Who’s Are MVP (So Far)?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 26, 2015

They were kicking this around with Hank Diddy on KNBR this morning. He went with Crawford and while I think that’s a pretty pedestrian pick, it’s got merit. For me, it’s Heston, hands down. I don’t even want to think about who we would have trotted out there every fifth day if it weren’t for that dude. Aoki should get some votes. Buster, too. Panik?

Who am I missing?

Oh, hell. I’m just going to say it. Belt.

    • Flavor said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:02 pm

the first post noticed my convenient omission my Mr. OPS. Nice.

      • dirtnrocksnomo said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:21 pm

Considering the injuries (Aoiki/Pence) and general suckitude of regulars (Pagan) or players intended to be regulars (McDP) I think Belt has been pretty valuable so far. Forced to make an honest decision though it is pretty close between Duffy & Heston. I’ll go with Duffy.

Bit early for me to make a pick. All the mentioned strands so far are doing well.

  3. sfsarge said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:12 pm

I’d say a strong case could be made for Vogie. But, the better choice is Heston.

  4. unca_chuck said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:21 pm

Bummie has been failrly great with little to show for his efforts.

    • sfsarge said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:39 pm

Of course, how could I forget Bum

  5. Lurker John said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:43 pm

Craw, because this level of production wasn’t expected and gave the team an early jolt of offense when it needed it most. That and his stellar defense.

    • Bozo said, on June 26, 2015 at 1:08 pm

      I agree, Lurker John.

  6. blade3colorado said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:55 pm

Has to be an every day position player in my opinion – Buster or Craw.

  7. snarkk said, on June 26, 2015 at 12:58 pm

MVP has to be ishi. He shows up, the home offense goes crazy…

    • Carstie Clausen said, on June 26, 2015 at 1:07 pm

Good one. It’s kinda similar to when the Very Most High Reverend Underpants made his cameo and Belt suddenly caught fire.

  8. Lisle Ellis said, on June 26, 2015 at 1:25 pm

I’m going with The Duffman. This kid has really stepped up … fielding a new position – and a rook nonetheless! I don’t have any facts & figures in front of me, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to recall he’s been integral in pulling quite a few games back from the brink with his bat, and defensively he has been pretty damn good. Maybe McDP should get some kinda award for being such a dismal fuckwad, affording us the opportunity to find out what a diamond in the ruff we have in The Duffman … damn shame Boch didn’t bench McDP a week or so earlier … If that had happened, we’d surely be in first place now.

  9. Jon R. Weeks said, on June 26, 2015 at 1:26 pm

The biggest and best surprise has been Aoki…….doing what a lead-off hitter needs to do…get on base.

  10. Lisle Ellis said, on June 26, 2015 at 1:44 pm

In other news … Cain acquitted himself quite well last night. And so did I! … it was $2 big beer nite – need I say more? Funny, more people roaming the concourse than in the stands. I didn’t get to my seat until the 4th. Temp at field level at first pitch must have been about 103. Cain seemed to be sucking wind early, giving up a couple of walks in the 2nd but worked a quick 3rd, labored again in the 4th giving up a single, homer (J. Singleton (16)), single. He worked 5.2 inns, 4Ks, 2BB, lowered his era to 4.02 from 4.35 on 98 pitches. I’d say he is ready to come home.

  11. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 2:06 pm

MVP..Have to go Heston, pitching staff besides Bum, was in shambles early on and he really solidified it stepping right in and pitching well..
    MVP… Most Valuable Parasite,
    McDP in a landslide..

  12. Macdog said, on June 26, 2015 at 2:44 pm

Pav: “Affeldt put on DL with left shoulder strain. Broadway called up.”

    • Carstie Clausen said, on June 26, 2015 at 4:04 pm

Whether the injury was for real or phantom, Affeldt’s performance yesterday was one for the books. It may have been the single worst appearance by any Giants pitcher this season. Even if Broadway shows only mediocre work, it still will be head and shoulders above Affeldt’s attempts this year.

  13. unca_chuck said, on June 26, 2015 at 4:43 pm

    Double double home run walk.

Ajfflrdt’s era was infinity yesterday. โžฐ

  14. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 5:26 pm

Calling all Outfielders, come on down.
Pagan, even though listed in the LU tonight, now limping around the clubhouse on a bad knee, could be another DL candidate.
    Their dropping like flys..

    • Bozo said, on June 26, 2015 at 7:17 pm

Gotta have someone out there, or the flies will be dropping (in).

  15. ewisco said, on June 26, 2015 at 5:48 pm

A very tasty prelim to the main event: us v china very entertaining so far.

  16. ewisco said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:02 pm

    Great pick by buster.

  17. Paul Sorensen said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:18 pm

Bozo said “Gotta have someone out there, or the flies will be dropping (in).” Good one. But only somewhat funny if Pagan is indeed hurt (again) for awhile. Hard to fathom what’s happened to the starting OF….

  18. xoot said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:45 pm

I agree about Posey at 1B–he picked Duffy’s short hop throw nicely (good stab by Duffy to begin with). htf did Posey get so competent at 1B? Guess we all know the basic answers there. Hudson was strong tonight through 5. Then. . . . And we have no starting OFs. The next couple of week are gonna be rough.

  19. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:46 pm

As usual with Hudson, Bochy left him in to long!
    Bye Bye Lead,,

  20. Paul Sorensen said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:56 pm

Who was it (Charlie?) here who said the other day about the Padres, “Why can’t we beat these guys?” I would apply that even more to the Rox…. put some runs up on these suckers, for crissakes…

    • alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:59 pm

Yeah screw the Rockies, like the Pads P/A, back to back rbi’s helps my mood a lot!!

  21. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:57 pm

    Alright Belt!
    Nice piece of hitting!
Let’s go Craw, keep the conga line moving..

  22. snarkk said, on June 26, 2015 at 8:59 pm

    Affeldt put on the DL?
For season to date suckitude? If we had a 27 man roster, things would be more truthful.
But, I love the DL ins and outs…

    • Paul Sorensen said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:04 pm

I have a feeling the G’s are going to be treating the DL like a revolving door over the next few weeks….

  23. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:09 pm

Well Snarkk, I was thinking of you on this one..
So supposedly if Pagan is just alittle banged-up, the Giants will wait him out and not DL( possibly 5 games, ahh fuck call it a week) they would go forward with a 3 man bench, and yes McDP is one of them along with Arias, and whoever?how exciting is that to play short- handed with that scenario!!

    • Lisle Ellis said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:20 pm

      Whatta freakin nightmare!

    • snarkk said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:30 pm

      I hate that.
Does an NFL team play with 51 guys active on gameday — or do they populate the allowed 53, or whateverthehell the number is?
      I just don’t get it…

  24. willedav said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:19 pm

    Hudson can’t stand prosperity.

  25. Macdog said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:20 pm

Goddamn, now the Giants have to rally twice.

  26. willedav said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:21 pm

Cargo increasing his tradeability right there with a rare shot off Lopez.
Arenado quickly turning into one of top 3b around, in field and at plate.

  27. unca_chuck said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:22 pm

Not gonna get to the all star game that way.

Fuck. Hate it when we come back and then
    glurg it back up.

  28. unca_chuck said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:23 pm

    Walks kill yet again.

  29. unca_chuck said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:28 pm

What are they? 6-0 here this season? Fuck that.

  30. Paul Sorensen said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:36 pm

The transitive theory (if A > B and B > C, then A > C) sure doesn’t apply to baseball. Dodgers kill D’backs and Rox… D’backs and Rox beat Giants …. Giants dominate Dodgers… love this game. Except when G’s are continually losing to this shit team from Colorado… at home…

  31. Lurker John said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:52 pm

Hudson needs to go bye, bye. I have zero confidence in Peavy’s ability to pitch effectively anymore, but he needs to get a shot. And when the fuck is Cain coming back? We’ve waited long enough. Hudson, Lincecum, to the DL, bench, bullpen, wherever, just out of the rotation.

  32. unca_chuck said, on June 26, 2015 at 9:58 pm

Well we shouldn’t be scuffling against this dogshit staff either.

  33. unca_chuck said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:00 pm

    Hudson wasn’t even that bad.

    • Lurker John said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:23 pm

That fucking atom bomb he gave up to Arenado looked pretty bad to me.

  34. Paul Sorensen said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:01 pm

LJ, I’m with you on Peavy, but of course with about $20m invested in him this year and next, they will give him every opportunity to pay off their investment, as well they should. I would just bet he won’t be very effective and might well be *done*. Not being negative, just being realistic. But hopefully, he will do what he did last year when he joined the team at the deadline. Trouble is, the bullpen, usually our strength, has seemed to struggle recently. Bochy really must work his magic, but he’s going to need better pieces to play. Sabevans, front and center….

    • Lisle Ellis said, on June 27, 2015 at 12:04 am

Heard that Peavy got hammered in Vegas tonight … gave up 5 runs in the 1st … Yikes!

  35. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:12 pm

    Lurker John,
I think the brass, wants “ALL”these pitchers back and on the roster.
Their gonna go with 16 pitchers 8 postion players and only McDP on the bench when they need a 2 ball..

    • Lurker John said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:25 pm

      lol

  36. Paul Sorensen said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:15 pm

And Broadway apparently doesn’t fit the bill as a “better piece”….

  37. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:17 pm

Strickland still has forgotten how far his “Gopher Balls” travel’
Arreando’s bomb is still in orbit.

  40. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:25 pm

Alright 5 runs to tie,6 to send who’s left home happy!
The bright side, we used Giggles earlier, so the miracle rally has a better % of success!!

  41. snarkk said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:32 pm

I leave for dinner at 3-3.
Now, I’m back and Gyros are down 8-3.

  44. snarkk said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:39 pm

I see where McDP already PH and made out. Well then, at least he can’t hit into a DP right now…
I continue to see no good reason why he is on the 25…

    • alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:53 pm

      You are not alone Snarkk,
McDP has long crossed the point of disgracing Giants uniform #14 for future players!
I mean would you want to be the guy cursed for life, knowing your gonna hit into multiple DP’s wearing that jersey?

  45. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:42 pm

Billy Hayes get some glasses dude.

  46. snarkk said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:42 pm

  48. snarkk said, on June 26, 2015 at 10:50 pm

Wow, really pitiful that the Giants continue to lose at home to these dogmeat teams. The Rockies are garbage…

    • Lisle Ellis said, on June 27, 2015 at 12:01 am

      I wholeheartedly concur, sir!

    • tomthebeekeeper said, on June 27, 2015 at 5:39 am

…FOR AS long as I can remember, both the Rockies and the Diamondbacks have given us trouble…

  49. alleykat69 said, on June 26, 2015 at 11:04 pm

    Boch on Pagan:
“Well you know, he’s gotta little swelling in the knee, day to day BS,we will evaluate with are top notch medical staff!
Translation, short bench for a week, not that we have one, cause Pagan will say I can PH if needed maybe once..

    • xoot said, on June 26, 2015 at 11:24 pm

he’ll be day to day, to deal with some swelling, x rays negative yesterday and mri this afternoon’ll tell us more but for now we’re thinking positive and in the meantime we need to get some runners on base and score some runs, that’ll be key, and our starters will have to take on a load now that our bullpen is gassed, but we’re feelin good overall.

  50. tomthebeekeeper said, on June 27, 2015 at 5:38 am

    …PANIK and CRAWFORD…
