Gold and Pure Gold

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 12, 2016

These have been fun games to watch. Regardless of the outcome. Although I’m probably just saying that because of last night’s outcome.

And big props to Snarkk and San Dawg and others for comments last night that transcended the game and the sport. Whenever I find myself reading posts more than once I know they are pure gold. Those are too long to put into the POTD but I am going to flood the POTD-best of a little later today when I have more time.

Peavy tonight! Fuck yeah, why not?

    And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking;
And racing around to come up behind you again…

    BELT!

    BELT-ED!

    Belt baby!

  5. willedav said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:24 pm

yeah that probably is his last batter!

  6. Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:25 pm

Belt is one big, strong dude. That was not an easy pitch to pull like that, breaking ball down. Anything he squares up has a chance to go.

  7. djloo27 said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:25 pm

Doesn’t seem too loud at ATT.
    Are they all texting?

    • zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:27 pm

Probably a lot of Dodger fans there, unfortunately.

    • Macdog said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:35 pm

Must be nervous about the Sharks.

  8. Macdog said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:29 pm

Belt takes Julio out of the ballyard.

  9. djloo27 said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:29 pm

SanDog: Now ESPN is saying right thumb for Buster.
Very possible Giant med staff doesn’t know the difference…

The chink in Urias’ armor appears when he gives up a hit. That led to a Panik attack. Then he got Belted.

  11. djloo27 said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:33 pm

    I know I wouldn’t want a chink in my armor…

  12. Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:36 pm

    Fuckin; Gascan.

  13. Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:38 pm

His fastball is very straight and he’s inconsistent with his off-speed stuff. He still makes me nervous every time he’s out there.

  14. Irish Kevin said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:39 pm

That is why Strickland will never be the closer!

  15. djloo27 said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:40 pm

Why doesn’t he just throw his slider at 97?

  16. zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:45 pm

    Gearrin in the 8th?

  17. Macdog said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:47 pm

Sorry for you Sharks fans, still had a great run.

  18. Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:49 pm

Blanco can’t hit shit right now.

  19. zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:49 pm

Blanco, 0 for his last 25. Brutal!

  20. Flavor said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:51 pm

Blanco just shouldn’t play every day. He’s proven it time and time again. He’s much better with rest.

  21. sandog said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:53 pm

That looks like plenty of room for two nice bullpens. Make it so!

  22. Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:54 pm

I’m a Flyers fan so I hate the Penguins by default. I feel bad for the Sharks and their fans but they had a great season and that’s to be celebrated. I was born in SJ, so it will always be my home town. Winning a title of this magnitude would have been fantastic for a city that was mostly apricot orchards when I was a kid, but they have a good team and can still get one. They made it to the Finals, now it’s time to come back and win the Cup.

It’s amazing how hockey has succeeded in CA. In my day it was all but dead after the Seals folded. The Kings had some good teams and some great players, but were never a serious threat to win the Cup. Now there’s 3 successful franchises in the state. Very cool because it’s a great sport.

  23. sandog said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:55 pm

You think Crawdad could have scored on that fly out? Strong throw, I know, but it came in so high.
Don Zimmer would have sent him…

    • zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:57 pm

I think with one out Kelly would have sent him.

  24. bassbaldy said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:58 pm

Jeeeezus … fuckin lead off triple .. fuckin zip … these guys havent hit shit for 2 1/2 months .. everybody is a fuckin .250 hitter .. gag, puke … Belt being the singular exception of those not on the DL.

    • Flavor said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:01 pm

the only guy I’m down on is Posey. Outside of his 2 homer game in Col and his seeing eye game winner yesterday he’s been shit. You don’t get to be shit when you make that much money.

      • sandog said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:06 pm

I tip my cap to you man, for somehow finding a way to blame Posey after that half inning that didn’t involve him at all.

      • bassbaldy said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:10 pm

I am 1000K % with you on that.

        Span is “ok” .. acceptable.

Panik & Duff are having off years ..I hope that is all it is, I hope.

Craw is up and down, mostly down but that is who he is .265, .275 at best .

The bench Blanco, Gilaspie, Brown, meh ..

  25. zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 7:59 pm

Bochy could have tried the squeeze with Blanco, but that’s just second-guessing.

  26. djloo27 said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:00 pm

I like Denard Span, but so far he’s basically a very wealthy Tiny Felder…

  27. Macdog said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:00 pm

And here comes the Parade of Relievers.

    • djloo27 said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:07 pm

If I was in a bar, I’d make Bochy’s pitching changes into some kind of drinking game…

      • Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:12 pm

  36. zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:16 pm

  37. Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:16 pm

Bochy’s recent use of the relief-pitcher-parade is like a bizarro conga line.

Blast belongs to Belt. Win well deserved by resurrected Peavy. How sweet it is.

  62. bassbaldy said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:53 pm

We handed them the first game and tried hard to gift them the second too .. only fair they (A-Gon) gave us a reach-around on this one.

Fuck scoring runs, I guess .. all we need is one more than the other guys and we get the big dubbya!

We sure are becoming expert in this one run shit.

    • zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 8:57 pm

      It’s how the playoffs are.

    • willedav said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:02 pm

Unlike LA now 7-12. 2010 was amazing ride, torture being a big part of it, esp with Wilson closing.

BTW, WD .. did you see my response to your Buster Williams query?

      Bingo. Good call.

  64. Lurker John said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:10 pm

Great and important series win. The team was floundering a bit and didn’t need to lose this series. The hitting is still woeful right now, but let’s see if the Giants can use this as a springboard to another nice streak.

  65. snarkk said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:15 pm

Didn’t see or hear much of this one. But, sounds like Belt was the hitting hero again. Give the kid a contract, and he performs. I’m going to start ripping Peavy before every damn start he has. Seems like he pitches well to spite me… 😉

    • zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:20 pm

Literally no one saw it coming.

  66. zumiee said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:19 pm

Interesting pitching match-ups on Monday. (I love the everyday-ness of the baseball season!) Cain (he returns) vs. the Brewers, and Greinke vs. the Dodgers.

  67. Carstie Clausen said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:30 pm

We can project a bit from tonight’s win and our now full 5 game lead over the LaBumbos. First, LA is not really very good right now and the possibility of SF winning the NLW now approaches probability. Second, though not usually as dramatic as he was tonight, Belt does appear to be coming into his own and provided he stays healthy, this could be his breakout year. Third, Peavy appears to have resurrected himself yet once again. Remember when he came to the Giants from Boston, he was having a miserable early season there and he turned it around totally once he returned to the tutelage of his original manager BB15. Fourth, Cain is due to pitch tomorrow night. If he does even remotely okay it appears that our pen will be massively strengthened with Suarez stepping into the vital longman role. Fifth, the return of Pagan, most likely on Wednesday vitiates the possibility of two still questionable rookies playing the outfield in a given game.

Add it all up and the all too frequent June Swoon grows less and less likely by the day. We should expect to take two of three from the Brewers. If so, the team has gone through a period of sparse offense, following an early experience of 40% negativity in the Rotation and questions everywhere in the pen. All things considered, the team appears to have corrected its list and nears return to an even keel. The looming fear of desperation now has a 5 game cushion and some renewed confidence on the part of the team.

    • bassbaldy said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:55 pm

Nicely stated Stix. Not a single thing youve stated can I take exception with. I especially like your forceast of slipping the grip of the dreaded, seemingly perennial, June Swoon .. damn, even IM feeling optimistic … wtf? .. shit, see? .. ive even forgotten how to spell that word!

  68. unca_chuck said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:42 pm

Lebron James is a chicken shit pussy. Still won’t help his sorry ass.

He caused the ‘fight’ and the whined to the refs after the game about it.

According to Steven A Smith, he says he’s been hearing from a lot of players that they think Bron is a total wimp for pushing the whole thing after the game.

ThrNBA should be ashamed of themselves for making these kinds of decisions waasaay after the fact. If the NFL did this , there’d be 35 suspensions a week.

    • snarkk said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:53 pm

Totally agree. LeBron comes out of this looking like a total jerk. And, the NBA looks like it’s trying to engineer a LeBron resuscitation. I hope like hell the Dubs win tomorrow, and Oracle treats LeBron like the wuss he is the whole game. That post game presser where he said he has 3 kids etc., and was shocked by Draymond’s language calling him out was such a load of crap. Beware, the Dubs will not only have to beat the Cavs without Green, but with the refs likely calling a foul anytime a Dubs player even breathes in LeWuss’s direction…

    • James said, on June 12, 2016 at 10:04 pm

If GS wins tomorrow, I hope the presentation of the trophy is drowned out with booing for the NBA reps there.

  69. snarkk said, on June 12, 2016 at 10:21 pm

Timmeh pitched tonight against the Grizzlies in Fresno. Yielded one hit and one walk, while striking out eight over seven scoreless innings. He had a no-hitter going through five. Next time, he pitches this Friday night in Oakland against the A’s…
