A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

No Reason

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 24, 2017

I can’t come up with a single reason to be optimistic about this upcoming home series vs the Dodgers except for the “no reason” angle. Before we went to KC I thought it was entirely possibly we go 1-8. Even after we squeaked out the first one in extras I thought it was still possible that 1-8 ignominiously unfolded.

But there is always “no reason” to pin your hopes to. Things happen for no reason all the time. It’s one of the main reasons that sports books stay in business. If everything worked out as it appeared on paper, they’d go broke.

So let’s here it for NO REASON! Come on baby! We believe in you!!!!!

I dig Craw, but he has choked lately in some clutch situations. Damn!

    • Bozo said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:08 pm

Yeah, that double he hit earlier really sucked. πŸ˜‰

  2. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:03 pm

    Nice line for Cain. 6 IP, 2 H, 1BB and 3 Ks on 70 pitches. ERA now at a tidy 2.42. SMH…

    • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:08 pm

I’m eating some Crow right now, and I’m glad to do it.
I still think this can’t last, especially on the road as it warms up. But, I’m willing to be proved wrong every 5th start, especially with Bum and his dirt bike on hiatus for who-knows-how-long…

So far Stubbs looks better than anyone else they have put in the OF!

    • alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:16 pm

Yeah that wouldn’t take much Kevin…

    Robert Pirsig, R.I.P.

  5. dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:10 pm

Another solid start for Cain. Is that 3 in a row now? Why’d he get pulled with such a low pitch count?

    • zumiee said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:13 pm

The trainer came out. Cain may have been feeling soreness from the batted ball that hit him earlier.

    • pawliekokonuts said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:14 pm

might be hurt slightly from the ball that bounced off his foot or leg…..maybe they figured, let’s ice it

      • pawliekokonuts said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:14 pm

        great minds, zumieeee ……

All I can say is I am glad Evans finally grew some fucking gonads and made some moves. These changes just may give this team the kick in the pants it needed!

  7. willedav said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:17 pm

Drew Stubbs. Used to play softball 30 yrs ago with these guys and one of them was our full time C (not a good thing in slow pitch), named Andy. guy who had known him a long time, during one of his ABs, yells out from dugout, ” Hey Drew, have an idea.”
Guy next to him yells little louder, “Hey Drew have a clue.”

  8. Irish Kevin said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:18 pm

Still not hitting, so hard to say how this will work out, typical Cain night, he has to pitch great due to only 1 run. Vintage 2004-2008

  9. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:19 pm

Stubbs wearing Rueter’s old number. Damn, he sucks at the plate, but I’ll take him over Gorks at this point…

  10. willedav said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:21 pm

Curious move there by Roberts. I don’t care what arm you throw with, if you can’t get out Hernandez you shouldn’t be pitching.

    • chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:21 pm

      lulz

    • willedav said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:23 pm

hope Gameface hits a 3 run HR.

  11. snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:22 pm

Wow, Gorkys’ AB sacrificed to get Gillaspie up. How unfortunate. No clue why this guy is on the team; even his glove has been sucking…

  12. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:23 pm

Gorkys… this is where I’d love to see Hwang get his chances instead of the new 000. Though I do like Dizzy…

    • chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:24 pm

Agree, Paul! I’m ready to see one of those Korean bat-flips at the phone park!

Finally, off the wifey vid, and onto some RBI production.
    Let’s get some more…

    Blade, yes, alone.
    July 14? Bastille Day.
Hope Linh is feeling fine. And you too.

  19. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:35 pm

It’s looking like R.I.P. City with the Warriors game.

    • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:37 pm

Dubs are destroying Blazers with a quarter to go. 106 points for Dubs in only 3 quarters.
8 made 3s in Q1 and 45 points, a playoff record. Steph has been insane from outside tonight.
Durant had a sweet run down block from behind of Lillard in Q1, really a super hustle play.
      Can this team be stopped?…

  20. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:36 pm

So, if Romo gets in the game, does he get an ovation again, or an earful? I am guessing an earful…

  21. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:37 pm

Geez, Law, throw strikes, fer crissakes….

  22. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:37 pm

    WTF, Law?!

    • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:39 pm

Law has been very shaky all season. Not worthy of 8th inning trust…

  23. pawliekokonuts said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:38 pm

    Law is a goober.
Stop walking people. He sucks. Throw to the catcher.

  24. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:39 pm

Giants still seem to be looking for that 8th inning shut-down guy. It’s a key role. If I’m Law, I’m understanding and accepting that role. And walking the lead-off hitter ain’t it.

  25. pawliekokonuts said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:40 pm

Wasn’t Law a big part of the collapse vs. the Cubs in that playoff game? I’m not liking this feeling. Not. At. all.

These guys have to stop getting engaged or married in the offseason.

  26. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:40 pm

This was a great possible “feel good” game, and there haven’t been many of those. If the ‘pen blows this one…. sheesh…

  27. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:41 pm

Arroyo flashing some leather. I like what I’m seeing….

    • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:42 pm

That play will give him some confidence…

  28. alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:42 pm

    Kid can flash some leather!

  29. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:43 pm

I love that Murph pulled out 22 for Arroyo…

  30. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:43 pm

Come on Law! Make me eat some crow!

  31. alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:43 pm

Great minds think a like Chi!

  32. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:44 pm

    Whew.

  33. snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:44 pm

Anybody have the feeling w/Law that the guy has really good stuff, but dicks around with it too much, as in tries to be too fine, and so gets in trouble?…

    • chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:45 pm

Well, he did get the K, and held the damage to one run. Better than recent alternatives…

  34. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:44 pm

    Fuck yes! Bang Bang!

  35. willedav said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:45 pm

    Posey bails him out.

  36. xoot said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:45 pm

Arroyo looks really good in the field and at the plate–he definitely was not overmatched by the bums pitchers and he did not try to do too much with the bat. He’s taking sight. He needs to stick and to play.

Meanwhile, the middle of the Giants bullpen continues to define mediocrity. Thank gawd for Buster.

    • chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:47 pm

Agree. 3rd needs to be his until he shows consistently that he cannot handle it. He looks great. Sure, just one game, but I like how he has started.

  37. alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:46 pm

    Guns him out!!!
Rally killer ends with a Poseynaitor throw!!
    Eat shit Dodgers!!!

  38. Macdog said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:47 pm

Thank you dumbass baserunner with Seager batting.

  39. snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:47 pm

I remember I saw Arroyo for two ABs at Scottsdale. Has a really quiet approach at the plate, sets up in a fairly classic way, and does not over swing. Really well balanced through the swing. Kind of approach that likely won’t go into extended slumps…

    • alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:54 pm

So just the exact opposite of constipated stance Rowand then?

      • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:57 pm

        Pretty much, Kat…

  40. zumiee said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:47 pm

Who’da thunk Arroyo would be a defensive star tonight?

  41. snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:51 pm

Nunie has to be stealing here…

    • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:55 pm

Hit and run there makes nonsense to me, with a disciplined hitter Posey up. Why force him swing at a pitch that isn’t a good pitch to hit — and Romo throwing slow pitches?…

      • alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:57 pm

Guess the steal attempt made no sense either now..

      • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:59 pm

That whole sequence with Nunie was messed up…

  42. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 9:57 pm

    Nice AB by Crawford.

  43. Macdog said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:01 pm

Damn, Romo always was tough on rookies.

  44. Macdog said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:04 pm

Here comes Melancon for his once a week appearance.

  45. alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:05 pm

Arroyo got schooled by Romo end the end, but still made him throw a lot of frisbee’s before locking him up with a FB.Do like what Snarkk said, a very quiet body with good discipline. He’s gonna be a real keeper..

  46. pawliekokonuts said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:05 pm

2 more outs to go. NEED this W.

  47. zumiee said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:09 pm

  54. xoot said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:14 pm

“You are the best motherfucking catcher in baseball.” I think that’s what Melancon said to Posey.

  55. snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:15 pm

I wonder if they called that play with a sign before the pitch? Probably. Buster’s arm gets it done the 8th and 9th. Nice game. Not a lot of production — but I think the new blood added energy tonight…

  56. alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:15 pm

    Oh hell yes!!
    What a dumbshit Turner is!!
Never I mean never get thrown out as the tying run on second base!! Posey heads up with another gun throw!! Keep kicking the Dodgers butt boys!!

    • xoot said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:19 pm

good point. He was just as good this game as his last. Very similar. Very good. I haven’t seen a description of the injury yet.

  58. willedav said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:18 pm

SanDawg called this one end of last thread.
Giants need to open next season vs. LA instead of all the so called chump teams in West.

Warriors by 25, wasn’t that close. Up there tmw, don’t want to hear anything out of Portland crowd.

  59. alleykat69 said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:18 pm

Think I had more facial hair as a baby then Arroyo has now…

    • snarkk said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:20 pm

Kat, were you using Barbasol at age 10 months?…

  60. chipower9 said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:19 pm

I had to go back and wach that final out, again. Thank you Mr. dipshit Turner. Fucking heads-up play by Posey. Bam!

Cain’s right hamstring tightened…..x rays neg on foot

  65. unca_chuck said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:38 pm

Cain continues his dominance. I thought he hurt himself on a swing not the ball that hit his foot.

Law is aggravating as fuck. He’s diddling shit. He should be attacking. Arroyo didn’t hit anything hard but for a few fouls. Did get the runner over for the sac fly iirc.

Romo got a nice ovation before the game started.

  66. unca_chuck said, on April 24, 2017 at 10:39 pm

A lot of empty seats tonight.

  67. djloo27 said, on April 25, 2017 at 5:08 am

It would be a huge mistake to rush Bumgarner back in what is clearly a hopelessly lost season…
