What In the World Ever Became of Sweet Jane?

“Busted down on Bourbon Street, Set up like a bowling pin…..”

There is one Flapper who gets to strut around and say he knew it all along, and that Flapper is the great and storied WILLIED.

Dee Gordon got taken to the woodshed for PED’s and now last season makes a lot more sense. I wonder what his hitting coach has to say about this? lqtm.

The Giants are in NY for a very difficult series vs a solid Mets club. Matz? deGrom? Thor? Jesus, those are 3 studs lined up and we counter tonight with fucking Peavy.

Do we have any New York Flappers storming the gates this weekend?

Heard Finnerty’s owner on KNBR this morning. He says they’ll be 160 strong in section 138 today. All wearing orange shirts and loud as fuck.

Peavy did okay in his last start. Matz has been struggling early. So that part may be a bit of a toss-up. Meanwhile Giants hitters have just fattened up on Dagos’ pitching, formed nice congalines and may have gotten back in tune. Game two’s matchup scares me. Sunday brings the battle of the aces. So we should win one, have a chance at two and make this a well-contested series.

Kruk was on KNBR this morning telling us not to look at Cain’s ERA and that he’s actually pitching great. And that it was a huge accomplishment to beat the Padres who can beat anyone anytime. SMH. Kruk is just hilarious……

    • snarkk said, on April 29, 2016 at 8:25 am

Kruk will pump up anybody with a $20 million per year deal…

I think Peavy gets blasted today. Peavy at home vs Peavy on the road are two very different Peavy’s…..

Anyone else know this shit (literally) about Mad Dog? Click on the links for more detail. Example – Wiping teammates’ shirts on his ass and then let them wear those shirts. What a scumbag.

Are teams putting PED clauses into players contracts that void a contract if the player get’s caught? Nope. Until it happens (which I don’t think it will anytime soon) it’s only going to get worse. We’re about to see a second huge resurgence of PED allegations. Great article in USA Today on Collabello this week in which Victor Conte spoke of some of these new drugs (really good ones) which only stay in your system for a few hours. Too many idiot ballplayers that won’t be able to follow the directions on the label.

Agree with Peavy on the road getting hammered. Though for some unseen reason in the force the Giants usually play pretty well in NY, so I could see a win tonight in a comeback capacity..

Like I always say, Nobody is above suspicion these days…

  8. zumiee said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:06 am

The PED cloud continues to hang over baseball because…..they work! And the players fully know it. That enticing forbidden fruit is always hanging within reach. Even after getting caught, the players often still benefit from a PED-aided huge contract.

  9. zumiee said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:10 am

It doesn’t look good on paper for the Giants this weekend, but the Giants have been defeating paper in even-numbered years lately.
And…..that’s why they play the games. Baseball has the infinite capacity to surprise. 🙂

    • blade3colorado said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:17 am

Exactly. Non-issue, e.g., which one of us or for that matter, which baseball media expert picked us to win in 2010? 2012? 2014? I’m continuously surprised by what happens in baseball or life.

  10. zumiee said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:14 am

I doubt Kruk and Kuip will do much moralizing about PEDs tonight. They can’t, until they’re willing to say something about Bonds, and to my knowledge, they’ve never done that. They continue to wax eloquently about the amazing home-run accomplishments of Bonds, and pretend the whole PED-thing doesn’t exist in Bonds’ legacy. It’s pretty silly the way K&K ignore that elephant in the room regarding Bonds.

Peavy will be in the clubhouse playing his banjo by the bottom of the 4th.

  12. blade3colorado said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:20 am

I could give 2 shits about PEDs – who does them especially. Actually, I assume they are ALL using some form of PEDs and/or stimulants. Me? I wish they would approve their use. Testing continues to be a cosmic level joke.

    • Flavor said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:23 am

but they nailed the batting champion. That’s a big deal. Either he’s too stupid to take the masking drugs at the right time or mlb is getting better at testing.

  13. zumiee said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:38 am

K&K might be less-likely now to be gushing about how Adrianza’s physique filled out so well in a few months. He might be totally clean, but it does look a bit suspicious.

    • Flavor said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:41 am

he was going to get busted before he got hurt. I’m convinced of that.

  14. dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:46 am

I guess I just have an irrational poly view of Cain. I think he’ll be okay as in a sub 4.00 ERA. Hard to see him approaching 200 innings though.

  15. Macdog said, on April 29, 2016 at 9:59 am

Could see some crappy weather for this series. Light rain/drizzle possible tonight, tomorrow’s supposed to be a pretty good day, but then rain expected Sunday, the game I’m going to.

  16. dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 29, 2016 at 11:18 am

Gordon tested positive in Spring Training per Stark. I guess he dropped his appeal otherwise this could have dragged out even longer.

    • zumiee said, on April 29, 2016 at 11:44 am

We greatly appreciate that he waited until after the Dodger series. 🙂

      • Macdog said, on April 29, 2016 at 12:40 pm

That’s the most hilarious part, he got suspended right after he played a big part in finishing off the sweep.

    • zumiee said, on April 29, 2016 at 3:02 pm

Yes; it was on the MLB Network.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 29, 2016 at 4:57 pm

Seriously? I’m game for theories and all, but that’s a little thin. They wait til after this one game? Or the series?

      • dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 29, 2016 at 5:19 pm

I’d guess he dropped the appeal before the game and they held off on the penalty.

  18. unca_chuck said, on April 29, 2016 at 1:03 pm

If the stories are to be believed, you have to be beyond retarded to test positive. This shit cycles out pretty fast.

Giants brain trust need to give Peavy the remainder of his $9 million salary, along with his gold watch. As far as I’m concerned, he can start his next career singing songs in hotel stairwells.

  59. Flavor said, on April 29, 2016 at 6:05 pm

PK just sent me pic of him and the owner of Finnerty’s. That’s rad. I was listening to the dude get interviewed at 6:30am this morning in the car and less than 12 hours later PK is snapping a pic with him

  60. Macdog said, on April 29, 2016 at 6:11 pm

Here’s a depressing thought. Giants spent all this money on Cueto & Samajrwhatever — and it’s still not enough. They have no No. 4 starter. They have no No. 5 starter.

    • James said, on April 29, 2016 at 6:22 pm

It should not be that difficult to find two starters who are just adequately subpar, 4.1 to 4.3 ERA. Too bad we don’t still have one my favorites on the staff, Y. Petit.

  67. James said, on April 29, 2016 at 6:54 pm

Cain is hitting 91 mph, which means, in theory, he could still be useful. After the first season or so, his fastball was never more than 92-3 anyway.

    • snarkk said, on April 29, 2016 at 7:28 pm

Trouble is, that 91 mph fastball gets turned around a lot at about 108 mph…

  68. Carstie Clausen said, on April 29, 2016 at 7:00 pm

What have we learned from this debacle? (l) After three innings Peavy lost all control ~ 32 balls to 38 strikes. (2) Right down Broadway is NOT my idea of a fireman and soon will be plying his pitches for Sactown. (3) With runners on the corners Buster was not able to come through. (4) A certain gentlemen with the surname of Blackburn will not be keeping his SF apartment search on the back burner for much longer.

“The hardest part about this is feeling that I have let down my teammates, the organization, and the fans. I have been careful to avoid products that could contain something banned by MLB and the 20-plus tests that I have taken and passed throughout my career prove this,” he said.
