Death Train Rolls On

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 10, 2017

Interesting note: Of their last 9 losses, only one of them has been by 1 run. So not only are we losing but the 1.5 point spread that is pretty typical in baseball lines wouldn’t even help us.

Cain today vs one of the worst left handers in the league.

So I think we know how this is gonna go down…..

Avoided watching any action since Wed a week ago W vs. LA. Once they return to SF hopefully after getaway day W with Mac, here’s how I shuffle deck chairs on Titanic:

Mac and Slater are up Hernandez and Nunez on waivers
    Hwang and FedEx up
Depending on Craw and Span activated, Gillaspie Ruggiano and Morse on waivers

13 position–Span Pence Mac Slater Belt Posey Panik Craw Arroyo Specs Hwang Fed Ex Hundley

Keep an eye on R Jones in Sac and promote Shaw from AA to AAA

And like Marciano used to say, keep punching

’85 was still bad old days before Craig and Rosen got things together. Jim Gott had an OPS within 30-40 points of Leonard and Gladden (who both hit only .240s) and lot of dead bats among regulars. Matt Nokes, lol

Kruk is hilarious. While detailing all the reasons why Gorks isn’t a major league hitter, he managed to diss Belt IN THE MIDDLE of it on KNBR this morning. “Gorks big hole in his swing, blah blah…it’s like Belt, he can’t hit the high fastball and everyone in the league knows it…and Gorks is letting his bat affect his defense…..”
Kruk then went on to say that he firmly believes that the 0-5 Smarge will one day win 20 games…..
I think it’s possible Kruk has gone insane….

RE: Kruk, ya think? He has LOST IT, IMO…

Got home a bit late yesterday and said WTF…let’s see what’s shaking. Uh, 5-1 Mutts in the 4th. Fuck. This. Shit.

    When does football season start???

I have seen hardly any of this or the Cincy series…thank goodness, and am going to quit watching until our boys run off 3-4 wins in a row (yeah right…don’t hold your fucking breath).

Seriously, I do not recall this level of sucktitude since our boys lost 100 in 1985.

    Pour me another double…

Hey, I’m on the train in NJ right now on the way to the game, haha.

Good luck, Mac! Hope they bring you a W, baby!

Glad to hear it Mac. We’ve got our Ace on the mound and the law of large numbers is on our side.
We’re counting on you to turn this thing around!

      • chipower9 said, on May 10, 2017 at 9:10 am

lqtm…yeah, Mac. We’re counting on YOU. No pressure, brother! 😎

Mac, it was a brutal game for me to be there to see last night. Best seats (11 rows behind the Giants dugout) I have ever had and except for Posey’s bomb, didn’t get to see a Giant hang out at 3rd…But close enough to see the pain in the players each time they came off the field. Seeing up close their effort and frustration made me know they are not going to give up, no matter what folks judging (with some justification) them from the comforts of their chair. On a positive note the many Giants fans around our seating was a little comforting knowing they were and hopefully still staying positive.
On a side note, if the spark goes on with the team, I’ll probably travel to Philly to see them play. Have friends living outside of there and though it is well over 100 miles from home I could stay overnight. Going to Citi sucks…traffic sucks… tolls suck ($29) parking sucks ($25)…. but to Philly the ride and tolls are reasonable.
Best wishes for your success today.

Miller, who I think is pretty restrained when it comes to criticizing players (too restrained imo) did everything but call Nunez a loafer on a few occasions last night. He made it sound like he is both timid and lazy in the outfield.
He and Flem basically said unless he’s hurt and we don’t know it, he wasn’t putting much effort into going after balls last night.
I’m down with DFAing his lazy ass.

Fuck yeah! Sayonara, motherfucker! Don’t let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out…

Saw a picture in Messenger yesterday of a shot of us at YankMee Stadium. You, Loo, Mac and me. Great shot…great time…great memories…

    • willedav said, on May 10, 2017 at 8:27 am

Listening to him on radio Saturday top 9th, Nunez led off vs. Familia, swung at first pitch which handcuffed him inside and popped out. Miller was very surprised. Two batters later Hernandez got same pitch to lead off his AB and took it for a ball, which Miller commented on. So in other words Hernandez was the smarter hitter…think about that one for a sec.

It’s weird cause Nunie doesn’t really have a lot of lee way to loaf for even a second. His entire game is based off maximum effort.

    • willedav said, on May 10, 2017 at 8:31 am

Giants handed him 3b job out of ST, another over valuation of talent. Just like b-ball I’m always suspicious of guys who put up good numbers on chump teams. And until he hits Giants won’t get anything for him either.
F/G has good column on them today, “Giants are stuck.”

    • Lurker John said, on May 10, 2017 at 8:41 am

He doesn’t have any leeway as far as I’m concerned. He should be running through walls to make plays. Sounds like a clubhouse tumor to me.

  9. Flavor said, on May 10, 2017 at 8:38 am

MacDog, when the game starts heading south I’m hoping you at least entertain the idea of diving on to the visitors dugout, arms outstretched, looking for high fives.

    • Macdog said, on May 10, 2017 at 10:07 am

If there’s a reason to do it, haha.

  10. wilcojoe said, on May 10, 2017 at 8:44 am

I think the contract extension the Giants just gave Kruk and Kuip tells you all you need to know about this organization. A couple weeks before the extension was announced, I said right here that I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear a retirement announcement mid season from Kruk and possibly Kuip as well. I was floored when I heard about the extension, considering Kruk’s worsening medical condition.

  11. Lurker John said, on May 10, 2017 at 8:44 am

The platitudes are flying left and right from Giant’s Nation. Bochy: “We have to do better, we’re sputtering, blah, blah, blah.” Evans: “We expect to compete, we think guys will start to hit to their career numbers, we should be doing better, it’s too early to be sellers, blah, blah, blah.” And my favorite from Evans, “We didn’t think we’d have to rely on left field this much.” WTF?!

This whole train wreck makes me throw up in my mouth.

  12. wilcojoe said, on May 10, 2017 at 8:46 am

If only for their own personal well being, Kruk and Bochy need to call it a night.

Well, the odds should be with you, Mac. After a 5 game losing streak and against a lousy pitcher, the Giants probably have a pretty good chance of winning today. Take pics if you can!

I still am not going to watch until they reel off they reel off three or four in a row. Now off to the box score to see how it all played out!

Eric “Sleepy” Floyd, a blast from the Warrior’s past. A fine player he was.

  32. Lurker John said, on May 10, 2017 at 2:12 pm

I haven’t watched yet, but it looks like Arroyo had a bases-clearing double in the 9th to give the Giants a 3-run cushion, which they obviously needed with fucking Law coming in to close. Posey homered, saw that.

6 runs, 11 hits, a veritable cornucopia of offense!

  33. gianthead said, on May 10, 2017 at 2:14 pm

Ok for someone just looking at the box score..why did Melancon not close?

I was torn between the comeback and Familia on my fantasy team and needing a save…can we hope this provides some kind of moral victory.

Saw Midnight Oil last night. Only third US shoe after 20 years…oldest dude show I have ever seen…and not just the band. There were people there my parent’s age….packed house of 2000 in a nightclub smelling and sweating to high heaven. My XX show over the weekend was much much hipper…

Ahhhh….danke…im terms if Bell’s record pace for strike outs…

Why it made absolutely no sense to hit Belt in the two-hole with how many swing and miss swings he has. Of course, there is hardly anyone on base ahead of him to make those strikeouts blown opportunities…

      • djloo27 said, on May 10, 2017 at 7:57 pm

Best #2 hitter I ever saw was Glenn Beckert. He gets no recognition, but for half a decade he was every bit as important to those Cub teams as Banks, Williams and Santo…

Ok, nothing will ever match Loo being at the WC game. But, what looked like the latest installment in New Ways to Lose — in this case the run differential the result of Posey botching a grounder that led to Milone’s 2-out RBI single — instead turned into a glorious day for yours truly. And not just because the Giants finally showed some fight and won a game that won’t mean a whole lot, but also for reveling in yet another kick-in-the-balls outcome for Mets fans — from my buddy at the game to the fella in a Seaver jersey in front of us to angry texts on my phone. Oh, what pissing and moaning! The main points of consternation: why didn’t hot-hitting Conforto pinch-hit with the bases loaded in the 7th, and why was .091 Plawecki the last hope? It’s like the Mets didn’t even win the series.

Great to see Pawlie, sorry Flav, no pictures. … What a rope from Arroyo, man, that was sweet. …. Until the 9th, Ruggiano of all players had the best ABs. … Shocked how dead the crowd was, and no weather excuse this time, it was a comfortable 60s all game.

  45. snarkk said, on May 10, 2017 at 10:06 pm

    Looking at highlights.
in bottom 9th, Ruggiano should have had that catch in deep left center off Wilmer Flores. Pitch was right down the middle and got clubbed, but Ruggiano had the glove right at the ball a couple feet away from the wall and flat flubbed the catch. What an outfield…

It was great fun: Macdog and his buddy, my Matt Harvey lookalike buddy, Dieter and the Finnertarians. Around the 8th inning, for no reason, I said to folks from San Jose, “We’re going to win this somehow.” I was impressed Macdog’s friend easily knew what preceded the U Haul sign out near the chop shops: Serval Zippers. Two people near Dieter said, when I gave them CHASING WILLIE MAYS postcards, “Hey, weren’t you on Marty Lurie’s show?” Even my Mets friend conceded, “You guys needed this — way more than we did.” I would’ve been crestfallen if we blew the lead. But is this a turning point? Doubt it.
