I’m not as impressed with the Cubs the same way everyone seems to be. Good core of young guys for sure. I just don’t think this is there year. And they aren’t very good against RH pitching. They strike out like a team-wide helicopter digging into the ground. If Heston keeps the ball down he should have his way with them. Wind should be blowing IN today to further help him.

How we are going to hit Jason Hammel is a more pressing problem. He’s really good. And I’m guessing our bats are a little limp tonight just from all the heat and travel.

Big, big 4 gamer though. If we can’t catch the Dodgers this is the team we need to beat to secure the #2 WC spot……

Shout out to Chris and his son Clayton who are flying out to Chicago from Portland for this series. Chris and Clayton are the two who Cody Ross through that ball to in the arcade back in the 2010 playoffs.

If you want to re-live a little 2010 magic, here’s their Cody Ross Story

My Richmond report from two years ago stated that Joe Panik looked like a serviceable second baseman and should be in the big leagues in as couple of years. What an understatement!

Well Matt Gage was the starter last night for Richmond and apparently was his 4th start in Richmond.  He was moved past San Jose on a faster track apparently and had 1.51 era headed into last night.

Gage gave up two doubles in the first ending Richmond’s 20 inning scoreless streak.  But the second double looked clearly foul down the firstbase line.  We were sitting by the first base bag.  My 16 year old thought it was fair but ball clearly hit foul but ump called it over the bag.

Gage never hit above 90 but looked like the focus was on him keeping as much control on his pitches as possible.  He went full count couple of times in the first and went 5 2/3rd when he put two on in the 6th.  He may have been a little gassed even though his pitch count was not high because it was still in the 90s at night and frickin humid.

Santiago Casilla’s brother Jose came in to pitch.  He started off with two breaking balls high 70s for strikes and we sat there waiting for the outside or high fastball to take care of the third out, but he then hung a third off-speed pitch and it got hammered.  Manager and trainer came out to visit the mound after that atrocious pitch as if to say what the f was that pitch?  Only an idiot or a hurt reliever would throw that shit.

Casilla stayed in the game and got out of the inning.  The Flying Squirrels rebounded with the one bright spot in the lineup with the right fielder Hunter Cole after a double in the bottom of the inning scored on a base hit and beat the throw home when the throw bounced in front of the catcher.  A great throw may have beaten Cole but he had to hold up to make sure the single was not caught.

Cole homered in the 2nd to tie the game and he looks like a Kelbry Thompson type of hitter.  I think someone on the Flap noted the organization is full of these type of hitters and that is the focus.   Seems like Richmond has 6-7 Kelbry Thompson-esque type of hitters. Put that he ball in play and not a lot of power.

According to the usher, Tuesday’s starter Kelvin Marte is the ace of the staff and went 7 shutout innings Tuesday.  He is 9-3 with an era low 2s.  Crick apparently has been demoted to the pen and has had big control issues. He may be a bullpen arm in the big leagues at best.  Beede apparently came out of Saturday’s game with a hip strain.

Kids got got a bunch of autographs and  we talked to Austin Slater, did not realize he was a Stanford guy.  Joe Panik type of 2nd baseman and with the sta er ter we have now, he is going  to have a hard time breaking in with the Giants.  This Hunter Cole may get a shot in left in a couple of years if Kelbry  gets a look there next year and does not pan out.

Other noteworthy conversation was with Ricky Oropesa.  I got him to admit he grew up a Dodger fan in LA and had a couple of words with Steve Kline, who is now the pitching coach.  He signed a ball for my 16 year old maybe 10 years ago at RFK and told him that story and that my son’s favorite Steve Kline moment was watching him on tv get thrown out of a game at ATT and Barry Bonds had to drag him off the field.  He broke up laughing and responded with “good times!”

      Sorry Flav no pics

So it’s the Chi-town hustle. Which team will out-hustle the other? No Panik but maybe the kid will show up as a starter today and will continue to fill in admirably. No wriggle room in Wrigley this evening, i’ll betcha. The Cubbies have done fairly well and that’s a whole bunch andahalf better than what their ever-suffering fans are used to. Well to wall people screaming their lungs out. Maybe even hanging from the ivy.

Giants are used to screaming masses, though and have their sang-froid pretty well down pat. Who knows, they could be cool as cukes. Frankly, i like our chances much better against a good pitcher ~ look what they have done to Hamels, Shields and Opie this season ~ than some no-name rookie callup. Call that weird, but them’s the facts, madam.

  3. unca_chuck said, on August 6, 2015 at 8:59 am

A split would be fine at this point. Anything else is gravy. Nice to see the Cubbies relevant again, though. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this, but my parents and grandparents were from the south side. To further confuse things, my grandfather and father were big Cubs fans. My uncle (one guess what his name was) and his 9 kids were all Sox fans so they caught tons of shit for it. Lucky for me I was born in Cali so I didn’t have the lifelong heartbreak of being a Cubs fan, Just 49 years of frustration of being a Giants fan!

    0 since 88! I love it!

  4. chipower9 said, on August 6, 2015 at 9:25 am

Nice recap GH. Thanks for the update. What’s up with the no pictures?

I will be happy with a split with the Cubbies, but WTF…let’s get greedy and take 3. Cubs have played better on the road this year and are only three games over .500 at home.

So, we are .5 up on the Cubs in the WC and 3.5 back of the Bucs. I would prefer to take that first slot (if we do not win the division), so that the elimination WC game would be in our yard. I would not want to bet on a replay of last year’s game in Pittsburgh.

I am still absolutely confident this team can win the West, but to do so, they have to play damned good ball this month. It will be a challenge.

The bums have a somewhat tough month, but nothing like the Giants.

One day, one game at a time.

    Four in Six. Why Not?
Humm Baby – Let’s Do It Again!

Dealing with 3 boys and making sure no wicked foul ball catches a forehead kept me occupied and never thought about a pic.

We had one wicked line drive come by us in our last inning and my 7 and 9 year old were sitting in front of e in the front row and the 7 year old quickly moved back a row and sat next to his 16 year old brother with a glove:) Thanks Chi….

      • chipower9 said, on August 6, 2015 at 10:19 am

Gotcha. Sounds like you had your priorities in order, GH. Thanks again for the recap. Go Squirrels!

Apropos of nothing, I keep finding things that disappear with all the moves we’ve been making. I found this in my oldest daughter’s softball bag (from 9 years ago).

I originally found this bat (and a Giants bag with a size 7 5/8 Giants pro style hat) under a seat down the RF line after a game around 82-83. We had decided to hang as the stadium emptied out, and the place was nearly empty. A K55 Dale Murphy Louisville slugger. . . .

Great stuff here today, esp. from GH and Chuck. Got this text moments ago from Macdog LIVE at the Phils-Dodgers game:
“Can’t post on Flap. We got a Dom Brown 3-run bomb, 5-3 Phils!”
Then I texted after Agon’s 3-run blast: “Must be the um humidity.”
He replied: “More like Phils pitcher stinks.”

  7. willedav said, on August 6, 2015 at 11:13 am

Mac could be there a while. Phils get 5 in the first, off Greinke no less, and it’s not enough.
Meanwhile Mets now 2 up on Nats, who have 7th best record in NL.
Scoreboard watching is fun, but still long long way to go, lot can happen.

  8. chipower9 said, on August 6, 2015 at 11:28 am

Now 7-6 bums going to the 4th! Greinke with 6 earned. Come on Philly…

  9. alleykat69 said, on August 6, 2015 at 11:32 am

A few players might have limp dicks, but their bats sure have not been when they played Atlanta. Not worried about the team smacking hits around the friendly compounds of Wrigley..
Expecting Posey to keep up his torrid hitting and MVP production tonight!!

    Ángel Pagán
    Nori Aoki
    Matt Duffy
    Hunter Pence
    Brandon Belt
    Brandon Crawford
    Ehire Adrianza
    Héctor Sánchez
    Chris Heston

  12. djloo27 said, on August 6, 2015 at 2:08 pm

The Braves telecast had one of those idiotic in-game dugout interviews last night with Pierzynski.
He came off like an absolutely great guy. Said nice things about his year hitting behind Barry, too…

    • alleykat69 said, on August 6, 2015 at 2:56 pm

Guarantee Tomko wouldn’t have any thing nice to say about Pierzynski!
They had to be seperated in the clubhouse after Tomko wanted to talk to him about hitters in his start that game, and Pierzynski basically told him to fuck off I’m playing cards right now…

    • sandog said, on August 6, 2015 at 3:01 pm

I heard that too! I was on the couch half drifting off to sleep and I woke up thinking whoever they were talking to was the coolest guy of all time. Then they announce they are talking to AJ! Couldn’t believe it.

      Thanks bud

  15. zumiee said, on August 6, 2015 at 2:45 pm

The Dodgers won today, but Greinke did get roughed up, so that’s something positive that came out of the game. It was a weird game; he also had 3 hits, including an HR. That’s quite a bandbox the Phillies play in.

  16. zumiee said, on August 6, 2015 at 2:50 pm

The only problem with Adrianza getting a few hits is that Bochy then has a willingness to start him a lot more. The vast majority of fans would rather see Tomlinson out there. Tomlinson’s hits were clutch, hard-hit balls. We already know what Adrianza basically is, a dinker and a doinker. It would be fun to see what Tomlinson is, or isn’t.

    • chipower9 said, on August 6, 2015 at 2:54 pm

Tomlinson is either Buddy Holly or Clark Kent.

      • djloo27 said, on August 6, 2015 at 3:03 pm

I forgot the funniest moment of the evening in Richmond. Their opponent was the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and their catcher was a new call up for them named Dennis Chang….yes he is Asian American.

Of course the Richmond PA breaks out the “Everybody do the Wang Chung tonight” for every one of his at-bats. Just slightly racist maybe. Only in the South….

  18. unca_chuck said, on August 6, 2015 at 3:44 pm

  19. unca_chuck said, on August 6, 2015 at 3:49 pm

Yeah, I think Jason Christiansen wanted to kill AJ as well.

I like the long lost Hansen brothers angle for Tomlinson. Someone brought up Slapshot the other day, didn’t they?

    • alleykat69 said, on August 6, 2015 at 6:04 pm

      Yeah that was me Chuck,,
Tomlinson could be the 4th brother, the shrimp one but the feisty little prick!

62 pitches in 2 innings for Heston and down 5 zip yikes.. Long night for the pen tonight…

    • Carstie Clausen said, on August 6, 2015 at 6:28 pm

Alley. Heston’s 2-inning meltdown could not have come at a worse time, figuring as our newest acquisition went out to take a Leake. Bullpen stress tonight and who the fuck replaces Leake even for one start ~ if it is that. Offense is gonna need to wake up.

      • alleykat69 said, on August 6, 2015 at 7:49 pm

Stix,,There going with Voglesong tomorrow, he’s their yo-yo starter. Hope it’s just the 1 missed start for Leake, and no major leaking that the pitching staff can’t afford right now..

  22. ewisco said, on August 6, 2015 at 6:12 pm

Also agree with whoever above who noted that, with a couple hits, bochy will stick with ehire over kt. A shame really. Kt looks like he has a bigger upside and has given no reason to lose the competition to 000.

  23. ewisco said, on August 6, 2015 at 6:23 pm

  25. Carstie Clausen said, on August 6, 2015 at 6:26 pm

Just got back in the house after some intense and somewhat hot work with the #2 spade and the wheelbarrow. Saw that five-zip score and almost wilted. Then noticed Pence had doubled. Then we got the first two back when the pitch got Belted. Had a feeling he would make some noise in Wrigley.

  26. Carstie Clausen said, on August 6, 2015 at 6:44 pm

Unless Heston is a bad bunter and could not be counted on to lay down a decent sacrifice and/or he was gassed at 80+ pitches, Bochy gambled and failed by PHing Blanco who did not get the job done.

    • alleykat69 said, on August 6, 2015 at 7:12 pm

Stix ,Heston was both gassed and all over the place with his pitches.
It was the right move PHfor him I feel.
Blanco just a bad AB 2-0 make it your pitch not the pitchers to swing at. Se with Crazy Horse, only Aoki had a epic AB after the 2 walks to start off the inning..

      • Carstie Clausen said, on August 6, 2015 at 7:22 pm

Thanx for the info, Kat. Neither video nor radio here so all i got to go by is the so-so Yahoo coverage. Beats trying to tune in Cubbies radio from 600 miles away. That was my old M.O. before the net.

      • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 7:40 am

Stix – if you have the net, then you should subscribe to MLB’s Lame Day…where you get the radio feed for all games. It only costs like $20 for the entire season.

  27. alleykat69 said, on August 6, 2015 at 6:54 pm

2 shitty AB’s by Blanco& Pagan cost runs..
Hammel is pissed off too, walking the 1st 2 batters and getting yanked up 5-2 and can’t get a win, he defintely was giving the snake eye to Joe (Spencer Tracy) Maddon..

I think the Flap needs to chip in and get you at least a Short wave radio like the one they used in the movie “Frequency”, you may not get Giants or Cubs on it, but it will work for 1969 Mets vs Orioles W/S highlights😀

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 7:43 am

As I suggested earlier, Stix should purchase MLB’s Lame Day (or whatever it is called) that provide radio feed to all games via the Net. It only cost like $20 for the entire season and includes all post-season games.

That about sums up the day. Good try but not good enough, just like the Phils. Greinke obviously didn’t have his ‘A’ game — on the mound anyway — but it was still better than Buchanan’s AAA game. And I missed Greinke’s bomb and bat flip while getting an Italian sausage. At least the Phils kept phighting, and had 1st & 3rd with 1 out in the 9th. Hoping they’d get two shots at a tie or even a walk-off, instead Dom Brown foul-lines out into a DP to Gonzalez, who for whatever reason didn’t move off 1st when the ball was pitched.

Saw some Bums fans there, but they got nothin’ on numbers or noise when it comes Giants fans visiting Philly.

Baggs is virtually calling out Bochy on his coddling of the collapsing Pagan. Best to check out his column and read it for yourself. Pagan’s knees hafta be a total mess and have severiously impacted his performance. WHY BB15 retains him at leadoff and centerfield seems to be a mystery to all. Dude needs the 15-day at the least and time to either shake the waver wire to see what’s available or to call Sacville and summon up Ryan Lollis. At least at this point he would play a decent CF and would likely snap more singles than our wounded Angel.

Staying in old town Montreal – nice cool weather. Tried a sampler of local Quebec brews at a pub down here near the waterfront — eh, ok. NorCal brews better, easily. Sat in on a young band’s session at a beer bar down the street last night till 1 am; not bad– did everything from CCR covers to Bruno Mars to the Animals. Local ladies around here are as predicted, lots of Tall, lithe sophisticated types. Nice dinner last night of walleye filet — stix surely knows what that fish is. Very nice, never had that before. Out into the neighborhoods today. See the Giants hanging in– tough trip as expected. Belt getting his dinger swing in order? How can Leake already be hurt? WTF?..

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 7:52 am

CCR to Bruno Mars to the Animals…that is one hell of a spread…

My ex was born in Wisconsin (Chippewa Falls…home of Leininkugels…or “squaw piss” as some of the locals called it). I remember the Friday night fish frys well. The walleye was phenominal. The other thing that was the bomb back there was beer-battered cheeese curds. Heart attack on a platter, but you will die with a smile on your face.

Here is Baggs’s piece that contains the bit about Pagan. Baggs is simply saying what damned near every Flapper has been saying for a loooong time. Pagan needs to sit until he is healthy (but ONLY after he gets into one more game).

Baggarly’s getting some revenge on Angel. Remember last year, after Baggarly reported a fight in the clubhouse, Pagan (who was on the DL at the time, I believe) led the team boycott of Baggs. Whenever Baggarly was around to do his Comcast beat-reporter job, the players scattered and refused to talk. He got fired over that, I believe, although the transaction occurred quietly during the winter without public explanation.

Also, reading that piece I wondered about half way through–does any other Giants baseball writer pry so much into player psychology? Most of them are afraid to offend.

  49. Carstie Clausen said, on August 7, 2015 at 10:15 am

Baggs is a bit refreshing in that regard. West Coasters are almost as bad as Midwesterners when it comes to Minnesota niceism. Take a gander at those scrummers in places like Bahhstin, Noo Yawk and Philly ~ even in Chicago to a degree. Relentless at telling it as they see it. Hell, even on this blog i’ve caught heat for lighting into Bochy from time to time. His #1 fault and his #1 attribute are one and the same ~ loyalty and loyalty to a fault. Maybe Sabevans need to go over his head and insist on Pagan hitting the DL ~ as its beyond obvious he can no longer hit at the ML level ~ or even play a half-decent centerfield.

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 10:34 am

Good synopis on Bochy’s #1 fault and attribute, Stix. I won’t argue there. Only other thing I will add that bugs me about Boch (and I have said I respect him, think he is the best, and would never want anyone else at the helm) is that he seems to, at times, wait a batter or two too long before removing a starter. I know this is a fine line, but that fine line has, on occasion, led to a few runs that makes one wonder if the runs would not have scored had Bochy gone to the pen earlier.

      • Carstie Clausen said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:20 pm

Agreed on pulling the starter when he starts getting toasty. What the team needs for sure, and i’ve argued it for years now is an old-fashioned FIREMAN; a guy who can come into heavy, heavy traffic and put a total damper on the production. Guy would need more gas than a Japanese supertanker and an attitude that allows for no latitude. Is there such a guy in the system? If not, those scouts and evaluators gotta get busy. Some would pick the dude for the closer role. However, if you squelch say, three runs in the 6th inning you might not even need a closer in the 9th.

The Kid, aka Clark Kent, aka Buddy Holly, gets his second start…

    1. Angel Pagan (S) CF
    2. Kelby Tomlinson (R) 2B
    3. Matt Duffy (R) 3B
    4. Buster Posey (R) C
    5. Hunter Pence (R) RF
    6. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
    7. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
    8. Justin Maxwell (R) LF
    9. Ryan Vogelsong (R) P (7-7, 4.16 ERA)

And Pagan cracks 100! Hey Kevin – Pay Up Suckah! 😛

NOW they can sit Pagan, or send his ass to the DL…

      Prediction: Pagan homers today…

      • alleykat69 said, on August 7, 2015 at 11:22 am

I’ll take the prediction that he won’t Loo!!

      • Lisle Ellis said, on August 7, 2015 at 11:39 am

Speaking of predictions … Some of you may remember my crystal ball rant during the All Star break …

I began to write a rebuttal of that the other day … It went something like this …

Ready to run the gauntlet Flappers? Here we go into the infernal inferno, the fiery pit of hell, the belly of the beast to either feast or be devoured … 26 games in 28 games and all against the best of the best: 7 with Cubs, 6 with Cards, 4 each with Pirates and Nats, 3 with LA and 2 with Astros … Whew, I suppose we are gonna find out who we truly are and what we are made of.

In that regard, I have good news and bad. The good news is my ASB prediction for us face planting against all the crappy teams was absolutely wrong. The bad news is I predicted we would “run the table” against the powerhouses … hmm, not off to a good start with that prediction … but it is only one game.

I’m gonna stick my scrawny neck out and go along with Loo that Pagan homers today … and I’ll up the ante and say it’s gonna be a grand salamis … how ’bout dat!?

    • alleykat69 said, on August 7, 2015 at 11:26 am

Bochy must know about the number of games at 100 Chi..
He’s helping you out to collect your bet with Kevin, cause he shouldn’t be playing him otherwise..

      • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:04 pm

        😛

  51. zumiee said, on August 7, 2015 at 11:45 am

Yeah, the Pagan thing has become a big issue. They need to shut him down. We can’t have Grandpa Walton playing the outfield and trying to hit major league pitching. It’s painful watching him play on one leg. Have some mercy on the guy, Sabean/Evans/Bochy.

  52. zumiee said, on August 7, 2015 at 11:49 am

Loo, I’d like to believe Pagan could hit an HR, but there’s practically no lower body in his swing these days, so it doesn’t seem possible to me. He’d have to catch a pitch perfectly on the inside part of the plate, and yank one barely over the wall, just inside the foul pole in right, or off the foul pole. Maybe possible.

  53. unca_chuck said, on August 7, 2015 at 11:59 am

I mean her Mendocino bean-o By where some bugs had made it red.

Zappa for President! Hey, he wouldn’t have been any worse than the clowns who debated last night.

  54. dirtnrocksnomo said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:12 pm

I haven’t been able to keep up with the club lately. Has something happened to Aoki with his foot or something? I saw that he was pulled last night and Baggs comments on Pagan etc.

As far as Bochy sticking with the vets that is just who he is and how he’s gonna play it. I think one of the benefits is that guys like Rowand and Pagan can’t say they didn’t get a fair shot when playing time evaporates. One way that Bochy really has changed is his handling of young players. His comments on Tomlinson have been nothing but encouragement as opposed to comments he’s made in the past about a certain goofy first baseman that will go unnamed. If you spelled it B E A T you’d only be off by one letter.

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:25 pm

Not that I am aware, Dirt (re: Aoki). While they are few and far between, that was just one of those questionable moves by Bochy…

      Trade Belt!

  55. Carstie Clausen said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:13 pm

Not too pumped on either the composition nor the arrangement of today’s lineup. First up, Pagan belongs on the DL, not leading off and playing centerfield. Giveaway. Then following that single switch hitter there are four RH bats, then two lefty swingers, then two more righties. I’d like to see em mixed up a bit more. Lester is no rookie. Every weapon possible should be used against him.

This is another of those occasions where Voggie hasta come through. Not too confident about Cain, though Peavy might be okay. Bummer with Leake to the DL. Wondering who the callup will be? Osich would be the logical one.

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:27 pm

You are right…Lester is a pro, but I don’t see where juggling the Leftie-Righy thing is going to buy us much. Outside of Pagan being in the line-up, I am okay with it, along with tossing the Silver Hammer a bone at the expense of an Aoki-san start.

  56. zumiee said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:42 pm

The Niners released Aldon Smith. What an off-season for the Niners.

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 12:56 pm

I don’t care how damned talented he is, nor how badly the Niners may need him…it was, IMO, the right move. Dude needs to grow the fuck up and act like an adult.

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 1:20 pm

And the Number One thing to do beofre a game in SF…

Buy Chi a beer for the bet you lost… 😛

  60. Macdog said, on August 7, 2015 at 1:47 pm

Hey, Pagan hit one to the warning track. He’s getting closer.

  61. Carstie Clausen said, on August 7, 2015 at 1:49 pm

With Pagan in his current state at leadoff we have a limp, lame, liability of a lineup.

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:24 pm

I dunno, Stix. Pagan certainly does no favors for the top of the order, but to say with him in there, we have a limp, lame, liability of a line-up is, IMO, not true.

After 108 games offensively they rank:

      All of baseball:
      Avg – 3, OPB – 5, SLG – 8, OPS – 6

      NL:
      Avg – 2, OPB – 2, SLG – 3, OPS – 3

Posey, Duffy and Panik in top 10 in NL in BA.

I think we all agree that Pagan needs to sit, but outside of that, you really have to be impressed with our boys’ offensive prowess.

Shit, Craw is going to end up with 20-plus HRs and close to 100 RBIs.

      • Carstie Clausen said, on August 7, 2015 at 4:11 pm

DL Pagan and return of Panik will massively change the L.U., particularly if SF goes out and gets a competent outfielder who can at least fill in at CF.

  62. chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:34 pm

Fuck…I don’t like this move…going ot Affeldt. I would rather see Lopez come in to face the lefties…

  63. chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:39 pm

I like the kid Tomlinson, but damn, we need Panik back soon!

    • Macdog said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:43 pm

As I told Loo recently, his loss in the lineup and now in the field is a killer, he’s that valuable.

  64. zumiee said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:40 pm

I hope this isn’t one of those things where the Giants get their a## kicked all weekend.

  65. Macdog said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:41 pm

Like Bour in Miami, apparently Schwarber is someone the Giants have no clue how to get out.

As for Affeldt: First a 2-run single, and now he can’t even pick off the guy.

    • chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:54 pm

From what I heard, it sounded like it was more Belt’s inability to get the ball out of his glove. Trade Belt!

  66. sandog said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:52 pm

Can someone re-post that Stooges track?

  67. Macdog said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:53 pm

Better hope Pirates can sweep the Bums, ’cause I’m not sure what game the Giants are winning this weekend.

  68. chipower9 said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:56 pm

    Pfffttt…

Fuck this. I am out…heading home and then off to see some live music (one of my favorite bands…The Devil Makes Three) tonight.

Don’t get your daubers down. Wash this shit off and go get ’em tomorrow.

Put your rally caps on Flap Universe…

  69. Macdog said, on August 7, 2015 at 2:56 pm

From Baggs: David Ross loops a single that’s caught by a lot of center fielders. Angel Pagan can’t even get close enough to dive.

  70. Macdog said, on August 7, 2015 at 3:51 pm

Giants can’t get a fucking break in this one.

    • Lisle Ellis said, on August 7, 2015 at 4:02 pm

The way they are playing, not sure they deserve one … SP sucks, BP sucks, hitting mostly sucks … and the starting lineup (Pagan starting over Aoki) sucks.

  71. Carstie Clausen said, on August 7, 2015 at 4:07 pm

Is Bochy slipping? Affeld definitely is no fireman and Petit is not either. Pagan needs a 15 day or maybe even a 30 (if there was one). Affeldt is toast. Petit is okay as a longman. Osich appears to have what it takes to be the FIREMAN. Giants definitely need one, whether BB15 understands that or not. Couple teams just pulled off a waver wire deal of some significance. Sabevans need to get on the horn and scrape up an outfielder who is at least basically competent.

It is clear now that the loss of Leake’s services have cost at least one game. Bummer, that. Now there is a lot of catch-up to do. Hopefully the Bucs can settle the LaBumbos hash tonight and SF can hang on in the West. Next couple of games become vital.

    • pawliekokonuts said, on August 7, 2015 at 5:57 pm

Well, I’m not convinced we need ANOTHER outfielder, just different ones starting. I’m fine with Aoki, Pence, Blanco has the default until it needs a refresh. I am most worried about the pitching. All of it.

  72. eddacker said, on August 7, 2015 at 4:29 pm

Ouch, waa!, sniffle, wtf?? Fortuna spinneth downward and the whole world hates us.
I feel a weekend debauch coming on. The only thing to kill this feeling.
    No game without pain.

    Get’em tomorrow.
    Go Giants!

  73. unca_chuck said, on August 7, 2015 at 4:32 pm

Shit, turned on the TV to see when the game was on and I see the Cubbies celebrating their victory. Leake to the DL and Pagan still leadoff and scuffling. Is there something going on with Aoki?

    • Lisle Ellis said, on August 7, 2015 at 4:40 pm

Yeah, there is something going on with Aoki … he is hitting well … another dinger today and a single … But we gotta have Pagan in the lineup … Go figure.

  74. Flavor said, on August 7, 2015 at 4:38 pm

Missed almost the entire gm. But I have a question. Did Petit throw a ball right down Broadway to Soler with idiot hitter Lester on deck? If so, that was a colossal brain fart.

I know that numbers have a way of flattening out (chime in, James), but — whew — a team that looked so good a week ago (less) now looks so weak. Different opponents, true. But c’mon.
