He’s the “Special Advisor to the CEO” Lol. The titles these ex-players get always slay me. What topics could Barry possibly advise Larry Baer on? Bike riding? How to act like a colossal dick to beat writers?

I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty cool watching the vids of him jack bombs out of the cage on Saturday. His last season was 2007, he was 42 and he blasted 28 bombs (along with 132 walks). He’s 52 now and if Baer wants to pay him to hang out and flip balls over the wall who am I to say there’s anything wrong with that?

I never thought Barry wanted to be a hitting coach and wasn’t surprised at all when he ran out of gas last year and the Marlins fired him. Being a hitting coach is more for the grinders of the game. Barry likes to get his relax on and *special advising some rich dude* seems about his speed.

I’m sure he’ll have some nice pointers for the hitters. Just don’t call him a *Hitting Coach.*

And build that damn statue already. I’ve never been to a statue unveiling but I would go to that one…..

This is a step in the direction of his number getting retired and a statue built eventually.

That number needs to be retired for him AND his old man.

I’m going to the NCAA women’s basketball regional final at the Stockton Arena tonight. (Did you know that Stockton has an arena?) 🙂
I’m going with a friend who’s originally from Connecticut; he’s a huge UConn fan, naturally. The game tonight is South Carolina vs. Florida St.
South Carolina is seen as a legitimate contender to upend UConn this year.

The Cardinal/ND game was very entertaining. Would love to see the Samuelson girls going head to head in the finals. Still don’t understand why she didn’t go to Stanford like her other two sisters. Must want to make a career out of basketball after she graduates.

I did know they have an arena and have heard it is a really nice one at that…enjoy, Zumiee.

Dodgers’ Kazmir will start the season on the DL. Sore hip.

Loo thx for the Bucks-Knicks clip. Loved Monroe and that whole Knicks group. Funny to see goofy looking Jackson in there at very end.

Zum, have fun. Stanford has made it too with their own share of comebacks including big one yesterday. They have a nice balance of size and perimeter shooting with gals who can drive and score, and play tough D. And of course are very well coached. But UConn is such a powerhouse I think they roll to yet another title.

Agree, that was a cool clip. Thanks, Loo. Munroe was a fun player to watch…

Oh I don’t think today’s episode of Feud btw Raiders and Oaktown ends well for locals. I give Mayor Schaaf props for not committing any city funds to help out the Raiders build a new yard, esp since taxpayers are still stuck with a bill from when Al first brought them back from LA, but tough one to swallow for die hard fans.

Raiders will have I think at least 2 more years here before new yard in Vegas is ready. Gotta wonder how fan base reacts to son of Al bailing on them.

Graham Nash show last night in Grass Valley was awesome. One of the best I have seen in quite some time. Just Graham and a guitarist named Shane Fontayne. Dude is seriously one of the best guitarists I have seen…he can flat play. I had never heard of him, but he has been the lead guitarist for Sting, Bruce Springsteen and others.

One of the cool points of the night is when Nash is describing how the song Westminster Cathedral was written. As he described it, it was a Sunday…day off for the band, and he rented a driver and a 1920 Rolls Royce. Stops at a dealer’s house and scores some acid and heads for Stonehenge. Finishes the day at Westminster.

My daughter was at that show, she also said it was good.

Looking at other positional rankings done by F/G, there was interesting comment on Giants and 3b. they ranked SF around middle of pack, with both Nunez and Gillaspie .715 OPS guys. At end of comment section the writer talks about Hwang and how well he hit in KBO and makes the comment that maybe he eventually takes over and moves Nunez into “more suitable utility role.”

So Flav, how would you feel about that one if it came to pass? It’s just weird to me that Giants have so many guys that can play 3b (plus Arroyo) beside him.

    Bonds can re-invent himself like A-Rod has…

I will never understand how the Knicks were able to get Earl the Pearl from then arch playoff rival Bullets for bench scrubs Dave Stallworth & Mike Riordan…

    • Macdog said, on March 27, 2017 at 1:46 pm

It says here Monroe forced a trade over a salary squabble with Bullets owner Abe Pollin:

      • djloo27 said, on March 27, 2017 at 3:45 pm

Thanks, Mac – but that was all they could get? And why trade him to the their annual playoff opponent?

  10. alleykat69 said, on March 27, 2017 at 10:25 am

Think Bonds statue should be him swinging off a tee and the tee can be a penis..

    • djloo27 said, on March 27, 2017 at 11:12 am

Or maybe just in his recliner?

    • djloo27 said, on March 27, 2017 at 11:14 am

The real issue would be if they would model it after the pre or post-steroid Barry…

Raiders get the required votes from the owners to move to Lost Wages…buh bye, Rayduhs…

For someone who can’t keep up, when do they break clap and get down to next to last cuts.

I don’t mind the Donger being a secret weapon with Beede second half of the season. Don’t know if anybody referenced the SI baseball preview issue but they make the ridiculous claim that the Giants should consider trading Beede (Beede for God’s sake) for either Ryan Braun or JD Martinez….F THAT! I’m not coughing up Blach either…take 2-3 others in the system like Blackburn and Stratton. 4 untouchables in our system…Beede, Blach, Donger and Arroyo…

    • chipower9 said, on March 27, 2017 at 12:24 pm

They break camp a week from Tuesday, come home and play the Bay Bridge series over the weekend, and then open against the D-backs in AZ on Monday.

Bumgarner’s final start today and the line-up is mostly starters. Gorkys getting the start today and he needs to do something if he wants to make the team…dude has been sucking g big-time lately and Ruggiano has put together a nice string…

Parker needs to cut down on his Ks…

      • chipower9 said, on March 27, 2017 at 2:21 pm

Ks or not…for now, I think Parker has a lock on LF.

  13. alleykat69 said, on March 27, 2017 at 2:15 pm

Hey there gonna probably go with Gorky Park cause somebody has to cover some ground in the outfield.Do I want the Donger you bet?,can he play OF consistently enough who knows?

  14. Macdog said, on March 27, 2017 at 2:18 pm

    Hwang dong!

  15. chipower9 said, on March 27, 2017 at 2:20 pm

Just getting out of a meeting and ready to dash off to another…damn – Giants have their hitting shoes on today. And Bum looks to be in mid-season form…

Is Donger officially headed to Sac? Leads the team in RBIs, yes? Shades of Randy Elliott.

Who’s coming to Citifield in just a few weeks?

  21. snarkk said, on March 27, 2017 at 11:35 pm

Raiduhs to Vegas. Whatever. As a former Raiders fan, who dropped the fandom when Al traitored down to LA, I feel some pangs of something for current Raiduhs fans. But, not too much. I won’t miss this team. I’d like to see this whole scenario blow up in Mark Davis’ face once he gets to the desert. If they get the stadium built, what kind of home field will it be? More than half of it filled with transients, including lots of fans of this week’s oppo flying in from wherever for a long weekend and oh yeah, random fans who just happen to be there that weekend. What kind of home field advantage is that? Maybe 1/2 the stadium will be populated w/ Raiduhs fans…
