Hitless in Miami

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 8, 2016

Miami has the worst VMI on the board today so I’m not too worried about them hitting Cueto. I am genuinely worried about Fernandez throwing a no hitter against us. So if we can somehow scratch out a run or two, I think we’re good.

I’m 100% over the Kelly thing. At least for yesterday, he wasn’t the reason we lost. But I think we could all envision a scenario where he costs a game in the post season.

I’m rock solid on not watching any Olympics yet. I was in a bar and accidentally looked at the screen but I’m not counting that since I didn’t watch it. Someone was in the pool. That’s not enough info to ding me out of the contest (I don’t think, ruling?????).

I really want to watch a gif of that dude breaking his leg but haven’t done it yet since I think that would definitely oust me. Maybe after all of this ends…..

    6 hits!!!!! Go craw daddy!

  2. Macdog said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:00 pm

    Wow, Craw smokin’ it tonight.

  3. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:02 pm

I like how craw was not looking for jelly at the bag.

Fucking pence needs to fucking hit the ball.

    • zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:04 pm

Good call by Kuiper: Pence is just desperately trying to make contact.

  4. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:03 pm

    Annnnnnnnnnd pffffffffffft

  5. wilcojoe said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:03 pm

Of all the Giants to leave off my stack its fucking Crawford. By the way Flav, the guy in line to win the $50k has a five man Giants stack. I had to swallow hard just to take four.

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:11 pm

that’s hilarious. All under 2% as I thought except Posey at 3%

  6. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:04 pm

Why won’t my phone let me type Kelly?

    • zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:05 pm

      Jelly was good.

  7. Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:05 pm

Here you go, Nunie, money time.

  8. zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:06 pm

This is some wacky stuff by Mattingly.

  9. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:06 pm

Or not. Bummie up there to win it.

  10. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:07 pm

Yeah walking the bags full is odd.

  11. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:09 pm

I’m chewing snakes watching this game.

  12. wilcojoe said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:09 pm

I just saw the Filipino dive video you posted Flav. That’s the best thing I have seen all year. Their expressions mid dive are priceless.

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:10 pm

that was one of the funniest fucking things I have EVER seen on twitter. As I said, I got sucked into the tag line and thought it was going to be some perfect boring ass dive. And then those 2 go out there and do that. It was epic, classic gold.

  13. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:09 pm

Another scoring chance “Up in Smoke”
    Cheech&Chong!!!
It just isn’t gonna happen tonight..

  14. Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:09 pm

I’m not one for giving up but at least point, I don’t see how they win this game.

  15. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:12 pm

I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:13 pm

G’s have just blown too many chances. At some point, esp on the road, you run out of chances.

  16. Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:16 pm

Alright, consider me relaxed. Moving on…

  17. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:17 pm

If the Giants pitchers can sail through the 13th, this’ll go 23 innings with all kinds of weird shit, such as position players pitching.

  18. Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:17 pm

Well, outside of Smith, the bullpen has been great. That’s a good sign.

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:18 pm

yeah. Even if they blow it now so be it. They were fantastic tonight. Except that fucking reliever.

  19. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:18 pm

    Wotus looks frightened.

  20. Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:19 pm

I’m watching the Fillipino video during the commercials to keep me chilled out

  21. Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:19 pm

Craw has raised his batting average 11 points so far in this game. That’s pretty phenomenal this late in the season.

  22. Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:22 pm

Span with 3 hits and 3 runs scored and a SB so far.

  23. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:22 pm

Will Smith “looks” good but is dreadful. Must be the name. In ’87 the flamboyantly acrobatic Ozzie Smith made an error in the playoffs and a Giants player, maybe Krukow, wisecracked, “But he looks good.”

  24. Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:23 pm

This team is just snake bit right now

  25. Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:23 pm

Have they moved the 2nd base bag or something? It’s like it’s 100 feet between first and second tonight.

  26. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:23 pm

I am putting it out there. If anyone goes to AT&T on 8/19 and gets that Beatles shirt, I am offering to purchase it.

  27. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:24 pm

Even when they do shit right it doesn’t work!

  28. gianthead said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:24 pm

I think we have all had our frustrations with Belt this season. Just checked his WAR numbers and he is #1 in all of baseball for Defensive WAR and #3 in mlb for Offensive WAR, behind only Cabrera and Rizzo…I was pretty surprised…

  29. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:25 pm

Span looked safe. Ugggggggh. Belt needs to go Nats on ’em.

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:29 pm

PK still hanging in there, nice. East coast reppin’

      • gianthead said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:33 pm

This is just the eighth game in the last 103 years in which the Giants have had at least 17 hits and 10 walks. http://bbref.com/pi/shareit/eafXD

  31. zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:27 pm

Will Smith….that pitch he threw that got whacked for the RBI single was a lazy slop hanging breaking pitch in a crucial situation. A total garbage pitch.

    • zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:29 pm

That AAA guy that got sent down was pitching better. The guy that struck out Harper. I can’t remember his name at the moment.

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:29 pm

until he does something even one time to help the team win I will continue to refer to him as “that fucking reliever”

  32. Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:31 pm

Henry Schulman ‏@hankschulman 4m4 minutes ago
If you’re wondering, there have been two seven-hit games since 1913..Rocky Colavito (DET) in 1962, Johnny Burnett (nine hits for CLE) in ’32

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:32 pm

actually I don’t think Schulman is correct. Rennie Stennett had 7 hits in a game once. He did it in 9 innings, too

      • djloo27 said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:34 pm

        How about Cesar Gutierrez?

      • Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:35 pm

good call by both of us:
Henry Schulman ‏@hankschulman 5m5 minutes ago
There actually were two other guys with seven hits..Rennie Stennett and Cesar Gutierrez. #SFGiants

      • Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:37 pm

        I remember Stennett’s game.

  33. gianthead said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:31 pm

And sadly…out of qualified CF in the NL only…Span finishes 8 out of 9 in both offensive and defensive WAR at .3 and -.8 respectively. That sucks…

    • zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:33 pm

Yeah, his defense was over-sold to Giants fans.

    • chipower9 said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:36 pm

Uh, I think we have known that ol’ Graybeard sucks for a while, now. They need to sit his ass down, and then when he plays, he hits 8th or 9th.

  34. Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:34 pm

Cashner looks like a dope sans beard

  35. Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:34 pm

  43. Flavor said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:38 pm

I don’t want to see Lopez. Just let Kontos finish it, he’s pitching very well

  44. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:38 pm

Ok. Who is more valuable to this team right now than Bcraw?

    • chipower9 said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:39 pm

      Nadda.

    • Lurker John said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:40 pm

    • pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:03 pm

This atones for that 2 am loss to the Dodgers….was it last year??? Yeah. We had Marlon Byrd.

  64. chipower9 said, on August 8, 2016 at 9:48 pm

A game for the ages, for both the club, and especially for B-Craw! The home grown kid gets it done!

    G’night, girls.

  66. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:02 pm

We needed this. No, not sort-of needed. NEEDED. Teams that are champions always have a win like this. Remember that game with the Uribe HR against L.A.? We needed this in the portfolio to qualify as a potential champion team.

    • snarkk said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:20 pm

      Yeah, Pawlie.
I remember that 2010 game. One of the best, most meaningful reg season games in SF history. That Uribe dinger was Epic…

I wanted this mother more than any game I can remember (probably going back to the clinching moment of the 2014 championship. Champions’ Blood!

  67. xoot said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:03 pm

I think the big O Austrian ping pong team was on for a while, and I’m pulling for them, but no way I was going to check. Wtf could turn away from this game? Why was the 3B dirt so effing muddy when Buster “slid”? Anyway, no broken finger for Posey, no broken face for Pence, and no broken rhythm for Crawford. Too many RISP left on, but just enough scored to win. Casilla looked good. Kontos sure has his moments.

    • pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:04 pm

      well put

  68. snarkk said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:03 pm

    No question…

  69. Macdog said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:05 pm

Somehow, someway, still in first. What a game by Craw.

  70. snarkk said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:11 pm

Ya gotta give it to this squad.
They could have laid down like dogs with all that stuff going against them.
    But, NO.
They stayed with it. The Pen tightened up, big time.
    Craw with a career game.
Posey slinging some lightning strikes to second.
    Bunts and steal attempts, too.
    Absolute gut check win.
This game shows why baseball is the best sport…

  71. Macdog said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:17 pm

7 hits, even in extra innings, is just mind-blowingly epic. I wonder how many times this season the Giants collectively haven’t gotten 7 hits for an entire game?

  72. xoot said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:25 pm

slightly more than 6 years ago Donnie Two Trips earned his name in a game that showed us just how tough the 2010 team could be. Lincecum got knocked around and out, and the bums took a big lead. But the Giants fought back. Bochy’s skill helped a lot, of course. Hope he’s doing ok tonight. This is still his team.

    • zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:38 pm

Yeah, the comeback in that game started when Lincecum drilled Kemp with a pitch. It started a chain of events that led to Torre getting thrown out and Donnie managing for the rest of the game.

  73. pawliekokonuts said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:33 pm

    I can’t calm down. Good thing I don’t have a job job.

  74. willedav said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:38 pm

Giants pitchers only walked 2 guys all night and only 1 (Kontos next to last out) in final 9 innings.

Meanwhile Mattingly is intentionally walking 2 guys in an inning. Unreal.

    • zumiee said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:41 pm

And did it twice! If he keeps doing that, it’s going to blow up a few times on him.

      • Macdog said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:48 pm

I almost expected him to walk Craw and pitch to Pence.

    • xoot said, on August 8, 2016 at 10:53 pm

Kontos threw a great swing-over slider to get strike two on that walk, but then couldn’t get a bite on the full count pitch. Still, he did well, overall. Donnie TT’s IBBs to Panik didn’t hurt, did they? Panik walked 4 times tonight and didn’t score at all.

  75. snarkk said, on August 8, 2016 at 11:48 pm

    434 posts for one day/game?
Is that a record for the Flap?…

  76. chipower9 said, on August 9, 2016 at 7:20 am

Holy shit. I am still dancing on cloud nine this morning! The euphoric effect is synonymous with those feelings I experienced after our boys won it all in ’10, ’12, and ’14.

I said it a few times earlier: I cannot remember wanting a game as badly as I wanted this one! I had been at the brewery with my homeboys at the “old guy table,” and left while we were down 5-1. Had to make a quick stop at the store, and then went home to grill some grub. I turn on the boob tube in my garage and our boys had just tied it. Needless to say, I did not miss a pitch rest of the way.

Wow…what a monumental come-back and win – for the team, for B-Craw, for Bochy!

CHAMPIONS’ BLOOD! Four in Seven! Humm Baby – Let’s Do It Again!

  77. chipower9 said, on August 9, 2016 at 7:40 am

Have not heard any follow-up, but my thoughts are with Bochy for a speedy recovery. Hope the synopsis from yesterday was correct (that he anticipated being back with the club today).
