The New Era Feels Like the Old Era

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 26, 2017

Two games into the Stubbs/Arroyo Era and it has resulted in 3 runs in 2 games. Now that they’ve settled into The Show, I’m thinking one or both hit a bomb tonight. Why not?

Time for Cueto to shimmy his ass back on the beam. Coors Field is in the rear view mirror, Bumgarner’s arm sits glumly in a sling. We need him to step up or opt out.

    Domenic Mazza?
Wasn’t that the kid who gave up a bomb to Tim Tebow in his minor league debut then announced after the game he was retiring??

    • wilcojoe said, on April 26, 2017 at 9:06 pm

Yep, the retiring part was a joke. I mentioned here on the Flap right after he was drafted that he is a family friend. My dad and Domenic’s father and grandfather worked together in the masonry business for many years. My dad was actually out here visiting when the Tebow thing went down, so I didn’t say anything about it at the time.

We couldn’t be happier for him after the whole Tebow thing, which he handled with total class. I have no doubt in my mind, he will be in the bigs some day soon, if only for a cup of coffee. . The composure he carries is second only to his killer changeup. Great pitcher, even better kid.

Their new play by play guy is in his late 20s, I think. It seems ridiculously young.

Meeting two buddies for breakfast at 8:30, which is early for me these days. So, let’s win this in the 9th, Gigantes.

How could the Fates not let us win such an exciting, dramatic game?

    Let’s do it!

  24. sandog said, on April 26, 2017 at 9:53 pm

I’ve got a look-alike for Arroyo brewing, but it just hasn’t come to me yet.

  25. Macdog said, on April 26, 2017 at 9:54 pm

That might be the cleanest inning I’ve seen from Melancon.

  26. snarkk said, on April 26, 2017 at 9:54 pm

How bout that HR power? That’s what Giants need. This conga line stuff is bullcheet when the conga line is constantly one batter long…

  62. snarkk said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:33 pm

A couple of jacks by the new guys puts a whole new look to this operation. Funny how HRs tend to do that…

  63. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:33 pm

Romo kind of worked Arroyo the other night…didn’t take Arroyo long to get to Romo…what a cool fucking AB!

  64. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:35 pm

Had to watch that twice. Arroyo has a nice stride around the bases…like it isn’t his first rodeo.

  65. zumiee said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:41 pm

Arroyo was the first one out of the dugout, sprinting to get to Pence. This is exactly what this team needed.

  66. chipower9 said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:41 pm

Just watched Morse’s HR! That was some cool shit between the shot itself, and the post HR energy (helmet slam) in the dugout. Welcome back Morse…I eat my words from earlier in the year.

    • zumiee said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:44 pm

Me too! His swing looked quick on the HR. There’s still some life in his swing. With he and Gallaspie, that’s good PH power on the bench now.

      • chipower9 said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:46 pm

Yep. Our bench is definitely better than it has been in a couple of years.

      • zumiee said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:49 pm

        Yeah, Hundley’s been a solid pick-up, too.
Gorkys contributed tonight, I’ll give him that.

  67. pawliekokonuts said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:51 pm

that was fun…..now how do I get to sleep before 3am? Shades of 2014. Or was it 2012. Or ’10??

  68. zumiee said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:54 pm

A check of the Dodger blogs shows an outpouring of “f” words, and the occasional noun and adjective.

    • snarkk said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:56 pm

Nice. Always amusing to see some Doghairs doggerel…

    • pawliekokonuts said, on April 26, 2017 at 10:58 pm

I like when the F word is used as a hybrid noun, adjective, participle, and gerund.

      • Lurker John said, on April 27, 2017 at 6:08 am

        lol

    Pence’s winning AB:

    • zumiee said, on April 26, 2017 at 11:02 pm

They were committed to trying to strike him out, instead of trying for a ground ball. They risked the sac fly.

  70. zumiee said, on April 26, 2017 at 11:14 pm

D-Backs’ Rodney blows the save and the game. No bow and arrow tonight.
