A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Engage Operation EYB

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 5, 2016

I loved last night’s game. Even the strikeouts. As the game wore on it became a game to watch within the game. Good thing I wasn’t playing a drinking game. All those k’s would have sent me to the ER. And who doesn’t enjoy a walk off? There are critics of the wild card format but I’m not one of them. An instant Game 7 to kick off the post season? That is fantastic. And if the WC teams or the fans grouse about only getting one game here’s an idea: win your damn division.

My A’s fan buddy, The Boney One, texted me at 4:32am today looking for my prediction on the game tonight. I just texted back “excitement” and left it at that. It’s the bare minimum of what we all get today and into tonight.

Even if they lose, I’m pretty content just getting to this game. How did the worst team in baseball make the post season? Think about that. And it’s not even arguable, with stats or your own eyeballs, that we weren’t the worst team in all of mlb in the second half of the season.

But here we are. I’m down with a crazy 3 week run. I don’t expect it but I also didn’t expect the 2014 flag and that’s flying like a boss right now.

So whatever, no expectations. But I’m confident because of who’s taking the hill. Excitement is definitely in the air. On the east side of the Dumbarton Bridge there are salt ponds. Savy locals know when it’s time to roll up the window. I hope NY fans know what’s up but there’s only so much they can do to withstand the EYB that’s wafting towards Citi Field right now. It’s coming and it’s even and it’s bullshit and so far (engage knowing dude head nod) no one has been able to stop it……

I will NEVER get tired of seeing the faces of vanquished opponents as they blankly and unbeliEVENably stare out onto the field after yet another Giants post-season win.

Wow! That is unreal. And DracuLOO was there representing FU! How fucking cool is that?!

  18. alleykat69 said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:00 pm

Funny how Postseason takes all of the Bochy health issues go away..
    He thrives for this shit!
He looked totally relaxed after sweeping the Dodgers to get in and it’s caring over in the postseason with a team nobody wants to face with our track record..

  19. James said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:02 pm

We’re visiting friends in France, so it was a 2 AM start time and the ESPN video stream on the phone. The loudest whispered exclamations ever in the ninth. I think I may finally get a little shut eye now. Glad the season will still be going when we return.

  20. chipower9 said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:05 pm

  21. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:08 pm

Meanwhile, back at the MLB page, they’ve got one video posted: Thor’s 10th strikeout. Ha.

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:09 pm

Oh nevermind, they just added some actual Giants highlights… .

    • chipower9 said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:10 pm

Great interviews on CSNBA. I am sure they will all be posted online.

  22. pawliekokonuts said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:09 pm

At 10:14 ET I texted Dennis Zucchino at Finnerty’s: “I predict a big hit from Gillaspie or Pagan.” And I see others here had similar intuition, or dumb luck. What my Mets fans don’t get, but the world is slowly catching on to, is that the SF Giants take on another hue, another persona, in the postseason. Doomer Pawlie hugging hope!

    • chipower9 said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:10 pm

Nice, Pawlie. Intuition, luck, EYB…take your pic Mr. Kokonuts…any way you slice it, it is SPECIAL!

  23. chipower9 said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:09 pm

Pence is talking about how special it is to be a part of this team…I feel the same way about the FU. Boys, we have built some damned good friendships over many years, and over many Giant games…it truly is a special place full of kick-ass folk. Big hug for ya, Loo! And thanks, Craig, again…for making it all possible!

anyway yours isn’t important, I had mine first.
      EYB
Hope ti was a good one, mate and best wishes for this next spin around the sun.

  29. pawliekokonuts said, on October 5, 2016 at 9:25 pm

My daughter said I was surprisingly calm. I lounged fairly quietly on a love seat. Three Mets fans and a dog wearings Mets regalia. Adrianna wearing Bumgarner jersey. Me with my Finnerty’s 2013 game bus shirt. BOOM. I say, FUCKIN BOOM. The two Mets dudes, dear friends of mine, exploded and imploded. They were going wild over the bad calls. In quotes. Well, the HP ump was inconsistent. Oddly, Adrianna just starting laughing, giggling, at the HR. I laughed with her. My poor friends. They don’t quite understand EYB. But who the fuck does?! Poor Adri just texted me, asking if it means we are in the Series. I told her, you would’ve seen me whooping it up.

    • chipower9 said, on October 5, 2016 at 10:10 pm

Great story, Pawlie! Sounds like a piece of another/future Kokonuts book!

Tell Adrianna “7” is the magic number to get in, but 11 is the “real magic number.”

      Just Win…

The double by Crawford and the walk by Panik were big. Hey, Bruce Bochy is a fecking genius again. (Why did Casilla make the roster?)

    • chipower9 said, on October 5, 2016 at 10:15 pm

Agree on the Panik walk, and Craw’s gapper started it…and damned good question about Casilla. Maybe he is there for any mop-up work?

  33. chipower9 said, on October 5, 2016 at 10:13 pm

It goes without saying that Conor’s shot was huge, but Panik’s walk was just as big, IMO. If Panik is retired there, Gillespie gets walked, and Bochy probably PHs for Bum.

  34. snarkk said, on October 5, 2016 at 11:45 pm

Similar to what someone above said somewhere, this squad has been a real ride since 2010. I waited well over 40 years of fandom to see my first championship with this team, now it’s given me 3 in 6 years. I can honestly say the last half decade was worth the long, long walk in the wilderness. Now, this game tonight is just another in this last 6+ years of the team’s exciting and winning ways. I got a best of Sinatra album for my Bday tonight, and one of the cuts is “My Kind of Town (Chicago Is)”. I’m thinking the Giants may like that song in the next few days…

  35. mrsprtdude said, on October 5, 2016 at 11:53 pm

Had a late meeting. watched the game on tape even though my phone blew up so i figured we won!!
Craig called it yesterday. Mere mortals vs a god!
Mad bum was taking a nap on the bus to the stadium! Are you freakin kidding???
Only pitcher in MLB to have 2 winner take all shutouts. Count the final six innings in 14 WS game 7 and it all adds up to the best post season pitcher ever.
Now imagine the Cubs. Mad Bum ready for game 3 in SF. If we split in Chicago they are screwed! Yes the pressure is now all on them…Thanks a million thanks to Craig for giving us the opportunity to connect with our fellow Giants fans. These wins are all the sweeter because of flappers!!!

  36. sfsarge said, on October 6, 2016 at 4:43 am

So I was wrong about Thor. He straight dealt. Flavor, man your thread was even more brilliant the way that game unfolded. Even. Year. Bullsh…. I wore my champion blood T-shirt yesterday and it fit. I may just have to wear it for the rest of the playoffs.

    • chipower9 said, on October 6, 2016 at 6:27 am

Sarge – I have a “Steal Your Face” Giants/Dead shirt that I wore throughout the 2010 ride…all the way to winning their first in CA. I can relate, brother!

  37. djloo27 said, on October 6, 2016 at 5:24 am
