready it’s gonna be expensive.
And Yost, I got ur bullpen right here.

  35. Flavor said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:05 pm

    nice managing by Yost. lol

    • willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:12 pm

Exactly man. He’s got the *best pen of all time* out there and all 3 of them are sitting on their butts while Giants score 6 consecutive runs off his SP and everyone he’s used since.

  36. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:05 pm

    Finnegan raked.

  37. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:05 pm

Now shut them down the rest of the game bullpen.

  38. stickman said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:07 pm

Wow! Giants went all Joycean on us and did Finnegan’s Wake.

  39. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:10 pm

And no, Ishi does not get to that except after a couple hops, and of course neither does Morse.

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:12 pm

Alright, I’m conceding that point. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:14 pm

No way Morse is out there with a 3-run lead in the 7th no matter who started in LF.

  40. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:11 pm

    Nice D!!!!!!!!

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:14 pm

  41. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:15 pm

The KC batter is thrown out from right field. You gotta love that shift.

  42. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:17 pm

And now my thanks for whomever perfected the mute button.
In the future when we’re all run by robots or there aren’t any actual humans left, I wonder if you’d be able to point a remote at someone and automatically get them to STFU.

  43. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:23 pm

The other day TF wrote about the contributions from all the players; there were huge hits from Duffy and Arias tonight.

  44. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:26 pm

An epic fail from Fox’s broadcaster’s; they already had Finnegan as part of a “big 4.”

  45. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:29 pm

This is the experience I was talking about coming into play. We have it. They don’t.

  46. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:30 pm

that was a nice bunt. Snarkk’s right, blanco should do that more often.

  47. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:31 pm

Wow! Shaking my head at the turn of events.

  48. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:31 pm

Gee, how come Dyson couldn’t run that down?

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:33 pm

Thinking I’m glad I didn’t purchase the Napalm at the local Ho Chi Minh 7-11.

    Okay…Giants WS baseball

  50. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:32 pm

  51. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:33 pm

Wow, line drive rocket all the way to the wall.
4-1 deficit turned into a thrash…really fun to watch this one.

  52. stickman said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:33 pm

Portions of the Royals vaunted bullpen may not be quite as advertised.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Well, this KC schmuck is going to “wear” the rest of the game. No way, no how, the so called “Big 3” show up for this fiasco.

  53. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:34 pm

    Timmy 8th? Strickland 9th?

  54. salty said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Safe enough now for a Strickland appearance.

  55. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

    Now it’s 11-4!

  56. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

    Time for timmeh?

  57. DJLoo said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

Are you in a better mood yet, Flav?

  58. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:36 pm

Asian feed is questioning Yost going to the bull pen so soon, implying that he fucked up big time.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:37 pm

Actually, they just said he screwed up. LOL.

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:38 pm

I thought he made a good move at the time; but there’s a huge drop-off after the “big 3.”

  59. gianthead said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:37 pm

When the tide started to turn I stayed off the Flap and voila blow out!!!! You all can thank me later:) I think it is safe to go back to commenting!!!

Their bullpen is toast!!! And I bet you we are in their heads for the rest of the series…

    • blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:38 pm

WTF? OK, GH gets all the credit. Sounds good to me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  60. gianthead said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:37 pm

who just said Strickland??? Turn in your Flap credentials…

    • Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:43 pm

I agree!! I don’t want to see Strickland anywhere near a mound!! The mound he can close to is a Mounds candy bar!!

    • snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:46 pm

I guess romo was all warm, use him, but I’d put in lincecum and get him some reps

  61. zumiee said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:43 pm

That’s the one drawback of having such a regimented thing: 7th inning guy, 8th inning guy, etc.. The inning the Giants were breaking it open, those guys don’t make an appearance.

    • Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:46 pm

IMO if one of three cant go more than one inning what good are they?? One out of three ought to be able to go 2 innings.

  62. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:47 pm

    Nice 7-pitch inning for Romo.

  63. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:50 pm

Strickland can warm up to come in and face the next RH batter from Albuquerque for Sacramento.

    • stickman said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:58 pm

Bochy is not always the bullpen maestro. Could be he thought he had the second coming of F-Rod with Strickland and overused him in high pressure situations. Got a feeling the kid will be alright over time but being thrown into the deep end of the pool in the Big Show may have been a bit more than his repertoire could withstand.

  64. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:54 pm

Great comeback. I’ll admit I did not see this coming after the clusterF early innings. It’s nice to score runs. I give panda credit for the clutch 2 run hit that broke things open – hitting RHed no less…

  65. Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:56 pm

Are you kidding me!! Bochy…sometime you are an ass!

  66. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 8:57 pm

Flav reported $700 for a ducat to attend the game. I think someone in the email Flapalooza string said $400. I hope those KC fans had to pay “visitor prices” of at least $1k

  67. Macdog said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:01 pm

Even Strickland can’t give up a 7-run homer.

    • Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:05 pm

      Don’t bet on it!!

  68. wswins said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:01 pm

  69. snarkk said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:02 pm

Strick’s slider is sick to RHBs if he throws it right

  70. Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:03 pm

Strickland is way too easy to hit!!

  71. willedav said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:04 pm

No way I would have done this, but this is what makes Bochy such a class act and why his guys go all out for him.
The kid obviously felt like shit after what happened, but Bochy gives him another chance to go out there and erase that memory, work on his craft and try to get ml hitters out.
Same with Lincecum who hadn’t been used in forever. He had a great outing and regained a lot of confidence.

  72. wswins said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:05 pm

Strickland has talent he’s learning it takes more than that in the big leagues

  73. Irish Kevin said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:07 pm

Well you can bet the house that Strickland would not be out there with a 1 or 2 run game!!

  79. blade3colorado said, on October 25, 2014 at 9:12 pm

As many have noted, Strickland has talent and I agree, this was a good opportunity to get him some reps . . . Down the line, this will pay dividends. The dude is a stud and I think he will show that eventually. Book it.

Game over. This was big. If we had lost, only 4 of 47 teams have won the World Series with a 1-3 deficit. Frankly, I doubt we would have been the fifth. Now, it’s a toss up according to the statistics . . . Me? I am going with the Giants experience of having been here before.

See ya all tomorrow . . . Go Giants!

Is it possible I was at the game yesterday, on the far side of the Cove? Today I flew to Philly and then to Ithaca, NY. Then I drove my car from Ithaca to Philly. (Don’t ask.) But I caught a lot of the game on the radio, from an AM station in Buffalo. I heard the Giants go up, 7-4. Suh-weeeeet. Now I lay me down to sleep. Eventually. G’night, girls. Great to see Magnus and Sarge; unfortunately missed Wilcojoe and his Dad and the rest of youse guys; saw Tike Nary. Worth it all. (Ask me tomorrow.)

Got in fairly late last night, fired up the laptop, and read a few stories about the Series. Between the stories themselves, and the comments from readers, I was feeling really discouraged: just seemed like a lot of hatinโ€™ going on toward our San Francisco Giants. I had the feeling that everyone except SF fans is enjoying the very real possibility of KC winning this, even delighting in the Gโ€™s not looking very sharp. Woke up this morning really feeling like the team needed to charge out of the gate to stop all that shit. Wondering what happened to our mojo, I said to myself, “someone needs to crank it up, and soon… would be a huge turnaround to win this game and move forward from there. Step it up, boys!” And boy, did they ever. I was REALLY getting tired of reading smack-down talk and listening to the Fux announcers practically kumming in their pants about the KC bullpen. Fuck yeah, FU….

Ahhhh, hope you guys had fun out there in the City today/night. Crazy ass m=fing game. It was ugly until it got beautiful. Vogier continues his uncanny ability of having rotten luck out there. They got 4 runs on one ball reaching the OF.

Sandawg Jr and Allison came over right before the good stuff happened, so that was great timing by them. Ended up being a spectacular night and fun for all.

Funny thing is, we’re probably gonna hit the city tomorrow.

    Anyonre else game?

I’ll tell you boys& girls,I was at my local watering hole and my gal friend Lisa ,painted gamer face stripes of black& orange under my eyes after we were down 4-1and I was feeling we were toast, but it started to work and the Giants just started smokin base hits!!!
It was magical, as the power of just gamer face stripes, and a rowdy bar took over the game ,and the boys never looked back!!!
To Lisa, you are the bomb that might have turned this series around, and I am for ever grateful!!
