Ignition Time

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 23, 2016

I’m not even going to look at the O/U number and go out on a limb and say take the under tonight.

This is when guys like Nunie, Moore and that fucking lefty reliever need to step up and realize they aren’t playing meaningless baseball anymore.

If a Giants/Dodgers series doesn’t get these guys going I am concerned that nothing will.

Here’s the deal: I don’t think the Dodgers are very good. Their starting pitching sucks. If we pitch them into submission, which is totally possible, I will be very disappointed if we don’t score enough runs to win at least 2 of these games.

Nunez got caught stealing Sunday vs. Thor. Can’t blame Bochy for trying, but dang he’s the one guy I thought could get it done.

  2. gianthead said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:37 pm

Had to be a botched hit and run…Panik was looking straight back at Bum at half speed and Nunez didn’t seem to start off at full speed…

  3. zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:38 pm

Maeda throws a lot of pitches per batter; he never goes all that deep into games.

    • zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:38 pm

Well, that describes all their current starting pitchers.

no one sweats better on a hot day at the Public House than TedSpe. His sweat goes nowhere, it defies fucking gravity, it’s sits there on his forehead like he he begging you to fight, daring you to fuck with him…I fucked with the sweat………

  5. djloo27 said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:40 pm

Giants gonna win this game easy….

  6. pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:41 pm

This just in from Tedspe: “Hahaha. too funny. I’m still waiting for a bus to get home”

And he does recall The Mop Brow Incident.

    • Flavor said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:44 pm

tell him to turn that sweat into some kind of sustainable energy that gets his ass back here and saves the season.

  7. Flavor said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:43 pm

Barbara Eden turned 85 today. That is just….unacceptable.

  8. willedav said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:44 pm

I think the idea was, stay out of the DP and if you can get Nunez to 3b Bum might be able to deliver sac fly.
Maeda mostly is junkyard dog, lot of off speed and the fastball is upper 80s.
And yes Flav, I’m with you on Belt. The ks bug me-it’s either the above the hands fastball or the change up.
First half he was fine, second he’s in a world of hurt.

Bum looks a little pissed, wipes them out.

Ted is a great guy. Last Flap meet up I was at First and Main poor guy got lost as F going to the Gf’s house in SanJose and then trying to get back to the City.

  9. pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:45 pm

did Kuip really have to mention Marvin Benard?

  10. Flavor said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:47 pm

    Span does less than Spam.

    • willedav said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:52 pm

Fair enough. so how do you feel about the guys doing less than Span, cause second half there’s a lot of them, right?

  11. willedav said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:51 pm

Yeah f-ing pull the ball! Do that at home you can hit HRs.
Loo on fire, called that one.

  12. pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:51 pm

It feels like 2 a.m. already.

      You mean it’s not Pawlie????
      I’m drifting..

this game’s pissing me off so far. As to “lulz,” I believe DJLoo introduced it here about a year back, more or less. He posted a comment predicting that we would see gay-themed viagra or cialis tv ads within a year, and I replied with something about vacations to SE Asia. He replied “lulz.” First I’d ever seen it. He used it some more and someone asked about it and he explained and a tradition began.

As the 65 year old father of a 19 year old, I’m sympathetic to both the neck/back pain and physical therapy and MRI horror stories and the parental concern stories. The golf stuff, however, I can’t get into. Pretty soon, you’ll have memory lapses. Oh, wait. lulz!

    Belt!

    • djloo27 said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:54 pm

Xoot: Lulz was introduced by dirtrocksnreno, I believe. I was just mimicking it. I didn’t know what it was at the time…

    • pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:55 pm

You and I share common terrain: 67, with a 19yo.
But a 50yo sometimes maybe sorta unofficial GF. For today. Maybe.

      • xoot said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:46 pm

a 50 yo GF? so you have the neck/back pain PT MRI ordeals too?

  15. blade3colorado said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:55 pm

I knew Belt would come through. He always does when Chi or I criticize him. Tonight, it was Flavor. The dude has extrasensory perception and obviously is tuned into the Flap.

    • blade3colorado said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:58 pm

I think Belt has Schizophrenia . . . What’s the old saying? Schizophrenia is hearing voices, not doing voices.

    • gianthead said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:59 pm

Keep it up then…Pence also sucks…OK he did suck there

      • blade3colorado said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:01 pm

I swear it always works with Belt. Pence doesn’t have ESP, so no effect. Ha.

  16. snarkk said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:56 pm

Just out of a Thai restaurant in Phoenix, was watching the Flap in the middle of my Nid Prow Yuk or whatever. Heading out onto Indian School Road, and listening to a scratchy KNBR on the car radio…

    • blade3colorado said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:05 pm

That’s amazing snarkk, but apparently, not unusual. I remember hearing KNBR’s signal near Redding and in Nevada. I was so curious about what you just posted that I wanted to know the distance record for an AM signal . . . I cut and pasted this post from a Ham Radio blog:

“If by AM you mean signals in the .7 to 1.8 Mhz range, they can go around the world in good conditions. At slightly higher frequencies it’s not too uncommon for a ham sending CW to hear his own signals back in his receiver after they circle the earth. They are weak of course and conditions need to be ideal. It’s certainly not an every day, or evening actually, occurrence”

      • pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:07 pm

I put this in my new book: from Connecticut, we’d pick up games on AM in STL, ATL, CHI, PITT…..

  17. djloo27 said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:59 pm

Jesus, Pence is missing fat ones…

    • zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:01 pm

I keep expecting him to crush one of those and it just doesn’t happen.

    • willedav said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:05 pm

You know if Parker had been brought up I’d have sat Pence before Span.

  18. zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 8:59 pm

    Pence, that’s rough.

  19. pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:00 pm

Shit. Pence should’ve bunted. Why not.

  20. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:02 pm

He and Belt have had more 2′ misses these last 3 weeks than the entire team all season.

Fuck Bummie. Get through a fucking inning.

Yikes. Lots of old buildings there.

    • blade3colorado said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:10 pm

6.1 I heard. No idea about the damage. Hope it’s minimal.

Kiki might’ve hurt himself on that Utley move.

  23. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:10 pm

    Bummie can’t find his fastball.

  24. djloo27 said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:13 pm

    • blade3colorado said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:14 pm

      He hesitated on the ball.

  25. pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:13 pm

Uh-oh. Here’s the game on the line.

  26. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:15 pm

    Pffffffffffffffffft.

  27. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:16 pm

Nunie doesn’t get an out even if he gets it clean. This is onBummie all the way.

  28. pawliekokonuts said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:17 pm

It really wasn’t just Gonzalez’s hit; it was everything that led to that.

  29. zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:17 pm

Bum came up small tonight. Dodgers’ offense has been on a tear in the second half, and he didn’t slow them down.

  30. zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:19 pm

Have to make something happen against the Dodger bullpen. Totally possible.

    • willedav said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:25 pm

yeah this first guy Chavez is an A’s reject.
K says he’s got great stuff—with a 4.50 ERA and LH batting .329 off him.

  31. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:28 pm

That goes down as looking brilliant.

  32. willedav said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:29 pm

I’ll give Bochy props there for not giving up on Nunez and running game. That SB plus Panik’s productive out put him on 3b where Triple O bloops one in.

  33. zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:29 pm

OOO with the productive bloop. It works!

Miller’s letting him have it too, and you know Kruk would never do that.

  36. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:41 pm

Boy oh boy. Bochy has Slim and None in the pen.

  37. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:42 pm

    Wow. This blows.

  38. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:42 pm

I gues a couple more runs won’t matter.

  39. mrsprtdude said, on August 23, 2016 at 9:57 pm

Huge game and we came out like shit. Grr. Mad Bum hasen’t beaten the Dodgers since last august. 5th start against them since…

  40. zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:11 pm

Maybe a bunch of Giants got hooked on heroin during the All Star break.
    Just kidding.
    Or am I?!
    (Yes, just kidding)

    • tedspe said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:21 pm

      I’ve always questioned Cain

  41. unca_chuck said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:15 pm

So much for ignition. Just left sitting on the line.

  44. tedspe said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:18 pm

Took me about 1 1/2 freaking hours to get back here. Considering how long I’ve been gone…shouldn’t really bitch

    • snarkk said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:22 pm

Hey Ted, welcome back. Now hurry up and do something to wake up this sad sack squad!!… 🙂

Rooster must be trying desperately to peck his way out of Flavor’s spam filter…

    • tedspe said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:23 pm

Rooster? Is that a ‘Baretta’ joke? Or have I been gone too long?

      • djloo27 said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:28 pm

Hey Ted. Good to see you.
Rooster’s the Dodger fan who shows up here when they’re doing well, then goes out to dinner for 2 years when they flop…

      • tedspe said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:29 pm

And why is it djloo27? Is the 27 required?

      • djloo27 said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:33 pm

I think I couldn’t get djloo by itself for some reason and I had to add to it.
        It was very stressful…

  46. tedspe said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:26 pm

  48. blade3colorado said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:27 pm

Well, us Colorado folk are hitting the sack after that stake in the heart. Pfffttt!

Ted, it’s good to see you here . . . Hope you are well!

    • tedspe said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:30 pm

Hiya blade. Well enough to be my usual post All-Star annoyed. How are ya kid?

      • blade3colorado said, on August 24, 2016 at 7:57 am

. . . Just woke up. Game was too depressing. I’m doing fine Ted. Taking off for SE Asia in a few weeks and will be there for 3 months.

  49. snarkk said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:27 pm

If Texas can dump Hamilton today with $30 million left on his deal, then the giants should be able to do the same thing with Cain, per blade’s earlier post..

    • djloo27 said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:30 pm

I think they just don’t want to disrespect or embarrass Cain after all he contributed to 2 of the championships…

    • tedspe said, on August 23, 2016 at 10:41 pm

Didn’t see blade’s post but totally agree. I’ve said for years Cain wouldn’t have survived as a starter anywhere else but SF. Giving up the long ball since day one. Just lucky for the park he played in. And no one argue me with “perfect game” bull crap. Unless you strike out 27 in a row or have a shitload of comebackers, perfect games ain’t one man shows
But I digress. How about that new Mustang? What a honey.
Gotta go. Have to memorize lines (probably shoulda started hours ago but…you know…Giants game. Have it on in the back with the sound off)
      Night gentlmen, question mark

  52. zumiee said, on August 23, 2016 at 11:45 pm

The Cubs are 35 games over .500. That’s pretty impressive.

    • unca_chuck said, on August 24, 2016 at 8:31 am

That and $7.50 gets you a double caff sugar free vanilla latte from Starbucks.

Until they win it all, pffffffffffft.

  53. pawliekokonuts said, on August 24, 2016 at 9:43 am

I doubt I will watch tonight. For my mental health. TedSpe returned! Yay.
