    George Foster?

  2. sandog said, on February 2, 2017 at 6:42 am

    Derrell Thomas?

  3. Flavor said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:00 am

no to both but I really like Kat’s guess. Those side burns were very “Foster-esque”. San Dawg has TEXTED me the correct answer but he had already guessed DT. That brings me to an important rule going forward: you get one guess. Don’t keep firing off guesses. You miss on your first guess, you’re out for the guy currently posted.

  4. Flavor said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:10 am

and here’s another rule: If no one is getting it I reserve the right to switch it out to another guy. I like searching for and cropping these dudes up.

    Rufus T. Firefly?

  6. chipower9 said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:16 am

Only 12 daze until pitchers and catchers report.

Only 22 daze until Giants ST baseball is on the air.

    Giddy up!

  7. Bozo said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:22 am

    Willie McCovey

  8. Bozo said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:32 am

I guess the first sign that you have a series problem, is when you decide to spend $50 bucks to have an $8 King cake shipped to you overnight. It does come with some cheap plastic beads, so I’ve got that going for me.

  9. unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:38 am

Yesterday was much easier with the lefty glove in the pic.

Could be Von Joshua? Whoever it is does look like McCovey AND Foster.

  10. Lurker John said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:39 am

Chuckles got it again, it is indeed Von Joshua.

    • Lurker John said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:42 am

He was with the G’s in ’75 and 76′. Not much run production but a good average hitter. I remember him now that his name has been mentioned. Good pull, Flav.

Your pissing me off Chuck you clown šŸ¤”

  12. willedav said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:52 am

These are pretty funny. Joshua was one of those guys who played for Dodgers and Giants too, right?
those sideburns are awesome. Did Mac ever have that look?
Loo what is the connection you mentioned with Thomasson and ’78 series?

    • Bozo said, on February 2, 2017 at 8:32 am

In the early 70s Willie Mac was sporting some series sideburns.

  13. Flavor said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:59 am

Chuck wins again. And it’s a bonus win because I was worried he’d turn up dead and lifeless in Pittsburg last night. I’ll pop another one up later this morning.

    • willedav said, on February 2, 2017 at 8:22 am

I think that’s more like Antioch, but way cool he went by O’Douls and that is a sad story being fought out in the courts over all the memorabilia etc.

I looked up 78 Series quickly on B/R, won by Yanks and Reggie with 4 Ws after losing first 2. Dent got the MVP and Davey Lopes hit 3 HRs for LA, as many as entire Yanks team. Pitchers did not bat in this one either. Thomasson went 1 for 4 for Yanks…

  14. unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2017 at 8:36 am

It was touch and go for a while. Luckily a homeless guy crashed out next to me and his stench revived me by the time I got to Bay Point.

Here’s Big Mac with the stylin’ sideburns. I forgot he was with the A’s as a DH. . .

Notice Dave Winfield in the background. I like those Padre uniforms and they sometimes still wear them in throwback games. Jack Murphy/Qualcomm Stadium as well, which could get the wrecking ball treatment before long with the Chargers now gone. This pic was before they did their own Mt Davis stadium addition to get the Super Bowl one freaking time. The old Murph was a nice place to watch a baseball game.

FYI—this not the actual 1974 Topps McCovey card—though it is a much improved knock-off. The orginal has one of those dreadful repainted hats they used to use when a guy got traded, but they didn’t use a picture of him on his new team.

  15. unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2017 at 8:49 am

Yeah Joshua came from the Dogs. And he went back if i remember right

  16. blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2017 at 8:55 am

George Foster? I didn’t check any other posts.

    • unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2017 at 9:16 am

      Chuckles strikes again! Von Joshua.

      • blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2017 at 9:27 am

Yes, I see that now . . . That was YUGE! I bow to your “Awesomeness!”

  17. unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2017 at 9:47 am

Here’s Big Mac with the sideburn/mustache combo done to perfection . . .

Reading thru the posts just now and seeing a bunch of white dudes as guesses, when the pic is of a black Giant, and I was beginning to wonder if a few of you were color blind. Lqtm.

      Jerome Williams…

    • djloo27 said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:55 pm

Willie: The widely circulated (in NY anyway) trivia question I alluded to yesterday was this:
In the final inning of the 1978 WS, the Yankees had an all white team out in the field.
      Can you name them?
Seems somehow racist in these sensitive times, but back then it was really just what it was meant to be…trivia

    • alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2017 at 7:57 pm
