KC in 6

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 27, 2015

I almost said KC in 5 but decided to give myself some leeway. Predictions are stupid. What’s yours? And you’re not allowed to predict rain. Or this:

Very glad to hear that things are going as well as could be possibly expected, Twin. Good to see you posting as well. How ’bout them Niners?

Power arms starting pitching Mets have it KC doesn’t.. More rest coming in as well. Amazing Mets in 6👍

    LMAO at the video…gold.

    Metropolitans in Six.

After the series, Kansas City outlaws the color orange inside the city limits.

    Go National League/Senior Circuit!

Wilco – glad to hear you weathered the storms. And yes, I do “faintly” remember those lingering California rains. What I would give for a couple of days of those now…

  6. chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 9:27 am

Paul and Blade – thanks for the clarification and update on the Vietnamese ladies, etc. I am jealous as hell, but really, I have a wonderful life, so I cannot complain. Life is good…enjoy, fellas. Looking forward to more picts.

Prediction? Let me gaze into my crystal ball, ah yes, I see.
In 2016 the Giants will win it all.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/yoenis-cespedes-and-the-mike-trout-treatment/ Somewhat interesting article. If journalists can generate analysis like this, just imagine what the teams’ brain trusts develop. I would love to see the scouting reports prepared for tonight’s game. Remember game 7 last year, 9th inning I believe–how Wotus positioned Perez near the line and in, and Juan easily nabbed Aoki’s slap into LF?

    • unca_chuck said, on October 27, 2015 at 11:23 am

The old pitch ’em away play ’em away deal.

      • xoot said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:05 pm

A lot of teams played Aoki that way in 2015.

Lmao at the video. My seven year old loves the Rocky films. For the last couple of years he has said he wants to be a boxer when he grows up. I could just taking him to a boxing gym in Houstons fourth ward. His skinny Caucasian , strawberry blonde haired self walking thru those doors. Now that would be funny.

    • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 11:04 am

If it happens, you must get pictures and share them!

  11. chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 11:09 am

Zumiee – or other Flappers…has anyone seen the current Richard Thompson Electric Trio live? They are coming to Sacramento and I am thinking of scoring tix. Saw a recent video of them doing a cover of Cream’s White Room…pretty damned spectacular…

    • unca_chuck said, on October 27, 2015 at 11:35 am

Never seen them, but i did catch this guy in Auburn a few years back . . .

      • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 11:44 am

Mad Bum’s brother on bass??? :-p

I saw Thackery at a blues festival in Eureka Springs, Arkansas a number of years ago. Damned good show.

      • unca_chuck said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:42 pm

Heh heh! Yeah, saw that. I’m hoping he shows up at one of the blues festivals around here in the near future.

    • Bozo said, on October 27, 2015 at 1:32 pm

Haven’t seen the trio, but I just don’t think you can go wrong with a Richard Thompson show.

      • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 3:05 pm

Agreed. I am definitely scoring tix.

  12. Macdog said, on October 27, 2015 at 11:25 am

Just read this: Mets-Royals is the first-ever World Series between two expansion teams.

    • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 11:45 am

Yep…heard this mentioned on KNBR the other day…neither team existed when the World Series came into being.

    • djloo27 said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:07 pm

Jesus, they’ve been around for about 100 years between ’em.

    • djloo27 said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:15 pm

This is also the first World Series where a manager’s initials (N.Y.) are the same as the city of the opposing team…

      • unca_chuck said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:44 pm

        Are you sure about that?

      • djloo27 said, on October 27, 2015 at 3:06 pm

I made it up, Chuck, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some TV moron actually says it tonight…

  13. Katharine Harding said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:00 pm

Andrés Torres is going to be live chatting with fans during every World Series 2015 game. If you want insider Mets knowledge from a WS Champ, you can talk to him (for free) in an app called GameOn.

  14. willedav said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:10 pm

According to cbs site, if game got rained out there would be no travel off day and teams would play 5 days in a row. Wow that would sure change pitching match ups, but I guess Fox is calling the shots.

Poor Andres, his time with Mets wasn’t good and then when he came back to SF he just couldn’t regain form.
Fun to watch in that first go round tho.

  15. zumiee said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:13 pm

Chi, definitely go see Richard Thompson in concert. The word genius gets thrown around a lot, but Thompson is a guitar genius. And a great songwriter, too. Some people aren’t as in to his singing voice, but I like his voice. It has kind of a Celtic quality to it that I like. I think he’s the whole deal, songwriting and performance. But especially his guitar-playing. He blows my mind every time I see him in concert, and I’ve seen him many times in concert. I’m not seeing this tour because it’s coming through right as I’m going to the Fillmore next week to see Patty Griffin perform. I’m not going to be able to fit two concert trips in during the next week or so.

    • djloo27 said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:19 pm

Yes, he sings just like John Havlicek…

    • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 1:00 pm

I have seen him before, solo and acoustic, and I agree whole-heartedly with your synopsis. (And I like his voice, too.) And you are right…he is amazing on the guitar…I believe he was voted best acoustic guitarist on at least one occasion.

    “school is Wisconsin-Stevens Point.”

Wow, it just seems like there’s an infinite amount of colleges out there. I keep hearing names of colleges I’ve never heard of before.

    • willedav said, on October 27, 2015 at 12:51 pm

NBA guy from there was Terry Porter. As I recall he lit Warriors up for 8 3s’ one night with Portland.
For not such a big state Wisconsin has a lot of small schools in different locations associated with UW.

saw on espn as I was ordering a burrito that Murph is one HR away from tying record of Bonds Beltran and Cruz. All of those were in losing effort, right?

  17. wilcojoe said, on October 27, 2015 at 1:32 pm

Saw Richard Thompson several years ago in Austin. He actually was playing solo acoustic but was awesome nonetheless. I haven’t heard his newest album yet which was produced by Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), but I need to check it out.

    • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 3:06 pm

Me too (have not heard his new album), but also saw it was produced by Tweedy. Yep…on my list to check-out.

One cool thing about K.C. playing is constantly reading/hearing, “The Royals are back in the Fall Classic after losing in seven games to the Giants in last year’s World Series.”

    • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 3:07 pm

Nice. As if we need a reminder. It’s a beautiful thing…

  25. xoot said, on October 27, 2015 at 5:58 pm

Oakland a’s fans, all 20K of them, saw that sort of CF play from Cespedes for about half his first season. Exactly why he got moved to LF.

    • wilcojoe said, on October 27, 2015 at 6:46 pm

Great to read all the Richard Thompson talk here. I got into him back in high school in the early ’70s. WMMR out of Philly played a lot of great music back then, including a lot of Fairport Convention. I fell in love with Sandy Denny’s voice and the band’s acoustic and electric British folk stuff. Even got into the Child Ballads, compilations of folk stories and songs, many of which Fairport did. Tamlin, Matty Grove, etc. At one point, I had every Fairport, Sandy Denny, and Richard Thompson album ever recorded. Don’t anymore, but fond memories of a lot of great music. Saw Richard a few times, both with Fairport and solo (and with ex-wife Linda, during their Hokey Pokey era). Just tremendous stuff… enjoy if you go, guys!

    • chipower9 said, on October 27, 2015 at 10:07 pm

Great stuff on Thompson, Pawlie. I was checking out some old Fairport videos earlier. I am definitely getting tickets. I have only seen him acoustic before, so this should be a treat.

Yes, I’m aware of the game situation…

  36. alleykat69 said, on October 27, 2015 at 7:19 pm

Turning into one hell of a W/S opening game. Both teams battling back from 2 run deficits to tie it up. Other then the Buckstaber in the booth everything would be perfect..

  37. djloo27 said, on October 27, 2015 at 7:50 pm

“Thoughts and prayers” is a reflex bullshit meaningless cliche about 97% of the time…

  38. wilcojoe said, on October 27, 2015 at 7:51 pm

I just missed that. Did they say Volquez’ dad died right before the game and he did not know? Are you kidding me?

    • wilcojoe said, on October 27, 2015 at 7:55 pm

I was watching the Warriors pregame on TNT and I missed what they were saying about Volquez. Did he die during the game?

      • djloo27 said, on October 27, 2015 at 7:56 pm

No, in the afternoon down in the DR…

    • xoot said, on October 27, 2015 at 7:56 pm

I drove home from work during the first inning and heard espn radio announce the death of Volgquez’s 63 year old father earlier today. It sounded as if everyone knew about the passing. Hard to imagine that Edinson’s wife and the Royals could hide the fact from him. Strange story.

  39. djloo27 said, on October 27, 2015 at 7:56 pm

listened to radio and seemed a damn fine game. I am a mets in 6 guy. And for them to really lose on defense? and attrition it was a tough game for both teams but we know how tough the kc played us last year.
First pitch inside the park set the tone for some fun baseball.
Every mets game I have heard on espn this post season the announcers have mentioned the player that was told there was a trade and cried. like he was going to the gallows and was redeemed. Just like fox news they can’t leave an “expose” emotion alone.
Mets best starter and the kc bullpen but neither dominated enough.

Brief write-up about the Giants and what they need to do to make it 4 in 7 from Fox, of all people.. 1) Need at least 1 and probably 2 top-tier starting pitchers because everyone besides Madbum and Peavy are toast; 2) keep Byrd, don’t keep Aoki; and 3) no need for a Zobrist or other super utility guy, just use Specs Tomlinson. Can’t say I disagree with any of that… http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2015/10/27/giants-offseason-preview-top-tier-starter-needed-to-continue-even-year-trend.html

Glad WS off to good start, seems like 2 evenly matched teams. Enjoy, guys.

I watched Warriors turn opener into garbage time before end of 3rd Q. Steph had 40 by then, ball movement and player movement was perfect and they attacked basket repeatedly. Gentry’s game plan for Brow was a curious one, putting him on perimeter a lot and he was not effective at all—one hoop in first half. Shaq and Barkley were all over him and NO offense in general.
Ezeli did block one of his post ups and dunked right over him too. Only time this was a game was during stretch of turnovers/missed chippies, mostly during Steph’s absence early part of second Q.
One of those nights GS was really fun to watch.

Webber did the game for TNT and he’s much improved and seemed to enjoy watching GS move the ball and hit open cutters and shooters. Also said he took some pregame heat from Draymond Green over Mich St-Michigan.
