One Final Stix Moment
Here’s the most recent retro thing I can post regarding Stix:
I received this letter yesterday from our captivating captive. Two sides, front and back. Doubt you can read it so I’ll hit the high points. The most obvious first impression is the hand drawn leaf wreath thing he drew around the periphery of the first page. I appreciated the time it took to do that. He made a quick mention of his case basically saying he was going to argue that with “2 buzzings in my face at 100-120 feet caused me to snap–temporarily”. I can’t wait to hear what XOOT and Snarkk think about that defense. Seems legit to me.
He went on to effusively thank whoever is sending him the books and would love additional reading materials. My impression is that he doesn’t get to know who sends them as he said “looks like another Flapper musta been the source for Alan Black’s “Kick the Balls”. As I’m reading it, he’s received at least 3 or 4 books from you guys. He spent page 2 of the letter talking about some of his favorite moments from the books and re-affirming his love of the Giants and this community.
Whatever your feelings are about Stix and the 2 months I spent “honoring” his past posts you gotta admit that it’s pretty cool how this all unfolded. Grass roots Giants fans in action supporting one in need.
Can’t argue much against that.
Agreed. He almost is uplifting with that letter. Send more books as you can read a lot in lockup. I think Chi knows the address.
Flavor, as an aside, the missing photo of the 2012 WS ring has been on my mind. I have a ring photo; if that helps. It is here:

Nice to hear that he is staying positive and not dwelling on his predicament. If you get a chance Flavor, scan and print the other side. Thanks in advance.
Yeah, i’ll pop pg 2 up tomorrow.
Very cool and props to everyone who has tried to help poor Stix out.
while I’m at it, I’ve been on opposite side of views of Flav for a while lately–Trumbo Nunez Rajai Turner yada yada–but what goes on here and the Blog he keeps rolling is truly amazing.
Posts from around the world, not just around the country, talking about everything under the sun and even rival organizations like Cardinals.
Meet ups far and wide, including Flap guys going to NYC and other corners of America, East Coast and SoCal/Central Valley out here, watching ball games and hanging out.
Now helping out a guy in prison through the mutual connection to Giants baseball.
Agreed.
Just saw a story on F/G about book by John D’Acquisto “Fastball John”. Column has a brief interview with him featuring tidbits that definitely include time with Giants.
Book is 500 pages long, but according to reviewer goes really fast. Sounds interesting.
Didn’t he use to post here? Or was that the Splash?
That’s a fairly awesome letter.
I really enjoyed the Stix RPOTD posts, thanks for including them this winter, Flav.
#freestix!
Is that really a hand drawn wreath or does the prison buy holiday themed stationary for their inmates? If it’s hand drawn, that’s very impressive. Much better effort than his SF logo.
hand drawn.
Yeah I’m impressed with Stix if he hand drawn those Christmas wreaths with such detail, hell I can’t even draw a decent stick person!!

Oops for the double post!
Ah hell make it a double anyway it’s happy hour somewhere..
I guess it’s possible he had his celly draw it for him. Or some criminal who owes him big time but was fresh out of smokes to pay him off. Lol. I imagine Stix running the show inside the big house even if it’s not true.
Cool letter from Stix; thanks for posting it.
I’d encourage him to show much remorse in his trial, but he may not be inclined to do that.
Gotta disagree on that, Zum.
Remorse is something you fake during sentencing – not when trying to prove your innocence…
The ’12 ring photo on the Flap is missing on my devices, too. I wonder what happened to it.
the link goes to a slideshow of 2012 and 2013 ring ceremony at the Card’s game. But a couple of the photos are missing. The ring photo is one of them.
Nice tribute by Baggs for a forgotten player.

The article fails to mention Spencer’s most notorious home run (I think) in this bizarre game:

Note: This game marked the only major league appearance of Nick Testa – the real Moonlight Graham, who is still alive. Why isn’t Pawlie chasing him???

the link to the 2012 ring must be broken. I’ll see if I can find a new one.
I gotta hook Stix up.
Can I bother someone (Chi?) for the address one more time?
Sorry to be a pain in the ass…
I believe I see it now at the top of his amazing letter…
RE: Snarkk’s POTD, coach Kunt always struck me as a phony scumbag…
Stix described his defense facts in the first letter to Chi, and this summary in the letter to Big Flavor is consistent with the first account. I would never express anything but honest support for him and his case. I’m on his side. It’s an adversarial system. But again, note that as he explains his defense it appears to pivot on his own testimony. I’m not so sure the federal court jury in St. Paul/Minneapolis will be as receptive to Stix’s plea as a local jury of his peers back in Clearwater County might be. But I wish the best for him.
After his hearing next Monday I’ll check the docket for a ruling from the court and send a pdf copy to Chi and Flavor. The trial date may be in that ruling, along with some other interesting stuff.
