A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Death By GreinkShaw…

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 1, 2015

Not really sure what to say about that game except to honor those of you who stayed up to watch it.

Krukow said something interesting yesterday on KNBR. When asked about Agent 000 he said “Look, he’s not a major leaguer.” That’s a pretty blunt statement in public about a guy who has been a major leaguer for so much of the season. And look, he’s right. I’m going to try to remember that the next time 000 screws something up. It’s not his fault he’s on the team.

Somehow they have to win the next to games. Maybe *have to* is overstating it. But the calendar is dusty and worn. There are only so many games left in 2015……..

Can the Giants finally break through? Seems like forever since they scored a damned run.

  2. James said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:28 pm

Belt has grounded into 2 DPs . . . same deal.

  3. chipower9 said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:28 pm

        Full Metal Jacket.

The other option is to cup your hand behind her head as the pounding gets you close to the head board. FMJ is also famous for its “reach around” line. Kubrick used very blunt instruments in most of his movies.

  6. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:37 pm

    Wow. lucky fuck.

  7. blade3colorado said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:37 pm

Giants can’t buy a Fucking hit with 2 out and RISP!

  12. snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:40 pm

He may do well, but I don’t get this with Huddy coming in now. This is not his deal. One run down and we’re experimenting?…

    • snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:46 pm

      So much for that experiment…

  13. blade3colorado said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:43 pm

Hudson?* I have a feeling this has disaster written all over it.

*Right after I wrote this, Gonzales got his double.

  14. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:44 pm

blehhhhhhhh. Hit this weasel. Fuck Ethier.

  15. snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:44 pm

So, we bring Huddy in to get a Dodger to third with one out?
Excuse me, but that was an absolute, total bullshit move…

  16. alleykat69 said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:45 pm

So much for Huddy being a reliever, glad they pulled him before he gave up a bomb..

  17. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:47 pm

Yeah. odd timing. What the fuck?

  18. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:49 pm

Unreal strike zone. More like the twilight zone.

  19. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:51 pm

    Now we need the bomberooski…..

  20. alleykat69 said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:52 pm

How about the old #1.Give him the Heater Ricky!

  21. djloo27 said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:52 pm

    Top nine.
    Season on the line?

  22. snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:53 pm

Seriously. I’d like to know why Huddy comes in there. It’s absolute nonsense. Huddy might have a handful of career appearances in relief. Yet, they put him in there in a clutch spot late in a near must-win game? He gags, THEN they bring in Strickland to hopefully clean up the mess, which he luckily does. Why not Strickland from the get go in the 8th? Very fortunate that no damage done…

  23. blade3colorado said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:53 pm

Disaster averted. Man AK, when you said, “So much for Huddy being a reliever, glad they pulled him before he gave up a bomb..” – I was thinking OH OH, they brought in Strickland and was thinking we were double fucked. Sort of like this scene in The Princess Bride . . .

  24. djloo27 said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:54 pm

    Is Crawford available to PH?

  25. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:57 pm

  26. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:58 pm

  27. djloo27 said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:58 pm

6 back in the LC. Grim.

  28. unca_chuck said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:59 pm

No more skull fucking. We’re the skull fuckees.

And they’re playing that annoying as fuck song.

  29. snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 9:59 pm

Giants just do not have the LU ammo to get anything done, against a team that doesn’t impress much at all, after you get past Grienke and Kershaw…

  30. alleykat69 said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:00 pm

Gonna do some extra drinking right now. Fuck this is depressing watching those smug Botox fans celebrating .,

  31. Carstie Clausen said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:01 pm

    Well gang…

  32. xoot said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:01 pm

I’m not really digging these two hard fought post season intensity games. Too many missed opps. Plunk some dodger asshole tomorrow, just for the hell of it. juju says Crawford’s deep bruise will heal faster then.

  33. zumiee said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:01 pm

Giants have a hard time squaring anything up. Pitches right down the middle aren’t being squared up.

  34. snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:02 pm

    It ain’t over.
But if LA takes the division, they aren’t getting past the NLDS…

  35. snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:06 pm

To me, there is no good reason why the Giants can’t weather the storm of injuries like the Cards, who have had their fair share of injuries, but have prospered nonetheless. Giants are above the Cards in total team revenues, they have the monetary wherewithal to stay strong during starters’ health droughts. Giants can’t continue to have totally marginal players like Arias and Maxwell and 000 populate the bench….

    • James said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:13 pm

The Cardinals could have the Giants bench and still be pretty much where they are, Snarkk. They don’t give up runs.

      • snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:15 pm

Agreed the Cards have objectively better starting pitching. That’s obvious. The bench players are better…

      • James said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:21 pm

It’s far better starting pitching. 60 percent of our starters innings have been thrown by well below average pitchers.

  36. zumiee said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:09 pm

The Dodgers rely on HRs. They don’t have a leadoff hitter. I don’t see them getting past the Cards. The Dodgers will struggle bigtime to score in the playoffs.

  37. eddacker said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:12 pm

We are one injury too much and one bench bat too few on this and many other nights. Good nite.

  38. zumiee said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:17 pm

I wonder if Greinke will get that 9 mile wide strikezone in the playoffs.

  39. djloo27 said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:25 pm

If they can pull one out tomorrow against Ker-plop and get away 5 out with a little momentum, it’s still very do-able…

  40. Bozo said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:25 pm

Going back to what Blade said earlier-
    “Pfffttt!”

    • eddacker said, on September 2, 2015 at 4:41 am

was that the other shoe I just heard dropping?

  41. alleykat69 said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:31 pm

Jesus,Peavy was going total ballistic on Winters before he was ejected,.
Think he was calling out Winters momma in Alabamaish words.
That, are he was yelling at Puig, and the ump just got in his way..

  42. mrsprtdude said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:32 pm

Since 3rd yesterday….20 innings. 2 runs. Nuff said.
Tonight LA’s dinkers fell in, ours didn’t. We didn’t hit one ball hard all game. Sooo annoying to watch.

  43. snarkk said, on September 1, 2015 at 10:38 pm

OOO hitting .162 now since AS break. Essentially, regular, starting pitchers are outhitting him.
Not his fault, it’s management’s fault that he’s being relied on to contribute to a pennant race…

  44. willedav said, on September 2, 2015 at 7:47 am

Unfortunate L for Bum there. Part of Giants inability to score has been vs. LA much maligned pen. Greinke is tough…what would you offer him as an FA?

I can see Bochy moving guys around and making some of the moves he has last 2 games, but too often they just haven’t worked out, while Mattingly’s did, as in the great play by the kid 2b last night and leaving Pederson in the LU while dropping him to 9 spot. Giants players just have come up short.

  45. zumiee said, on September 2, 2015 at 7:56 am

Dave Zirin on MSNBC this morning, joking about the terrible courtroom sketches of Brady: “Tom Brady is so handsome and successful, but his soul is rotted out, and this can only be seen in the courtroom sketches.”

    • Flavor said, on September 2, 2015 at 7:59 am

      that’s hilarious. And there’s a new thread.

  46. unca_chuck said, on September 2, 2015 at 4:04 pm

I thought they had a shot at the beginning of the year. This was based of course on Cain coming through and McGiggles being a force at 3rd. Given the injuries and the many 3rd stringers being called up, it’s fairly amazing they are as close as they are. I mean, really, who has the depth to bring up 3rd and 4th string guys and have them perform? Except for the Cards, that is.

Losing guys like Pence for most of his season, Panik for an extended time, Susac, Tomlinson, Heston, Duffy, and even the DFAed Maxwell, and bit players like Osich were guys no one had heard of who have done some good to great things. Byrd has been outstanding, and Leake seems to be a solid addition. The one thing a lot of us worried about was the relievers. yeah, this has been a problem. Mainly brought about by the starters not getting deep. But tried-and-true as this may seem to be, it has won 3 in 5.
