Phuckin’ Phillies @ The Big Phone

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 24, 2016

Another day, another W. This is what the Dubs season felt like. Wins piling on top of wins with the fans starting to become a little immune to how awesome a win is. We need to appreciate these now, there will be darker days ahead.

Tonight, the Phillies come to town and they stink. They can’t hit and their pitchers give up gobs of bombs. How will that translate into this weekend series? It’s baseball, anything can happen. I don’t think we’re as good as our record. It doesn’t make sense that we can lose some of our best players and we start winning MORE. But whatever, enjoy the ride. Peavy at home as been a pretty good ride. Peavy anywhere has been a surprising good thing.

Ranking our starters in terms of reliability you’d probably have to go Bum, Cueto, Peavy, Smarge and then Suarez who is just a cheaper version of Petit who, frankly, I’d still rather have on the team…..

Belt is an All-Star this season so far. I hope he gets picked for it. He should.

    • chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 9:55 pm

Agree, Zume. Belt is in 2nd with 839k votes (about 150k more than Goldylocks). Rizzo running away with it at 2.2 mil.

Man…I just am not digging the way Span plays CF. Fuck…

  3. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 9:51 pm

Span should’ve had that one. That’s the second time in a week he got turned around. The first time he got lucky. There should be 2 outs.

    • chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 9:56 pm

Pagan was a good soldier and made no waves about moving to a corner. I say fuck it, and let him have a shot at CF. Span does have some starts playing the corners (100 in RF and 45 in LF).

        .

I saw, so I deleted mine to keep the thread pretty…

  4. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:00 pm

Strange letting Osich pitch to the righthander there.

  5. djloo27 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:02 pm

Galvis can put one in the water. Better not give in with a 3 run lead…

  6. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:02 pm

    Rare mismanagement from Bochy.

  7. djloo27 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:04 pm

    Gearrin’s aiming…

  8. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:07 pm

you gotta be kidding me. Bourjois sucks.

  9. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:08 pm

    Big exhale.

    *whew*

  11. chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:09 pm

    Is it ok to breath?

  12. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:11 pm

I still can’t believe Bochy let Osich pitch to that righthander. Other than maybe he wanted to get Osich more experience in a situation like that.

    • chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:20 pm

Zume – I am sure if you had the opportunity to ask, he would provide some type of reason. And maybe even one that you still would not agree with, but it is hard to argue with the dude’s overall success. He gets an occasional pass in my book.

  13. Macdog said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:13 pm

Philly radio announcer right before Belt’s bases-clearing double: “The Giants are a Major League-best .397 with the bases loaded, however, Belt is 1 for 6.” Ooops.

    • chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:20 pm

      lqtm…that’s fucking awesome.

  14. djloo27 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:14 pm

    Tough ump.
I think i would be in tears from that…

  15. Carstie Clausen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:14 pm

Zumiee: Before coming back to the Flap to read the comments, my thoughts were much like yours that Bochy had gone one bridge too far in overmanaging his mix n’ match bullies. Sometimes that strategy works just fine. That inning we were fortunate that they only plated two.

  16. bassbaldy said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:18 pm

I just tuned in … Are my eyes deceiving me or did Bochy change pitchers in the middle of Godell’s at bat?

    • zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:20 pm

      He did.

  17. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:19 pm

Hold on to your hats. Put your seatbelt on.

  18. djloo27 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:20 pm

Casilla’s been much better since he gave birth…

    • Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:21 pm

That had to be something to see.

    • Macdog said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:21 pm

Watching Casilla close out a game is probably a lot like giving birth.

    • chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:21 pm

Yeah, that has to be one hell of a relief…

  19. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:20 pm

I think Bochy had a gut feeling about leaving Osich in. When it got to 2-1 he had another gut feeling…oops!

  20. chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:22 pm

OK boys, here we go. Strap it on…

  21. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:23 pm

    LOOGY done good.

  22. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:23 pm

I’m okay with leaving Osich in, it’s the bringing Lopez in to start the 9th that had me worried. Worked out this time.

  23. Paul Sorensen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:24 pm

It’s great, ain’t it? Edge of your seats baseball, against a lousy team, in June, knowing LA already lost. This team is keeping us interested just about every game…..

    • Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:25 pm

Nail on the head. It was fun watching the Dodgers lose earlier. This would be the perfect capper.

    • chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:28 pm

      Absolutely!

  24. chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:27 pm

    Wow!

  25. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:27 pm

    Good call, ump!

    Early Christmas

  27. Paul Sorensen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:29 pm

MLB Gameday is calling Casilla’s off speed pitch a knuckle curve. Is that really what he’s throwing?

    • Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:30 pm

      I don’t think so.

      • Paul Sorensen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:31 pm

Yeah, I didn’t think so either, but it sounds cool….

  28. chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:29 pm

Damn, how was that NOT a strike in relation the the strike-out pitch?!

  29. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:30 pm

With that herky-jerky motion, Casilla just never was going to be a pinpoint control guy.

    • zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:33 pm

      It gets pretty ridiculous, though.

  30. Paul Sorensen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:32 pm

Ok, I take it back, maybe edge of your seats baseball against a lousy team in June ain’t all that great…..

  31. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:33 pm

    This dude has nothing tonight.

  32. Macdog said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:34 pm

Worst-hitting team in baseball, and these guys don’t want to throw strikes.

  33. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:34 pm

    wtf

  34. Paul Sorensen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:34 pm

They absolutely canNOT allow this one to slip away….

  35. Irish Kevin said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:35 pm

I hate it when Kruk makes excuses for a pitcher, fuck the fact he has been out there third day in a row!!

  36. chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:36 pm

    Just another three-hour-plus, six-pitcher, one-run victory.

    • Paul Sorensen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:40 pm

lulz 🙂 Had it all the way, Mac. Wow, you still up?

      • Macdog said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:41 pm

Hell yeah, I just got home a little while ago.

  42. chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:39 pm

Weeee Doggies Boys! That was way too close for comfort…

  43. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:39 pm

Talk about a high-wire act, that was Philippe Petit at the WTC.

  44. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:40 pm

All of that literally couldn’t have been closer. 🙂

  45. Lurker John said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:40 pm

    Santiago “Two-Pack” Casilla.

    • zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:42 pm

Some people probably STARTED smoking for the first time during that inning!

Shit, I’m pouring myself a stiff Moscow Mule and hitting the hot tub! Whew…

Will miss tomorrow’s game (may follow on LameDay)…we will be in North Shore Lake Tahoe to see a band I have wanted to see for some time: Trampled by Turtles. In a small casino to boot. Should be a kick-ass show!

Flan Man on the postgame. Was so fun seeing him and his band last weekend, and to get to meet and chat with him. He is one damned cool dude.

    • zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:58 pm

Have a great time at the show, Chi!

  49. bassbaldy said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:48 pm

I wonder what the record for one run victories is … are we even in the vicinity? We gotta be getting close … Damn, what a weird season!

  50. Carstie Clausen said, on June 24, 2016 at 10:56 pm

Good thing Flappers and other Giants fans are not pitching for the team. It is very important for a pitcher to retain his fingernails.

    • zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:00 pm

That was tough to watch. It would be interesting to know what the average spike in blood pressure was for all Flappers.

  51. djloo27 said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:03 pm

I think the Giants will swing a multi-player deal that brings back a veteran closer (Huston Street?) and possibly more…

    • zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:08 pm

      Andrew Miller! 🙂

  52. zumiee said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:06 pm

I’m sitting on the back porch in a reclining lawn chair, enjoying the cool breeze. The heat of the Valley day has finally gone. Drinking ice tea. The Giants with a 7 game lead. Great evening.

    • Paul Sorensen said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:10 pm

      Nice…..

    • chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:50 pm

Sounds awesome, Zume. Just got out of the hot tub after a Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy (decided a Moscow Mule was too much work after that game!). Nice breeze coming up the face of the ridge…loving it. Seven games…let’s make it twelve…

  53. chipower9 said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:51 pm

G’Night Flap Universe. Kick ass band, the Avett Brothers, on the Late Show tonight.

  54. eddacker said, on June 24, 2016 at 11:54 pm

G’Night, Chi, another awesome win tonight.

  55. sfsarge said, on June 25, 2016 at 9:20 am

Geez, I was at the game last night. Had the kids with me so I missed a lot of it. What a nailbiter. I don’t why I never realized how hard Osich threw. Every pitch over 95 there is some company that donates to Jr. Giants and they had something pop up on the scoreboard, that’s what dialed me in. Anyway, the 9th was a little too interesting for my taste, but I’m glad Casilla was able to get a B-Weezy type victory.
