Is Leake a Hundred Percenter?
You know, one of those players who’s only good to go if he’s 100%? Because something is not adding up here. The Giants put Leake on the DL on August 7th with Bochy saying that “if it were late September, he might have been able to push through the injury.” That was 10 days ago and he was scheduled to pitch today. Now we find out he’s being pushed back again?
Was there a setback no one is talking about? Are Leake and the Giants not on the same page? Word last night was that he can pitch fine but that he’s at 65% and he has trouble getting off the mound to field the ball. Why would the Giants say he’s scheduled to start if he can’t field his position?
I couldn’t trust the Giants medicos less when it comes to diagnosing an injury so maybe this is just another case of them bungling a case. Or maybe Mike Leake is A Hundred Percenter. Now we trot out the bedraggled Voggy again and hope he can gut out another good start.
At this point, I think I’d rather have a pitcher go out there who I know has the guts to be out there than a guy who, frankly, I’m not certain wants to be out there……
Adrianza? Isn’t Leake available to PH?
I was hoping for Heston.
Took a break to cook/eat dinner. Looking at the change in fortune I should do that more often. The mrs points out there’s not much energy in the stadium.
Reynolds just got ” Reynolds Wrapped” by Romo..
Yes he was definitely tin-foiled.
Krukow on Romo: “He Miguel-Cabreraed him.”
I thought that was a great line.
Casilla in the 9th? Romo looks devastating. Decisions decisions.
Romo!
The A’s suck.
Cishek and Neshek might be the same person.
And Obednego.
beat me to it….plus I’d have to look it up
Won’t be Romo , he was too good.
So the Bocher will start with Lopez to face a lefty, then will need to drink more cause Casilla will come in..
Let’s dip Biscotty into our Peet’s coffee cup of victory.
Bud Light and Valium time…
The GoLytely prep should work great now.
That’s an epic fail for a LOOGY.
yeah……hope it does not haunt us……
Not tonite!
Biscotti pastried.
Nice K, now turn two.
Casilla has the hardest time getting swing thru strikes anymore. It takes massive effort.
Felix had the same problem when he was going downhill…
2002 WSeries memory game 6 — Spezio off Felix. No bueno…
Ballgame! HUGE WIN!
Game!
Great fuckin’ win! No-hit ’em last 6…
Big win, Great pitching from Vogs, and the pen!!
Get one tomorrow and this trip gets off to a great start !!
Good to get a win, truly, but truly it seemed like hard, hard work on a long, long night at the office. We’ll take it. Yes, we will.
Given that lineup and Vogey gutting it out for 6 after a longish start, that’s a helluva win. Maybe the best this year.
Vogelstrong with two big consecutive starts. Warrior. Lynn is 9-8, and so is Vogey. Go figure.
Gotta keep Vogs in the rotation now. He’s earned it.
When the Weasel returns, Cain’s the odd man out…
Maybe Loo, Maybe not,
Biggest start of Cain’s season tomorrow. If he pitches well, Bochy with his loyalty will keep him in the rotation. He Bombs, and he’s out for sure..
Pence to the 15 day DL, and the hits keep on coming..
Practically everyone on the blog not long ago had given up on Vogie (i was regrettably among them, but maybe somewhat toned down) and now he stands one victory away from double figures in wins. Like that old Energizer Bunny, he just keeps on keeping on. Huge win. Pirates are having a tough time with one NLW team, so if Cain can get his act together against the crippled and maimed Cardinals’ offense maybe OUR crips can do some damage vs. Pittsburgh pitching. But tomorrow’s game is now the most important one.
Going into the roadie i was HOPING the Giants would be able to take three of the 7 games. Two more and we got that. A winning trip vs the two best records in the NL could happen and if they somehow pull it off the postseason looks like a possibility no matter how battered and broken the roster may be. Well we have won 6 of our last eight.
Pence to the DL with strAined oblique.
Jesus. This season has had 4 years worth of injuries.
Vogey is on the verge of joining the 10 win club! I’m the biggest Vogey supporter around this place and I never saw that one coming.
They have to make a deal. What’s up with Melky these days?
he and Pablo have a constant tweet message feed going about how much they hate the nasty Giants
a’s Venditte pitches LH to AGon and gets him to pop up, then switches RH to throw to what’s his name, the bums LF Van Slyke? And V hangs one, but gets the RH out out. Gray and Venditte–that’s the a’s
in EFF able a’s. eff em
uh oh, the a’s are coming back, against a weak la bullpen and in front of a sold out house full of blue-clad fans
Nice win…
Ray Fosse is awful. He’s just fortunate that Jerry Remy is a broadcaster, keeping Fosse from being the worst.
Yep, listening to Fosse gives me a verbal concussion…
This is me listening to Ray Fosse:

Ending game SF outfield: Lollis, Blanco and Maxwell. Seriously, who the F is Lollis? I don’t know how they’re winning any games…
Lollis? He is he Hologram. Flav can fill ya in with the details.
The Butler does it! A’s win!
Dodgers lose. A’s with the walk-off hit. Puig’s throw home was hilarious. It looked like a Ray Guy punt.
Cue the Doghair blog posts, zum…
It was Van Slyke. Puig left game earlier with right hammy tightness.
Bochy says Pence out for two weeks with a minor oblique strain. So, he’ll be back around Sept 20…
Some A’s just shoved a “pie” in Butler’s face during the post-game interview. I’m glad the Giants don’t do that. Sheesh, just let the guy enjoy his moment on TV.
And Cubs just lost, so a good night all around.
I’ll give Bochy some credit for PHing the Bum, but not a lot. Who’s better at hitting, Bum or Adrianza? And, Adrianza could come in afterwards for defense, which is what happened. Many of us here have advocated Bum as PHer many times over. The only hesitation I’d have for using him as PHer more often with all these injuries to position guys would be risking an oblique on a swing. Otherwise, let him hit…
Or pulling a hammy trying to leg it out…
I was telling the gang earlier that on Monday night I was having this exact discussion with some friends at the brewery, and I was saying no way Bochy PHs Bum…too big a risk. I had crow for dinner last night. He PHs, gets a knock, and then scores the insurance run on two walks and a hit batsman (Belt taking one for the team). Not sure I would make a regular habit of it…
Dodger fans, singing some blues tonight:
Cardinals and Giants playing like two playoff teams.
And then there’s this team.

maybe each of us gets the team they deserve

was told by someone in here that the Giants weren’t good lolol
by doscinco on Aug 18, 2015 | 11:00 PM up reply
oh the giants’ll sneak in in the last week or 2, put us in 2nd long enough to secure 1st, and then take it all again
by Grumpa81 on Aug 18, 2015 | 11:02 PM up reply
Awesome, zum.
Always amusing…
Absolutely love it…especially the one about “maybe each of us gets the team we deserve.” I dig that…there are a lot of long-suffering, but loyal Giants fans on this blog…so hell yes we deserve the three in five that our boys have given us!
Four in Six? Why Not?!
Humm Baby – Let’s Do It Again!
A’s have been playing like soggy dog chow since Beane gave up on the season.
Would love to see them sweep the Doghairs…
Watching Dodgers-A’s highlights, how the hell did Kershaw not get tossed from the game?
RU talking about when Kershaw tried to quick-pitch the A’s batter as he tried to settle back into the box after the ump had called time? I dunno. Kershaw didn’t seem to object too much to the ump stopping him from quick pitching. And, the ump was right, I think. But, then the ump looked like a hot head spoiling for a fight with Kershaw with a faked show of being insulted, like a lot of these d-bag umps do that think fans care one whit about what they think or how they might feel “shown up”…
As for Leake and his hammy, I don’t know this guy at all, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. If he’s smart, he’ll ignore the Giants medicos if they tell him he’s ready, and wait a bit longer. Hammy strains are notorious for taking a while to heal. You can’t risk coming back too early — see Pence and coming back from the broken forearm. Too early and Leake could re-strain and be out for the season, making the trade worthless if he doesn’t sign…
Great point, snarkk. Leake could be huge for us down the stretch. They need to make sure he is 110% before he comes back.
Bring up Mac Williamson for Pence, maybe the dude can whack a few outta the yard…
Reviewing Williamson’s stats, he has pretty much lost his power-stroke this season. However, his OBP is pretty okay and he does get him some XBH’s and the odd dinger.
Nice piece from Steward on VogelSTRONG and his synopsis on the Giants current state (with all the injuries). Love the attitude. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!??.
I agree absolutely with most…if Cain falters tonight…Vogey is back in the rotation.
