A significant Giants presence in the ASG is usually a good sign for the NL.

  3. Carstie Clausen said, on July 14, 2015 at 2:56 pm

Loo: Hadn’t read your insert yet when i posted. High Larry Us congruence. When one Giant edges the other for MVP in the game you KNOW that SF had a significant presence.

While I’m no fan of the dogers I think it was a nice move by Bochy to give Greinke the start tonight. Early recruiting perhaps?

  5. wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:10 pm

Mattingly showed a little humility during an interview earlier today. Said the best part of the ASG for him was being part of the entire Giants coaching staff. Hoped he could learn a thing or two.

  6. wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:15 pm

Pete Rose part of the FOX pregame show.

  7. wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:19 pm

FOX playing Band of Horses, one of my favorite bands, as background music during their promos. Nice!

    • chipower9 said, on July 15, 2015 at 8:01 am

Missed that…I dig Band of Horses.

  8. djloo27 said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:45 pm

    They misspelled Yastrzemski. Nice work…

  9. wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:53 pm

Buster Posey part of the franchise four (including NY Giants)? What a joke.

    • Lisle Ellis said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:46 pm

      I don’t get it … who is your #4?

Of course, I love Posey but it seems a bit premature to put him in that pantheon.

      • wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:52 pm

Way too premature. That’s my issue. I understand expansion franchises like the Rays and Marlins having active players but the NY/SF Giants? That’s a slap in the face to the greats that came before him.

      • Lisle Ellis said, on July 14, 2015 at 6:22 pm

In no particular order … Ott, Spahn, Hubbell, Marichal, Mathewson … are a few that come to my mind immediately.

      • xoot said, on July 14, 2015 at 6:51 pm

        screeech?

      • Lisle Ellis said, on July 15, 2015 at 8:10 am

Thought I might sneak that by … should of put him in the middle or near the end …with Xoot on the case prob wouldn’t of helped. 😉

  10. Flavor said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:55 pm

I just flipped on the tv so I’m not sure what they’re doing, but why are they trotting out all these old Reds? This is an all star game, who (outside of Cincinnati) gives a rip about all these old Reds players?

    • djloo27 said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:58 pm

      Trotting?

    • wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 4:59 pm

They announced the winners of the franchise four for each club and ended it with on field introductions for the Reds final four.

  11. Flavor said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:11 pm

surprised Buster didn’t get booed even a little. I guess that grand salami has been wiped from their memory.

  12. Flavor said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:19 pm

Koufax showed up? That’s a pretty rad 4-some

  13. eddacker said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:38 pm

Seeing Koufax throw to Bench will be a memory of this year’s asg I keep.

Trout as a lead off center fielder is an awesome thought.

    • Lisle Ellis said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:49 pm

He wasnt throwing off the bump but damn he looked strong!

      • djloo27 said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:52 pm

Well, he’s pitching on 49 years rest, Lisle…

      • Flavor said, on July 14, 2015 at 6:00 pm

        all star gold, Loo

      • Lisle Ellis said, on July 14, 2015 at 6:24 pm

Oh WoW!?!? … I never thought of it that way! … makes perfect sense.

  14. wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 5:57 pm

A little surprised Greinke is getting two innings after throwing a good amount in the first.

  15. xoot said, on July 14, 2015 at 6:03 pm

Donaldson is really good at throws like that one.

  16. alleykat69 said, on July 14, 2015 at 6:39 pm

Where did they scrounge up these baseball caps at a thrift store? Their putrid..

    • unca_chuck said, on July 14, 2015 at 6:43 pm

They’re!!! Sorry! Gonna be another shitty work week and I’m missing this.

Hope I catch Panik and crawfish but I doubt it

    • pawliekokonuts said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:12 pm

      I’m with you.

  17. alleykat69 said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:03 pm

Leave it to a Dodger to fuck up,Their’s a reason you weren’t picked to the team Clayton.

    • Carstie Clausen said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:09 pm

So far all three runs on Dodger pitching as Bumgarner bends but does not break.

  18. zumiee said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:06 pm

    “Big Game” Kershaw again.

    • wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:17 pm

Hey Zum, find us some nuggets from those Dodger blogs. Are they apologizing to us yet for Kershaw blowing our home field advantage in the World Series?

  19. wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:10 pm

Doesn’t Kershaw have issues in every ASG? Seems like we have seen this before.

  20. pawliekokonuts said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:12 pm

Sciambi and Singleton, on ESPN Radio, giving major props to SF Giants organization: home-grown infield, excellent pitchers drafted, etc. They said the default is typically to talk about the Cardinals, but what about the Giants, they said. Showing us some respect!

    • chipower9 said, on July 15, 2015 at 8:07 am

      That’s great. Recognition from ESPN…wow.

  21. pawliekokonuts said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:17 pm

Lorenzo Cain was just interviewed on the radio side. Sounded gracious, humble, excited. He used to bat cross-handed. Grateful to be there. I liked his personality and demeanor.

  22. xoot said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:21 pm

    Bochy left McCutcheon in. Genius.

  23. alleykat69 said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:22 pm

Explosive gas from DeGrom, dude’s got plenty of giddy-up on his heater, then for the hell of it mixes in a nasty slider..
Alright McCutchen , blast that bomb to cut it to run!!

  24. pawliekokonuts said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:26 pm

    Love me some Cutch!

  25. alleykat69 said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:30 pm

Obviously Britton doesn’t know where any of his throws are going..

  26. pawliekokonuts said, on July 14, 2015 at 7:58 pm

Hmmm. Chris Singleton was drafted by the Giants. Again, talking up the organization, the ESPN Radio crew. #lovefest

  27. xoot said, on July 14, 2015 at 8:22 pm

when the ads are as interesting as some of the innings I guess we’re into super bowl territory. The Chevy truk ads touting steel vs. aluminum are clearly a desperation driven defense to MadBum’s Ford truck ads. bfd.

  28. djloo27 said, on July 14, 2015 at 8:35 pm

Not the first night I wasted…

  29. wilcojoe said, on July 14, 2015 at 8:53 pm

    Pete Rose is shitfaced.

    • alleykat69 said, on July 14, 2015 at 9:00 pm

      Lol WJ,
Yeah Pete being Pete, obnoxious and wasted. Frank Thomas you could tell wanted to clock him..

Some Dodger fans contemplate the All Star game:

    I figured it out
The Dodger All Stars are lulling the rest of the league into a false sense of security.

weren’t all the NL runs last year
    allowed by Cardinals?

Wainwright and Neshek if my memory is right.

So, this POS game’s outcome means the Giants start the WS on the road…

    • chipower9 said, on July 15, 2015 at 8:10 am

Been there, done that. Why not again…

  32. zumiee said, on July 14, 2015 at 11:35 pm

At the Giants game the other day, I saw a real cool photo of six legendary Giants who were given rings at the ring ceremony earlier this season. I took a photo of the photo. It has a little glare from the glass covering the original photo. I don’t know how to post photos in these threads, so I posted it at the top of this thread. It’s real cool the Giants brought those guys together for the event.

    • wilcojoe said, on July 15, 2015 at 7:17 am

Cool pic Zum. Now there is a franchise six pack.

    • alleykat69 said, on July 15, 2015 at 7:33 am

Yeah I have that same picture on my phone Zumie, it’s awesome!
Had the World Series trophys once on another phone that took a shit and couldn’t save it and then the trophys weren’t at the park last time I was their, bummer😢

  33. wilcojoe said, on July 15, 2015 at 7:21 am

I was a little disappointed Chevy didn’t have the Chris Farley World Series guy get a second chance to redeem himself last night during the trophy presentation.

    • zumiee said, on July 15, 2015 at 7:37 am

Yeah, “It’s got technology and stuff” was a classic line.

  34. alleykat69 said, on July 15, 2015 at 7:39 am

Mike Trout 1st player ever to win back to back MVP award.
Congrats considering the legends that have played in so many..

  35. chipower9 said, on July 15, 2015 at 8:12 am

Okay…we have that out of the way. What a sad game. Let’s get back to some meaningful ball.

    A good article on the defending champs below. Some noncontroversial statements that I enjoyed;

“Although he plays in by far the worst home park in the majors for home runs, Belt’s .203 Isolated Power ranks fifth among National League first basemen over the past two seasons.2 Combine that pop with a still-strong .352 OBP and the third-best defense in the majors at his position,3 and the 27-year-old ranks among the best all-around first basemen in the league.”
