BeanTown BeatDown?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 7, 2016

I actually think Suarez is going to do ok tonight. Boston likes to blast the ball out of the yard and that doesn’t really work at AT&T. Plus, they’re playing NL rules in an unfamiliar yard. I dunno, it just feels like he might not get blasted.

And who put this game on the schedule? Boston flies all the way out here for 2 interleague games? Then back to Minnesota? I bet they’re stoked about this trip. lulz.

It’s too bad Cleveland is doing well. I would have liked to have seen the Giants pick up Rajai Davis for 2 months.

Assuming they pick up a guy without a big contract, who are some of the names you’d like to see us look at? I’m on record as going with Carl Crawford just for the jokes on LA.

The sea gulls must love “Don’t Stop Believin”…

    • wilcojoe said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:37 pm

I can’t hear that song anymore and not tear up. Between the World Series games and the final episode of The Soprano’s, I get goose bumps and misty eyed every single time.

    Let’s get a run!

      And it’s a mean-looking stare.

  4. zumiee said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:33 pm

I like the bullpens on the sidelines. At the game, it’s fun to see a better view of who’s warming up.

    • Lurker John said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:34 pm

True, it’s just not so safe for the players.

  5. djloo27 said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:35 pm

The return of Pablo would’ve been fun…

  6. blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:38 pm

Machado got beaned with a 99 MPH heater from Ventura, charged the mound and started throwing punches.

    • sandog said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:48 pm

I hear he landed at least one of them…good for him.

      • blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:57 pm

Yeah, also body slammed him to the ground. I agree well deserved. Fastball hit him in the side, but still he was practically limping to the mound when he went after Ventura.

  7. Lurker John said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:38 pm

Duffy is lost at the plate. When do you start thinking about sitting him down?

  8. James said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:39 pm

If Matt Duffy doesn’t get injured, with Boch’s steadfast support, he may produce the single worst season of any number 3 hitter in history.

    • zumiee said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:41 pm

Bochy wants the illusion of a “longer” lineup.

      • djloo27 said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:45 pm

        More like a delusion…

  9. blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:41 pm

What pisses me off about that Journey song is that every baseball team plays it. There should be a rule that only teams that have won the World Series in the last 5 years can play it, with one addendum – if you’ve won it 3 times in the last 6 years, then you have dibs for 25 years.

    • djloo27 said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:44 pm

Same thing happened with “Sweet Caroline”………I never got that at all.

    • wilcojoe said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:46 pm

Exactly! Not to mention they started out in San Francisco.

  10. zumiee said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:48 pm

Loo, I totally agree with the yo-yo reference for Kontos. He just can’t seem to put himself higher in the bullpen hierarchy.

    • sandog said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:51 pm

…meanwhile, my boy Strick is on a rocket ride to Alternate Closer status! (Though he did have a pretty good at-em ball going tonight)

      • zumiee said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:56 pm

        Well….uh….

      • willedav said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:58 pm

No idea where the f ing ball is going.
Hung the breaking ball that almost got himself killed.
Hung the last fastball that Belt speared.
Drilled the ump with 97 that missed the target by a foot or two.

      • sandog said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:02 pm

Lulz WillieD! By the way, when are you going to get around to ripping Hanley tonight? Seems to me you’ve slammed him pretty good over the years. Not to the same extent you have ripped Vogey, but close.

    Completely impotent 9th inning.

  13. chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:59 pm

Shit. Quick trip to the hot tub and a beer later, and we’re getting ready to play extras, AND Casilla is on the hill. And a fucking lead-off double. Just don’t know what to say about Casilla, and whatever it is, won’t be pretty.

  14. alleykat69 said, on June 7, 2016 at 9:59 pm

Consultation doesn’t work when you groove a cookie pitch Casilla!!

  15. chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:01 pm

Casilla fucking sucks! There, told you it would not be pretty.

  16. chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:02 pm

  17. unca_chuck said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:02 pm

Wow. We get good Casilla in the 9th, bad Casilla in the 10th.

How much longer can we have squat in the 3 hole?

  24. unca_chuck said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:06 pm

14 RBIs? Duffy was a great story last year, but Jesus, Boch HAS to be moving his ass down.

    • chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:09 pm

That is exactly what Loo was saying a month or so ago. I was begging to differ at the time, but I am with that now.

  25. chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:08 pm

Fuck…goddammit, Bochy should have taken his ass out a couple of batters back! If the Giants go on to lose, this one is as much on Bochy as it is on Casilla.

  26. Bozo said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:08 pm

    Fuck.

  27. alleykat69 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:09 pm

I really don’t like the goddamn red sox

    • chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:11 pm

I really don’t like it when Bochy sticks with a guy for about two too many hitters…ARGH.

  31. chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:10 pm

As much as Bochy is a “bullpen maestro,” he has a fault here, not only with Casilla.

    • sandog said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:14 pm

I don’t know man…who would you have brought in instead…Oshit?

      • chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:21 pm

Good question…the bullpen is a fucking shambles right now. I would push Casilla back to a set-up spot, and use someone else (Mr. yoyo Kontos or Strick)…And Romo isn’t even close to being ready.

  32. zumiee said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:15 pm

This is the last year on Casilla’s contract. B’bye.

  33. sandog said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:15 pm

Lyons mentioned earlier that one rumor flying around is that Posey’s hand is jacked up from catching Captain Morgan with all of his hard stuff that darts around.
I usually don’t care for Lyons either, but I think he has been good tonight. He seems to have less of a vibe of “everything I say must be clever or funny” about him compared to his National broadcast days.
FYI, I think Kruk has a real bad case of “I have to be funny all the time” syndrome as well. It’s part of the reason I’m not a big fan.

    • snarkk said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:18 pm

It’s his right hand thumb. Catches with his left hand. So, how does that make sense — the ball has been hitting his bare hand?…

      • sandog said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:24 pm

I guess that’s what I get for collecting Intel from a guy who pulls his pants down on National TV…..

  34. snarkk said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:16 pm

This Pen is a real problem. If you’re not scoring a lot, your Pen better be kickass good…

    Come on kid…show us something.

  38. blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:19 pm

Speaking of hands, Duffy was hit in the hand on the 30th and I think he might still be affected by it. He’s still walking a lot, hardly strikes out, and his defense is superb. Should he be moved down in the order. Definitely . . . but who replaces him in the 3 hole? That’s the million dollar question . . . Personally, I love the guy and I think he’ll figure it out again. He was too good last season for me not to think that.

    • James said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:25 pm

Blade, Duffy is the least disciplined hitter in the line up, with the lowest walk percentage of all the starters.

      • blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:27 pm

I should have been more clear – He is far ahead of his walk rate from last season.

      • blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:28 pm

So, I’ll echo what Chi said, what’s your LU going forward, i.e., 1-8?

    • chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:25 pm

Right now, with Pence out (and now Posey for a game or two), the “who do you put there” becomes an even tougher question to answer.

    Cactus Mac fails again…

  40. Macdog said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:21 pm

This one’s on Blanco and his AB in the 4th, when the Giants had a great chance to put up a big number off the crappy Porcello. That double play was a killer.

    • chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:22 pm

Good point. The Giants just do not score enough runs to cover up their POS pen. Maybe Lisle is right. Maybe the 0ffense is weak…

  41. chipower9 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:22 pm

What a fucking POS game. Bochy AND Casilla own that fucker.

  42. blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:23 pm

Yep, agree with Kruk – silver lining was Suarez. Lucky to have him right now.

  43. unca_chuck said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:24 pm

Another come-from-ahead loss. Yes, the pen has something to do with this mess.

    • djloo27 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:25 pm

      Yeah, lots of those lately…

  44. snarkk said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:24 pm

Well, so far this one’s on Duffy, Craw, Blanco, Casilla, and Bochy…

    • Macdog said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:33 pm

Don’t forget Brown and that terrible throw to set up the tying run.

One of those games where you can take your pick:

  46. Bozo said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:26 pm

You go out to pull his sorry ass and Bochy shit in his pants and let him continue?? Fuck that loyalty and show some “cojones”, Fuck Butt Hurt Pride and make a Fucking STATEMENT!!!!

  49. zumiee said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:29 pm

Thompson with the walk-off HR. He’s done that before. Good player.

  50. blade3colorado said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:29 pm

Yeah, God forbid the cause of this loss were the Red Sox (with the best record in baseball). lulz

  51. willedav said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:30 pm

Team game lot of fingers to point if you want to go that route.
Honest tho after Casilla 9th I was sure that was all we’d see of him–can’t remember last time he went more than 1 full inning.

SD, outside of Bryce Harper and a few Royals, can’t think of any player more annoying than Hanley, now with an even dumber two tone braid hairstyle.
. LA doesn’t bother me near as much now he’s gone.
If I’d have been in the dugout, that intentional walk to him would have looked a little different.

  52. snarkk said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:30 pm

The Sox didn’t dominate, the Giants just didn’t play as well. Giants have low margin for defensive and pitching mistakes…

  53. djloo27 said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:34 pm

The Giants are like a high school team right now.
Their best hitter and pitcher is the same guy…

  54. snarkk said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:35 pm

Brown’s bad throw to second was big, too, let the runner go to third. If not for that, the Big Papi play doesn’t score a run…

    Post game spread: Tin cans

  56. sandog said, on June 7, 2016 at 10:39 pm

I’m not that chapped about this game, nor am I that down on Casilla. He is what he is…a good closer, not a great one. I wouldn’t say he got shelled tonight. Bogaerts is a stud and battled him tough at a key moment.
Entertaining game against a fresh opponent, which was nice. Zumie will get us back on track tomorrow.
    Farewell and adieu gents…

WTF, you guys? Ihow am I s’pose ta give my roommate grief with an errant tag and a closer close close but no cigarillo? Get it together, eh?

  58. Carstie Clausen said, on June 8, 2016 at 6:16 am

Called it a day and trundled up to bed last night when the Giants went down in the 9th. Simply had that feeling. Giants usually score their runs early and have a helluva time rallying late to get a tally on the table. And with three of our best hitters hors de combat, what were the chances anyway. Chances of a walkoff dinger dropped from about one in eight to one in twenty.

Is Bochy losing his touch or do we need to also place a bunch of onus on Sabevans for not bringing in at least one veteran reliable reliever during the off-season? Casilla in the 10th was desperation ~ playing with fire. Team must be given some credit, though, for making a game of it and Suarez sure won his spurs last night with his fine start against the hardest hitting team in MLB.

  59. chipower9 said, on June 8, 2016 at 7:33 am

I was REALLY on Bochy and Casilla last night, but agree with others, that there was plenty of blame to spread around. I was only half-kidding when I said last night that “maybe Lisle is right…maybe our 0ffense is weak.” Three runs against a team like Boston is not going to get it done on a regular basis. Granted, we are missing two of our biggest sticks, but it does point out what we all already know, and that is that the margin for error with this team is very slim. Last night they erred just a bit too much in a multitude of areas.

I am with SanDiggity on his 10:39, now that I had some time to sleep on this one.

But I still say that they have two glaring needs right now, and they need to be addressed sooner rather than later.

    1) I still feel they need to go trade for a quality OFer (NOT a stop-gap). Someone who can step in and play every day, and will be a viable option for a couple of years (since Pagan is PaGONE next year, and the marathon man – Pence – has seemed to developed some chinks in his armor).

    2) A solid bullpen arm. Someone mentioned Andrew Miller of the YankMees the other day, and I agree…we need a guy like that who can give you a couple of innings and is good against both lefties and righties. (Kind of like Affeldt in his prime).

Problem is, I don’t see Sabevans getting on either of these anytime soon. So, If they do not go get an OFer, then as someone else mentioned, start Parker REGULARLY. Let the kid start in 25 or so consecutive games and get some decent ABs, so they will truly know what they have.

Get us a W, Zumiee – and we will be anticipating the pictures.

I will be following via LameDay this evening. Going to see a young singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist named Sarah Jarosz that I have wanted to see for a very long time at a killer small venue in Grass Valley. Should be one kick-ass show.

    GO GIANTS!

    • zumiee said, on June 8, 2016 at 10:18 am

Have a great time at the show, Chi! She’s great.
I’ll post some ballgame photos on Facebook. I don’t know how to post them at the Flap.
