58

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 26, 2016

There’s only ONE thing you can hold on to right now that doesn’t feel like total failure and despair. All those wins? All 58 of them….are in the bank. Nobody can touch them. And all the Giants can do is add to them. So we were built to withstand this type of nonsense where other teams who don’t have 58 in the bank would simply be watching their season slip away.

We need our real major league players back and we need some major league players who we we’ve never had yet. Gillaspe, Green, Pena, 40% of our starting rotation and an underwhelming bullpen ain’t gonna get it done.

This is not a bad penny year although I’m starting to wonder if Sabean isn’t keeping that one safely in his back pocket, at the ready.

    Nice.

    Fuck yeah, we needed that.

    • alleykat69 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:49 pm

WTF a 9 spot, even the Reds dugout is saying that!

  3. blade3colorado said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:43 pm

Great! A laughter shaping up. About time after the BS endured since the AS game.

I’m starting to buy into Flavor’s hot weather theory as an explanation for the East Coast flop…

    • Flavor said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:45 pm

thank you. It’s nice to get noticed.

      • Flavor said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:46 pm

by the way, it was positively lovely here today. And everyone in Ca is a pussy when it comes to weather.

    • blade3colorado said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:45 pm

Whew! I was beginning to believe that Peavy, Pena, Parker, Smarjashit, Cain, Green, etc., were shitty players.

Who knew? Weather was the culprit.

    • chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:50 pm

Hey, when it comes from Flav, and gets some traction with one of our right coasters, it is hard to argue the point. You can testify, Loo, it was HOT AS FUCK that Friday night in YankMee Stadium. You could seriously cut the humidity in the air with a knife. I cannot imagine playing in it (and you know it is hotter down on the field). Are the dugouts there really air conditioned?

    • willedav said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:50 pm

funny thing is man, i’m a little south of Flav and it was 95 here today and is supposed to stay that way til Friday.
Where Snarkk Unc and some of others Chi Zum live, probably 100. Of course, not at night games at ATT where fans are still bundled up.

  5. Carstie Clausen said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:45 pm

Heyyyyy. Even Crawdaddy’s back on track. Middle of the lineup was below/beneath horrendless right on through that steamy E.C. venture. Buster, Belt and Crawford getting it done and amazingly, Williamson suddenly taking to the 3 hole.

    • chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:51 pm

I was a big proponent of Parker to get more playing time between he and Mac, but Williamson keeps raking, and Parker will find it extremely hard to crack the LU, regularly.

  6. Flavor said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:50 pm

    River Cats
    ‏@RiverCats
.@hunterpence picks up his third hit on the night! He is now 3-for-5 in the game and 8-for-16 overall in his rehab assignment.

    • chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:53 pm

It has to be time to bring him up. I know they wanted to play him and Panik slow, but I think Pence is ready. A couple of more starts max for Sacto, max.

      • djloo27 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:56 pm

When Pence returns, does Mac get nailed to the bench?

      • muchosereno said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:17 pm

I read somewhere that the MDs decided to just excise Pence’s hamstring. Apparently, there are three HSs. One gets removed all the time to make TJ surgery possible. Expendable? Sort of like hamate bones, I guess. Anyway, removal of the entire thing is supposed to expedite recovery. Let’s hope so. Pray for the reverend.

  7. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:54 pm

When Pence and Panik come back, if they do, I’d DFA Blanco in a heartbeat to make room. He’s a virtual nothing offensively. His defensive prowess is not worth keeping Williamson and Parker off the active roster. Adios, and thanks…

    • chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:57 pm

Agree, snarkk. Gotta let those two play.

    • djloo27 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:58 pm

I think Blanco stays over Parker…

      • chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:59 pm

You’re probably right, Loo, but not what I want to see when it comes to that. Giants are sometimes loyal to their vets to a fault, IMO.

      • Lurker John said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:20 pm

        Moi aussi.

    • pawliekokonuts said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:04 pm

      disagree… jettison Parker

  8. chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:56 pm

Are you fucking kidding me?! The one guy out of the pen who has been pitching decent of late gives up yet ANOTHER bomb!

    • snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:01 pm

Duvall’s emergence as an offensive player tells me even more to DFA Blanco. Williamson and Parker need playing time to see if their upside can be actually achieved, and that a decision to cut their asses is not made prematurely. We know what Blanco can do. The team needs more than what he can give…

  9. wilcojoe said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:57 pm

    Trifecta Blade!

    • blade3colorado said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:06 pm

Yeah, that probably guaranteed me a “push” evening.

  11. chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:58 pm

Get the fuck out of here! Can someone get a fucking out, save a damned game, anything but give up fucking HRs like a whore giving it up on payday?!

  12. willedav said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:58 pm

Too funny. the words “..and he’s been throwing well..” and now Romo has given up 2 bombs.
What do you do with Romo after this year? Is he part of the plans or do they wave goodbye?

    • snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:02 pm

      Adios…

  13. sandog said, on July 26, 2016 at 9:59 pm

……and you guys wonder why Bochy was reluctant to automatically hand the game over to the bullpen in the top of the sixth!
That was a blast– not far from Galarraga territory

    • willedav said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:06 pm

After the Votto base hit Cain got a good fastball in on the hands and broke Bruce’s bat for flyout to RF.
I’m not blaming Bochy he hung a breaking ball to Duvall.

    • blade3colorado said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:09 pm

Yeah, even Bochy doesn’t know who to trust anymore. This putrid losing streak has him dumbfounded just like us.

  14. wilcojoe said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:03 pm

    Huge DP!

    • alleykat69 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:18 pm

Pawlie you know you need some aggravation from Casilla before you hit your pillow tonight..

  16. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:07 pm

These late innings thrown by Giants Pen dudes seem to last longer than a Bill Clinton speech, and aren’t near as good…

  17. Bozo said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:10 pm

Not the time to get tossed.

  18. djloo27 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:11 pm

  21. alleykat69 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:13 pm

I’ve seen worse pitches then that.
Fucking Pagan is a idiot at times and this was one of em. Cowboy Joe West doesn’t screw around with anyone, you will get tossed in a heartbeat.

    • djloo27 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:15 pm

Agree Kat – it was pretty close…

  22. chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:19 pm

  24. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:21 pm

  25. Lurker John said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:22 pm

Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle, chi, for the past 5 years or so I just assumed you lived in Chicago.

    • chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:32 pm

Huh? How’s that? Northern California for almost 40 years (since March of ’77). (Placerville – Old Hangtown, El Dorado County.)

      • Lurker John said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:33 pm

        The Chi in your handle.

  26. willedav said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:22 pm

Green likely sealed his doom tonight. Couple cheapo ribbies but not much more than dribblers and pop ups with all the ducks on the pond.

  27. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:23 pm

How can this squad score 9 and I still feel uneasy going into the top of the 9th?…

  28. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:28 pm

How can Casilla walk a guy when you are up 3? Seriously. Is he just friggin’ out to lunch, or what?…

  29. Macdog said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:30 pm

“That’s the last thing he was trying to do.” Really? Then throw a goddamn strike!

And now a single. Here we go….

  30. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:30 pm

        Lulz Blade!
That Lloyd Bridges clip is hilarious and totally me when Casllia comes in. There’s not enough drugs in my medicine cabinet to compensate his appearance on the mound.. I’m sure Bochy either downs a 5th are a couple bottles of wine before he goes to bed to shake off having to bring this guy in to close..

  32. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:33 pm

    Another unclean inning by Casilla…

  33. Lurker John said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:34 pm

Casilla continues to bolster Tums stock prices.

  34. Macdog said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:34 pm

      lol

  35. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:35 pm

I’d take Bruce in a heartbeat. Give up anybody in the minors — nobody there has proved anything yet…

    • chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:36 pm

I would be down with that…except I still think they should hang onto Arroyo.

A win, but like pulling a wisdom tooth sans the gas…

I was able to put my “Casilla Clear the Paddles Life Support Machine” away for a night!!!!

  44. chipower9 said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:41 pm

Okay, let’s get a little win streak going here. Big win tonight, as the damned bambinos won again. Those cocksuckers are like roaches. Well, I guess it helps them look good when you have gone 2-8 since the break.

    G’night, ladies. Sweet dreams.

  45. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:43 pm

Good news: the hitting is back.
Bad news: the Reds are hitting, too…

    • Carstie Clausen said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:46 pm

Guess who the Reds get to face tomorrow. Hint: We did not re-sign Timmy.

    • blade3colorado said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:52 pm

Good. Bad. What about the “Ugly?”

Cain still had a shit sandwich of a night . . . 5.1 innings, 4 earned runs, two bombs.

      • blade3colorado said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:54 pm

. . . and let’s not forget Romo – cha ching! Two bombs in his 1 inning of work.

      • Carstie Clausen said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:56 pm

Ahh, don’t beat on that Horse. Bochy should have pulled out the long-man to start the 6th. BTW: Guy has been outta the picture so long that a senior moment sagged my memory glands on his name.

    • snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:58 pm

I think Suarez is still in the Pen. Don’t know what Bochy is waiting for to use him for a long stint — like Petit wasting away last year…

  46. willedav said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:50 pm

Good night from middle of order/Belt in 6 spot vs. LHP, Span with couple hits and a walk.
Casilla gets the save, sac fly and a K from Votto and Bruce.

See if Posey is C for Bum tmw, day game after night game. He’s started both these 2 after the road trip.
He had good night at plate, stole 3b and scored on sac fly.
    That’s leading by example.

Props to the Reds too. These guys have lost almost as many games as the Braves had and given Giants 2 tough battles while whacking ball out the yard.

  47. snarkk said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:50 pm

Joe West is fat, a bad ump, has an overinflated ego, and walks like he’s got a major league case of piles…

  48. Carstie Clausen said, on July 26, 2016 at 10:53 pm

Don’t know how the E.C. Flappers do it, but here in CST flyover land it’s 12:47 AM. Worth it, though. Bit of a premonition again and wtf, Giants never gave up their lead and Reds never got closer than two down. Best couple things about the game was that the middle of the lineup regulars went on a bit of a rampage tonight and their conga-line trumped the Reds moonshots: Then we saw a strong five innings from Cain. Something about Willie Mays Field and the climate advantage even gets an old Horse native to Alabama back to whistling Dixie.

So it was worth staying up for this one. Hadn’t done much of that lately.

  49. Carstie Clausen said, on July 26, 2016 at 11:01 pm

Waiting in the wings: Starter Ty Blach, who leads the PCL in wins and has a reasonable ERA and Tyler Rogers, a reliever whom i’ve cited a few times lately. Bullpen has been like a ’52 pickup card game lately. Needs a bit of stiffening and solidifying of role assignments as well. To my way of looking at it, Bochy uses up Law rather a bit early in most games. He strikes me as a 7th or 8th inning guy.

  50. alleykat69 said, on July 26, 2016 at 11:16 pm

    Wow a real “Ball Breaker”
Romario Pena day to day with a contusion on his testical…

  51. bassbaldy said, on July 26, 2016 at 11:53 pm

Hoping Bum is in a nasty mood tomorrow, we really need to win this series here at home because after this things get rough.

Seven games against the Nats in the next week. They’ve not been playing well lately and it would be just like us to be accommodating in helping them get their groove back. In the 4 home games against the Nats we will have only one competent starting pitcher: Johnny C.

Then it’s the dreaded spin out East. I’m wishing we had a bit more of a cushion going into this upcoming phase.

After that comes what will probably be the toughest home stand of the year: O’s, Pirates & Mets. The Pirates series should be interesting. If the rotation order maintains we will be throwing Smardge, Peavy & Cain at ’em. Ugh!
