Elbow Problems

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on February 27, 2016

Listening to the radio last evening, I found out Cain had a cyst removed from the same elbow, nearly the same spot, last November. This is bad no matter how the team tries to spin it.

If it were me, I’d come up with multiple contingency plans for Cain’s spot in the rotation.

“Very minor” tendinitis to keep Pence off the field for a couple of days: http://bit.ly/24uwkMP

I’m sure this won’t stop him from making more of those dumbass videos with his girlfriend. He’s still doing that by the way, the released another one this morning. Why the FUCK is she in Arizona? The dude needs to get his work in

      Sex? 🙂

    • zumiee said, on February 27, 2016 at 12:56 pm

She’s in Arizona because they’re young, in love, and feeling frisky.

He’s getting extra cardio in at home…

      All the above…

Oh, and BTW, I may be late hearing it, but just heard yesterday that Panik admitted he had a stress fracture in a lower vertebrae last season. Well, we all figured he didn’t just have a “sore back”, as the beat writers said as they burrowed one inch into the story at that time. Now, Cain has had two cysts over the offseason. The Giants have plenty of room in the CBA to say what’s wrong with these guys, they just don’t. Claim they don’t want to give leverage to potential trade partners – which I think is wacky. If I’m a GM and Panik is on the shelf for a “sore back”, and Evans asks me about one of my 2bman for a trade, am I figuring the Giants want my 2bman becaue Panik will be OK in a week with a dose of Doan’s Pills? It’s their deal to say what they want, but to me, they need to come cleaner with the physical health of their guys; I think part of it, don’t know how much, is they don’t want to damage the product in the offseason so they can push their season ticket sales…

    • chipower9 said, on February 29, 2016 at 8:17 am

I see your point from the perspective of a fan, but if I were part of the Giant’s management team, I wouldn’t change much in this regards.

Regarding the rotation, throw open the competition amongst the AAA guys. This is why they were drafted. The future is now.

    • snarkk said, on February 27, 2016 at 1:11 pm

Totally agree. We’ve heard about these minor league pitching prospects for a while now. Time to let’s see if there’s any there there…

My seven year old is watching Fuller House (reunion of original Full House cast) on Netflix as we speak. He just came running outside to tell me that Hunter Pence is dating Stephanie in one of the episodes.

    Baggarly on KNBR right now…

  6. snarkk said, on February 27, 2016 at 1:13 pm

Hadn’t heard this before; Mac Williamson hit .370 in the Fall League. Baggs saying he might be a factor early / mid season if Pagan struggles in the field, or at the plate…

  7. zumiee said, on February 27, 2016 at 1:19 pm

Giants/Angels game is on the MLB Network Wednesday at 1 and 10 PM Pacific Time, I think.

  8. snarkk said, on February 27, 2016 at 2:05 pm

Pavlovic’ story on Pence’s achilles say the Giant’s training staff are giving him treatment, but don’t plan any tests right now. What, the Giants players are on an HMO?…

  9. snarkk said, on February 27, 2016 at 3:15 pm

Lurie had Baggs, Pavlovic and Schulman on this afternoon as well as Evans. From that, some good info I concluded means:
    1. None of the beat guys are convinced Cain will start the season on the 25.
    2. The Pen is set, barring injury, except for maybe the long position — Heston has to win it, he won’t be handed it. If any of the vets in the Pen go belly up in the season, there’s plenty of flame thrower wealth in the minors to come in ready to go. I’m feeling better about the Pen now. I think that scenario sounds very possible, given some of the old arms in the Pen, even with Affeldt gone now.
    3. They need somebody to back up Crawford so he can get some days off and stay sharp all year. If Adrianza or Tomlinson can’t get it done, they might go out and get somebody. Hence, the interest in Rollins, which IMO sounds crazy. Tomlinson has a spot as utility guy, but can’t tank in the Spring, he hasn’t earned it yet, even given last year’s performance.

I’m optimistic about this squad. Barring big injury, this is the most balanced squad in talent in the Bochy era. They’re going to need to win over 90 to get into the playoffs. The NL is loaded with 7-8 teams at the top that will clean up on the rest of the league, so the competition for the 5 playoff spots will be fierce…

      Thanks for the summation, Snarkk.

      • zumiee said, on February 27, 2016 at 3:27 pm

Or summary. I’m not sure how the words are different. 🙂

      • snarkk said, on February 27, 2016 at 3:35 pm

De nada. What I mean on Cain is that they expect he’s not going to start for the first week or two of the season. Means he either starts year on the DL, or he’s on the active roster, just doesn’t pitch. I’m not even that optimistic. He’s got a new 1″ incision in his right upper arm. That has to heal for a while, then he has to start throwing again. After two years of being either out for injury, or basically crap while pitching, I’ve got no expectation for him whatever…

On the MLB Network, there’s a college game being played in the Astros’ ballpark. That ballpark is 362 to left-centerfield. That’s kind of a joke.
326 to straightaway center for some compensation.

    • zumiee said, on February 27, 2016 at 3:32 pm

      426 to center, I mean.

    • snarkk said, on February 27, 2016 at 3:40 pm

True, but the wall in Leftcenter is 25′ high…

Injuries and rumors of injuries. Well, this is really the drama at spring training, isn’t it? And it bodes not so well for doomers like me. Like snarkk et al., I tend to feel all SFG injuries are always worse than perceived or reported. Oh well. Act I. Curtain rises.

Wow Stanford Cardinal whip UCLA 2 days after thashing SC (probably the better team( by 20 to sweep SoCal schools. Cal has already edged UCLA too, so 4 game sweep in order. Yaha!

  14. snarkk said, on February 27, 2016 at 5:14 pm

Cal will probably end up, as usual when it goes to the NCAAs, as a 7 or 8 seed playing in some way early game way back in some gawdforsaken Eastern place somewhere in the first round, against a team that is likely really a #4 seed, and ends up playing a tough, gritty game, and losing by half a dozen. Better than the NIT, though…

    • willedav said, on February 27, 2016 at 5:29 pm

Mm, no one in Pac12 outstanding but Cal as good as any–they all play well at home/struggle on road.
AZ lost at Utah and Colo this weekend just when everyone thought they had regained strength.
Cal goes to Tucson next weekend–they are only 1 game back of Oregon if they beat SC.
Anyone of 4 teams could win conference tourney, should be interesting at neutral site in Vegas.

  15. Flavor said, on February 27, 2016 at 5:25 pm

Utah is a sneaky pick in the tourney this year. Maybe not to win it all but they are gonna go deeeeep. Snarkk, great synopsis of Lurie’s show.

Steph Curry is the greatest basketball player alive, and the rest of the Oakland Warriors aren’t far behind. What a game in OKC tonight. That Curry game win inter 3 was astonishing.

    Fucking A,
I’m just flabbergasted on the brilliance of Stephen Curry!!
Wow he really is not human, freakin ice in his veins on that game winning 3!!! Just a pure” assassin” on the court!!

  28. Flavor said, on February 27, 2016 at 8:39 pm

watch Kanter standing by the bench throw up his hands while the ball is in flight.

  29. zumiee said, on February 27, 2016 at 8:52 pm

The refs were letting Westbrook get away with shoving the defender away with his left hand. That shouldn’t be allowed.
